With heavy iron gates, two security stations, and a groundskeeper's cottage, The Cove has everything a billionaire could ask for in a home. Dubbed Billionaire Bachelor Cove because of the residents' single status and income portfolios, The Cove is the perfect place to hide away from the world. But, as the residents soon find out, they can't hide from love.
A Christmas List for the Billionaire Christmas is weeks away, but Reese Somersby hasn’t had a moment for traditions like trees, carols and cocoa. She’s too busy keeping handsome billionaire bad boy Crew Russell out of the tabloids. When Crew’s dad issues an ultimatum, he’s faced with a holiday list that Reese can get behind. Between helping the homeless and choosing a charity, Reese starts to see the kind of man she could really fall for behind the suits and Corvettes. When an old flame walks back into Crew’s life, Reese wonders if all the Christmas cheer is just for show.
Not many people can make Crew sweat, but a cascade of compromising photos and a list of demands from his dad wake him up to the changes he needs to make in his life. With Reese’s help, Crew gets back who he truly is in his heart. Every task on the list opens his eyes to the needs around him, his desire to improve his community, and the incredible woman in his life. Reese is not only a capable assistant, she is a beautiful, warm and genuine woman. An unplanned kiss and a tender Christmas wish inspire Crew to meet the challenge of winning Reese’s heart.
Crew starts off as a spoiled playboy, completely oblivious of the real world and of what’s going on in his father’s business. But when he’s taken to task over his shortcomings and must fulfill a list of things his father sets up for him, he begins to awaken to the world around him and takes an interest in those in need. As his self-centredness melts away, will he finally take notice of his personal assistant and what an amazing person she is, or will he continue to take her for granted? And will her job become obsolete?
-‘he felt a fundamental shift had begun to take place inside of him. Maybe it was the bitter cold of winter that he rarely experienced. Maybe it was meeting people who were down on their luck, or who suffered from mental illness of one kind or another. Maybe it was seeing the basic needs of people just like him not being met. He felt a lot like Scrooge had. Going through his days before, he had never looked around to see people in need. Even that night, he had huddled in his limo, basically hoping he could get out of the whole situation. How glad he was now that there was no backing out.’-
A most satisfying read! As always, this author writes so well and she sucks me right into the story from the first sentence right to the end. I know I will be reading this again.
Crew is the proverbial rich spoiled guy and on top of that is Reese's boss. She puts up with him because she sees potential for goodness inside of him. When his father sets some tasks before him, Crew has to reevaluate his priorities, friendships and the woman who has been his right hand all this time. This book was full of holiday cheer and goodness, it was warming and cute. I loved the redemption and reformation. It also made me curious about the rest of the Cove residents. 😁 Narrative: 3rd person, following Reese and Crew Religion: none Sensuality: chaste, only kissing (but pretty modest)
I really enjoyed the Christmas-y premise to this story. Crew isn't really a Scrooge or Grinch in the strict sense - he's actually the opposite because he's spending money wastefully & cheerfully, but like those iconic Christmas villains, he is a soul who has lost his way.
Crew's dad intervenes to put a stop to his son's partying ways. Or else. Reese is there to support & help him however he needs it. Admittedly, the transformation is a bit fast as some reviewers have said, but it's handled credibly enough that it didn't bother me.
I love conversion stories, so the best part of the story for me was watching Crew go from a prodigal to a philanthropist. There was a little bit of a surprise twist at the end, and a contrived conflict that was mildly annoying (so another part of the reason for the loss of a star) but overall it left me feeling like I had just watched a really good Hallmark Christmas movie. Now I'm in the mood for the holidays!
Crew Russell seems to be a partying playboy without a conscience, but his personal assistant, Reese Somersby somehow manages to get him upright and presentable each morning. Crew’s foolish partying ways come to slap him in the face when his father (and boss) finally call him on his crap. Crew must complete a list of specific items by Christmas in order to save his position in the company and turn the business in Seattle around. Crew turns to Reese for help and finds her to be the most positive thing in his life. Reese finds herself falling for the newly reformed Crew Russell as she finds him to be a far better man than she had ever realized. But will crossing the line from assistant to something more make it impossible to keep her job? I love seeing the change happen in Crew as he takes on the challenges that are designed to make him a better person. Kindness and generosity go a lot further in developing character than do big business transactions and sabotage.
I couldn't put this book down. I loved the relationship between Reese and Crew as well as Reese and her sister Halle. I hope she will write a book for Halle as well. Wonderful author. I really liked the homeless in the park part of the story where Crew really went out of his comfort zone to interact with them. Highly recommend this book.
Wow I thought this book was amazing. The transformation of Crew as he realised what a knob he was but not only realised there was another side to life but did something about it. Excellent read. I will now go look for another book in the Cove series
Another excellent book from the cove! He is like a child you have to watch to keep him out of trouble. Who knew she was all he needed to help him become a man.
