4 stars I received a free copy of the Atlanta, Georgia-based novel Zero Day: Virtual Networks... A Near-Future Technothriller with Inspirational Romance (Binary Hackers Book 2) by Jan Thompson and this review was given freely.
For the most part, this was an action-packed and suspenseful story of retribution and redemption set primarily in the Czech Republic. It contains a few suspenseful twists, and a relationship that spans years and countries, but the ending felt anticlimactic. This sequel features the abandoned former Binary Systems’ system analysis American hacker Kelvin Gallagher, whose desperation leads to him working with Aspasia resulting in the formation of MedusaNet which sets off a series of events leading to Cayson’s Kill Switch dilemma, Kelvin’s being captured by multiple intelligence and military entities, and his recapture to help shutdown Ulysses‘ successor to the MedusaNet. Former Marine turned Israeli Mossad agent; Yona Epstein abandons her dream career to assassinate her former acquaintance only to learn she is a pawn in a plan that could end their lives.
I'm really enjoying this series. Kelvin worked with Binary computer group but because of his mother's cancer he took a deal from the bad guys so his mom could have an awesome place to live as she was dying. Then he realized what he had done and tried to get out of it, but that wasn't going to happen and he was taken to Czechoslovakia and left there to die, and that was what he was expecting, to die in an abandoned apartment building, with a stray cat as his only friend. But it wasn't to be and he was rescued, then he was kidnapped again, then he was rescued again... Lots of action and redemption!
Jan Thompson’s book Zero Day: Yona and Kelvin’s story will have you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens with them. Kelvin has been hiding in a rat infested building for years while Yona and several other people are trying to find him. When Yona finds him both of them and their friends are in danger. You will feel God working throughout this wonderful book. I had the honor to review this book for the author for a honest review. I would give this book a higher rating than a five star review if I could.
Such a tangled web, you can run but you can't hide...not for long anyway. In this hacker world, who can you trust. It's so easy to get caught up and quickly swept away, I love that he accepts the consequences of his wrong doing and rekindles his trust and faith in the right way. Full of action, very suspenseful and emotionally engaging with a sweet blooming romance. I was provided a free copy without obligation and am voluntarily reviewing.
Kelvin made a lot of mistakes that he regretted. Although he asked for repentance, he still had to face the consequences. When Yona finds him, their lives and the lives of their friends are in danger. This story not only is suspenseful but grace and forgiveness are shown throughout the story too.
Fun read; sweet love story with international action. Not a lot of character development but nevertheless a good story to read when you need something light and fast paced.
This was a little confusing for me. I felt sorry for Kevin when he is captured, left in a cell until people want him to help them. There are lots of things going on inside this book.
Read thus in two sittings. Suspenseful and intriguing. I was drawn in from page one and amazed at the ending. I recommend this book to readers and believers.
I liked this romantic suspense about Kelvin and Yona. I recommend this book for those who enjoy stories about technical things involving hackers where agencies like the CIA are involved. The characters are likeable and the suspense keeps you reading. I received a free copy of this book and this is my voluntary and honest review.
