Do You Know Your Enemies? Have You Lost Your Credibility?
"I am only aware of fear. It so consumes me that every cell in my body screams for relief. My life goes on and there is nothing in it but fear, loss and terror." Retired Army Major and physician Sonia Amon, weak, brutalized and incapacitated travels to Germany with CIA handler Jeff Hansen. As she struggles to deplane she wonders who ordered the brutal attack on her fiance, Colonel Paul Grayson. At Ramstein Sonia learns that things are not as they appear but residual damage from a flash-bang grenade and PTSD damage her credibility.
A continuing story of love, survival, vulnerability and grit from USA Today and WSJ best selling author, Judith Lucci.

Dr. Judith Lucci is an Amazon bestselling author who writes what she knows. She is the author of the Alex Destephano Medical Thriller Series and the soon to be released Michaela McPherson, Private Eye, a series centered on a retired homicide detective from Richmond, Virginia who really can’t retire.
“Before I wrote fiction, I was an academic writer who published research, theoretical works, text books and just about anything a nurse or college professor needed to publish to survive. The differences in academic writing and writing fiction are dramatic. Writing what I know propels me to pull from my clinical experiences, some good, some not and use popular fiction as a means to teach and advocate for others. My books have three purposes, to engage the reader, to entertain them and to educate about healthcare and perhaps, the darker side of hospital life.
I am a nurse and hold graduate and doctoral degrees from Virginia Commonwealth University and the University of Virginia. I have always been a reader and a writer and I love it. I am a member of the Virginia Writers Club, The Shenandoah Valley Writers and Sisters in Crime.

Well, I’m hooked. Just finished the second in Judith Lucci’s Women of Valor series (Dr. Sonia Amon Medical Thrillers Book 2), and I’m about to start the third.
It’s so good. This second one starts soon after the events of the first, grabs you immediately and never slows down. The one difference is that this one takes place in the U.S., not Syria, where Sonia’s own powerful terrorist father betrayed her and caused her terrible emotional and physical pain. Now she’s struggling with injuries, a badly wounded fiancé, and PTSD that threatens her status as a practicing physician. More pain comes as her mother goes deeper into mental decline, and the accumulated stress leaves her vulnerable to terrorists still stalking her.
How does one get through the worst of physical and emotional struggle? Buckle up and find out. The surprise is that there are also flashes of humor and a bit of romance in this tale, which affirms Sonia’s determination to stay human and survive. The suspense and characters are terrific, and the story is uplifting too. Really enjoyable. Five stars!
With her fiance dying from a wound more then likely delivered via her fathers edict--Sonia Amon takes off to Germany to be at his side. Meanwhile she is still suffering from wounds inflicted by her father and is worried sick about her mother. Jeff Hansen is with her every step of the way. Her fiance seems to be doing better so they transport him back to Walter Reid Hosp. He suddenly gets much worse and Sonia is convinced that somehow her father is behind it.
She is not being allowed to use her MD license until she gets clearance from the psychiatrist she calls fish eyes. Then her home is burnt to the ground. She is moved to Jeff's living quarters and she convinces them to move her mother to safety.
She is filled with fear and has nightmares. Jeff gently helps her recover--meanwhile neither of them really thinks her father is dead--Jeff is attempting to track him down. Then Sonia gets very sick--then her trusted secretary comes down with the same symptoms.
Sonia finally figures out what has happened to her, to her secretary and to her fiance who has now died. She does not trust one of the agents who are supposed to protect her--but says nothing--Then she is kidnapped and taken to an isolated underground place. She realizes that not only has the CIA been infiltrated but so has the hospital. She manages to escape and finds out just what these people are up to!! It is not good.
Jeff to the rescue thanks to her faithful secretary.
There is a romance brewing between Sonia and Jeff.
Sonia is over her fear and delusions and is bound and determined to help catch the international terrorist--her father!!
Lots of twists and turns in this one. I was routing for Sonia to regain her strength in body and mind and so will you!!
You know who will be reading the 3rd in this series---I want to know what happens!!
Dr Sonia Amon travels to Germany to be with her gravely wounded fiance. She is still recovering from wounds suffered previously, including the effects of the flash bang. Everyone thinks she is suffering from PTSD so no one listens when she tries to tell them that things are not as they should be at the German hospital. In this book we see Sonia struggling both physically and mentally. We meet some new characters like Dr "Fish Eyes" the psychiatrist who must release Sonia to return to medicine and the various Agent Smiths who watch over her. We also learn the history of The Greenbrier Resort in Lewisburg, WV and its once secret decommissioned bunker. As a native West Virginian I enjoyed seeing The Greenbrier play a part in the story. Bad things continue to happen to good people. Where will it end? Is her father still alive? Again this book has an ending of sorts but it is continued in Book 3. I loved this book. I was up till 3AM finishing it and I couldn't wait to begin the next one. Thanks to Judith Lucci for giving us another thrilling story with a strong but not perfect heroine I can't wait to see what happens.
Retired Army physician Sonia Amon has suffered both physical injuries and mental stress. Her story, told in the first person voice, opens with raw emotions: “I’m only aware of fear.”
Her PTSD symptoms threaten her credibility as a practicing physician. She has a fiancée, Colonel Paul Grayson, barely clinging to life, and she wonders who ordered the attack on him. She also has a fragile mother, Melody, with declining mental status.
The stress leaves her susceptible to the treachery of Middle Eastern terrorists that are stalking her. At times, her vulnerability is plainly touching. “His strength and warmth became my cocoon and he let me cry — so hard that it felt as though part of me would come loose inside.”
The process of letting fear guide her to survival is the underpinning of this book. “I was surrounded by uniform. I told them everything I knew, everything I suspected, everything I feared. They were galvanized into action…” In the end, Sonia is one resilient woman. Delusion Proof.
Sonia and her mother are in poor condition after being kidnapped and attacked by her father and his men. His hatred knows no bounds when it comes to his wife and daughter. They are an embarrassment to him. Sonia returns to Germany, where her fiance is in the hospital after an assassination attack ordered by her father. Will he make it or not? As ever, her former CIA and Army handler, Jeff, is watching out for her. Because of her PTSD, some people at the hospital are not believing all of what Sonia has to say. This book is an emotional roller coaster ride that never stops, lots of action, danger and suspense, twists and turns, shocks and surprises, characters you'll love and hate, and it brought tears to my eyes more than once. It's pretty much unputdownable reading. I loved it.
This sequel to Shatter Proof is just as phenomenal! Dr. Amon must continue to deal with the injuries, both physically and mentally, sustained at the hands of her father. When she must return to Germany to be at the side of her gravely injured fiancée, the horrors continue. Is someone still trying to take their lives, and, if so, who? Even after returning to the United States it doesn’t end. As Sonia struggles to make sense of all that is happening while continually being discounted by those around her as suffering from PTSD, she is once again thrown into a horrific nightmare. Twists and turns abound, some good and some bad, that will keep you reading far into the night. I’m eagerly awaiting Part 3 and you will too!
Delusion Proof is the second book in the Dr. Sonia Amon medical series. I had not read the first book yet, but there was enough information to get the gist of what was going on in the characters lives. I enjoy medical mysteries and adventure stories so this was both. The main character, Sonia, is having PTSD nightmares and they think she is also having delusions about happenings. But is she? It is a quick read and I wanted to know if I was right in what was happening or going to happen next. So, it was kind of predictable if you see the clues.
I did receive a free copy of this book from the author, but I also found it in my kindle library and I am voluntarily offering this honest and unbiased review.
This book start with the "delusions" of Dr. Sonia Amon. As a reader the way Ms. Lucci wrote about it, makes me start moving in circles as well as this character. This book is more solid than the previous and that was good.
The road for Sonia and Melody is not easy. Loosing many things in the process of their lives really screw them. But, their fighting spirits and a Jeff "angel, love" will help.
The author works in terror-phobia and works well. The story is strong, the characters well and the use of different sites make it interesting.
The "saving of many" ...will "save them". Follow this Series and enjoy a good story that I wish it last.
This was a great sequel of Shatterproof. Dr Sonia Amon rushes to her fiance' at Ramstein and discovers he is in danger of being murdered. Due to her weakened condition they want to dismiss her concerns as her PTSD. They get back to Walter Reed and she finds not only he is still in danger but so is Sonia and her mother. Many twists to this story that will have you nearly in tears. Will Sonia ever really feel safe? Action packed with very likeable characters. I received an ARC from the author and this is my voluntary review.
Things are not going well for Sonia. As worries about her fragile mother, seem to get worse. A stomach illness hits both Sonia and her Assistant Frances. Sonia takes her Mother to a place in the mountains, but trouble still finds them. Also her half sister Ester shows up and tells Sonia something about a possible other half sibling. Can Jeff save Sonia and her Mother???
Delusion Proof is the story of life. Mature enough to know that fairytale endings belong in children’s books, Lucci’s protagonist is intrepid amongst the storms that blow against her. Buffeted by the tumultuous plot, Sonia allows love to be the motivation that keeps her struggling forward. Resilience is this woman’s defining trait. A gritty novel of courage, Sonia’s integrity is heroic. I enjoyed this novel immensely and highly recommend it.
The second in a line of books by Judith Lucci. This one and the first were the first books I have read by her and she does a good job with character development while still keeping you on the edge of your seat. I found it to be interesting in parts where I was questioning things and then thought, nah - it's not going to be that and then find out I was right. I reserve my 5-stars for spectacular books so I would consider this book a strong 4.
This book is filled with nonstop action from start to finish! Judith Lucci has written a tightly knit thriller filled with a plot tied together with believable characters. It is set in the present with plot points ripped from the headlines. I couldn't put it down and read it all in one sitting! This book is another winner from Judith Lucci.
Judith Lucci doesn't hold anything back. The story starts you running and you don't stop until the end. Then you take a deep breath and a slow exhale. Dr. Sonia Amon is on a roller coaster ride from beginning to end, never knowing when danger is going to find her, or who she can trust. Secrets are discovered that catch her unaware. What is she going to do now?
The heroine is an Army dr whose father is a Syrian terrorist and her mother a gentle American. At first her father was loving until he became a jihadist. This series is about the struggle Sonia has doing her job while trying not to be captured by her father who now hates jet and het mother. I look forward to reading more of this series.
This was an intriguing medical thriller filled with suspense, twists and turns . I enjoyed the storyline and the characters. This book is recommended for those who love medical thrillers.
Sonia swings from being terrifically intelligent to unbelievably ignorant; and I say that in a good way. She’s projected as a heroine yet she’s vulnerable and obtuse when it comes to her family.
This story was a good thriller. Good insight into how our government agencies work. Sonia was quite a character with lots of problems. Not sure I would read more because it was too detailed and not really entertaining.
Well written and keeps the suspense throughout the whole story....one can definitely feel Dr. Sonia Amon's struggles and anguish when she describes the changes in Syria due to a devastating war.
This is the second book in the Dr. Sonia Amon Medical Thrillers series and it picks up soon after the events of the first book, Shatter Proof. As with that book, this story is captivating from first paragraph and it never slows down but this one takes place within the U.S., rather than in Syria. The lead character, Sonia, is struggling with numerous issues (PTSD symptoms which threaten her status as a practicing physician, physical injuries, a gravely injured fiancée, a mother with declining mental status who believes the danger has passed…) and the resulting stress is becoming overwhelming to the point of distraction leaving her vulnerable to the treachery and deceit of the terrorists still stalking her. This is a fast-paced, non-stop adventure punctuated with brief highlights of humor, a touch of romance, plenty of white-knuckle tension, and enough suspense to keep you flipping pages all night as an amazing assortment of wonderful characters take you on an unforgettable thrill-ride. Buckle up and enjoy!
While I did receive a free advance copy of this book from the author, I also chose to purchase a copy and I am voluntarily offering this honest and unbiased review.
If you find this review helpful, I thank you for so indicating.
The depth of hatred the father has for his wife and daughter is unbelievable, but yet too real for Sonia and her mother. To be kidnapped and attacked as he also ordered the assassination of her fiancé Her world, her very being is shaken, few believe in her or her abilities. Her fiancé is in the hospital will he even live, could anything go right for her, a spell binding series that grabs one from from the first pages..
Love this series, book 2. Judith has a winner once again. Filled with suspense and twists and turns. A page turner. Can Sonia escape the horrific acts of her father? Will going back to US bring her peace or will her troubles follow her? Can't wait for next book in the series. recommend.
