Skotan warriors know how to roll with the punches. But nothing prepared him for the impact of meeting his mate.
All Cazak wanted was a simple life. Well, as simple as you could get when you were stranded on an alien planet that seemed to be under constant attack.
Beautiful, headstrong and sensitive, Sibyl is desperate to break free from her artificial life, but there's no one she can turn to for help.
When her father becomes possessed by the Ancient Enemies, her safety rests in the massive red, scaled hands of one of the alien warriors.
As her life crumbles around her, can she trust him to see who she really is behind the facade?
Cazak is the sixteenth book in the Conquered World science fiction romance series. Each book features the romance of a new couple, with alpha male alien warriors and women who don't put up with their nonsense. No cheating, no cliffhangers, HEA guaranteed!
Cazak was amazing. It hit my emotions quite a few times. Ok I'm not gonna lie, I cried a little bit reading their story (I'm emotional! don't jugde me!) It has plenty of the danger and excitement I've come to expect in this series but this one also really packed a punch on the emotions and upsets.
Cazak is rough and tough and keeps people at a distance to guard himself from possible rejection but he finds it too hard to keep up once Sybil pushes herself into his life.
Sybil hasn't had it easy and to cope with her own problems and has turned to partying as a distraction from reality. That doesn't last long when her now sobering reality comes crashing down. At least through this she finds a support and comfort with Cazak. Together they become stronger and are oh so perfect for one another.
They are still having problems with the anti alien humans and possessions but now they are hopefully getting closer to understanding what is happening and maybe will find a way to help soon. Some major things are happening (no spoilers) and I can't wait for the next book to find out more. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
I really do love my aliens males big, red and tough! Cazak is a scared warrior that has spent most of his life fighting. He believes he's too ugly and beaten up to find a woman who will find him attractive. Sybil is a politicians daughter who although is smart, generous and kind lacks focus and purpose. She spends a lot of time partying and avoiding the read world. Until he father starts to go through some horrible changes. They unseen enemy that was introduced several books ago now has a name the Gorgoxians. These beings are the worst enemy anyone has ever faced because they are unseen and can take over the bodies of humans and destroy their minds and hurt their loved ones. This story furthers the storyline and we find out more about the ancient enemies and another warrior finds his soul mate. Together these two being to heal each other wounds and band together to use all their resources to fight these new enemies. Good book💖
Now this instalment is different. A rich, spoiled h and a strong, smart H who is definitely a cousin of Jalok. I looked forward to seeing how the H and h get together. Instantly one of the antagonist dilemmas is exposed and Elin set things up nicely for what this story is going to be all about. Bless the PM One of the tones in this book include the old adage of beauty and the beast, self worth and romance. Cazak is a troubled H, needing someone to believe. It was also nice to have a budding relationship the main focus and the political agendas on the backburner. There was some great action in this book, and I'm just loving the way all the characters past and present weave through the novels. There was some emotionally sad chapters in this plotline, especially for Sybil and I felt suspense wondering who Elin was going to target for the next story. And right near the end...the plot thickens.... I was waiting for Maki to make her play, but perhaps I got it wrong. Piers narrates these characters brilliantly
Skotan warrior Cazak only wants a simple life even though that can appear a tall order as he is stranded on an alien planet that is under constant attack. Human Sibyl is beautiful, headstrong and desperate to escape from her artificial life as the daughter of a politician. When her father becomes possessed by the Ancient Enemies her safety rests in the hands of Cazak. As her life crumbs around her can she trust him to see the real her and not the facade she presents to others?
I enjoyed this story which managed to have the story of Cazak meeting his mate, more information on the Ancient Enemy and a little more about how that Ancient Enemy was affecting the society on that planet. I loved level headed Cazak who definitely loosened up a little when he met his mate even though he still remained steadfast and very logical in who Sibyl was and how to help her. Easy to read and understand. Contains some sexual content.
Let me start off by saying that this book has a truly unique plot. In 2000 books, I’ve read in my lifetime, I’ve never read anything like it. Having said that, most of the books did not have a lot of plot development. They happened every few books or so. The couples would meet and fall in love within 2 to 3 days and suddenly they’re all life partners which I find extremely hard to believe and doesn’t allow you to get to know the characters as fully as You could/should. So I hope she works on that. This book set could’ve been so much more than it was. As I previously mentioned, the plot was unique, and I would have loved to see more of it In all of the books. My chapter review is below. Negative means little to no plot development and plus equals plot development. And the plus and minus mean there was a little bit of plot development, but not a lot. Are you confused?
- 1 to 8 + Book 9, 10, 11, 12 - book 13, 14 +15 +- book 16, 17 + book 18
I received an ARC edition of this book from the author.
Although this story does a lot to advance our knowledge of the current enemy that our heroes must face, I thought the romance was a bit lacking. Cazak was okay as a character. He is dedicated to his life as a soldier, though finding himself jealous of his teammates that are finding love in their new home. Sibyl is a party girl, and though she is capable of being something more I'm not sure I ever really saw her as more. I wish we got to see a bit more change with her rather than simply seeing her react to circumstances. She just seemed to be a vehicle to advance the plot with the new enemy. Maybe if we had known her from previous books, if I was more invested in her story I would have cared more about the plot, but she was just too bland and so I didn't feel invested in what happened to Sibyl.
Book 16 in the Conquered World series and still the mystery, suspense and drama surrounds the Vengeance crew and doesnt seem to be going away...the ancient enemies are slowly taking over. In this book we meet Cazak a Skotan that keeps to him self and does his job as is expected from him but when he meets Sybil he starts feeling things he never would happen to him......anyway why would Sybil be interested in a mutilated alien? ......
This book actually had me very emotional and i did cry.......hmmmm.......i really recommend this series to all lovers of scifi romances as not only are the relationships that form heart warming but the stories are filled with action, intrigue and suspense and will have you looking fwd to the next book in this fantastic series.
A new villain is introduced, Gorgoxians. This story doesn't spend much time on Cazak and Sibyl. They meet, secret attraction, talk, head for bed, and fall in love. Really this book is about humans being possessed by the Ancient Enemies. If you're a fan of this series, you'll enjoy the book. Hopefully the next book's characters will not be so predictable and rushed.
A Fantastic Sci-Fi Romance . I volunteered to read and review an advanced readers copy of Cazak. I really enjoyed reading Cazak. This story is book sixteen in The Conquered World series . This is one of my favorite Sci-Fi Romance series . The characters are great , it's full of action and suspense .The crew are fighting a new enemy . The Ancient Enemies . Things are getting more intense and this enemy is invisible maybe the most dangerous yet . I highly recommend taking the time to read this and story and enjoying .
This book advances the story of the Conquered World. For some reason I felt Sybil's parts were written by someone besides the author. It just didn't flow as easily. Cazak chapters were smooth, the alien writing that's normally seen. The story was good and leads to the next story. I'm looking forward to the next book and I really like this series of books.
It seem as each book comes along; they meet more challenges for their survival and happiness? You won't be disappointed in any way because it has action, adventure, mystery, love, and steamy hot romance with awesome characters. Waiting anxiously for the next book in the series and definitely a must buy!
This story was a tad darker than the others but as grim as it was, it had to be told to see the evil of the enemy. The couple were amazing. A Version of the princess and the beast but so heartwarming. It reminded me while reading this of how hope is a human characteristic that gives us such strength.
I've read the books in this series and really like them. They have great characters and the science info in the books is explained so that I can understand what is happening. I'm not very good with scientific community but can understand what is happening.
Cazak and Sybil was a great story. This one really kept me on my toes! Their relationship was slow to start but came together when they needed each other the most.
Cazak is a scared warrior and Sybil is a rich socialite who finds herself attracted to Cazak. The aliens who cause problems possess humans with relative impunity and kill the hosts. The romance is lovely but the feeling of hopelessness is insidious.
This was a lot more brutal than previous books. Poor Sybil has it rough. I am glad we're getting somewhere in the overall plot though. I like this series, but it's time to wrap it up.
