Heart and Humor That Are far Above Par

Hit the links with popular humorist and golf enthusiast Phil Callaway as he shares stories of friendship, faith, and failure he found while on the fairway. From tee to green and all points in between, join Phil in a celebration of one of the world’s most exhilarating and exasperating pastimes.

Aim for the flag as you enjoy anecdotes such as…

The Itch —A long Canadian winter does nothing to stop some dedicated and determined early risers.

The Backyard Classic —Scarcity and ingenuity give birth to the Airport Golf and Country Club, a unique course with 18 fairways and only one green.

Escape from the Hanoi Hilton —A prisoner of war passes time and wins the battle for his mind.

Prayer on a Golf Course —Will one man’s wish for an elusive hole-in-one be granted by God?

Fore Is Short for Forgiveness— A dangerously errant drive leads to a lesson in mercy.

Packed with unforgettable quotes, helpful tips, and amusing asides, Under Par will inspire you to never give up on the game you love…even when it doesn’t love you back.

I loved this short book and found myself laughing all the way through it. Although I'm not good at the game of golf, I really do enjoy it the times I am able to play. This would make a great gift for anyone that likes golf. In addition, the author is a Christian and often alludes to Christian principles and salvation all through the book.

The format works well in this book. Short, pithy chapters (36 chapters) that enable you to read a chapter or two within 5-10 minutes each time you pick up the book.

[08-08, 9:08 a.m.] Jiminy: Phil Callaway I enjoyed
[08-08, 9:09 a.m.] Jiminy: I smiled when he said I am going to tell my kids they will inherit every dollar they spend and write a blank check and when they cash it, it will bounce.
Is he saying a dollar is not what it used to be
The opportunity today has more dollars than the dollar earn back in the day. And expects great things in them
Maybe difference of peace child in a sixties scoup to the 80's oil to gas energy change in democracy yet the whole to part to part to whole of it is adopted indigenous illegitimatecy on how large her family is.
[08-08, 9:10 a.m.] Jiminy: Phil Callaway also talked in code like he was bothered by Huntingtons, waiting for a cure people will see some other people could take a little extra weight in the family. Others a little more stress, others you wonder why it's not there voice and yet the apparent to parent either from a biopiracy to surrogacy. Looking at passa for who is time in centre's to edge of centre delays still influence control.
[08-08, 9:12 a.m.] Jiminy: Some things he would say like a pun or trick to avoid the question cause bad things would happen. Like a fathers joke, yet often fate is very Greek to laugh at he would say it as a knowing things yet not explaining it or giving it analogy
[08-08, 9:14 a.m.] Jiminy: I think his book is good for having kids is beautiful, yet in any negotiation is having kids is giving hostage to fate.
It's got to be hard with restrictions in pandemic to raise kids. His book seems to raise the cheer a bit. I think people could understand his book different at different times in life to decipher life at different stages

Phil Callaway's most recent book on golf and God, "Under Par" was both light-hearted for golf lovers but also contained spiritual depth and insight.

The levity of the content melding the golfer's eternal joy and frustration of the sport with focusing on what truly matters, Callaway strikes a good balance for the reader to grow in both areas. Each short chapter contained funny, personal vignettes as well as a tip for life and a tip for golf. I consider myself a beginner golfer with mild interest in the sport and the book drew me in to the intricacies of golf and the spiritual parallels that are not always obvious at first glance.

I really enjoyed this book. I think it would make a nice gift for a golfer's birthday or for Father's Day.

I received this eBook free of charge from Harvest House Publishers via NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review. I did not receive any fiscal compensation from either company for this review and the opinions expressed herein are entirely my own.

Under Par is uplifting and instructive. The golf tips are quite instructive and useful. The life lessons are to the point and inspirational.
An easy read with a lasting impression.
