The Right Way

Rate this book
After witnessing his younger brother’s death in a tragic accident, Jonathan Nelson desperately tries losing himself on the gridiron. No matter how hard he tries keeping his head above water, he’s drowning in a sea of grief. Compounding his inability to get his head on straight is Presley—the girl who had a complicated relationship with his brother, Jake, and who is pregnant with his child. At first, Jonathan only harbors resentment and animosity to Presley when she moves in with his parents. But the more the two are thrown together, the more his feelings for her begin to change, and the more confusing Jake’s loss becomes.

Presley Patterson never imagined finding out she was pregnant just a month before graduating high school. She also never fathomed losing the baby’s father to a tragic accident. Needing support for her and her unborn child, she seeks solace by moving in with Jake’s parents. She isn’t too surprised to find an adversary in Jonathan, but she isn’t about to let him ruin the first stability she’s ever experienced. Surprisingly, the animosity towards Jonathan begins to fade and is replaced by more amorous feelings. Taking a chance on Jonathan means risking the perfect world she's built for herself and her daughter.

Can the two move on from the specter of Jake in order to find a future together, or will their wounded hearts remain unhealed?

Presley is pregnant and the baby’s father Jake is dead. Both weren’t even boyfriend girlfriend. It was just hooking up and she ends up getting pregnant. Unfortunately, Jake dies after 3 months.

Presley was quite a girl playboy. She was not like the usual good girl heroine I usually read. She had kissed Jake’s brother Jonathan, who is the hero, in some spin the bottle game before she was with Jake. She also hooked up with Jake’s best friend after Jake’s death. She has quite a history.

“I’m aware I’m seen as a slut. I’m sure my sexual number would rival some of the guys I graduated with. While those same guys got pats on the back and cheers for their conquests, I got labeled a whore.”

So when her pregnancy news is out after Jake’s death, Jonathan is doubtful about her intentions. He is even more angry when she comes to live with his family as her mother is pretty much useless. He keeps insulting her.

“Free rent and childcare, not to mention the rest of the money my parents are throwing your way.”

“Maybe you’re a money-hungry opportunist who is going to suck my parents dry. Jesus, after all the guys you’ve spread your legs for, aren’t you lucky the one who knocked you up got killed?”

I never really warmed up with the heroine. If she sluts around (her words) and if she is comfortable with it then it’s fine. But she is calling herself whore and all so it means she thinks that she was doing wrong. And then wanting pity. Either do it confidently without giving a damn or else don’t do it.

The book started promisingly. But I lost interest. It’s a slow burn romance. And a little lengthy.

A big surprise and a terrible tragedy set the scene for this emotional and rocky young adult romance. Presley and Jonathan, with the help of family and friends, face not only grief but excitement and possibilities as a new life begins. Unexpected fences are mended and second chances are now real possibilities.

A really well-written slow-burn romance that covered a ton of feels. A great cast of characters, as well. With a fast-clipped pace, this one was an easy read.

I only wish the author had decided to go a little further into the future with Presley and Jonathan. A happy for now is good, but I prefer a seal-the-deal wrap-up.

A series that will have you questioning what if.

I loved what I read here, it wasn’t your typical romance. Sure it had a happily ever after but the road to that was loss, what if’s and why.

The double standards are not lost on our female heroine Presley, she had a reputation one that’s she not ashamed of. For guys it’s different there held up like gods for woman not so much.

When she finds out she’s pregnant her senior year she’s in shock to her on and off again hook up Jake. Telling him is the hardest thing. But losing him to a tragic accident is harder.

With the loss comes hope, and a promise of a brighter future. Moving in with Jakes parents is a start. They welcome her with open arms. Jakes older brother Johnathon not so much. Still carrying guilt for his younger brothers death, he resents Presley’s presence..

These two will slowly build a friendship and it’s poignant watching it play out. The slow build works perfectly. Seeing Jonathan slowly come back to life and accept his brothers loss as the accident it was is moving.

Seeing them both grow as characters and navigate the world as friends, then more is about moving on and accepting what fate has in store for them as a family of three.

The Teenage Pregnancy plot has been successfully done before, but, for me, doesn't quite work with this particular couple.

Despite the heaviness of their past and present, their thoughts and dialogue come across as immature; the heroine in particular seems ignorant in matters that, considering her circumstances, she should be clued up on. This plot calls for innocence and naivety, sure, but there's a lack in accuracy of knowledge and there's dependency which is out of sync with the rest of the adult situations they experience.

Him: “why don’t you tag along to therapy with my mom?”
Her: “I don’t know. Maybe it just seems like seeing a therapist is something for old people.”

Her: “I woke up and my bed was wet.”
Someone else: “Oh, honey, I think your water broke.”

Then there's this kinda thing:

The ultrasound appointment:
Accompanied by her baby's grandmother.

Her: “Motioning to my dress, I asked, “Do I need to change?”

Technician: Shaking her head, Marcia replied, “You can just bring your dress up over your stomach.”

Her: When my fingers reached for the hem of my dress, my hands momentarily faltered.....While Jake had seen me in my underwear......his mother had not.”

Me: Even 20 odd years ago, in a private doctor's room or a state hospital, one had privacy options: either change into a gown or be covered from the lower waist down with paper towels or the like. This book is written is this century.

The sex scene:
“he began tediously kissing and nibbling his way up the inside of my thigh”
From what I could tell she actually wasn't bored...
So...tediously....? I dunno, hey...

Shame, they're still cute and really I hope they make it.

I think the Synopsis of the book gives you just enough detail for you to know going in emotions are going to be high and you might be all up in your #feels while you read this story.

This isn’t just a romance journey. It’s also a journey of two people traveling down the road of grief and finding each other in their travel. It’s heartwarming and compassionate. It’s not always gumdrops and lollipops but it is real and full of heart.

Told in dual POV, you get both perspectives and, in this story, imo, it is particularly important because of the grief. Honestly, I can’t imagine reading this story any other way. I needed to be inside both Presley and Jonathan’s heads to fully understand their development. It was very well done. I have no idea why I haven’t read a lot more books by this author.

I really loved this book. A sweet and emotional enemies-to-friends-to-lovers romance with wonderful characters and a beautifully written story that kept me hooked from start to finish.

Presley Patterson has just graduated high school and is dealing with a surprise pregnancy. Not only that, but she is grieving the tragic death of the father of her baby, her on-off boyfriend/casual hook up of years, Jake. With an absentee mother and her future plans now in disarray, she is relieved and overjoyed to be taken in by Jake’s parents, who promise to be there for her and her baby girl.

Jonathan Nelson is a college football player who is struggling to cope after witnessing his younger brother, Jake’s death. The tragic accident has left him emotionally scarred and he is drowning in grief and suffering nightly flashbacks. What makes it worse is his animosity towards Presley. They’ve spent time together over the years, but Presley’s relationship with his brother was complicated, and she has a reputation for sleeping around. He doesn’t want her taking advantage of his grieving family.

It’s a devastating situation, and the snark is strong, but it doesn’t take long for Jonathan to realise that Presley’s heart is in the right place and that she’s grieving Jake’s loss as well, and is just trying to get by and make the best life she can for herself and her baby. A friendship slowly develops, and when little Evie is born, it brings the two of them even closer together as Jonathan is completely smitten with his new niece.

I brought my lips to her plump little cheek. “I might not be your father, but there is nothing in the world I wouldn’t do for you. You have my heart and soul, Evie.”

Oh swoon!

And slowly and surely things begin to change. Their feelings are complicated by their grief, by their confusion over Presley’s relationship with Jake, and their fears of the reaction of their family and friends. It’s complicated, but they navigate it beautifully, and the emotions are just gorgeous. In fact I had to keep reminding myself how young these characters were, because they are so mature about the whole thing, which I really appreciated.

I brought my hand to her cheek. “I know it’s so wrong to feel this, least of all admit it, but I want you so bad it hurts.” Shaking my heart, I corrected myself. “I need you so bad it hurts.”

This is a beautifully written story. It’s dual POV, so we get to see how Presley and Jonathan are both dealing with Jake’s loss, with the birth of little Evie and with their changing feelings towards each other. I could empathise with them both, and I was feeling everything right along with them, parts of the book even bringing me to tears! The emotion was so gorgeous, but balanced really well with sweet moments and a feeling of hopefulness as they moved forward, and I particularly loved the scenes with the baby, which were totally ovary-melting.

I thought the timing of everything was really well done, and I enjoyed the build-up of their attraction, eagerly waiting for them to finally act on it. When it came, it didn’t feel like the big moment I was hoping for, and though it was hot, I thought their chemistry fizzled a little bit. But it still ended well, with a double epilogue which provides good closure, and I finished this book with a smile on my face.

A beautifully written, emotional story, I loved it. 4 stars.

This is a new adult romance about Presley, a pregnant eighteen year old who moves in with her baby daddy's family after he dies. At first the dad's brother Jonathan hates Presley, but they slowly become friends, before falling for each other.

The plot of this book is what made me want to read this, but unfortunately the execution just wasn't great. In general I'm not the biggest fan of teenage romance because the characters are usually really immature and there's too much teen angst and drama. In this book, Presley had just finished highschool and Jonathan was in college, so maybe I should have realised right away this wouldn't be for me?

My problem with this book was largely because I couldn't connect to the heroine, Presley. She is described (multiple times) as the school slut and although I do agree with the point made in the book that men can get away with being slutty while women can't, was it really necessary to have her:
1) be pregnant by a guy she wasn't even in a relationship with;
2) have her fall for his brother, who she had previously kissed at a party;
3) have also made out with dead baby daddy's best friend since his death, while pregnant?
We learn all of this during the first few chapters and it just screamed immature and bad decision making, and I would have felt the same way if this was the male character. As the book went on she matured a little I started to like Presley more, but it was too little too late. Her and Jonathan had okay chemistry and the sex scenes were good but at that point I wasn't that invested in their relationship.

It's also worth mentioning that there were a LOT of grammatical errors and sentences that straight up didn't make sense. I usually overlook this in self-published work but it happened with enough frequency that it distracted me from the story. There were also a few times early on where the characters went into a flashback but the text wasn't italicised so I got a little confused (most notably the first time Jonathan goes to the therapist and we get a flash back to the previous day at practice).

All the negatives aside, the saving grace of this book was Jonathan. His relationship with baby Evie was the sweetest and I also enjoyed reading about him moving on from the death of his brother through going to therapy.

Overall I enjoyed this book enough that I read it relatively quickly, but on reflection I just don't think Katie Ashley is the author for me, unfortunately. I do want to stress though that this wasn't a bad book, it just wasn't for me. Fans of highschool/new adult romance might enjoy this!

One tragic event spent many lives spinning. For some it helped forge new relationships. For one, it changed the outlook of her future. For another it could cost him his only safe outlet and plans for his future. All were sunk into a spiral of grief and guilt and left looking for an anchor to help pull them out.

Presley Patterson has a bad reputation and is now going to be a single, young mom. But despite the circumstances, she is willing to do the right thing for her and her baby. Her family is not there for her, but thankfully the father's parents are willing and eager to help their grandchild.

Jonathan Nelson is still reeling over the loss of his brother, dealing with his own issues due to the event, and has been put in a forced time out to deal with them. He is drowning in guilt and grief, and angry at Presley and unsure of her true motives. He is unfocused, volatile, and in need of help.

Two broken souls, tied in grief and circumstances start to find common ground, acceptance, and support. But the situation is complicated and messy. Their lives are changing and new ties are forming.

The past is not always what it seems. And the present is hard to face in the aftermath. But in order to find a way to move on and have a healthy future, they will both need to come to terms with their issues and guilt, and find a way to move past it.

It is hard to navigate loneliness, regret, and shared grief, but each of them starts to have unexpected feelings that bring even more guilt, wariness, and confusion. But at the same time, there are also more positive things happening in their lives and providing some hope. Their road towards happiness was gradual, heartbreaking, emotional, and complicated, but also had unexpected surprises and joys. I enjoyed seeing the character growth, healing, and changing dynamics. This book brings a lot of feels, but it also has some humor and sweet moments too.

This brings back some of the characters and events from previous books Don't Hate the Player...Hate the Game and The Hard Way. Those events shaped them all and had a ripple effect. But this is in Presley and Jonathan's point of view. I enjoyed getting more with this group and finally getting to see Presley and Jonathan start to find light at the end of the tunnel.

The couple: Johnathan and Presley

Romance genre: She loves the other brother
Length: 308 pages

Plot: Presley just graduated from high school and is pregnant with her hook-up's baby. She knew she and Jake were never going to be serious (even if she secretly hoped for a little more), but on the day that she told him she was pregnant, he was killed in a tragic accident. Now she's relying on Jake's family to help her during the pregnancy, as her own mom is a bit of a deadbeat. The only problem is Jake's older brother, Johnathan; he still grieving and is mean as hell with it; he's not sure the baby is even Jake's and isn't afraid to say it. But as the months pass by, it seems that Johnathan and Presley have more in common than they realized, and that little baby might be just the thing to help them realize it.

Commentary: I don't actually have any active complaints about this one! No, new adult is not my favorite genre, but I felt like there was enough going on in the story that the new adult part wasn't the most interesting bit. I expected the characters to be somewhat immature because of their age and circumstances, and they were, but not overly so. What I found interesting was that in this case, football was more than the kingmaking activity it normally is (in books and in life). Football was the cudgel used to force Johnathan into therapy. He balked, as you would expect, but then was mature enough to continue with the therapy even when he didn't have to. The fact that there was this idea of redemption running throughout the story was fascinating:
Johnathan believes he needs redemption because of the guilt he feels re: his brother's accident, and he continues to feel a little guilt over wanting Presley;
Presley feels a need for redemption every time she questions her ability to be a mother and also for feeling jealous and bitter over Jake's changing life that didn't include her;
Jake, before his death, was seeking redemption from his playboy wastrel lifestyle so that he would be good enough for the pastor's daughter;
If I wanted to go full-English teacher, I could talk about the redemption arc as it involved some of the minor characters, but honestly, this is just a hobby lol, so I'll spare you.

I loved that Presley was unapologetic about her reputation, but at the same time, I feel like she might have regretted it to an extent (and that connects back to that idea of redemption as well). She certainly put Johnathan in his place though and he didn't really allow negative thoughts about who she was or who she had been with interfere with their love life (which must have been hard at times considering that one of those people was his own brother).

Johnathan's devotion to his niece was adorable; it was obvious he'd never be able to leave and move on without her!

Presley Patterson didn’t imagine she’d be a teenage mom, but finding out she was pregnant just before high school graduation sends her world spinning. Her world is upturned again in short succession when her baby daddy is killed in a tragic accident. Without her own family to help her, she turns to Jake’s family for support while she finds her feet.

Jonathon Nelson witnessed the accident that took his brother’s life and the trauma is more than he can cope with on his own. As he begins to deal with the grief of his brother’s death, he finds himself in close quarters with Presley. He isn’t sure how to deal with his grief, let alone the confusing feelings he finds himself harboring for the mother of his niece.

I loved watching the progression of the relationship between these two. They are both hurting, and both know they have to deal with that pain before anything can happen. But with Presley’s history with Jake, there is a ghost lurking behind all of their early interactions. This is a relatively slow burn. Neither moves quickly as there is too much at stake if their relationship doesn’t work out.

There is much healing to work through in this story. I love how open the characters are about needing help to handle their problems and pressures, and Dr. Z’s quirky personality helped Jonathon open up and work through his hangups. The entire Nelson family was warm and welcoming and as many times as I found myself shaking my head at Presley’s mom, I loved the way they took Presley in and stood up for her. And Evie? She stole the scenes in multiple places with the way she wrapped Jonathan around her little finger without even trying.

The Right Way was a very anticipated read of mine. It seems like I waited forever for it. I absolutely adore single parent romances and the fact that this particular romance involved the baby daddy's brother, sign me up!

Presley has been in love with Jake Nelson for a very long time but after a tragic accident, she is left pregnant and alone so Jake's mother does the noble thing and opens her home to Presley. But that comes with a complication in the form of Jake's older brother, Jonathan. He has an intense dislike towards Presley because of her circumstance and her actions in the past but he realizes that he has to accept the situation because the baby Presley is carrying is a part of Jake. Jonathan becomes a father figure to baby Evie and is there through every step of the way. Being there for Evie and her mama brings Jonathan and Presley impossibly close. They become friends but there is an underlying attraction and sexual tension brewing. Being friends is not enough and one wrong move might ruin the balance they have created.

Jonathan was an a** in the beginning but he redeemed himself by being super sweet to Presley and Evie. Jonathan and Evie... Totally swoon worthy. My heart broke for Presley and the hurt she had to go through.

I wouldn't have been anxious for this if Jake was still alive in this book. To be honest, he seemed like a real tool to me and Presley deserved someone who gave her his whole heart. I wouldn't have waited around for a boy who is so frivolous with his feelings. I also loved the slow burn aspect of this book. Anything else would have not been right and I wouldn't have read it.

Katie Ashley has done an amazing job with this emotional story of healing, pain and love. She has delivered such emotion in this one. You may need tissues.

Presley never expected to become a teenage mum but she embraces this and turns her life around. When the babies father, Jake, is killed in a tragic accident she never expected to find her support system in Jake's family.

Jonathan witnessed his brothers death and is suffering with PTSD and flashbacks and is unable to cope with it on his own. As he begins to deal with his brothers death he finds himself drawn to Presley and especially baby Evie when shes born.

I loved how this romance developed, there was no insta-love, it was at a natural pace and so beautiful to watch develop. They don't want to risk their relationship by going too fast.

Well done Katie for this beautiful read.

This book completely shattered me and was 100% worth the wait for it to be released. Katie Ashley does a freaking wonderful job creating realistic and believable characters. This book was DEFINITELY something that I have not read before with 'complicated' being the main theme. There are many different outliers in the book, but I have to say that I love the characters and Katie Ashley had a nice organic plot that moved at just the right pace and not TOO fast or slow.

I give this a solid 4.5 outta 5 stars and loved how beautiful but complicated the book was! Both characters come a long way throughout the story to become wonderful versions of themselves while dealing with heartache.

PS: Thanks to Katie Ashley and Inkslinger PR for allowing me an advanced copy of the book to read and review honestly!

I mean .... I don't know either. Why did I read a NA?
And then I had to think about it a lot, wavering between 2 and 3 stars, and I considered "self, are you giving this 2 stars just because you don't care for NA?" And my conclusion obviously is "no."
BECAUSE ... Nothing really happens.
Let me explain - there's ... no real development of the relationship. It's just that Jonathan and Presley spend a lot of time together (which we never see on the page ...) and we're just meant to assume a relationship develops because of proximity. I mean OBVIOUSLY sometimes that happens - but ... it obviously isn't a GIVEN either. [Other than in a romance novel - of course - but that's why some work and some don't/require more or less suspension of disbelief.]

I REALLY liked that Jonathan was in therapy. LOVED.
I kinda wish there'd be a bit more into .... "why" or just MORE about his dad's change in attitude. It seemed pretty 180 and I dunno that a granddaughter would do it? (Also he was changing before?)

There was something a bit ... weird about the like "I'll care for you because I have to/you're part of the parcel for me to get the daughter of my dead child." Like ... that's A FREAKING LOT TO UNPACK THERE. And ... it kinda felt like it was glossed over?
And then how EVERYONE is just not only so only but gung ho about this new relationship.

There were plot holes and typos too.

But! Presley. Like ... MAN the slut shaming.
It's ... it's rough.
She even notes how unfair it all is - and/but she internalizes it too. And I GET it ... but ... oof.
I think it was really important that Jake had been changing before he died, otherwise ... it would've been too much of like "now he's dead he was perfect in life."

The best friend/Noah & Maddie ... I haven't read their story and don't think I will.

Honestly a big part of me kept reading cuz I kept expecting a jump in time? I guess I don't know WHY I *expected* it but ... I did. Ashley has written older characters - I guess I just thought it might happen.

I'm also a ghoul I guess because I find it harder to believe these NA relationships will last.

I DID like that there wasn't the proposal but damn all these literal kids are getting married - like what, freaking Noah and Maddie were 19? 20?

I also didn't know about Cade & Alexis/didn't read that book so the ~sidestory kinda felt out of the blue.

It just felt like a lot of scenes that weren't really connected well.
The whole "the past" "the present" was also a bit annoying - I mean I don't love it in general, but especially here it was just a difference of FOUR MONTHS.
Like come on now.

Also it wasn't ... clear what ... Jake bought a ring for Maddie but wrote her a "goodbye" letter?
It's all a mess.

I did like Evie though, and how Jon loved her so much - the whole "I want to be her dad" .. that scene ... I dunno. like OBVIOUSLY Jake would still be her biological dad/ why would you change the birth certificate/THAT'S NOW HOW THAT WORKS.
So there were definitely problems.

Just ... stream of consciousness much like the book >.>
[And the therapist was .... more like a bro than a therapist. The unconventional treatment at the beginning was fine/it worked, but the later stuff....]

blergh.

It was cute overall, but ... lots of :|

It’s been years since I read Don’t Hate the Player, so I didn’t recall all of the background prior to the beginning of this story. This story begins after Presley finds out she’s pregnant and Jake has died in a horrible accident, after telling Presley he will be there for the baby.

Presley is left wondering what she will do as her mother isn’t very maternal nor dependable and she doesn’t have anyone else to help. Fortunately, Jake’s parents invite her to live with them so they can help her through the pregnancy. I believe they initially offered because of the coming grandchild but living together was beneficial for everyone.

Beneficial for everyone except Jonathan, Jake’s older brother and who had seen his brother die. As you can imagine, he has experienced trauma and having a difficult time getting past the loss, which affects his football career at college.

Presley had a reputation to overcome and as the pregnancy progressed, she determined she will live her life the best she can for her child. She had plans to attend college and not to get involved with any guys as she focuses on her life and what she can build for her child.

I loved the interactions between the family and to see that Jonathan started to see Presley in a different light as they spent more and more time together. I won’t give any spoilers but when the baby arrived – what a chaotic, emotional event. It was so beautiful to see how everyone loved the baby and how she helped with the grief everyone felt at the loss of Jake.

This was a sweet and emotional story with a great ending.

Wow talk about emotional. Jonathan was learning how to grieve the loss of his younger brother Jake especially since he witnessed it. Presley was expecting Jake’s baby and for some reason Jonathan despised her. Until he realized that she wasn’t using his parents like he thought. He saw a different side of her once she moved in with his family. Presley had a bad reputation as being a wild child but once she found herself pregnant at 18 she completely changed. She grew up and made sure to do everything that will benefit her daughter and she was grateful that Jake’s family was helping her while she worked and went to school. Little by little her and Jonathan got close and in some way saved each other. And he loved his niece something fierce. As a matter of fact she called him daddy and it was the cutest thing. These two overcame so much and it was sad but yet beautiful. But what I loved the most was that nothing was rushed.

Another great read by Ms. Ashley

I fell in love with Ms. Ashley long ago with her Runaway Train series. She is one of my go to authors and she didn’t disappoint with this book either. I will admit I was new to these characters. I didn’t read Don’t Hate The Player. To me this book didn’t have a lot of drama no suspense it was just a sweet love story. There is no cheating in this book. At the time of my review this book is available on kindle unlimited.

Just when you think your life is going to go one way it can unexpectedly change in an instant. Presley Patterson life is turned upside down but she’s knows she must change her ways and become a better person for not only herself but for the sake of her child. She will have the support of a very loving family The Nelson’s but the reluctant help of their older son Jonathan Nelson.
Jonathan thinks Presley is not who she seems to be but overtime and after getting to know the person she becomes he sees her in a whole different light.
You will watch Presley & Jonathan overcome grief, find a way to trust one another, and watch them find the feelings for the other that will maybe lead them to love. There story is a journey that you will want to follow to the end and know that you can always overcome anything if you have the right person by your side.

Jake Nelson was every girls dream boy .. but when a serious accident take him not the Nelson’s, Maddie or Presley can bring him back BUT what Presley has can make his leaving maybe a little easier to breath .. or so we hope so ....

Jonathan doesn’t think a tiger can change its spots like Presley can’t change from her past to the better in the present BUT for Evie she CAN and WILL .. prove them ALL wrong !!

When everyone notices the tension between a Jonathan and Presley why can’t they .. oh that is write they both are still thinking of Jake .. he would want them to move on and what better then with each other !!

Can they see through the smoke and get there happy ending ??

I loved the drama, laughter and the love these two have for each other and THANKFULLY the saw it before it was too late !!

I like the slow burn from virtual enemies, to friends, to lovers. The growth of both characters shines through the pages. This was a deeply emotional story. I found myself in tears more than once. The guilt Jonathan had over his brothers death almost lead him to the point of self destruction. If it weren't for his love of football he would have never gotten the help he needed to deal with life. Also being in the delivery room, although he resisted had a major impact on him. As much as he tried, he couldn't get Presley out of his mind. When they say some people are dealt a tough hand they could be talking about her. She didn't have a good mother but she was determined to be one for her little girl. Once deemed the good time girl, as soon as she was pregnant she made up her mind to change. She had an amazing transformation. "We aren't our pasts"

Jonathan is devastated and still reeling from the death of his brother. The last thing he needs is for his brother’s pregnant girlfriend to be living with his family as he had his concerns about her relationship with his brother long before he passed away.

When Presley thought about what life would hold for her after school it didn’t include expecting a child or having Jake, the father of her baby, pass way after a tragic accident. With no family to support her and having minimal options Jake’s parents offer for her to stay with them is the best way to ensure that she and her baby are safe.

Full of emotion this is a story about two people who are drawn together by pain and not only help each deal with their shared loss but prepare for a future that neither expected. Their journey was far from easy but that only made their relationship that much more satisfying.

The Right Way from Katie Ashley is a story of coming of age, as well as overcoming a horrific accident that has all the characters learning to overcome grief. This is Presley and Jonathan’s story, it will have you not only hooked from the beginning, but also keeps you wanting to keep reading to see how they both will come together. Keep some tissues handy this book has all the feels, can’t wait to see if we will get Jason’s book.

I enjoyed this one in the beginning and I did like how the romance didn't happen overnight but when it did happen it felt too quick for me. And too soft I think. Also he never had a talk with his Dad that I feel like was big when he was in therapy but then never mentioned again.

This was a fast fun read - there were parts that the reader loved and parts that they were like "ummmm, no"- but overall it was a good read.

Presley is pregnant with Jake's baby - Jake is dead - his brother is not, but there are a lot of hurdles to overcome. The reader found the fact that Jake was going to propose to Maggie who moved on with the quickness after his death, meanwhile, Presley is distraught but she didn't actually love him a but off putting. Then there is the fact that Jake's family just moves Presley in and acts like this is normal and that there is nothing strange about it.

The overall plot of the story was good and had five star potential, unfortunately this one just fell a little off the mark for me.
