It's two in the morning and an aging cargo ship lies off the Port of Los Angeles. Deep in the bowels of the vessel, an important man is dead and the woman who killed him is mortally wounded. On shore another man staggers out of the sea determined to save the woman before she dies or the ship sails. Exhausted and terrified, he goes to the only person he trusts to help, Josie Bates. He brings with him a history she can't ignore, a problem that seems insurmountable, and a plea she can't refuse. But Josie is up against international law, maritime justice, a Port Authority that doesn't want anything to get in the way of profit, the U.S. Coast Guard who dances to the tune of politics and a captain who swears the people in question were never on his ship. With the clock ticking, Josie becomes ever more desperate to prove the woman is real and get her safely ashore. What Josie doesn't know is that the sands of time that are running out may be her own.

I loved this series , and this final book in the series, I hope Hanna and Billy are in a future book , and of course Josie and Archer . You are one of my favorite critters, and I look forward to more of your books. Thank you Penny
Fans of Rebecca Forster’s Witness series who feel like they’ve been left hanging for more than five years should be primed to jump all over this book. For those unfamiliar with the series, this can be read as a stand alone as the author includes enough back story to understand the most important parts of the past as they pertain to this latest installment.
In Dark Witness, the last installment of the Witness series, we left two of the main characters, Hannah Sheridan and Billy Zuni, in a strange place. Billy thought Hannah was dead while Hannah knew (or at least had convinced herself she knew) that Billy was alive, in spite of evidence that he wasn’t, but she would have had no idea how to find him if she was right. He could be almost anywhere in the world.
Several years later we pick up their stories again. Here they’ll discover the other again, have their current worlds shaken up in the process, and have a current crisis to survive before they’ll have a chance to figure out where to go from there. This story has a lot of action, is full of unpredictability, and has a lot happen over a period of only three days. As with the rest of the series, it’s also a great read that kept me engaged and the pages turning.

“Lost Witness-A Josie Bates Thriller” by Rebecca Forster
“Lost Witness” is Book 8 in the Josie Bates Thriller series by Rebecca Forster. It’s a great stand-alone book that keeps you guessing. So well done! Hoping for more in this series!-Green Gables Book Reviews
This book starts off strong and keeps going with great characters, strong descriptions, and a storyline that draws you in. Written in a time-stamped format, it keeps you interested while fast-paced.
If you can’t trust the Captain of your ship, who can you trust? A stowaway on a ship, two people erased from the manifest and a standoff with the US Coast guard. Thrilling from the first page!
When a wet, lost young man shows up in an unlikely place, no one is sure what to do. Soon, he is in a car being driven to an address he muttered-and has been missing from for years. What comes next is a fight to save his friend who is hurt and still on the ship in a volatile situation.
Lovers and family can never truly stay apart forever and Josie learns this when she returns from an early morning jog. The bond between her and Hannah are stong but she will learn just how strong it is between her daughter Hannah and the latchkey kid we all know as Billy. Is it a part of the past or is there new light ahead? Archer learns just how strong his wife and daughter truly are, and how far they are willing to help a loved one as well as a stranger. This tear jerker will have every emotion running through you as you work your way through the Lost Witness.
As soon as the new Forster book is out I'm reading it. Her characters are complex, believeable and likeable. I especially like the Josie Bates series, and while you needn't read in order to enjoy, your experience will be richer for having gotten to know Josie and her those she values. It's a wonderful, wonderful series from beginning to end. If you haven’t already done so, do yourself a favor and read them all. You'll be glad you did!
I enjoyed the intrigue but thought there was just a bit too much back and forth between characters. I would to have seen the Tala Reyes character more developed and her relationship with Billy more defined. I had also hoped that Hannah and Jamal would end up together but glad he wasn’t killed off. It kept me guessing what the outcome would be.
I 'vs been enjoy ing Rebecca Forsters ' books. I like all. the characters. Their love, loyalty are relatable when you have known the hardships life can hand out and learned when you are open and truthful you find kindred spirits and those kindred spirits very protective of one another.
Four stars because it was not as good as previous. However I liked the the new form of hours in the day. It was great seeing Billy come back home although in a bit of predicament. It was scary for a while with Josie in the hospital.
I have thoroughly enjoyed the 8 book series. All were page turners. I could relate to Josie and Hannah. Each had a life of tragedy but that hasn’t stopped them.
The Witness series started out strong: focused, exhilarating, Rebecca Forster knows how to dole out details of the plot, holding back just enough to keep the reader enraptured. Lost Witness doesn't disappoint, completing the 8-novel Josie Bates series started with Hostile Witness.
Didn't plan to read the whole series but got tangled in the amazing plots and couldn't stop! I watch for really good female authors and this is one! You'll love these plots.
Another great book by Rebbeca Forster. The story line will keep you guessing right to the end. A good continuation of the series.. I really hope the next one will be as good. Thankyou for such a great read.
I'm SO happy Rebecca wrote another Josie Bates book - I love these characters & this series so much! Well done as always... I think I read it in about 3 sittings - couldn't take my eyes of the page.
