Winterfast is book four of the Bridge of Legends Series - a fresh new series presented by USA Today Bestselling author Sarah K. L. Wilson. Leap into the gripping epic fantasy story of dragons, Legends, and misused power, that readers are calling "addictive" when you click to start reading today!
Please Note: This series is intended for older young adults 16+ due to dark themes and violence.
Sarah K. L. Wilson is a USA Today Bestselling author who writes fantasy stories featuring practical heroes & heroines in the most impractical circumstances. She loves writing because it is the only way to make a living and give back to the world when your primary skill is an overactive imagination and a tendency toward violent daydreams. Sarah can be found in the outdoors of Northern Ontario with her young boys and beloved husband, reading a book, or fending off her husband's pet turkeys with a straw broom. You can find Sarah's books in paperback, hardcover, ebook and audiobook and they have also been translated into Italian, German, and (very soon) Turkish. Please, do, enjoy the read!
Another highly enjoyable entry in the series. This one comes with a ton of revelations at the end, and one of the most heartwrenching tests yet as our characters grapple with the sins of their ancestors. I love books that carry a sense of numinosity, and there was an extremely powerful numinous moment in this book, and I loved it.
As always, I think that this series, while extremely strong on plot, setting, and theme, falls short a little in terms of character development. Otherwise, this is simply a terrific yarn.
Book 4 and Marielle is free from the clock of Grandfather Timeless, and she is travelling with Jhinn, Tamerlan and Etienne on the back of a flying dragon the size of a city and in extreme danger. Tamerlan and Etienne are both still hearing the voices of the legends in their heads and these are clamouring for release, prying most especially on Tamerlan's vulnerability, his addiction to the smoke which releases them. However Tamerlan seems to be finally realising that these are just using him to cross the bridge and enter the dragonplains to seek their own ends and not his. He and Etienne are constantly at loggerheads as they are two completely different men, Tamerlan is kind and goes out on a limb to help anyone whilst Etienne is pragmatic and out to seek his own benefit first and foremost yet he accuses Tamerlan of being evil and would like to kill him. The harbingers in the meantime have also been dominated by legends and have become their living avatars and are killing haphazardly endangering our heroes' lives. Can our young people save their world without the need for more sacrifices and blood letting? I love this amazing series, and the way the story is progressing and cannot wait to read book 5, the final book where hopefully Tamerlan and Marielle will get a chance at love and life free from Legends and dragons.
Not often I read a book in one day. Now I have a headache and a lot of work to do. But it was worth it. This is fast becoming one of my favorite of Wilson's series. I wish it had gotten more attention when it came out.
Here is another review for a book in this series! I’m still glad I have finally had some time to get back into it. This series is a real gem and definitely needs more love, especially since it is an indie book.
The book is still told through two point-of-views, Mariella and Tamerlan. They aren’t always on the same side when it comes to forming a plan. Etienne isn’t always a fan of them either. He is also too ready to sacrifice anyone as long as it’s not him. Sometimes I’d like to punch the guy, haha. I do think that they all have the same goal in mind. Also, Jhinn is still wonderful!
The plot has thickened in this book and it’s hard to figure out how everything will be set right in the last book. There is seriously so many plot lines going at this moment! I’m glad that we are continuously learning more about the legends. I can feel some sympathy towards them because the predicament they are in wasn’t their choice. It sucks when you no longer get to choose. I liked a lot of the conversations to be had around that and just being a decent human being/friend.
Until now, there hasn’t been too much information involving the dragons besides the basic. It has been expanded on a lot throughout this book. Although it is one-sided, I can see the understanding from their perspective and do feel bad for them. It’s also about choices being taken away. It’s one theme that has been consistent throughout.
Overall, this was another enjoyable installment. Sorry it is a smaller review but I don’t want to give too much away!
This is the first book that I feel like wasn't built around a holiday. They are stuck on top of a flying dragon while fighting the legends who escaped at the end of the previous book. The legends are not your friend and are not here to help. We see both Etienne and Tamerlan struggle with sanity battling the legends in their heads and the ones who escaped into physical bodies.
“Don’t you know, the voices in your head are all liars? Mine are. They lie to me all day long. But I don’t listen to them.”
We finally discover more about the dragons origins and the legend Ram.
“I’m telling you, there has to be a better way to do things than to kill all the pretty girls,” Jhinn said, sipping his own tea." Sip that tea Jhinn! Literally the end of this book proved it didn't necessarily have to be a girl just someone Dragonblooded.
I don't know, I'm normally pretty good in figuring out story plots but it's book 4 in this series and I was still confused about what the legends are, how they came to be and what's the purpose of all. Also jhinn's role eluded me.
Luckily, it all is more or less explained at the end of this book. Now I can't wait to see it all wrapped up in the final book.
Sarah K. L. Wilson is back with a new installment of her wonderful Bridge of Legends series, and Winterfast (Book 4) is everything a reader could want in a fantasy and magic tale. A perfect heroine in Marielle, and precisely the “gripping epic fantasy story of dragons, Legends, and misused power” promised by its publishers. Superb fun that I highly recommend.
Ok, book four in the series which gets better and better with every one. This author certainly knows how to write a good book that’s for sure. I cannot wait for book five to see what happens next. Highly recommended.
I blew through these first four books like the wind. Strong characters. Solid story. I loved all the action and suspense. The fifth book is out on April 7th. CAN'T WAIT!!! Highly recommend this series. It covers all emotions...laugh, anger, love and fear.
This story was action packed and intense. The revelations were mind blowing. Tamer!an and Marielle's budding romance made some progress, which was satisfying. I can't wait to read the series conclusion!
Book four in the series and i still don't know what is the turning points and what EXACTLY is going on in this story - it's a mystery. This story will give us more insight about Legends and some overall info that will be really intriguing and I think it was the thing giving momentum to this book.
Book 4 in the Bridge of Legends series and things are really hotting up. Plenty of action and suspense and romance. No spoilers but hopefully all will be tied neatly in the last book. As with all of Sarah’s books the writing is superb.
Enjoyed this fourth book in the series. Adventure. Flawed characters, Confused feelings. The concept with the Legends is pretty unique. A bit too much killing for me (I’m a wimp) but it does have a reason to occur. Interesting character relationships made me want to keep reading.
Great series also pretty clean. They're is use of drugs for those sensitive readers and maybe the D word used here and there but in my case it was a clean read and great story.
