Just Love #1

Just Down the Hall

Rate this book
Liz Palmer’s excited to finally begin her career in journalism… even if it means writing a ridiculous Philly Illustrated column titled “Liz Dates Philly” and dating whichever guys the readers vote she should go out with every two weeks. She’s newly single and she might even find Mr. Right.

If she's going to stay in town long enough to date these guys, she needs a new roommate, since her boyfriend just dumped her. Her best friend’s dweeby older brother Jordan, who just moved to Philly on short notice, should be harmless enough. The guy wants to be an astronaut, for heaven sake. Too bad her BFF forgot to tell Liz that he’s hot now… and off limits. Liz won’t let a potential romance ruin her newspaper gig or her living arrangements.

But a bottle of wine, a confession, and whole lot of chemistry find Liz and Jordan waking up tangled together in his sheets. Jordan swears that what happens in the apartment will stay in the apartment. Being friends with benefits never hurt anyone… right?

Things seem perfect until Jordan finds himself falling for Liz. Maybe, if he stacks the Philly Illustrated votes, Liz will end up dating only truly cringeworthy guys for work, and then come home and fall right back into his bed. What could possibly go wrong?

Just Down the Hall is a full-length romance with no cliffhanger and, of course, a big, sexy, heart-eyes-filled HEA.

Alessandra Thomas is a New Adult writer who swears she was in her twenties yesterday. Since that’s sadly untrue, she spends her time looking back on her college years fondly, and writing sexy stories about guys and girls falling in love and really living life for the first time.

When she’s not writing, you can find her with a spoonful of ice cream in one hand and the newest New Adult release in the other.

Picture Perfect is Aless’s first New Adult novel. She had so much fun writing it that it definitely won’t be her last.

JJ is the brother of Liz’s best friend and they grew up together and now they met after six years. They are surprised to see each other how much both of them have changed. The attraction between them is instant and they find each other to be perfect.

Liz an aspiring journalist in a magazine has to go on dates with men voted by magazine viewers and has to write about it in column ‘Liz Dates Philly’. This makes JJ a little insecure about there relationship.

I liked the author’s writing style but I feel a little more work could help in strengthening the characters. This is a book for days you want to read something light. I am a little sad to say that there are better novels in this genre than this one. I still have to explore the other titles by this author.

Mhmm, yeah this was one sexy, steamy and funny story and I absolutely enjoyed every minute of reading this book! Complicated relationship between old friends/ roommates. Struggling to accept real feelings but most important to tell about them.
Great characters and interesting story line with some twists keeps you hooked from the beginning to the very end.
Also it made me think of what social media can do with people’s personal life just for the ratings and how it actually works.
Definitely a “pick me up” book!

Steamy Contemporary Romance

The first half of this book is most certainly a steamy read, as are parts of the second half. The first love scene was very long and detailed. It bordered on crudeness at times but certainly was not as explicit as some books can be. I liked both characters but thought they both needed more development. The book felt a little lopsided to me, as the first part was strongly focused on the couple, while the second part seemed to be more about the work dating article/contest premise.I didn't like that the couple was estranged for so much of the second half. For some reason, even though I do not appreciate profanity in novels at all, I didn't seem to mind it so much in this one. This truly does surprise me. If you like contemporary, steamy romantic reads, this book may be up your alley.

I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

This book, at least how i read it (via Libby), had a few spelling/grammar errors and the dialogue was hard to follow at times, but it was a good read! Definitely a quick beach kind of read. It’s very smutty through and through from beginning to end, if you like that sort of hot and heavy romance that is quick to be initiated, crashes quick, and of course resolves by the end. I think the characters could have been a bit more developed but the plot itself is interesting and very much giving “rom-com” early 2000s vibes with the main female character working for a publication company and her love interest being that “hot nerd” stereotype. It’s a roommates love story with a hint of forced proximity and it is definitely NOT a slow burn. I was actually quite shocked at how quick these two were to jump each other’s bones. Some of the language I found to be quite cringey, but overall it was a worthwhile read. Very light, easy, and fun read. Predictable and expected though.

Liz and JJ grew up together. He the nerdy older brother of her best friend. She the annoying sidekick of his little sister. Now adults, Liz finds herself suddenly dumped and single in a new city, in an apartment she can’t afford alone. JJ is accepted to a PhD program in the same city and needs to find a place to live, fast. Becoming roommates is the solution to their housing issues. Not having seen each other for several years, neither is prepared for the instant chemistry. What could go wrong?

Just Down The Hall is the first romance in a new series and let me just say, sign me up for the rest! This book was smart, funny, sweet and so steamy I was concerned my Kindle might overheat several times!

Steam: 4/5 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Roommates turned lovers!!!!!!!!!! This book I could not finish, too much sex for me and very graphic. If you are into that kind of story then this is the book for you. It may have been a good story but its just not my type of book. If you don't mind the sex scenes or like them, then I am sure you will enjoy this one. I can tell you it is about a girl who's boyfriend dumps her and she is looking for a roommate. Her childhood friend has a nerdy brother who is also looking to find a place to share while he finishes school. So they end up roommates and the sex starts almost immediately as they have an instant attraction to each other.

This was a cute story! I loved Jordan and Liz and watching their feelings evolve as they spent more and more time together made for a very entertaining story. I knew the vote stacking was going to blow up in Jordan’s face, and the results of that were quite a fiasco. I like how the story pivoted from that point and where things ultimately ended up. Very enjoyable! I would definitely read more by this author.

This was a super cute and entertaining book. They were a little stiff at the beginning, but they hadn't seen each other in 6 years. Soon the chemistry was off the charts! This is a pretty steamy book. JJ is adorable, I love him. I figured his voting for the worst wouldn't turn out well but it was definitely entertaining! I wish I could read Liz's articles because they sounded hilarious! It was cute and funny. The end was really sweet.

This is a charming romantic comedy. Liz is a journalist, who must date whoever her readers vote on and write about the dates. She needs a place to stay and becomes roommates with her best friend’s brother Jordan. There is instant attraction and now Jordan is falling for her. I laughed as they try to figure this relationship out. I received an arc of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is a cute and easy read. I like how it was written from both Liz's and Jordan's point of view. The whole book focuses on developing their relationship and at times it seems it's a bit too much especially in the first part of the book.

JJ was the quirky and nerdy older brother, Liz was just his little sister's best friend.
I like it and I didn't like it, it's not a bad read whatsoever I just feel this could have been a great read if the characters have had a bit more work.
