The Apple was an action packed, suspenseful read. As the story continues, you'll discover puzzles, life-threatening situations, adrenaline rushing quests and adventures as well characters that will make ponder whether or not they carry good intentions in the hearts. There is no denying that the cover is gorgeous and the writing was vividly picturesque. The author articulated the plot quite well considering all the twists and turns that the characters had to face throughout the story.
This book radiated an adventure like no other. The magical elements along with the use of mysterious ancient relics to unlock the certain important situations, it was just amazing. I'm happy to say that The Apple is one of a kind book and I'm sure readers would be craving for more by the end of the story. And I can see why this book is winning hearts not only domestically but also internationally.
The ending was unexpected and I cannot wait to find what happens next. A tricky twist that was designed to pave way for the next book.
I enjoyed this adventure read very much and loved the premise of the story. The Sentinels and their Queen Azura have been protecting the tree of immortality in the Garden of Eden for the past 6000 years. This Eden was located in the southern coast of India in the Bay of Bengal called North Sentinel Island. The last island undiscovered by modern man.
Finding Eden was their first mission but getting there was half the battle as they have to get the Apple as well. In this story, I loved how modern and ancient cultures were presented as modern pharma was coveting to discover the cure for all diseases and money while money was no object to find this.
I enjoyed the fast paced adventure in reading this book that kept me turning those pages. Fantastic story line, plot and characters. I did visualize Dr. Indiana Jones in a heist while reading this book. I found this to be a highly entertaining and enjoyable read.
Intruiging attempt at weaving a story on the last land not captured by the "civilized man", mingled with the story of the first man and woman. Almost each chapter ends with a question for the reader, which makes it difficult to keep this book down. Save for one instance I couldn't predict anything about the story. Congratulations to the author on presenting such an interesting fictitious account.
"It's not a creation of imagination. It's a depiction of reality."
Stuffed with thrill, spread with mystery, seasoned with suspense, garnished with twists and brewed with the perfect dose of love, a pinch of humour and a dollop of irony, "The Apple" by Devashish Sardana invites the reader to hop into the remarkable journey through the mythical garden of Eden and discover the history's biggest mystery of the fruit of immortality.
Queen Azura would sacrifice her life to fulfill her ancestors' sacred mission. For 6000 years the Sentinels have protected Eden's mystery and safeguarded the Tree of Immortality. But now someone is about to commit history's most daring theft! And one fateful night the Queen awakens to find a man with a bullet wound in his head and an empty branch where the apple once hung. The stranger has no memories, not even his name. Nursed back to health by stern islanders who demand answers, he worries that if he doesn't piece together the visions of his nightmares soon, his caretakers could become his executioners. As the strange man struggles to recall how he came to the island, Azura fears someone has the means to defeat all their safeguards. And with the temptation of life everlasting, it's only a matter of time before the would-be-killer strikes again. Can Azura and the outsider solve the riddle before Eden's final secret is exploited for evil?
With a detailed description, rich narration, lucid language, swift flow and a meticulously constructed plotline, the story shifts between the past and the present alternately. But the sheer uniqueness of the book is that the past occurs in the form of dreams, or rather, Nightmares of secret gates and a monstrous seven-headed serpent.
Another unique feature of the book is that it accompanies sound effects along with portraying a vivid picture of the scenes described. It makes the readers hear the story as well as visualise it and feel as if they are actually present in the scene.
Humour, irony and sarcasm that clings all through the book has a habit of occurring even during the time of utter distress, making the readers laugh even in a difficult situation and amid the nail-biting suspense.
The book also explores plethora of emotions-- love, betrayal, pain, sorrow, rage, joy, fear, excitement-- everything juxtaposed into an enticing journey through the mystical land of the Sentinels into the enchanting garden of Eden.
The war between the people from the Civilisation and the Sentinels, which is described minutely with great details and vivid imagery, is bound to bring tears to the eyes sensing the brutality of the civilised people who are ready to kill anyone just to satisfy their greed. But the war also projects the courage, determination, perseverance and bravery of the Sentinels who are ready to sacrifice their life fighting to protect the treasure which they had been safeguarding for thousands of years.
Every chapter of the book ends with such a suspense, and sometimes even with a twist, that it compels the readers to hop onto the next chapter immediately. Needless to say, this element makes the book "unputdownable".
Several themes are knitted together in this enthralling book, the most important one being the Civilisation Vs. Nature theme as well as those of the irony of riches and the true meaning of happiness. Other themes like overcoming fear, power of women, importance of purpose, limit of forgiveness, victory of good over evil, etc. are also mingled into the book.
The Civilisation Vs. Nature theme can be observed throughout the flawless narration: how greed drives the seemingly civilised people to turn savage and how the apparently savage people are the true devoted children of nature in reality, who are ready to lay down their life in order to protect their pride. This theme also gives way to the irony that the Civilisation which calls the Sentinels "savage" are more savage, cruel, brutal and greedy themselves. The savery under the mask of civilisation is skillfully depicted.
Another important theme which is illustrated all through the book is that of the irony of riches. Through various scenes, situations and dialogues, the story beautifully brings out the fact how money, sophistication and luxury don't make one rich, but one's moral values do.
The story also projects the true meaning of happiness that doesn't lie in the hands of material comforts but in mental satisfaction, not in the lap of technically active civilisation but in the simplicity of nature, and definitely not in raging wars but in standing united.
The theme of overcoming fear is also a recurrent one as it is by overcoming one's fear that they can reach the garden of Eden fighting with all the adversities thrown into their path; and also, one needs to overcome their fear in order to fight away the evils that lay eyes on the sacred land of the Sentinels.
The theme of women power can be observed as soon as one enters the world of the Sentinels, for women here are given their deserved respect and bestowed with high authorial powers. The Sentinels are the worshippers of nature and nature always values its feminine strength more.
The book also brings out the theme of the importance of purpose. A person cannot ever live without a purpose. Even the smallest of creation searches for a purpose to look up to every day and feel satisfied every night after walking a little distance towards it.
Towards the end of the book, we can see the theme of "forgiveness has its limits" approaching. It is devine to forgive a person, but it's crucial that how many times one can be forgiven for the same crime that they keep on committing again and again, even after several chances of redemption. For becoming blind in greed is a crime that cannot be forgiven more than once; yet the good Sentinels do so and then suffer the consequences. But in the end it teaches: If forgiveness doesn't teach someone a lesson, if it doesn't rehabilitate them, if it doesn't prevent them from committing crimes, then it is punishment that is better than forgiveness.
Finally, the book highlights the most common theme that keeps the sanity of the humanity alive: Victory of Good over Evil. No matter how strong, powerful and intelligent the evil force is, it has to bow down before the goodness and the power of virtue. This is the belief that keeps faith alive in us, and the story successfully proves this once again.
The book ends in a subtle cliffhanger where the protagonist is entrusted with a purpose, a mammoth task which he needs to accomplish, hinting at the possibility of a sequel and another spine-chilling adventure ride.
All the characters are brilliantly portrayed. The protagonist's change in character from being one among the Civilisation in the past and then converting himself to be one among the Sentinels is remarkably portrayed. The struggles he has to go through for the transformation is depicted with wild humour and powerful irony. The most impressive character is that of Queen Azura-- elegant, courageous, stern and determined, with a soft heart lying deep within-- she is the perfect definition of Queen. Her daughter Aana, even in her sweet innocence, too portrays the same gallantry as Azura with her unflinching courage to stay strong in the face of difficulty and overcome her fear-- a worthy successor in the days to come. The other Sentinels too put up a great performance and add more to the humour and irony in the story.
The title is perfect as it is the apple, the fruit of immortality, which is the source of all the temptation of the everlasting life, that gave birth to the Sentinels to protect it from reaching the greed of civilisation who are ready to kill in order to discover history's greatest mystery and commit the greatest theft of mankind.
The astounding cover is absolutely in line with the plot and perfectly compliments the title. It stars the apple-- red, ripe and juicy, along with the seven-headed serpent who rules the Sentinels land and the Dagger that is crutial for the entry into the garden of Eden. The presence of trees around signifies that the apple is still lying in the garden of Eden. The blue background is, on one hand, gloomy to hint at the darkness that is about to befall the land of the Sentinels; as well as bright to emphasize the thunderous consequence that the crime will beget.
Innovative, thrilling and fast-paced with a pulse-pounding twist on a familiar story, specially designed for the lovers of unique puzzles and ancient legends "The Apple" by Devashish Sardana beckons its readers to bite into a spectacular, bewildering action-packed adventure ride through the mysterious garden of Eden.
"You cannot be scared if you embrace the world for what it is."
We all know the story from the bible about the Garden of Eden and the forbidden fruit apple. Author Devashish takes us further on the same thought, what if the Garden of Eden and apple still exist? ‘The Apple‘ is a perfect blend of ancient and modern life and their related mysteries.
This is the story of Queen Azura and her sacrifice to fulfill her ancestors’ only mission, to safeguard Eden and tree of immortality from evil eyes of selfish outsider-humans.
On another side, Dr. Costello wants an apple from the tree of immortality. A team is given the job to find and steal from Sentinels – first homo sapiens who walk the earth.
One fateful night Queen Azura finds an intruder in Eden, a man with no memory and bullet wound in his head. But the larger concern is an apple is missing from Tree of immortality. Azura believes that intruder is the culprit but without his memories, she can’t find either apple or his true intentions.
To find apple, Azura has to join hands with an outsider but can she trust him? Outsider also has the same question can he trust Queen Azura or for that matter himself.
‘The Apple‘ is a unique concept novel with answers to our what-if questions about the Garden of Eden. Despite being the first novel by Author Devashish, this book is an imaginative creation.
“History’s greatest mystery. Mankind’s greatest theft”. This cover page beguiling tagline itself hints towards one more selfish reality of mankind.
However, while reading a few times language seems to be less naturalistic. Also, few twists were a little predictable but due to the unique concept, I didn’t mind it much.
My favorite character is Queen Azura who is a sharp, brave and responsible queen. Her dedication towards her people is admirable. On the other side, I detested the predictable character of Michelle. This novel can easily qualify for movie or TV series rights as there is a tremendous scope of thriller entertainment.
Overall, I would rate this mystery and adventure novel 3.75 out of 5.
Also, I will be looking forward to the next book as there was a definite hint towards the next part.
The book's central theme revolves around a treasure- which is like the title of the book suggests- 'The Apple'. This treasure is based on one of the most famous religious mythological tale.
The story takes place in the North Sentenial Islands, which is a remote and impregnable island (even in real life) as the natives kill on sight if any strangers are spotted. When the Sentenial people were introduced, I was hooked!
Seeing these two things combined made me fall for it more and more.
The way the book is written- its plot, story, language, characters and everything- is hooking! Its a page turner and I wanted to devour more and more of it. It is simple to read and understand. The pace and turn of events were engaging. Its unpredictable and will appeal to lots of thriller and mythological readers.
This is a story that has blended in the famous mythical event of the forbidden apple The Apple of garden of Eden .But here there is Queen Azura and her tribe sentinel along with a seven headed serpent (Saraph ) with this unknown man lying unconscious on the ground .
Lost all his memory but with an unexplained series of queer dreams who is he ?what he is doing here ? This land is yet to be touched and known . But there is the forbidden apple of the the tree of immortality. Dr. Castollo has a plan and Michelle has been accompanying the protagonist. A fantasy land of secrets , Magical trees , leaves that cure you in a second , a battle waiting to break , a humongous monster or a gatekeeper , dead king Arthur and their best kept secrets , puzzles to solve and series of adventures in a land that is only inside this man’s mind or is it an altered land he has just entered somehow ?
Is he the spy of another mission from a parallel reality or he was a chosen one who will help Azure to keep the balance of the North sentinel land intact yet again with all its secrets and treasures of thousands of years .
Lots of answers to find , Adventurous read , vivid backdrop , gripping narration . Check it out if you like thrilling and mysterious fantasy
This book shows how Queen Azura can sacrifice her life to fulfill het ancestors' secret mission and undergo a lot of hurdles and troubles in her life because of often been misguided or misinterpreted by the enemies. Also, it brings the mix of thriller, fantasy and romance. The plot seemed very thrilling and intriguing but little dragged. Characters are well described. Narration is okay. Cover is really pretty and attractive. Overall, it's a nice read.
4.5 stars. This was an extremely fast paced, edge of seat page turner with some surprise twists and a little hint of Indiana Jones. Highly recommend to anyone to enjoys a unique story with some retold history.
The book has thrill suspense mystery and humour with essence of irony and sarcasm it makes people laugh and enjoy the book at the time of distress also "the Apple" by Devashish Sardana invites reader in rollercoaster ride where Ancient and modern cultures collides brilliantly.
For thousands of years the Sentinels have protected Eden and the Tree of Immortality. However, everything changes in one night when Queen Azura protaganist of our story wakes to find a man who has no memories and a bullet wound in his head. An apple has been taken from the Tree of Immortality and to find the truth about lost apple man is nursed back to health by stern islanders who demand answers.
Each chapter in this book ends with suspense that don't allow you to stop until unless you complete it. A big applause for Author also as he articulated the plot quite well considering all the twists and turns that the characters had to face throughout the story.
With swift flow, beautiful description and easy language. "The Apple" by Devashish Sardana beckons its readers to bite into a spectacular, bewildering action-packed adventure ride through the mysterious garden of Eden.
As ending was least expected one it left me with aww and hope to read it again.
Book review I hope in childhood we read stories But we never read stories which are false but appears to be true. The author just marked the illusion with reality just incredible. The way he interlinked the dreams with reality needs tons of effort and it's just not our cup of tea.
It's a story which takes u back to those ancient days of Queens and kings and those magical world where honesty and unity were key terms for the people. And also to the present day world comparison how things changed now the way people minds have been upgraded with filth thinking. It's leads to a world where a common treasure hunter's will power, courage, makes him to win over evil and other magical power's
This story is a combo back of a unsuccessful love story which makes you feel it, the essence of love while you just read it and dives u into supense at every little stage and flips you with twist and leads you to the end and know about the Apple of immortality and garden of eden and the connection with ancient and present world only when you finally read it on whole.
Title: The Apple (History's greatest mystery. Mankind's greatest theft). Format: kindle edition. Genre: mystery.
(GRIPING SUSPENCE).
This novella will give you a Suspence. From the First page you will get hooked by an Apple. The Descriptin and Unfolding Events are Great. Suspence was Really nice i was fully enjoyed my bed time thou 😅. Cover of the book seemed like a Fantasy fiction but trust me it isn't. Queen Azura is a Queen from a Sentinel Island she can Sacrifice her life to fulfill her ancestor's Secret mission. Even you cannot Predict anything from this book. Overall worth reading. Totally a Recommendation❤
Ancient and modern cultures collide in this brilliant, engrossing book, as a millennia-old nomadic island tribe protect the sacred Garden of Eden and the apple of eternal life, from ruthless big pharma, who want to harvest its life-preserving qualities for profit.
This ultimately quite sad indictment of modern society is a book of two halves, the first an intrepid, fantastically mythical quest for the ancient artefact, with shades of Indiana Jones meeting the creatures of Sinbad. The second part, in contrast, is all out war – much more back to the unpleasant reality of contemporary life - as the cultures clash. With some nice surprises and a superb, old-school adventure storyline, it is ultimately left on a not displeasing teaser, suggesting perhaps a potential sequel. Though, reading in the afterword about the author’s tribulations getting this book out, perhaps that will not be anytime soon! The story of The Apple is wonderful and beautifully written… and, I do hope that I have not given too much away.
English is not Dev’s first language, and whilst excellent – articulate and flawless – sometimes the phrasing could be a touch more naturalistic and fluid. But, I am never going to criticize an author for this. He is a wonderful, creative writer with a tremendous imagination, and an ability to weave the fantastic, every bit as eloquently as the grotesque. The proof could perhaps do with a final sheen, if only just to format the text and perhaps pick up one or two other small points, but this is minimal, and certainly in no way hindered my enjoyment of this marvellous book of adventure.
Sure, there is violence, and a small touch of graphic depiction, but if you like your action a little more discerning, and your stories more traditionally creative, you can do much worse than The Apple, whatever your age group. I enjoyed the book very much, reading three-quarters of it in a single sitting. Recommended – and I do hope debut author Dev doesn’t take five years to put out his next, because I’ve high hopes for his work.
The Apple by Devashish Sardana is the story of Queen Azura guarding the secret garden of Eden that houses the apple of immortality. Sounds like an already know thing, right? Well not exactly. Though the cover of the gives out the information that the story would be resembling that of the conventional folktale of Adam and Eve, it sure stands different in its plot development.
The book takes into account the greed of mankind - to become immortal, to break the natural cycle of birth and death. It is this greed that brings two humans to the deadly Sentinel island and what follows takes us by surprise. The story is woven with the themes of nascent love, betrayal, greed, courage, joy, and pain. All the themes slip into the pages of the book effortlessly and create a mesmerizing impact. Yes, the narration is definitely on point as you'd not face a dull moment. There's a lot of action that gets into your veins as you flip the pages and get transported to the other world. This is the power of powerful imagery drawn out by the author.
The book is intriguing as it involves its reader in the story through a vivid narration and lucid language. The crispness of the narrative makes it an enjoyable read as you hop from one chapter to the other. The story highlights how the progress of civilization could not be always measured by material riches. Rather it must be gauged through one's mental preparedness. I loved the thrill, the portrayal of emotions, the discussion of important human values. Though there were points when I felt the story getting dull or dragged, as one would hold on to one's patience, the story would still entertain you.
As the book ends with a cliffhanger, I am excited to read its sequel. If you are hunting for a fantasy/ mythology book that has excellent writing, this one would be a good pick.
A huge thank you to the author himself for sending me a copy of his debut novel “The Apple.” This action-adventure thriller is available now and you are definitely going to want to get your hands on a copy! 🍎
For thousands of years the Sentinels have protected Eden and the Tree of Immortality. However, everything changes in one night when Queen Azura wakes to find a man who has no memories and a bullet wound in his head. An apple has been taken from the Tree of Immortality and this is just the start of this action packed thriller!
I cannot say enough good things about this book! I loved it! I truly felt like I went on the journey with these characters to figure out who took the apple and why they did. Sardana’s writing style hooked me from the very start and from there I fully enjoyed this wild ride.
Queen Azura was easily my favorite character. I admire how protective she is of her people and how she will do anything to keep Eden safe. Her strength and courage flow through the pages and I found myself rooting for her the entire book.
What I loved most about this book is the action and adventure. There were puzzles that needed to be solved and I found myself pausing my reading to try and solve the puzzles before the characters could. Each puzzle had meaning and I found myself completely captivated by the obstacles that the characters had to overcome.
What would a thriller be without twists and turns? Not only is “The Apple” action-packed, but there were so many surprises that caught me off guard! I kept asking myself “How did I miss that?” At the same time though I was so glad the twists got me because they added so much to the story.
Overall I would recommend “The Apple” to readers who enjoy action, adventure, thrills, twists, and turns! Don’t miss out!
Not bad at all for a first time author. Not bad at all!
Its great that the author can mix up some of the usual stories we knew for a long long time with some creativity and bring it out like this. Those stories (Adam, Eve, Apple & God - the Story of the Garden of Eden, the tribal people who wants nothing to do with our world and left alone for good by us - North Sentinel Island in Andaman, India) were used as a backdrop.. and why not, it perfectly fits in with the story-line. Although completely predictable for most parts, it was a good read.
.. and this would make a good bedtime story series for your kids if you can narrate it to them properly in a linear way; instead of the non-linear way the book goes on about. Kids would dig it! plus they'd learn a thing or two about morality, greed and such.
At past the mid point my mind started drawing similarities between the plot of this story and the movie Avatar (which is again nothing new, but used over and over in different versions) where a pure tribe is attacked for something precious by cunning people and finally the tribe wins over with one of the cunning people switching sides due to his/her good heart nature and evolved understanding of the tribal people. As I moved through the pages and on this theory was pressing and it came out to be true - not for an instant I thought the bad guy would win and the tribe would lose; predictable.
Nonetheless the book was a decent fantasy/fiction read and the author has to be appreciated for the efforts, creativity and writing. I'm sure he'd only evolve further as a writer as time goes on. If he publishes another book, I'd definitely give it a read.

A quick GK lecture. "What is North Sentinel Island"
North Sentinel Island is one of the Andaman Islands, an archipelago in the Bay of Bengal which also includes South Sentinel Island. It is home to the Sentinelese, a tribe who have rejected, often violently, any contact with the outside world. They are among the last unconnected people to remain virtually untouched by modern civilization.
now back to book "The Apple"
It's a thrill read and first book by Devashish and i must say he nailed it.
The whole story is about The Garden of Eden which is somewhere under North Sentinel Island (The untouched place of India) i hope you get reason behind quick lecture.
A professional treasure hunter who is hired by Dr.Costello (Arthur) to find out The Apple, the fruit of immortality.
the story starts with protagonist and Michelle (Girlfriend) they try to enter in Sentinel where the whole adventure lie. This book is divided in two part.
In beginning you will feel like something is missing but after few chapter you will like hold my apple, the background about Sentinelese is lit.The way author describe them and other small details is really worth reading.
In 2nd part now protagonist have to help Sentinelese for save the Eden and here the really fun begins.
How treasure hunter help queen Azura to save there home and the sacred 6000 year old secret. which they hiding.
What is God Saraph ? Why Sentinelese hiding Garden of Eden? Who is Arthur how he know about this secret ?
key point:- 1. Language is easy and yet hold emotion so well and i really learn how words play a key role while character express feelings. 2. The plot is grippy and interesting and will hold you long for sure. 3. Research work is done by author for sure the way he describes sentinelese. 4. Protagonist is not build strong enough. 5. The end is so boring to be honest not match the expectation.
Overall a good read but end chould be more adventurous then this.
“It’s okay to be scared, baby. Even I was scared,” “But what’s more important is that you overcame the fear with courage. And you became fearless.”
The story starts when the queen of sentinels Azura, wakes up and finds out that histories most protected secret has been stolen from the garden of Eden. A man who has forgotten his memories and opens his eyes on the strange place. Azura and the man have to find out who stole the secret and why, and how the man came on the island. They have to figure out what exactly happened in the garden and have to prevent future threats.
Just astonishing and amazing. The way the story has written it keeps you really hooked to the book. I mean, you so wanted to know the end that you keep it reading on without looking at the clock.
The story is written so lively that you enjoy each and every chapter. The cover of book is very beautiful and eye catchy, anyone can just fall in love with the cover and title. The title is aptly connected to story makes it more interesting. Recommended to everyone who loves thriller and mystery.
Do you want to know what happens when bollywood meets Dan Brown, yes DAN BROWN!!
For this give apple a try, no other option!
Well Apple: History's greatest mystery is the debut novel by Devashish Sardana, an enrapturing tale of history and adventure. You get to learn a lot about apple, Eden, evils etcetera etcetera. In this book the protagonist Tree of immortality is portrayed as a real hero.
Drawn into a net of extremists, gangsters, drug dealers and evils, , Queen Azure will have to delve into the past, into her sacred history, into the underground sewers of Eden, and scrounge the many historic buildings, break codes, unlock the secret and protect it before every single guardian is dead.
Language inscribed is pretty much easy to grasp and is eloquent and gregarious at the same time.Simple plot, commendable narration, what else do you need!?
Do read this if you are a Dan Brown fan, I'm sure you are going to enjoy it!
The story altogether had a pretty good plot. The main conflict showcasing a prized artifact that could grant you immortality and the greed to achieve long life. I liked the concept of the garden of Eden; the Tree of immortality and the Sentinal guardians of the garden, and the main character; a stranger who is found with a bullet in his skull (who is miraculously saved by the islanders and has lost his memories).
I would have loved it more if the story had more showing than telling which made it harder at times to relate to the situations the characters were in or the characters in general. It lacked character development throughout the story and I wasn't able to attach to any of the main characters. The only characters whose presence felt a bit strong was Azura, the Sentinel queen.
Except for the first half of the book which felt very slow paced, the second half felt way more lively and natural and was more easy to read.
For 6000 years, they’ve protected Eden’s mysteries. Now someone is about to commit history’s most daring theft. Queen Azura would sacrifice her life to fulfill her ancestors’ sacred mission.
For thousands of years the Sentinels have safeguarded Eden and the Tree of Immortality. But one fateful night she awakens to find a man with a bullet wound in his head and an empty branch where the apple once hung. He has no memories, not even his name. Nursed back to health by stern islanders who demand answers, he worries his nightmares of secret gates and a monstrous seven-headed serpent may be real. And if he doesn’t piece together the visions soon, his caretakers could become his executioners.
Can Azura and the outsider solve the riddle before Eden’s final secret is exploited for evil?
When author Devashish Sardana contacted me to review his book I was very hesitant....he sent me the blurb above and although I was intrigued....this was completely outside my realm of genres and outside my comfort zone and I literally gave him an out of wanting me to read this. He knew up front that I may not like this book at all. He asked me to please just be honest with him.
When I started the book I was still in my mind on the fence. Think of Game of Thrones turned modern day. I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed this book and surprised that I just kept going and read it all in one sitting! A twist I didn’t see coming and you know I love a good twist!
So Dev my new friend....you have a fan for life! And I can’t wait for the next book!!!
I am often questioned by other readers on why I don't prefer works by contemporary Indian authors. One of the common issues I find in the works of Indian authors is the cliched plot and not so appealing narration. So whenever I pick any works by an Indian author, I instantly become sceptical. Along with that, since I was a kid, I had been fascinated with the stories of treasure hunting, be it Indiana Jones, Tintin, National Treasure, works by Enid Blyton and the list goes on and on. So one can imagine, how I must've read this book. I knew I had to give this book a read when The Bookoholics sent me the synopsis of the book. And I am happy that the book didn't end up disappointing me!
Sentinels are a tribe on a sacred mission to safeguard the Garden of Eden and the Tree of Immortality. Azura, the Queen of Sentinels, wakes up one stormy night to find a man with a bullet wound in his head and an empty branch where the apple once hung. This man, who also happens to be the protagonist, has forgotten his past and his identity after nursed back to life by the stern islanders. His dreams are constant nightmares with seven-headed serpents and maybe, they might hold the key to his past life. Azura needs answers to many questions surrounding the theft of the apple and these answers can only be answered through his dreams. As he tries to piece these dreams together, Azura becomes sure that this thief will soon strike again. The existence of many Sentinels and the protection of the Garden of Eden and the Tree of Immortality might be at stake.
As a fast-paced addictive entertainer, Devashish has done a remarkable job putting this book together. There are no aspects of the books that might bore a reader. The plot is well-woven. This is probably the only book I am okay with the protagonist coming with lots of grey areas as a character. All the other characters are well-developed, each serving a purpose to the story. I loved how there are strong female characters, each very different and I loved them all for who they are except Michelle. The exchanges between Michelle and the protagonist came off a bit annoying to me. I really appreciate the romance aspect of this book but maybe, it could've been written more realistically since it came off as a young adult romance. Neither of the characters seemed like young adults and they were pretty much in their 30s. There were times when I was reading the book and a certain character or certain scenario foreshadowed some of the other works of the genre, be it a treasure-hunting thriller or a fantasy, but Devashish has done a good job with blending them with the plot and making them more interesting with his own sense of narration. The writing style felt nostalgic to me in the beginning, in a very neutral way but Devashish turned out to be the absorbing storyteller with the very first line! As much as the idea behind this book seemed original for me, the climax mattered the most to me and I am really happy that it didn't end up disappointing me. The climax was well suited and it reached my expectation for a good ending. I felt like there is going to be a sequel because of the way it ended and there are so many dark secrets in the protagonist's past which have been foreshadowed in this book and has to be explored.
Nevertheless, it was a great engrossing, quick read! I enjoyed reading this book and I would check out the future works by the author. Devashish has proved that there are many good authors who are underrated when compared to the well known and extremely overrated authors in this nation except Amish whose works I am a huge fan of.
Rating: 4.25/5 Recommended: Yes, it is a great, original story - perfect for readers who prefer a good crime fantasy/thriller!
Apple a book which I got an opportunity to read it by chance and iam glad for this beautiful chance It's a book every one would love to read with a spicy and thrilling content you could ever have read It's just concoction of different characters mixed together Which make u feel love hate relationship between humans of present days, and ancient times
It makes you know the worth of tradition and value of being together and also how present is way very different from those of past, . How ppl today are greedy for money and long life and how about those people who were known were unity and there power together
It's not a fairytale of Queens and kings its a realistic enthusiasm of queens and kings compared to today's, people of stone hearts . Which shows how good wins over evils

I recently finished this novel "The Apple" by "Devashish Sardana". I have read so many thrillers penned by various authors viz. James Hadley Chase, Alistair McLean, Dan Brown. But, this novel is a mega thriller. I was so engrossed in it that I even read all commas and full stops! Saraph - the God of Sentinels, sent a chill in the spine. I congratulate the author for writing such a great thriller. I am eagerly awaiting for his next storyline.
