I received this book for an honest review from the author. Thank you, Ivan Scott!

Sarah is a surgeon and when she loses a patient she feels that she is responsible for his death even if she made all she could. Because she loses her patient, she decided to give up in her profession and to become a driver. For a while she was in a dark place, her new job helps her to move forward.

Give back to the world with the gifts you have been given. Love with all your heart and never hold back. When your head hits the pillow at night, rest easy knowing you couldn’t do anything more. And when you wake up the next morning, tell yourself you are going to be even better.

When Sarah meets Billy and becomes her client for twenty-four hours and they become friends. Billy believes in Sarah and he wants Sarah to go back to become a surgeon and to believe again in herself. For twenty-four hours, Billy shows her a new world and convinces her to believe again in magic and love. Billy helps her to live a better life and to enjoy life again without regrets.

William, when I was in medical school, I was told something I never forgot. God gave us the tools to fix anything, but God is the only one who can fix everything.

Sarah helped Billy to let the guilt that he carried around for years and to help him understand that sometimes we can’t save someone.

I liked the friendship between Sarah and Billy and the banter between them. I enjoyed Redhead in a Blue Convertible.

When a surgery goes wrong, Sarah beats herself up to the point that she quits being a surgeon. The years of her mother's verbal abuse that she would never be good enough has warped her thinking, and so she finds herself driving patients to the hospital instead of operating on them. Enter Billy, a friend of a fellow surgeon who wants to pay Sarah for 24 hours of her time, but not in the Pretty Woman kind of way, he just wants to help her find her way back to everything she's lost.

While I did find the story a little slow at times, I thought this was a fun read. I wanted to be mad at Scott over the ending, but I just can't, because I think the 24 hours spent between Billy and Sarah were pretty great. I felt bad for Sarah, a victim of verbal abuse her whole life, who has such an honorable and tough career, who is held back by her mother's voice in her head. I loved Billy and I loved watching all the good he did for others, he touched countless lives. This is definitely a hidden gem that is well-written and inspiring.

This was such a fun, quick read! I especially loved the characters and how likable they were. The banter between Sarah and Billy was really engaging and entertaining and had me chuckling to myself quite a bit.

Even though there were a lighthearted moments in this book, there were also some heavier topics covered as well. This wasn’t something that I was expecting going into this story and it definitely tugged at my heartstrings here and there.

With the perfect combination of romance, mystery, and action this makes for a very fun yet impactful story.

I received this book for free from the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you so much to Ivan Scott for this opportunity, it was an absolute pleasure to read and review.

Trigger Warnings: graphic descriptions of a medical procedure, implied self harm, references to suicide, sexual themes

In Redhead in a Blue Convertible our protagonist is Sarah Farnsworth, a British redhead who works as a heart surgeon at a hospital in America and is considered the best at her job until the day when a patient dies on her operating table. She spirals into a deep depression and the trauma from what happened coupled with her mothers berating (as nothing Sarah does will ever be good enough) causes her to lose confidence in her skills and results in a crippling phobia of the operating room. Now she is reduced to driving around patients for the hospital.

One day she receives a tempting offer that is too good to refuse from the enigmatic William "Billy" Caldwell. All she has to do is drive around for 24 hours in exchange for a huge sum of money. A lot can happen in 24 hours and we join Sarah on her journey as she rediscovers love, her confidence and her joy for life.

I loved the characters in this book! They were all so likeable and each of them had such a good sense of humour which made for a really fun read. Everyone knows how much I love jokes and especially puns and this book had plenty throughout. Plus some really great pop culture references!

Sarah is a funny, kind and sarcastic character. I love how the author showed this side of her as well as her depression. It is so important to remember that even though someone can be smily and joking on the outside, they can be hurting/drowning on the inside. Throughout the book we get to see Sarah's attitude to life change as she remembers the more positive things about life and what she has to live for.

On the other hand, we have Billy who matches Sarah's personality brilliantly. They are so similar in many ways but still retain their individuality.
Billy is charming, wise and shrouded in mystery. The reader is treated to little tidbits about Billy as we go through the story and can start connecting the dots as to who he his. Although he is stinking rich he is a very generous man and everybody has a nice story of how Billy has helped them. He has definitely lived an adventurous life and it is easy to see his positive influence on Sarah.

One of the things that I really enjoyed was how the banter between Billy and Sarah highlighted the cultural differences between England and America. It is so interesting to me as some sayings that are completely normal to me would make no sense to an American! It is definitely something that I have had to think about when writing my reviews!

After quite an intense month, Redhead in a Blue Convertible was such a nice and gentle read - it was just what I needed! With the amazing writing it's no surprise that I flew through this book!

I loved being a part of this fantastical 24 hour journey. It was the perfect read to finish Valentine's month with a great amount of romance and action. It would definitely make an excellent rom-com which I desperately need in my life!

There truly is a touch of magic in this book, it pulled at my heartstrings and is a really lovely story. I am so glad that I was given the chance to read it!

I formed my initial impression of Redhead in a Blue Convertible based on the book cover, which has a fun and carefree feel. However, I was surprised by the seriousness of Scott’s story, especially the references to childhood trauma. I love how he creates a sense of mystery early in the book that is not fully revealed until the end.

It’s one thing to walk away from a book having one or two favorite characters. It is quite another to have multiple main and supporting characters that are memorable and likable. Sarah and Billy are quite similar in that they are both strong, good-natured, witty, high-achieving individuals who have been forced to face their worst nightmares and somehow survive. And for all their strengths, Scott also reveals their flaws, which made me love them all the more. Other favorite characters included Caroline, Billy’s assistant, who offers a sense of stability in Billy’s life, and Pepe, a bartender at an exclusive club, who is charismatic and over the top while still being sincere and offering insight into Billy’s character.

While Redhead in a Blue Convertible could easily fall into the rom-com genre, Scott offers the reader profound insights about life, and he does it through Billy Caldwell. Although Billy’s starring role lasts only twenty-four hours, it is hard not to fall at least a little bit in love with him. His impact on Sarah’s life is deep, yet that is just who he is. He has this impact on everyone he meets because he operates from a place of love, compassion, and generosity. Billy embodies the idea of living life to the fullest because you never know when it will all end.

Billy is only in his mid-fifties, yet he is repeatedly referenced as old. I didn’t quite understand this as I would hardly classify the mid-fifties as aged or elderly, especially in our modern society. Also, there are references to emotional abuse as well as several scenes with violence. All are appropriate for the story.

I was not expecting Redhead in a Blue Convertible to leave me reflecting on life and love, yet here I sit doing just that. Scott delivers a charming tale complete with memorable characters and an impactful story. To ride along on Sarah and Billy’s journey, I did feel as if I had to suspend belief to a point, but it was entirely worth it. Scott left me laughing, crying, and thinking carefully about what matters most in life.

Recently, I have been reading The Redhead in a Blue Convertible that @IvanScottBooks wrote. Let me tell you, the story is a fabulous whirlwind. To say that I would recommend it to reader’s looking for new stories to pick up is an understatement. You should go check it out!

As a quick background: Sarah, a British surgeon living in Georgia, has a tragedy happen on the table and that quickly spirals her into a period of self-deprecation and loss. While she teeters on the edge of life and death, she is introduced to a new job from her friend in taking around Billy Caldwell, a mysterious older man for a day to handle his affairs.

Ivan Scott’s storytelling is a gem and you feel connected to his protagonists and the rest of the characters, even the smaller ones. The characters were engaging and oozed personality and spunk.

One of my favorite parts about this book was the dialogue. I loved the British quotes, the sassy banter between the characters, and that each dialogue seemed unique and purposeful. This novel didn’t have “fluff” and every decision within the book, I found, had meaning within the story. Some of the connections at the end were beautifully weaved over the course of the novel, which made the ending even stronger.

I loved the element of mystery within the novel as well. That was a huge engagement for me in the story- you were told just enough but not too much as to tell the story and give you too many hints. I loved the mystery of who Billy Caldwell was and how learning of his past and present played out over the book.

All in all, a great read! Since I write YA Fantasy typically, I haven’t been reading a ton of fiction literature and mostly have been trying to stay up-to-date with the current popular novels in my genre. This book was a wonderful change for me and made me want to pick up more adult fiction novels and Ivan Scott books down the road!

I went into Redhead in a Blue Convertible, expecting a romantic comedy story. Ivan Scott delivered on that promise and so much more.

The book touches on losing faith in oneself, the damage parents can do to children, and the irrational fears we have as humans. It poignantly deals with life and death. Once you throw in a little mystery, spies, and lost loves, the book has you captured and doesn’t let go until the last page. And best of all, it never loses it’s romantic comedy roots.

The protagonist is a delightfully sarcastic British doctor, Sarah Farnsworth. She’s a beautiful, confident young woman until she loses her confidence in the operating room.

Taking a job chauffeuring mysterious Billy Caldwell around Atlanta for 24 hours seems simple enough. But the attraction, mystery, and fun were not what Sarah expected. Neither was finding a healing love.

Please read Redhead in a Blue Convertible as soon as you can. This book brings out all the feelings, but never loses the joy of life.

I highly recommend this book to all readers. It is a fantastic, quick read, sure to please.

So I just got done reading "Redhead in a Blue Convertible", I laughed, I cried, I was swept away in it's pages of adventure and waited with anticipated breath as I turned each page. I loved this story and how much feeling it invoked in me. It's been a long time since I've had a book do that. I didn't want it to end and even when it did I was left feeling contentment at how it all unfolded. When I wanted to scream at the unfairness of some parts, the ending left me satisfied. It will be one I will love to read again.

I hadn't planned to finish it all in one setting, but I did. Be prepared to surrender your time as this story will captivate you in every way. As with his other book, Redhead and the Ghostwriter, the storytelling by Mr. Scott is simply divine in this wholesome romance as he shares with the reader life lessons sprinkled with the ultimate advice of finding your passion and living with no regrets. The magic in the story will carry on long past the last page. I anxiously await another Redhead story by this brilliant author.

Sarah Farnsworth's life takes a surprising turn when she spends twenty-four hours with Billy Caldwell, a client whose tightly woven itinerary is far from anything she has experienced. The story lends a touch of mystery and suspense to a delightful yet thought-provoking tale about courage, hope, and love, and you wish the magic of it all would last forever. This first installment in the “redhead” series will tug at your heartstrings, then set you free with a knowing smile. You won’t want to miss this beautifully written and engaging read!

Living Life to the Fullest
Reading Redhead in a Blue Convertible made me ponder two lessons. The first one being living life to its fullest and the second one is to approach life with a generous heart. Subsequently, without even realizing it until now, I have been approaching life with the same magnanimous fervor as demonstrated in the novel. I thank Mr. Scott for his insights and highly recommend this book as it may be life changing.

For some reason, the entire time I was reading this book, I was on the edge of tears! Was it the anticipation at every turn? I'm not sure. Were they tears of joy or sadness? Possibly both. I waited patiently to find out. I almost wanted to get a good cry out, but couldn't understand why. But then....This book just had a way of doing this to you. Enjoyed every minute of it. Lovely, heart-warming story.

Scott takes us on an easy journey between Sarah and Billy, the gentleman she'll be in charge of driving around for those 24hours. I'll admit the story took a minute for me to get into initially and there were a few lulls throughout the almost 4 hours of listening. I loved seeing Sarah come to terms with the fact that she won't be able to stay away from her calling of saving lives for long.
Scott does a good job of creating a charming, humorous tale with a side of mystery. I would recommend this to anyone who may need a good laugh with a few tears. While at times, I think the narration failed to capture the proper sense of urgency at times i.e. Tommy's operation, the audio production was well done. (my full review will be on my blog)
