Starting Ugly is a timeless tale about change and innovation, told through the entertaining parable of Gregory Sharp. Gregory is a businessman who's youth was spent creating a very successful lumber business. But as he continues to grow his company, he becomes blind to the practices and tools that helped him innovate.
Unable to see past his blind spots, Gregory is about to lose everything, until he comes to a revelation that his former employee, Jeff helps him that perfect execution is critical; but constantly innovating by starting ugly is vital to continual success.
Start Ugly is a call to arms to encourage you to take action on your ideas and creations so you can release yourself from the chains of perfectionism and experience the joy and growth that comes with launching. It's also a powerful reminder to continually innovate so complacency doesn't allow you to become obsolete in our fast-paced world.
Innovate, create, refine, repeat. This is the key to success for entrepreneurs, creators, and anyone who has a dream. Author Chris Krimitsos encourages readers not to become paralyzed by perfectionism. New ideas aren’t perfect in nature, they need refining, so why not just start implementing your ideas and refine as you go? This is what it means to start ugly and starting ugly is what you need to do over and over again.
This book was fantastic! It's a quick read but spurs action! For those that get into their own heads, the way I often do, this book is a must-read for a jumpstart! I find many writers are perfectionists. We waste hours upon hours trying to make the perfect "start" plan, trying to make the perfect piece. Sometimes we end up tearing apart something that started so wonderfully. I encourage you all to, "Start Ugly."
Quick and easy read but worth way more than the $5 I paid for it. It might seem simple but the idea of just getting started without it all being figured out isn't easy. Thanks, Chris, for the timely reminder for me to just #startugly!
This book was short, to the point and so helpful to me at this point in my life! The principles of start ugly and execute perfectly are applicable in all aspects of life.
