A mind-blowing memoir of outstanding Gandhian activists. Throws lots of light on Land (donation) for Landless people movement (Bhoodhan movement). Shows how a piece (at least an acre) of cultivatable land would uplift the economy of poor people permanently. And also explains how the MNCs bribed the politicians and ensured that Shrimp Farming Industry (which spoiled Thailand coastal lands) grew along Indian coastal lines. Shrimp farming industry irreversibly polluted the environment and also took away jobs of many fishermen. It gave job for 2 people while took job of 10 people. Krishnaambal and Jagannathan are great model for anyone.

An inspiring look at activism without resources (except people). Reminds us in the West not to complain when activism seems too hard - S. Jagannathan and Krishnammal Jagannathan and the people of India generally had a far more difficult time/life than we'll ever have. Since it's an English translation of an Italian and Tamil text, the writing is sometimes simplistic and clumsy (except for David Albert's introduction), but it is worth reading.
