Outback Skies #4

Bare For You

Rate this book

Not all cowboys ride horses.

Jeremy Craig is on the cusp of being named the deputy prime minister of Australia. Which means he’s got to play his cards right and stay deep in the closet. Australia is a lot of things, but there’s no way the country is ready for a gay prime minister. So far, it’s been an easy ruse to maintain. Until he meets Ryan Taylor. Then all bets are off.

Ryan is sick of the Brokeback Mountain jokes. For starters, he’s an Australian stockman, not an American cowboy. For another, he spends most of his working days alone in a helicopter, not on the back of a horse. As Wallaby Ridge’s only contract heli-musterer, he gets to escape any small-town scorn high in the sky. He’s happy up there. Lonely, but happy. Who needs passion and wild sexual pleasure in their life when they have the boundless skies of the outback, right?

Then Jeremy Craig climbs into his chopper…

*** A Note From Lexxie: The Australian outback is always hot, but the desire to be found in theOutback Skiesseries is hotter. There's insta-love, angst, danger, laughs and lots of getting-it-on. Are you ready to visit Down Under?***

Lexxie’s not a deviant. She just has a deviant’s imagination and a desire to entertain readers with her words. Add the two together and you get darkly erotic romances with a twist of horror, sci-fi and the paranormal.

When she’s not submerged in the worlds she creates, Lexxie’s life revolves around her family, a husband who thinks she’s insane, a indoor cat who likes to stalk shadows, two yabbies hell-bent on destroying their tank and her daughters, who both utterly captured her heart and changed her life forever.

Having no idea how old she really is, Lexxie decided to go with 27 and has been that age for quite some time now. It's the best of both worlds - old enough to act mature, young enough to be silly.

And silly she can be. Just ask her husband who frequently has to endure her bursting into song whenever the mood strikes her, feeling him up in public (one of her favorite pastimes), or rolling around in the sand with their dog - a large mutt of dubious origins who causes almost as much havoc around the neighborhood as Lexxie herself. Or squealing her way down the slide at the local park with her daughter!

Lexxie lives by two simple rules - measure your success not by how much money you have, but by how often you laugh, and always try everything at least once. As a consequence, she's laughed her way through many an eyebrow raising adventure.

Bare for You features mind-blowing insta lust and sky-high sexual tension!

The anticipation was ramped up so high, I thought my Kindle might explode.

Jeremy, who looks exactly like Ryan Gosling with glasses, is the buttoned-up minister for the arts and culture.

(Cute, but he's doesn't do it for me.)

Ryan is a “gay heli-musterer cowboy who looks like Hugh Jackman” and happens to have a thing for Ryan Gosling.

(Now that's more like it.)

Immediately, cocks start rising. The men share a rough kiss followed by a long passionate night in the Outback. The sex is hot and dirty!

This is an easy, fun, smexy read.

I just don’t think the MCs and plot were developed enough. Despite the connection between Jeremy and Ryan, their relationship was purely sexual, and I had a hard time believing Jeremy’s sudden change of heart at the end.

Even though this book is set in Australia and includes descriptions of the Outback, the writing is completely Americanized, which is SO disappointing. “Heli-musterer” and “bloke” are as authentic as it gets.

The reason I love books with Aussie MCs is because I want … well, AUSSIE MCs. (Think Ranae Kaye’s work or N.R. Walker’s Red Dirt Heart series.) I am pouting hard that Bare for You is so bland in that regard.

Even so, I enjoyed this quick read and would read another M/M book in this series (or a follow-up to this novella, which ended far too abruptly).

With a cover this beautiful and a title like Bare for You, this book sounds pretty much like a slam-dunk M/M romance. But coming in at about 111 pages, the book wasn’t able to deliver because of what was missing.

Ryan Taylor is a helicopter pilot (heli-musterer to those in OZ) living in the Outback. He is hired to fly Jeremy Craig, the Federal Minister of Arts and Culture, for five days during an official visit.

Jeremy is a gay man in the closet, thinking that coming out would ruin his political career and is hoping for a career advancement to Deputy Prime Minister. He is so deep in the closet that he dates and has sex with women and hasn’t been with a man since he was nineteen.

Ryan is a happy-go-lucky pilot living in the Outback. He has good friends and a great job, but something is missing from his life and he knows it’s a man to share it with.

When Ryan and Jeremy initially meet, it was almost comical listening to their inner monologues about each other. Lust smolders from their eyes and both felt an instant connection. There were even jolts up arms during the first handshake. Both tell their libidos to settle down since there is no room for being gay when you are a Prime Minister. Of course their libidos win and the two consummate their lust under the bright stars of the Outback.

Sounds pretty good, right? And it was! But, take into account that this was a five day trip. Actually shorter than that because Jeremy was called home early. These boys spent one night together and were willing to throw everything they had worked so hard for out the window in order to have one another. Pretty romantic, huh? But this was insta-love, pure and simple. The sex was hot and the emotions were flying, but it just seemed incredibly implausible for Jeremy to throw his beloved political career out the window after a one night stand. Again, the book was just too short to develop a solid, believable relationship between Jeremy and Ryan.

The part I disliked the most? There was no epilogue! And it needed one. Badly. So many things were left unanswered and the HFN ending was unfulfilling.

If this book had been fleshed out a bit more and included a conclusion to the story, I’d be all over it, recommending it to everyone. The characters were hot and sexy and very, very likable. But as the book is written, I cannot recommend it. It was just too short and felt incomplete.

** SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS **

I read the two stories prior to this one so I was pretty certain that I would experience the quick turnabout from lust to love. I have to say though, the instant-attraction/lust/love (whatevs) here was actually more entertaining. At least I was able to watch it unfold from the beginning -- whereas in book #1, the flirting happened off page, and in book #2 the couple sort of had history before they met again.

One thing to note, I found this line (in the beginning when Jeremy and Ryan set eyes on each other for the first time) to be really funny and set up the tone of my enjoying the whole story: light and easy.

A tightening sensation bloomed in the very pit of his gut, radiating through his groin to his balls. Balls suddenly heavier and more…there than they had been a second ago.

(My mind imagining hanging balls!)

We had quite a lot of descriptions of both men's c*cks getting hard/throbbed/twitched/rigid/engorged, numerous sexual thoughts, and few innuendos being hurled back and forth. But the actual horizontal tango between Ryan and Jeremy didn't happen until almost 2/3rd of the book (it lasted for a chapter and a half!). Timeline wise, it happened within couple of days after they met for the first time. But maybe I could forgive them since Jeremy said that he hadn't had sex with a man since he was nineteen, and until "Ryan came into his life" he never felt the need to risk it (*yes, I snickered a bit there*). I guess all those sexual needs to go out somewhere as turbulent as a geyser *lol*.

Then of course, we had the Hollywood-type of ending where Jeremy -- after being so careful all these years -- were willing to risk everything, his political career most especially, coming out for someone whom he only spent one night with and knew only less than a week. Must so magical, that Australian outback ...

Look, it's not exactly a life-changing or the greatest story I've read. But I needed something easy and this fit like a glove; I'm being all understanding and jovial about it ^^

Slick's review posted at Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews

One thing I love about Lexxie Couper's work is characters who have appeared as secondary characters in other books seem to show up and get their own story at some point and in Bare For You we see Jeremy Craig the esteemed Minister of Arts and Culture and the man who fought for Natalie's affection in Getting Played (Heart of Fame Book 7) get his own happily ever after but we also find that Jeremy has been hiding a big part of himself for years and meeting Ryan Taylor an Australian stockman and heli-musterer makes him understand everything he's denied himself. The funny moments, the poignant moments and the amazingly steamy and sexy moment all rolled together make this one fantastic little story from beginning to end.

Two men from very different lives find themselves immediately attracted to one another the moment they meet. I love that instant attraction and the intensity that it brings when a couple knows they don't have a lot of time and that no matter how much they want it a future together is uncertain. Jeremy has a job in Parliament and he's on track to become the next Deputy Prime Minister and eventually Prime Minister; he's been closeted all his life but meeting Ryan made him begin to question everything about his life and what he wants from it. Ryan wants to find a guy that he can have a long term committed relationship with but living in the outback his choices have been limited and while he knows getting involved with Jeremy will only bring heartache he can't stay away from what he's offering. These two together are off the charts hot; the want, the need, the chemistry all adds up to some seriously delicious intimate moments mostly out in the openness of the outback skies. What I loved most though is these two admired one another and truly enjoyed each other's company outside of their sexy times.

Even though this story is novella length, Ms. Couper does a great job of filling the readers in on these character's background, their wishes for the future and even gives us a glimpse into what's in store for them as a couple in the future. Smart, amusing, and downright sexy Bare For You is another fantastic offering in the Outback Skies series and is not to be missed.

This is a short story about an up and coming politician and a cowboy set in the Outback. This story is fast moving and both characters, Jeremy and Ryan are very likable. Jeremy the Minister of Arts is gay and buried in the closet, Ryan is a out and proud cowboy from the bush. Can their relationship be enough so that Jeremy can face his fears and come out? When the offers come to become deputy prime minister of Australia, will Ryan be a one night stand, or is Jeremy ready to go the distance?

This book is part of a series but I read it as a standalone.  I didn't feel not reading the first two changed my experience with this story.  In this novella we get a closeted politician and a gorgeous heli-musterer.  So many things could go wrong with this equation.

Jeremy Craig knows politics and for this reason he has chosen to stay in the closet.  Even though it's taking a toll on him personally.   He's determined with this decision until he meets Ryan his heli-chauffeur for the week.  Ryan is tired of closeted men so when he meets Jeremy he tries to keep him at arms length knowing this could be a disaster in the making.

However, these two from the beginning can't keep their hands of each other.  Now that they have a taste for each other is it enough to risk everything?

This novella was short and sweet with a nice balance of sex and substance.  Now that I have read book 3 in this series,  I now feel I have a need to read the first books from this series to see how it all starts out there in the outback.

Bare for You is a novella filled with off-the-charts sexual tension and insta-lust in the extreme. Lust at first sight. It's a perfect way to spend a few hours indulging in a guilty pleasure read.

An out-and-proud helicopter pilot has to fly an in-the-closet politician around to different venues, and each are the other's version of a wet dream. Most of the scenes outside of the bedroom are just a stall tactic as the reader waits for the smexy action to begin.

Bare for You isn't deep or emotional, or filled with bells and whistles, but if you're looking for a sexy read to take your mind off of life, it's the perfect antidote.

I had 2 issues, though. The POV change-ups. After spending 9/10ths of a chapter being narrated by one of the characters, all of the sudden a few paragraphs would be by the other main character, to the point I became lost and had to reread. A few times it went back and forth, and I had to read a few paragraphs to discern who was narrating. A few extra spaces to give the readers a heads up would have sufficed, something to differentiated versus reading a passage twice while thinking, "huh?". My second issue: the amount of times on a page referencing the state of their cocks. I understood they both thought the other was hot, but that piece of man meat was used as a barometer of lust several times per page, & they were LUSTY fellows with a healthy appetite. It was a turn off of redundancy.

I enjoyed the read, but I'm not sure if I will remember it after I begin something else. However, I was entertained.

| M/M romance | Contemporary romance | Politics | Outback | Pilot | Hot & Steamy | Guilty Pleasure read | Forgettable yet enjoyable.

Recommended: M/M romance and erotic fans who love a great, sexy novella.
Would I read more of this series: this series and this author are new-to-me, & I read this novella as a standalone.
Would I read more by this author: sure. If I had some time to waste and didn't have time to get into anything too involved, too emotional, and wanted something hot, in a heartbeat.

I really enjoyed this book, I’ve read one other of Lexxie Couper’s M/M novels and really enjoyed that one so I felt pretty confident that this one would be just as good and I was right. It’s a quick read, it only takes a couple of hours to get through and the characters and story are engaging making the time go quickly. Poor Ryan, he’s an openly gay man in the outback where openly gay men are sparse. His love life is in the toilet and it is not looking like it will get any better. At least he has a weeklong easy gig coming up shuttling around some politician. Jeremey has a secret, he’s a gay politician, he is convinced that his country is not ready for a gay man in office so he’s locked the door on that part of himself for most of his life. He’s resigned himself to that fate until he gets off the plane and looks at his heli-musterer for the week. His breath is stolen, his heart races and he knows his carefully structured life is about to be changed, forever. The initial attraction is scorching hot, it practically blazes through my Kindle. Ryan knows the politician is out of reach so he fights his desire but he knows it’s a losing battle. Jeremy knows he’s about to risk his whole career but he knows this is not something he can fight, it’s too big. While the book is short we still get a fully developed story with great characters. Both Ryan and Jeremy are enjoyable, I liked them both equally. I enjoyed watching them fight their losing battle against their attraction but liked it even more when they lost the battle, but I think the end was my favorite part. Talk about romantic gestures! If you enjoy M/M novels you won’t be disappointed with this one. If you’re new to the genre but have wanted to give it a try this is a good place to start, it mild enough that it’s a good starter.

This is book #3 in the Outback Skies Series. I did read as a stand alone.

Ryan Taylor is a very out and proud heli-musterer cowboy. He claims to be the typical "Aussie bloke" who has an attraction the the Ryan Gosling, geeky type with glasses. When he is hired to fly around the Prime Minister of the arts and culture, Jeremy Craig, all he cares is that he's making good money for being at the Prime Minister's beck and call. When Jeremy steps off his private plane, Ryan's heart stops. Jeremy is everything Ryan has ever been looking for.

Jeremy jumped at the chance to officiate the opening of the Wallaby Ridge's first art galley when the PM requested it. Jeremy knew it was a politically sound move. Jeremy had one goal to be named as the next Prime Minister. He's worked for this his entire adult life. He knows that to accomplish this goal he needs to keep part of himself hidden, the part that he hasn't thought about in years. When Jeremy lays eyes on Ryan his every thought is surrounding Ryan and what he wants to do to him. Can Jeremy fight his attraction to Ryan? Is Jeremy's career worth it, everything he's worked so long for? Can Ryan maintain a professional relationship with the fantasy become reality man standing in front of him?

I enjoyed Bare for You. It's angsty and sweet, lust driven and sexy. The characters are written is such a way that you are pulling for them. This was my first read from this author and I look forward to reading more.

This book is one little package that's pressurized with a heavy dose of sexual tension. By all means, consider the first page as the detonation button, because once you open this, the sexual tension and chemistry will blow you over.

Jeremy and Ryan are each other's wet dreams come to life, and they're so different from one another, they're not even in the same zip code. Ryan is the cowboy heli-musterer (which annoyed me the hell throughout the book when he was referred to by this name), the openly gay man who doesn't give a crap what anyone thinks. Jeremy is well on his way of becoming prime minister, he's closeted, worried about maintaining his fake image of womanizer, and doesn't have any plans to come out of the closet and jeopardize his career.

There are passionate kisses, cocks and balls and under-the-stars loving, sucking and fucking and WHOA! This book is definitely hot; steam-wise I'd give it an 8. What this book isn't, is well developed. What plot? What character development? After the sex was over (about 80% into the book) things are so rushed I'm not even sure what happened. The sudden change of mind Jeremy has is not believable, and the acceptance of his sexuality in his political career with no backlash or criticism belongs to the world of fairy tales.

If you're looking for a sexy, hot passionate book with lots of sex, a book without angst or much drama, you'd like this a lot. I enjoyed reading this, quite a lot, but it's not one of my favorite books. It had the potential to be amazing, if the plot and characters were more developed. Also, it needs more Aussie talk, because a couple of words here and there doesn't sell the setting to me.

The author captures the heat and chemistry between Ryan and Jeremy very well and also gives us some depth to their characters and story. Jeremy is a political and is considered a ladies man by the public and he is in the closest. While Ryan is out but doesn't have many romantic options living in the outback.

I enjoyed the outback setting, the intelligent conversation and a relationship between two strong men with well established lives. Ryan's mates were good fun too.

As an Aussie I had a great time reading the story. I enjoyed it so much I purchased the first two books in this series as soon as I finished Bare for You.

This is a series book that can be enjoyed as a standalone.

3.5 stars for this sexy M/M novella.

Minister Jeremy Craig is set to become the deputy Prime Minister of Australia if only he can stay in the closet. He's on an official visit to the Outback and finds his helicopter pilot, Ryan, to be too much temptation.

Ryan is immediately attracted to Jeremy, but doesn't make a move--he doesn't have to; Jeremy practically jumps him.

This is a short, sexy read with two men who find a connection where it is least desired. I liked the idea of the ending, but it was a bit too quick to seem plausible. (not that I'm too picky about plausibility when it comes to my erotic reads!) They only spend a night together, but it's a life-changing night. Naturally, I thought this would turn out to be THORN BIRDSy, and it was a little, but not for long.

Expect the steam. Enjoy the HEA. Love the love.

When I requested this for review, I wasn't aware that it was the third book in Lexxie Couper's Outback Skies series or that the first two were M/F romances, which was lucky in a way. Had I known, I probably wouldn't have requested it and I would have missed out on an excellent, if slightly naive story.

The level of pure heat in this novella is incredible. Couper gives us two lovely characters and brings them together in such irresistible circumstances. The story doesn't have much in the way of character development, not when it starts out with two MCs quite close to perfection, and it doesn't have much of a plot, but it's heartwarming, endearing and just plain hot.

While the whole thing might be a bit idealistic, it's nevertheless a wonderful way to spend a couple of hours. The Aussie setting and glimpses of a different culture are just an added plus. Recommended.

I am a big fan of Ms Couper's writing and her ability to ramp up the heat and the passion in a very short number of pages. Whatever pairing, or trio that she imagines, the story and the passion grab the attention and it is almost impossible to stop reading until the end.

Highly recommended for anyone who wants a hot, entertaining read with lust coming off the page. The guys are vividly described, and utterly imaginable (swoon). Looking forward to reading some more in this series.

Reviewed for Prism Book Alliance

First things first, Bare for You is part of a mixed coupling series. I have not read the first two titles in the series (which are both M/F, I believe). However, Bare for You stands just find on its own as a fully encompassed story. To be honest, I couldn't even tell you if the "other couples" showed up in it or not. I was too focused on Jeremy and Ryan.

Oh Lexxie, you did it again.

All I can tell you guys is that this book was hella good. It was so good, in fact, that I couldn’t put it down and yelled at my husband to go away until I was finished reading. I’m not even joking, but then again he’s used to this by now. lol

Bare for You was without a doubt one of the best books I’ve read in awhile. No it isn’t just because I love Lexxie’s writing, although that is entirely true, but it is because she not only gave us a sizzling hot story with a deliciously sexy Outback cowboy, but she paired him with an equally sexy politician who looks like Ryan Gosling. Yeah, I’m totally swooning over here just imagining it, and he even had glasses!

So these two do give complicated a whole new definition, but not so much so that I ever saw their relationship as being impossible. It was just going to take a lot of work and compromise on both their parts. They do have sort of an insta-lust/love thing going on, but I think they were both at a point in their lives where they were ready for more. Ryan because he is lonely, and Jeremy because he is tired of living a lie just to meet an end goal he’d set for himself while denying who he was inside. The undeniable chemistry and sexual tension in this story is true to Lex’s style, but she bumped it up a notch…or really twenty. These two get one incredible night together, but they had two days of intense build up leading into it. I loved that Ryan has a quick wit and a commanding personality you just can’t help but fall in love with. And as for Jeremy, well, I loved him in Getting Played when he first appeared and I knew he deserved someone special after that book. I’ve gotta say that Lex delivered for him in a BIG way with Ryan. From the moment these two meet, you can feel the intense heat and the connection between them coming off the pages. And believe me when I say it only gets more intense as the story goes on. Once you reach the end, I can guarantee you are going to need a cold shower. Trust me.

I think the Outback Skies series is fantastic, although it does always leaves me craving more, but this has been my favorite so far. I’m always eager to read what Lex comes up with next, but I seriously think one of these days she is going to melt or make my e-reader spontaneously combust. No joke.

I’ve been looking forward to this one ever since I read the second book in the series ( Burn for You). After all, it’s not every hot romance series that can go from standard M/F couples to a M/M one. Besides, I liked heli-musterer Ryan and appreciated his guts for being out and proud. Add in a buttoned up politician and I was ready for fun.

Which I mostly got. This is fun, with plenty of lustful looks and thoughts, and is light and quick to read. That’s where it fell a bit flat for me. The idea of a closeted politician, who has built up his career on the lie of him being a ladies man, suddenly falling for a rugged outback guy who he can barely keep his hands off, all while his career is about to take off big time… yeah, all that complicated emotional juggling needs a lot more than a novella to explore in the detail it requires.

Especially when there’s a fairly steady build-up to Ryan and Jeremy actually getting together, although it was somehow done without ever actually developing the relationship between them (what do they have in common? Other than mutual drooling). Their lust is instant, but thanks to other people being around and Ryan’s own reluctance to get involved, there are quite a few chapters before things get down and dirty. And as hot as the sex was, I found it a little far-fetched considering Jeremy hasn’t slept with a man since he was nineteen…

So this one didn’t work as well for me as I’d hoped. Add in that ridiculously swift about-face ending and lack of real resolution and it became an okay and forgettable read that could have been so much more.

If you’re looking for something light and easy, with a couple of hot guys getting it on in the outback and like lots of lustful thoughts and not a lot of actual development, then this will work perfectly. If you’re looking for a deeper exploration of hidden sexuality in public figures and the strain of keeping such a love secret, you won’t get it here.

I was promised my opinions of politicians might change after reading this book, and well, at least my opinion of one fictional politician did.

Jeremy and Ryan are each other's dream man, embodying all they've ever wanted on their other half, but even if they are attracted to each other, with Jeremy having to remain firmly ensconced in the closet due to his political ambitions, things aren't looking all that great on the long run for their relationship.

Jeremy is an up and coming politician, honest and hardworking, and set to become the next Deputy Prime Minister of Australia, but for that he needs to hide who he is, because Australia is not ready for a gay Prime Minister, or is it?

Ryan works as a chopper pilot in Australia's outback. He's fun, out and proud and has an awesome group of friends there in Wallaby Ridge, even if he's been feeling lonely. The last thing he expected was to meet the man of his dreams or that, even if the attraction was returned, there wouldn't be that much future to anything more serious between the two. I loved both Jeremy and Ryan, they were both awesome, well-rounded characters and their chemistry was amazing! It was lovely to see them flirt with each other and being incapable of keeping away no matter how hard they both tried to, knowing their tryst had an expiration date.

I adored Ryan's friends and being privy of the life in Wallaby Ridge as well, as it gave the story more depth. I didn't really expect the ending to play out like it did, and while I would've loved an epilogue of sorts or something that left me with more of a closure, I was pretty happy with what I got.

The story is sweet, entertaining, sexy and delightful, with a bit of angst thrown in for good measure, and I wouldn't mind seeing more of these characters again in the future, perhaps in another book in this series. (hint hint nudge nudge)

I always enjoy reading a Lexxie Couper story because I am transported to the outback, and the ease with which the author forms her characters always makes me connect with them. BARE FOR YOU was a lot of what I was expecting in that sense. But for me, it suffered by not being a longer story because the HEA was much too rushed in my opinion and I couldn't quite believe it in the end.

This opposites attract story was a lot of fun to read. We have a rough around the edges Australian stockman Ryan, and he's a helicopter pilot in the beautiful and remote areas of the country. He's also the one that's proudly out as a gay man. He meets his match when every one of his fantasies come to life in the shape of future Australian Prime Minister Jeremy Craig. They have to spend a few days together as Ryan flies Jeremy around. Their attraction is instant and the sparks between them are scorching!

As much as I enjoyed these characters individually and together, a lot, my problem comes when decisions have to be made about Jeremy's future. I'm not big on love at first sight and to make such big changes in your life and risk so much for someone you know so little was a hard pill to swallow for me. I would've LOVED to see more of these two, them getting to know each other really, before we got to that stage.

But if you're looking for something quick you can read in one short sitting, that's hot and sweet and features not one but two hot Australian men, then look no further.

Jeremy Craig is about to be named deputy prime minister of Australia. But he's got a secret that could kill all of his political aspirations. He is gay and is buried in the closet. He has worked hard to keep his secret because he feels Australia isn't ready for a gay politician. He continues to live the lie. Until he meets Ryan Taylor.

Ryan Taylor is an openly gay heli-musterer in the Outback. He loves the Outback and flying around. It's a lonely place, but free of the jokes and mocking that being gay brings. He's commissioned to fly the minister around the Outback on a business trip. When they meet-whoa! Sparks fly! Both try to cover their immediate feelings of lust for one another. Ryan knows that Jeremy is in the closet but also doesn't want to hide, so he is torn with what to do. His pull towards Jeremy is winning over his head. When things heat up-both decide to enjoy a night of pleasure never to be equaled again. But what happens now?? Pick up this gem and find out!

Gosh I really enjoyed this short by Lexxie Couper! I liked that it took place in Australia-a place I have yet to visit. Her writing is so good, I could picture her descriptions vividly! The story was very believable and I felt totally engaged with the characters. The sexual angst was there, and the sex was off the charts hot! I could feel Jeremy's struggle with who he is vs. how the country sees him. I was rooting for these two, but felt the ending just was chopped off a bit. I think if there was an epilogue I wouldn't question how it all played out. That being said, it was still a fun and entertaining read and I recommend it!

I always enjoy reading a Lexxie Couper story because I am transported to the outback, and the ease with which the author forms her characters always makes me connect with them. BARE FOR YOU was a lot of what I was expecting in that sense. But for me, it suffered by not being a longer story because the HEA was much too rushed in my opinion and I couldn’t quite believe it in the end.

[Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.]

Jeremy Craig has had a successful career in politics and things look like they could only get better. He has inside knowledge that he is likely to soon be named deputy prime minister of Australia. But first he has to conduct a visit to the Outback, and it's one that should be very routine. Enter Ryan Taylor, helicopter pilot and Jeremy's chauffeur on his excursion. The connection between the two of them happens in a flash, even though Jeremy knows he can't act on it because of his political career and Ryan is sure his passenger must be straight. But a small helicopter makes for close quarters, and things can't simply be ignored for long.

I'll start by saying that while this is the third book in a series, it definitely can be read as a stand-alone. I've not read the two (they're m/f, not m/m) that come before this one and I had no problems at all with following anything in the story.

This is a bit of a fun and almost whimsical (at whimsical as anything with a political aspect can be) romance that is short, intense, and engaging. Things move quickly, but it doesn't necessarily feel overly rushed. And as far as out-for-you/coming out stories go, it's surprisingly light on the angst. This is my first experience with this author, but I hope to have more going forward.

This sexy novella is the story of Jeremy and Ryan. Jeremy is a politician, on his way to being Deputy Prime Minister of Australia and very 'in the closet'. When a chance trip to the Outback has him meeting Ryan, a cowboy, all around great guy and openly gay man, will Jeremy's political aspirations deny him the chance to truly be himself and finally have the relationship he craves?

I really enjoyed this story. Because it's a shorter novella length there isn't a lot of background detail for both characters, but we do know that Ryan is comfortable with himself as an openly gay man and Jeremy isn't. When the two meet there is an immediate attraction between them, and Jeremy's five days in the Outback give them plenty of opportunity to make good on this connection, resulting in some steamy scenes between them. But more importantly, it also gives Jeremy the time he needs away form the political pressure of Sydney to come to terms with his sexuality and make decisions that will affect him long term. I really liked the two of them together, their easy camaraderie and compatibility. This is the third in the Outback Skies series but easily read as a standalone, and I'm looking forward to what comes next! 4 stars.

A Joyfully Jay review.

3.75 stars

While this novella may be short in length, it is definitely off the charts in sexual tension! Ryan lives a lonely existence being an out and proud gay man in the sparsely populated Australian Outback. While he has friends to occupy his time, he spends most of his intimate times fantasizing about Ryan Gosling wearing glasses. Then his fantasy man comes walking into his life, only he isn’t gay, or is he?

Jeremy is a politician through and through. Determined to become Prime Minister since he was a teenager, he’s hidden his sexuality since he was 19. Dating only women, and even managing a sex scandal with one of them, he knows the more he looks like a playboy, the higher his approval ratings go. What he didn’t plan on was the instant attraction and lust he would feel meeting Ryan.

What we have then is off the charts sexual tension as they two men are thrown together in the Australian Outback. This sexual tension consumes about 2/3 of the book before the two actually decide to act on their impulses. I will warn readers that these are two alpha males not afraid to switch it up!

Jeremy is the Minister of Arts & Culture for Australia. He is a closeted gay man, because it would be career suicide if he came out. He's headed to a Wallaby Ridge for the opening of an art gallery featuring Aboriginal Artwork & is staying at the Deputy Prime Ministers home. As he exits the plane, his stare collides with Ryan Taylor, his air taxi during the trip. Ryan is an openly gay cattle musterer in the Outback. There is clear sexual tension between the two of them from the start. Denying each other becomes more and more difficult the longer they are together. Jeremy is tired of living his lie & wants Ryan with a base need he has never felt before. Ryan knows there can be nothing more for them passed one night of passion. Someday Jeremy will be the Prime Minister of Australia! This story is filled with emotion, sexual tension & desire. Can one night be enough to satisfy them & work each other out of their systems. Go along on the journey of self discovery for Jeremy, as he realizes how much he needs Ryan. Lexxie takes you on a roller coaster ride into the billabong with two beautiful, intelligent, sexy men, stick around to see if they survive it!

I just loved reading Bare for You. The storyline is magnificent and you will fall in love with Ryan & Jeremy. I will definitely be recommending this book.

Jeremy Craig, Minister for Art and Culture has a bright future in the political arena as long as his secret is never discovered.

Ryan Taylor, Australian stockman and Wallaby Ridge’s only contract heli-musterer. As an openly gay man in the outback Ryan has always trusted his instincts but lately he is not so sure.

Ryan is contracted to fly Jeremy around the Ridge for 5 days on his upcoming visit. When Jeremy step from the plane both men are frozen by the instant attraction between them. As Ryan starts taking Jeremy to his appointment it becomes harder to deny their connection and when they finally succumb to their feelings what will be the fall out. Is Jeremy ready to reveal everything and fight to keep Ryan and if he can’t, just how much is he prepared to lose.

Not sure why I’ve never read this author before, is she new? Or I’ve been living under a rock? IDK. All I know is – what a simple, sweet, well written story.
Ryan is a funny, sad, lonely charaters that comes off as everyone best friend but his worst enemy at times. The life of the party on the outside but really refuses to let people in and know him, Ryan the person.
Then we have Jeremy, politics has been his whole adult life and because of that he knew he had to give up a big piece of himself. And at the he was Okay with that. Now, not so much.
When Ryan and Jeremy first meet, it’s instant, hot and charming. The way they interact with each other, with everyone else trying to hide the attraction until they can’t.
Then Jeremy leaves, and Ryan is willing to give him up!

Jeremy is Federal Minister of the Arts and Culture in Australia, and on track to become Deputy Prime Minister and ultimately Prime Minister. All he has to do is keep who he really is completely secret. Jeremy is gay.
When Jeremy goes to the outback to view indigenous art his helicopter pilot turns out to be gay sex on a stick Ryan. Jeremy finds Ryan impossible to ignore.
During his trip things happen back home and Jeremy is offered the Deputy Prime Minister job. He has to decide whether to remain deeply in the closet and take the job or come out and turn down the position he's always wanted.
This is a good novella in which a man must decide what he really wants. It also means others must determine their own destinies and morals. Good story.

Lexxie Couper continues to amaze me whenever I read her m/m stories. She sure knows how to write sizzling hot sex scenes between her heroes that leaves them and me panting and wanting more. I loved her latest book, Bare For You, which I devoured all at once. I really enjoyed Ryan's openness about being gay and going for what and who he wanted which was Jeremy, who is about to become Prime Minister and deeply in the closet. There was so much sexual tension between these two as they tried to keep their hands off each other. I loved the forbidden aspect of their relationship and the author had me hooked right from the beginning. Another great story and series by this author.
