Cataclysm

Rate this book
Witch Hunter Cecil Scriven's work is far from over. The peace he brought to Culgrave is fleeting at best. Creatures lurk in the shadows, baring their teeth, waiting for the slightest indication of weakness. The town is vulnerable. It grows even more vulnerable still when an invader comes to town. Culgrave's most unlikely hero is forced to act. To save Culgrave. Or die trying.

"Cataclysm" is the second book in the Culgrave Chronicles.

Second book in the Culgrave Chronicles by S.K. Bronagh just as good as the first. Excellent mystery with just a hint of horror and enough twists to keep you guessing until the end, and waiting for any more instalments of the Culgrave Chronicles.

Continuing after the end of the first book, Cataclysm immediately pulls you back in and sends you on a different adventure with the same intriguing and loveable characters but with a twist I hadn't expected!! Highly recommend this book!!

I have this rule when it comes to what books I read, or at least their time period. My friends have begun to refer to it as the lightbulb rule. As in are there any? Or are there too many?

Honestly, it’s just that I don’t like stories set too far in the past or ones set too far in the future. It leaves me thinking about how bad everyone must smell or they expect me to make far too many assumptions about the direction the world is going.

When I picked up the first book of the The Culgrave Chronicles, Reckoning, I honestly thought I was only going to find it tolerable. That it was going to be something to do, something to pass the time.

I was surprised to realize how much I loved it. The world building within this series is phenomenal and S.K. Bronagh deserves respect for that alone, but she has weaved a story that was able to cut through enough that it dissipated everything I stood to hate about the setting.

And more than that, it had me asking for more and Cataclysm has only set the hook further.

We return once again to the unfortunate township of Camden. The horrors of Reckoning not so far behind them and it seems not entirely over despite the fields of Iyaden. The Butcher, a blood thirsty memory from Cecil’s past, has come to play in this small town and he is striking terror back into their hearts. Along the way Cecil, Amity, and the Whitt family are once again tangled into the messes of this world’s Gods. Finding old allies, new enemies, and more chances for Cecil to prove (maybe) he can win some fights.

I highly recommend Cataclysm to any reader looking for tension, horror, and an adventure you won’t want to escape from
