The author has some excellent ideas in here for people both starting out in AdWords and those that need to tweak flailing campaigns.
However, as typical for self-published tech books, the content suffers from a major style and presentation roadblock. An editor and a training manual developer could take this from 2 difficult stars to 5 easily.
With the exception of some bold headlines and an occasional chapter break, the entire book is written like a novel. The paragraphs are long and combine different concepts without logical flow.
To figure out what the author was trying to say, I found myself taking notes and creating an outline to track all the jumping around.
Numbered or bulleted lists are a rarity, as most concepts are just 300 words in 3 paragraphs. In the few cases he starts a numbered list, he does not sequentially address those numbered items below. The reader has to parse out long paragraphs where he combines things and uses different terms or switches up the order. Steps 1.2.3.4. become 2.4.1.3.3.2.4.1.ohbytheway8.fromatotallydifferenttopicsomewhereelse3.2.4 in the paragraphs below.
No screenshots, visuals, or diagrams are included for the concepts, so unless you have a constant visual in your head of every single screen in AdWords good luck. I have a pretty decent memory for screens and even I found myself saying "Huh?" all the time.
Hopefully he makes a second edition and engages a helper, because for now most of this is clear as mud. I happily buy the things I read for free on Kindle Unlimited if they are beneficial sources, but this has to be a pass for now.
I think this book gives a very good overview to understand how to launch effective Google ad campaigns with just a couple of days of reading. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to quickly learn how to launch affective campaigns
