She must return to the place that twice brought her shame. She’ll have one final chance to save someone else.Tennessee, 1982. Wildflower McAllister thought she’d put the past behind her. But when she learns her mother is dying, she digs deep and returns to the small mountain town that stole her innocence and cast her out. And she has no choice but to pull her thirteen-year-old granddaughter Daisy right back into the ghosts of her painful history.
As her mother passes, Wildflower’s grief turns to despair when Daisy’s fortune is read, predicting a dark future and the return of sinister threats. With her granddaughter keeping a terrible secret, Wildflower’s distress forces her to call upon the community that rejected her to prevent another tragedy from playing out in front of her eyes.
Can Wildflower stop a harrowing legacy from spreading to another generation?
Daisy’s Fortune is the emotional conclusion to the Wildflower Trilogy. If you like strong women, generational tales, and the power of family and the land to heal, then you’ll adore Susan Gabriel’s compelling finale.
Susan Gabriel is an acclaimed southern author who lives in the mountains of Western North Carolina. Her novels, The Secret Sense of Wildflower (a Kirkus Reviews Best Book of 2012) and Temple Secrets (2015) are Amazon and Nook #1 bestsellers.
The third book in the Wildflower trilogy was especially good. These books center around strong women in four generations, with this story centering on Daisy. When Daisy's grandmother, with whom she is staying, learns that her mother is dying, she returns to the mountains bringing Daisy along. Daisy has met very few of her relatives and has seldom been to her great-grandmother's home, so she is in for many new experiences, some good and some not so good. Daisy learns secrets, and has secrets of her own. It's just a great story, and I highly recommend!
This is the third book in the Wildflower Trilogy. First came The Secret Sense of Wildflower and was Louisa May’s(Wildflower) story. Second was her daughter’s, Lily’s Song and then this one. The perfect ending to one of the best series I’ve have read. The whole series will have you feeling things you may not expect. From laughter to tears. Lots of tears though. Innocence lost, family found. Each person, Wildflower, Lily and Daisy were thirteen in their stories. They each had things to overcome but also had a love that defied the odds.
(My thoughts are like a wheel stuck in the mud that keep turning and digging itself deeper. “For years I though it was my fault. But what I’ve learned from my fifty years of living is that sometimes bad things happen, and you didn’t do a single thing to deserve it or bring it on.” All we need is one person willing to hold us. One person who will see our shame and love us anyway. Perhaps even love us more. In many ways, Daisy’s fortune has been my fortune, too.) From this book these are some of my favorite lines.
This book will touch your heart is so many ways. The innocence of a child. The wonder of life. The courage of the elderly. The love that you feel do deeply between the three people in this story and series. It’s a deep love that no one can destroy. Learning to trust that you will be ok. You will survive the worse things that can possibly happen to you. The loss of family. The secret sense that lets you continue to hear their voices. Know that they loved you so very much.
This book definitely made me shed lots of tears but it also made me feel calm. I could picture the mountains, the trails, the people. Even the ones you sat in judgement of others. A friend who is not and never was truly a friend at all. A stranger who came and made a home there but was not the evil person you fear him to be. The beautiful flowers everywhere. Even the peace you feel in the cemetery finally. It’s told with such depth and love. You don’t mess with a mother’s protective side when she would do anything for her child. You step back and let it go.
This book made me look at growing old in a different way also. All the memories you have. The things you did in your life. The regrets and the wonders. The family you have and will see again someday. Maybe.
This book takes you to a place where things are much simpler and love abounds. Not just the love of a man and woman but the love of a family. The love of three generations of women who would and did do all they could for each other. Overcame such horrible things in life and came out much stronger.
I enjoyed this book as much as the other two and maybe just a bit more. I loved all the characters in this one with the exception of one woman. She was not nice at all. This book is so well written and the time frame is perfect for it. The setting, the descriptions are so realistic. You will feel right at home.
I give this book 5 stars and highly recommend it. But be sure and read the first two so you will completely understand what this one is saying. This is truly a perfect series.
I loved this book and I loved the first and second one too. I was raised in middle Georgia and had the beaches to the East and the north Georgia mountains to the north. It is hard to choose to between the two of them but I really do love the Appalachian mountains. I love books about Appalachia and when I started the Wildflower series, I couldn’t wait until the next one would come out. I just finished the last one and wished there were five more to read. They are so good. She writes very good books. Read them...and enjoy 😊
Fortunes are defined by the importance to whom it is given. Daisy is determined to find the treasure she doesn't realize she already has.
The third book in a well written trilogy weaving a pattern of deep rooted family history. The story incorporates impossible events at there worst and secrets that must be told. Despite lives that seem to be defined by tragic milestones and regrets, there is a determination to rise above unbelievable circumstances. All three books are well worth reading.
The Wildflower trilogy follows the lives and relationships of women through innocence, disparaging fear and grief, endearment and love. They discover who they are through the strength of their relationships and family ties. Their characters become dear fiends to the reader as they grow into themselves and their future. A series not to be missed.
This final book in the trilogy overwhelmed me with emotion. These three strong women - Wildflower, Lily and Daisy - walked through all the good and bad times, and there were many, righting the wrongs of the past to enjoy their lives together. The stories of family and their small homeland in the hills of Tennessee were so descriptive I could see and feel it as they spoke. I recommend this trilogy to anyone and everyone. Important to read them in order.
Get ready for the best emotional roller coaster ride
I loved the whole trilogy! Anyone who reads them now is so lucky because they can read straight through instead of waiting for the next book to come out. So beautifully written with rich character's you will become very attached to. I love the way it ended but am sad it is over.
The third in this trilogy, I found it to be addressing yet another issue that plagues young women. This trilogy will open the possibility of communication to give and get help for those who are being abused. I would recommend this whole trilogy for a reading age of12 until the hummingbird quilt is turned for the last time.
I read the first two Wildflower books and had looked forward to the third book being published. It does not disappoint and is as interesting and intriguing book as the previous ones. I am so glad that I discovered Susan Gabriel books and will continue to read her books until I have read all of them. Thanks, Susan, for the wonderful Southern stories.
I loved the Wildflower Trilogy and I’m sad that it has ended. Each book was better than the previous one. Great character development- I feel like know these characters and Katy’s Ridge!
The third and final book in a series set in the mountains of Tennessee following several generations of women. Through rough times and good, we get to share their courage and strength as a family. Enjoyable setting and memorable characters.
THE WILDFLOWER TRILOGY ( 3 books) is the best series I have ever read. Beautifully written. Read them in order, walk beside Wildflower and remember what is important in life.
I absolutely loved this trilogy. Book 1 and 2 by far were my favorite. The third book was good, but not nearly as engrossing as the first two. I could easily see myself rereading these one day, just because they were that good.
I have read the series and highly recommend this series for any book club or single reader. It is a great series and she has other books too that are very good.
The Wildflower series covers generations of women in one family. It is painful at times as secrets play out looking for resolution. Characters are lively and honest. Enjoyed the series.
I hated to see this series end. I enjoyed all 3 books. They where very beautifully written. I'm going to look for more books from this author. Great job
