Hi, so excited about being on Goodreads and sharing my Middle School books with you! I live in beautiful Noosa, in Australia. For most of my life I was a teacher of Middle School kids, and what an awesome experience that was. It gave me the opportunity to understand the problems that kids go through. My writing partners are Kaz and Bill Campbell, they were also Middle School Teachers. We hope you enjoy our books as much as we love writing them for you!!!
The book is linked into another series done by the author. We have two main sets of characters. Alexa and her brother Tyler. Their mother is a drunk, there's a major bushfire and they have to abandon their run-down RV. The two end up moving next door to Casey and Ali who are twins separated at birth with their own background problems so neither group has had it easy in life so far.
Casey and Ali are having problems in their relationship and things don't necessarily improve when Alexa and Tyler move in next door. They are now living with relatives, the aunt being particularly nasty but able to cover up that nastiness when talking to other adults.
There's a lot of psychology involved. Casey and Ali have their own background problems they have been having to deal with and now there's new ones and potentially some jealously over how Ali seems to want to hang around Alexa. Alexa and her brother, at the same time, are hiding the fact that their mother is a drunk and they have been shipped off to relatives, the aunt not really seeming to want them.
There's also issues of jealousy going on so this is not a simple story about young people. There are major issues involved and it will be interesting to see how all of this works out.
My 10 years old granddaughter read and is dictating this review. She said that she did not give it a 5 because some parts get boring and it is not that fun.
