ESI Series #2

Counterplay: An ESI Novel

Rate this book
Sarah Erickson may be the only daughter in a family of military men, but she’s no damsel in distress. When her roommate is killed in a “mugging gone wrong,” Sarah knows there’s more to the story - the only problem is, her brothers won’t let her join ESI so she can find the killer.

Roman Holt is a respected member of the ESI team, but he has a past he’d rather not discuss. When he learns that his younger brother has been killed, he flies to New York to identify the body. But in a strange twist of fate, he knocks on his brother’s door and Sarah is the one who answers.

Sarah wants nothing to do with the grumpy military man, but he has a habit of popping up… and she can’t stop thinking about the kiss they shared only days before. Soon she realizes he may know more about his brother’s death than he’ll admit. When her solo investigation kicks up dust on a past long buried, Roman must keep her safe before she digs any further and gets them both killed.

I am one of the lucky ones that got to read the preview of this. I love this book. This author is amazing in her talent. The storyline keeps me wanting to read more and more. There is intrigue, mystery, romance, entertainment and excitement all rolled up in one book. It is a great second book!!! If you haven't read the first one, that one is amazing too. Can't wait for more of this whole series to come out. There is no end to the story line and directions. Love Love Love IT!!!!!

I really enjoyed the mystery & intrigue. I couldn't put it down until I knew how She got out of all of it! It has a military type feel with the ESI people checking out a compound, and interesting connections.
Just when you think she is safe... Give it a try!

Another solid read by new author to me Ceara Nobles. After Sarah roommate Ryan dies in an accident mugging or is it, that’s when the story takes off with suspense and action throughout. With a splash of romance. I wish these books had more romance in them hence 4 stars instead of 5. Off to read the third in the series I believe it’s Sarah’s brothers Owen story.

Sarah’s brothers are just trying to protect her but when her roommate is killed she thinks something is wrong. She tries to get her brothers to help but they won’t even hear her out so she goes off on her own to find answers. Things start going wrong and Roman Holt, an ESI agent keeps showing up. Before she knows it, she’s stirred up a mess and she and Roman will have to work together to get out of the mess. But he has secrets too. Action packed, fast read. Everyone has secrets but they all end up having to work together. Enjoyable story with realistic characters and enough twists and turns to keep the story flying by. This is a new to me author and I found that this is the second in the series. Although it stands alone, I’ll be going back for the first book to play catch up before the next release. (I voluntarily reviewed an ARC).
