A little owl seems incapable of hoo-hooting softly to himself at night. Instead, he hoots at the top of his little owl lungs and drives all the neighboring animals crazy. It takes the competition of a raccoon "STOMP"-style band ("a type of music made with the lids of garbage pails") juxtaposed alongside his parents' soft hooting to open his eyes to the benefits of gentle, quiet hooting.

The illustration of the raccoon band is my favorite because of the way the girl raccoon is playing the cymbals--total commitment, baby. :)

I read this today because a couple of students donated some books to our library and this was in the batch. It's the same age I am. Probably not going to make the collection. >>wink<<
