The Billionaire’s Ward

Rate this book
Vane McClellan is all business. He might come from money, but he’s worked hard to make his architecture firm one of the top in the country. But things have slammed to a halt in the wake of becoming guardian to Annabelle, his late cousin’s daughter. Vane fears Annabelle may need more than he can give her.

Maggie Stewart, Annabelle’s teacher, cares deeply for her students but likes to live footloose and fancy free. She’s about to move—again—but not before she gets Annabelle settled. They’ve grown close since the girl joined her class, and now Maggie has one final job: drop Annabelle off at Vane’s summer home.

When Maggie gets stranded at Vane’s vacation home, she gets a chance to see Vane vulnerable. The sight of a strong man doing his best in the face of new fatherhood melts her heart. When he asks her to stay and nanny Annabelle for the summer, Maggie agrees in hopes that she’ll be able to teach Vane how to be a father before her new job starts. Vane is happy to have someone he trusts to shepherd his young ward. As the three begin to become a family and Vane and Maggie give in to the passion that’s plagued them from day one, they’ll let themselves be something both have feared for a long time: happy. But when summer comes to an end, Vane and Maggie will have to decide if they want to follow their hearts...or their plans.

The Billionaire’s Ward (McClellan Billionaires Book 3) by: Leslie North

I wanted to fall in love, but found myself stuck at like. Vane and Maggie are finding their hearts tested by more than the young girl they both love. Annabelle is the link that binds these two strangers, but will love be strong enough to survive the pain that is sure to come? North continues to write complex characters. Not quite likeable, bordering on loveable, but always a pleasure to explore.

I liked this book but it is by far my least favorite of the series. I can't say anything really bad about it other than at times the pacing felt sluggish and bogged down. The plot and characters were appealing, but I just couldn't get too emotionally invested in it. This is my honest, voluntary review.

📚💕⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💕📚

They all are living in the happiness Edge!

Leslie North’s writing is flawless, and the words are so captivating, the plot had so many twists and turns, I found myself ignoring everything around me and rooting page after page for these three. After a battle with cancer Annabelle looses her mom and is now in the care of Vane her cousin. He knows he needs to give her a stable home and asks her teacher to spend the summer with them. They’re insanely attracted to one another but can they risk hurting Annabelle? Can they step back and see they could be a forever kind of family or will Maggie move on at the end of the summer?

Authors Blurb: Vane McClellan is all business.

She’s about to move again but not before she gets Annabelle settled.

Vane is happy to have someone he trusts to shepherd his young ward. But when summer comes to an end, Vane and Maggie will have to decide if they want to follow their hearts...or their plans.

This book has everything I love in a book. Then you add that it's beautifully written and believable. It is easily a five star read. Written in dual POV my personal favorite this story flows so incredibly well that the next thing you know your 80% into the book and loving every second of it. The believable way the characters interact is perfect. Run, Hop, Jump or use your (1 click) finger to do whatever you have to do and get this amazing book. It'll break your heart, you'll want to scream with frustration and it'll let you discover that love just might conquer all. The chemistry is steamy and sweet and oh so romantic.

Thanks Netgally for letting me read and review.📚💕

Vane McClellan is a top architect who is now guardian to his cousin's daughter, Annabelle, after his cousin lost his battle with cancer. Vane is struggling with parenthood and feels like every note, email, and phone call from Annabelle's teacher just reinforces that he isn't doing what is right for Annabelle. Maggie Stewart is Annabelle's teacher who care deeply for her students and lives a loose and fancy free life that has her never putting down roots for too long. Maggie calls Vane in to see if she can convince him to let Annabelle go on the end of the year school trip, but Vane informs Maggie that he and Annabelle will be leaving the same day for his family's summer home that is being renovated. Maggie offers to drive Annabelle to Vane's home after the school trip, and Vane agrees. Maggie is forced to spend the night at Vane's home when a storm blows in making a trip back to the city impossible. Vane offers Maggie the position of Annabelle's nanny for six weeks until she leaves for an adventure before she starts her new job in Alaska. Maggie and Vane are attracted to each other and give in to their attraction. As Vane and Maggie spend time together, their feelings grow for each other. Maggie knows Annabelle needs her to care for her, but does Vane need her, too? Will Maggie walk away from Vane when she believes Vane doesn't care for her the way she cares for him? Will Vane tell Maggie how he feels before she leaves for her new job? Will Maggie realize that what she really wants is Vane, Annabelle, and a place to call home? I really enjoyed The Billionaire's Ward by Leslie North. The chemistry between Vane and Maggie is smoking hot! The Billionaire's Ward is a great book with amazing characters who show each other what family, love, and home really means. I would definitely recommend getting The Billionaire's Ward by Leslie North.

A nice romantic tale. I like this book from this author and although there are a few editing errors, the story and the characters made up for those. This book is based on two adults trying to do their best for a young girl who tragically lost both her parents. Vane, Annabelle's uncle becomes her guardian and Maggie, her school teacher, her temporary nanny. Add to that an old secluded beachside mansion at the cusp of major renovation and the reader is transported into all the noise, chaos, and mess, along with lots of fun the grown-ups are determined to bestow upon Annabelle to make her feel part of something she had lost. A relationship between Vane and Maggie, both lovely physical specimens is almost inevitable and hot, yet neither of them brings up the subject of what happens when this ''temporary'' period is over. Maggie is a wanderer by nature although from her soliloquies it is quite probably her mother's nature more than hers, she just never knew any constancy in her life, always looking for the next adventure. Her character is quite interesting, Vane, on the other hand, remains a bit of a mystery, and he begins to realise the extent of his loneliness after he finds his spirits lifting being with Maggie. However, women's hearts are fragile when they realise that filling time in a man's life isn't enough. She leaves and by doing so inadvertently brings unexpected joy to Annabelle’s life. Vane is shocked and is determined to give Maggie a memento of their time together. The author managed to keep the tension between the lovers until finally, honest communication between them results in a happy ending for all.

Loved this story parts of it were so sweet. Vane is Annabelle's guardian after his cousin has sadly passed away but he is struggling to bond with her when he is called in to see her teacher Maggie as he has not signed a form allowing Annabelle to go on a school trip. He explains to her his reasons & she talks him into letting her go as Maggie said she will look after her & bring her to his home after. That night because of a storm she cannot go home so after talking she agrees to be be Annabelle's nanny for 6 weeks as she has now left the school before starting her new job at the end of the summer for the next 5 yrs as she cares a lot for Annabelle & wants to see her happy with Vane before she goes off for the summer & her new job. During their time together she not only gets closer to Annabelle but she has started having strong feelings for Vane. This start getting hot between her & Vane where she starts feeling like they are a little family but a comment made by Zane about her only being in their life temporary leaves her hurt as he obviously didn't feel the same way about their relationship as she did. Vane has does care for Maggie but doesn't want to hold her back from her life & her new job but when he wakes up the next day to find her gone he realises just how much he loves her & wants to be a family he just hopes he is in time & that she gives him a chance to prove how he feels. I loved the characters & the story has fun, emotional at times, romantic but also hot. This is another great story by Leslie North.

Third Book is a Charm in this Romantic Series.
Leslie North has given her readers a wonderful series. This third book contains so much heart and soul. All the characters, Maggie, Vane, and Annabelle were important to the story as well as the family beach house. Even Melinda and her granddaughter, Lila who shows up at the end of the story are important in moving the story to its conclusion and HEA.
The jest if the story has Maggie agreeing to work as a Nanny for Annabelle until her next teaching job in Alaska. She’s fond of saying she’s adventurous. She also thinks Annabelle ‘s Guardian, Vane is hot. Vane is relieved that Maggie will Nanny as Annabelle has run off two Nannies already and he can’t find anyone else. Also, he thinks Maggie is hot. The three of them work well together. Soon that professional line is crossed but Maggie leaves anyway. She’s determined to head north but runs into her mom who sets her straight long enough for Vane to show up and profess his love.
It was important for the mom to show up as until this point in her life Maggie has this whole cognitive dissonance thing going on and it took her mom to be a gentle sledgehammer to break thru it and allow Maggie to see her true self...she’s a home body not an adventurer.
I’m wholeheartedly recommending this book, series, and anything written by the author, for your reading enjoyment and pleasure. Peace.

Maggie is a free spirit, never really settling down in one place for long and in pursuit of the next adventure. Vane is an overwhelmed guardian of a grieving young girl, Annabelle, who also happens to be a student in Maggie’s class. Concerned about her young student, makes an unexpected offer to Vane. She will be a nanny in charge of Annabelle for the period of six weeks while his family’s historic beach house is renovated. Vane gratefully accepts her offer, knowing he needs help with the troubled young Annabelle. Those six weeks bring many changes for Vane, Maggie and Annabelle. Vane and Annabelle establish a closer relationship, and Annabelle is on her way to becoming a happy carefree child again. Maggie and Vane become not only friends but lovers, something neither had ever expected could happen after their rather antagonistic relationship as parent and teacher during the school year. Both know that their time together is limited, yet both begin to wish for something more permanent. But she is a free spirit and meant to keep moving on to the next adventure......right?
This book has been written with a great deal of insight and perception, with characters the reader can’t help but empathize with and come to love. I highly recommend this book and I look forward to reading more books written by this author. I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the third book in the McClellan Billionaires series. Vane recently took custody of his cousin's daughter after his cousin died of cancer. Vane is struggling to be a parent to Annabelle, and her teacher Maggie called him in for a conference. Maggie really liked Annabelle and wanted to go on a field trip with the class, but Vane wouldn't allow it because they were leaving the same day to go to his family's country house that was going to be renovated. Maggie offered to take Maggie on the field trip and then drive her to the country home herself. Vane agreed and when Maggie arrived with Annabelle, it was late and he offered Maggie a room for the night. Annabelle needed a new nanny and Vane asked Maggie if she would be interested to work as a nanny until she was set to leave for a new job. Maggie agreed knowing Annabelle needed someone to care for her, but she never thought Vane would need her too. Vane and Maggie had an attraction to each other that they couldn't fight and began a fling, but the more time they spent together, the more they grew to care for each other. Maggie was leaving soon and was unsure how Vane felt and she no longer knew what she wanted. I really enjoyed this book. I thought Vane was trying his best to be a good father figure to Annabelle. I think Maggie and Vane were great together and i think Maggie found a family she could love, but she didn;t know if she was supposed to want it. Another good one,

Leslie North has done it again with this 5-star book. She has written a book about Maggie and Vane. Maggie is a teacher and one of her students Annabelle has a special place in her heart. Vane is Annabelle's uncle and her guardian because her parents have died. He needs a nanny to watch her due to his work for 6 weeks. Maggie agrees to the job before she goes onto her new job. There is an instant attraction between them but they don't do anything about them. As they spend more time together their feelings grow stronger. Maggie's feelings for Vane scare her because of her past. She feels, she has to always be moving and never staying in one place for too long. Vane has taken some pictures of Annabelle and Maggie and he gives her some and the pictures she got, she misunderstands what they mean. She decides to leave after getting a new nanny for Annabelle.
Can Maggie get past her upbringing of always moving and realize that she has found what she was looking for with Vane and Annabelle?
Will Vane stop Maggie from leaving, can he recognize that Maggie and Annabelle are more important than work?
This book has Maggie and Vane's emotions going in different directions, some misunderstandings and an intense attraction. I enjoyed this book and would recommend this book to anyone who wants to read a great love story.

The Billionaire’s Ward is the final book in McClellan brothers trilogy. We meet Vane McClellan the last of the clan! Vane has been given custody of Annabelle, the daughter of his cousin who died. Vane is a very structured all business kind of guy who has been thrown into fatherhood of a preteen! Enter Annabelle’s teacher Maggie, a bubbly carefree adventurous type, who grew up with a mother that never settled down always moved around, totally opposite of Vane. Not one to stay in one place for any length of time, she is preparing to move to Alaska for 5 years! Maggie offers to drive Annabelle to the McClellan beach home so that Annabelle can attend the end of the year school trip. The beach house is being remodeled and they need to be there. He agrees! Vane is having trouble getting a nanny for the summer partly due to Annabelle who does not want one. Maggie agrees to help out becoming the nanny for a few weeks which ends up becoming the whole summer. Maggie fits right in and we watch as she, Vane and Annabelle begin to fall into a natural routine and become “family” feeling all the bumps along the way. Unfortunately, time is running out and Maggie will be leaving or will she finally find home!

When Annabelle’s father, Vane’s cousin, died of cancer, she became Vane’s ward. It was difficult for the billionaire bachelor who had to become a parent all of a sudden, but he loved Annabelle and he tried to do his best for her.

Annabelle’s teacher, Maggie, loves her students. She asked Vane to come in for a parent teacher conference. She is preparing to move to Alaska but because Vane has been having trouble finding a nanny – because Annabelle thinks she is too grown up for one and drives them away -- Maggie agrees to become Annabelle’s nanny for a limited time. She ends up at their summer home longer than she planned, and she and Vane give in to their attraction for each other. But when it was time to move on to her new job, Maggie made sure to send a nanny, who happened to have a granddaughter Annabelle’s age. Will Maggie actually drive away for her next “adventure” to teach in Alaska? Or will she come to realize, maybe with a little “push”, that the family she just left might be the biggest adventure of her life?

Great story with a good story line and likable characters. You won’t want to miss this one. Will Maggie find the peace her adventurous spirit is constantly looking for? Grab your copy and see how it works out.

This story is about Vane and Maggie. Vane is an “uncle/guardian” to his cousin’s daughter, Annabelle. Her mother had passed and when he passed from cancer, he was left to care for her. Well Maggie is Annabelle’s teacher and she sets up a meeting with Vane to discuss an end of school trip that Annabelle would love to go to, but Vane hasn’t signed off on the consent form. Well the story takes off from them as Maggie convinces him to allow Annabelle to go as she agrees to drive her to his beach house. Luckily for Vane a storm is coming through and Maggie is stuck there, so he asks her to help out by being the nanny, she agrees for only a few weeks as she has plans to take a vacation before heading to her new job. Well things begin to blossom between them all and she gets scared and leaves him with a new nanny lined up. Does Vane get her to stay and why does she fear this relationship. There is a lot to say in how you view life as a child to as an adult and this story helps you understand that it isn’t always the way you think it should be. This book did include Arthur and his son from the previous book at the end, but it would have been nice to have them all come together.

This is the third book in the McClellan Billionaire’s series. This is about Vane and Maggie. Vane is Arthur’s brother. Arthurs story is told in book two. I loved this book. The story is fast paced, but it doesn’t feel rushed. You have a little interaction with the characters from book two but it’s not necessary to read the second book to enjoy this story. The book reads well as a standalone.

Vane finds himself guardian to his young niece Annabelle. Maggie is Annabelle’s teacher. Vane and Maggie have an almost love/hate relationship going on. Maggie wants to help, and Vane sees her as a know it all. Maggie convinces Vane to let Annabelle go on the last field trip at her old school and she’ll bring her out to Vane’s family beach home after the trip. A storm strands her at Vane’s place before she can leave. Vane talks her in to staying and being Annabelle’s temp nanny for six weeks. They end up starting a temporary relationship, but Maggie is supposed to leave for a new job in Alaska. Can Vane convince Maggie that she belongs there with him and Annabelle?

Vance McClellan is guardian for his cousin's daughter Isabelle. When he was summon to the school for a conference, he meets her 4th grade teacher Maggie Stewart. He seems rigid and business like to Maggie and she was really worried for Isabelle. When she suggested if he would let Isabelle attend end of the year field trip, he denied and was ready to leave in a hurry. When Maggie offered to drive Isabelle after the field trip to his new project he relieved to let Isabelle go.
When Maggie arrived at his childhood beach house with Isabelle, he offered her if she could be Isabelle's Nanny. Maggie decides to take the position until her next adventure and they started leaving together. Maggie wants to help Vance getting closer to Isabelle but Vance and Maggie are getting know each other and getting closer as well. Maggie never stayed in one place for long, will this be her permanent place or ready for next adventure?
It was short and sweet..

I hate to see this series come to an end. The three books in this series where highly entertaining and gave me hours of reading pleasure. I look forward to reading more books like this from this author.

This book was fantastic. It was a greatly rewarding experience. It had depth, along with humor, being thought provoking, and even an emotional moment or two.

Great characters with Vane, Maggie and Annabelle. It was awesome watching these three grow into a well loved family. They all deserved their HEA. Awesome story line that was so entertaining, it was hard to put down to get back to work. The descriptions of detail were so easy to visualize and painted a beautiful picture in my mind. As for the dialogue, it was engaging and humorous.

Written as as 3rd person, multi pov with a HEA.

Would I recommend this book? Yes!

Would I read more from this author? Yes

The Billionaire's Ward by Leslie North. This is Vane, Maggie and Annabelle's story. I really enjoyed this book. Vane is now the Gaudian for Annabelle and Maggie is her teacher. When Vane comes in for a parent teacher conference the attraction was there. Maggie being the teacher she was she goes out her way for everyone. When she wants Annabelle to attend an end of the year picnic, she volunteers to bring her to her uncle at the beach house when it was over. The night was cold and rainy and Maggie couldn't drive back. She than volunteers to be Annabelle's nanny for six week before she leave on her next adventure. The more Vane and Maggie are together, sharing those special moments and taking care of a child it brings them closer together. I love the family time they shared at the beach and even their adult time on the beach. It was a fun, family oriented read and I wasn't ready for their story to end. Good Book!!!

Vane's cousin passed away and left him with custody of his daughter, Annabelle. He isn't prepared for fatherhood, and is struggling to balance everything. Annabelle, an precocious fourth-grader, is having some adjustment issues, both with the death of her father, and the change in her living situation. Maggie, Anabelle's teacher, volunteers to be her nanny for six weeks during the summer break. When Maggie gives Vane a comforting hug, he begins to feel things he doesn't want to think about. These two are complete opposites, and yet they complement each other in every way. When it's time for Maggie to leave, they both have decisions to make. I love this book - two characters who find they have wonderful chemistry once they loosen up and really listen to the other. I didn't like Vane a lot in the beginning, but he learned how to truly put Annabelle's needs above his own. I'm looking forward to the next set of books from this author.

This is book three in the McClellan Billionaires series. This is Vane's story. Vane is similar to his brothers in that he always had money but he also works incredibly hard to be successful. He like focus is his architecture firm. Until one day his life is flipped upside down when he becomes the legal guardian to Annabelle, his late cousin's daughter. Vane feels like he has been thrown into the deep end with no water wings. Then he meets Annabelle's teacher, Maggie when she bring Annabelle to Vane's summer home. This is just supposed to be a drop off but Vane convinces Maggie to stay the summer as Annabelle's nanny. This becomes the summer of surprises, good or bad? This will depend on a few things, the first and foremost, can you love your total opposite mate? Is the risk of crossing that line work the gamble of upsetting the balance? Enjoy this entertaining read on how Vane, Annabelle and Maggie attempt to figure it all out over summer break. Enjoy!

Another fantastic story by Leslie North I’ve only read a couple of her books and they are all wonderful sexy stories and this one is no exception. Bane is a business man who’s suddenly become a guardian to Annabelle he doesn’t know a thing about looking after kids and he needs help so in steps Maggie. Maggie is Annabelle’s teacher she lives a foot loose and fancy free life never staying long enough to put down any roots so when Maggie calls Vane about a school trip for Annabelle he says that she can’t go because they are going to his family’s summer home while his place is being renovated so Maggie offers to drop Annabelle off after the trip and Vane agrees. When Maggie arrives with Annabelle at the summer home they are instantly attracted to each other and Maggie gets stuck there overnight by a storm so Vane asks Maggie if she will be Annabelle’s nanny until her next job comes up and Maggie agrees. But will they do anything about their attraction or when the time is up will Maggie move on?. Fantastic story and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.

Vane is raising his niece after his cousin passes from cancer. Vane and Annabelle are going through a rough adjustment living together. Maggie is Annabelle's teacher and worries about her. She convinces Vane to let her bring Annabelle home after a school trip so she will have a chance to say goodbye to her friends. When they arrive at the house Maggie ends up staying with them when a storm starts and floods the roads. Sparks fly between her and Vane even when they try to keep from acting on their attraction. Maggie ends up staying on as a nanny after she witnesses Annabelle having night terrors. Will Vane be able to convince Maggie to give up her traveling ways to stay with them?

This is a great story and once I started it I couldn't put it down. The chemistry between them is blazing hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

My first instinct is to say, “there’s a lot going on in this book”, but there really isn’t that much. The story itself is quite straightforward. I think why I feel there’s so much going on is all the different layers of emotional depth that are touched on. The emotions are complex and tangled, dealing with life, loss, love, and moving on. Vane was probably my favorite character. He’s trying so hard to do his best, be his best, for this little family that he’s suddenly a part of. I loved him almost immediately. Annabelle and Maggie tugged hard at my sympathies. Annabelle for having lost her parents at such a young age, and Maggie for having a parent that skewed her view of the world. The ending was perfect and adorable. I’m sad to see my time with the McClellan boys has come to an end.

Annabelle became ward of Vane and being a bachelor he tried the best he could. Her teacher Maggie called Vane to come in for a parent teacher conference. Vane told Maggie he was taken to his house that he was renovating. Maggie winds up being Annabelle’s nanny but she told Vane it had an expiration date. Maggie was scheduled move to Alaska to teach. Vane tries to stop thinking about Maggie he was her boss and Annabelle’s nanny. Maggie and Vane get together but she still was going to leave. The morning she gets to leave she runs into Vane and instead of him saying he would like her stay he just talked about how she was good for Annabelle. Maggie set her friend up to be the new nanny. Will Maggie leave for Alaska?

Helping Each Other To Find Home
by Korkoi

This book will make you laugh, cry or have your heart racing, with each page you read. Vane is a single, young billionaire, who is having to deal with his own grief of losing his favourite cousin, whilst raising his cousin’s daughter, Annabelle, who is also dealing with her grief of losing her father. This is more like the blind leading the blind. Vane makes an offer to Annabelle’s teacher Maggie, to be her nanny for the summer and this offer, changes all three lives in an unexpected and enjoyable way. The sizzling chemistry between Vane and Maggie, the painful manifestation of Annabelle’s grief, the cooky contractor without a filter of his word and their interesting adventures together, makes this story a definite must read.

Fun & enjoyable read. Characters smoothly ease into a more than friends relationship which of course leaves them insecure about the end result. Love how this billionaire handles himself and his situation. He is so easy going, compassionate and focused on the care of his niece. She is more of a free spirit, or is she, her actions are very realistic because sometimes we are who we think we are supposed to me based on our childhood experiences. Life is about choice and finding the road that best suits you not the real/perceived expectations of others. Easier said than done however this story is very well written and don't be surprised that it may even open the doors for some soul searching. I love it when a romance is a heart-warming ever after but also has a little realistic depth in the plot.
