When she's not writing, Jayne is reading (and re-reading) her favorite authors, cooking Italian feasts, and going on long walks with her husband. She's from New Zealand, but now lives in Edinburgh, Scotland.
A wonderful Scottish Medieval romance series set on 14th Century Isle of Skye and centred around three sisters and their passionate love stories.
THE BEAST'S BRIDE I'm a big fan of Beauty and the Beast stories and this is a winner. Rhona and Taran fit the bill and I enjoyed their chemistry and story.
THE OUTLAW'S BRIDE Another great read, a lovely woven story with well developed characters. Adaira and Lachlann are thrown together out of dire necessity. A nice moving story where they learn to trust each other and fall in love.
THE ROGUE'S BRIDE A wonderful written story that kept me engaged to the end. Caitrin and Alastair were complex characters and you could feel their emotions coming off the page. My personal favourite out of the three in the Brides of Skye series.
Loved this series by author, Jayne Castel. Out of the 3 stories my favorite one was "The Outlaw's Bride"! It had the most action which I like. I loved all three sisters. They were strong and unique. Their dad was a horse behind if you know what I mean! LOL. I cannot imagine being a woman in that time period. Most didn't have the choice on who they married and were forced to do so for alliances with other clans and political reasons. I would NOT have been cooperative if I were in that scenario! Kudos to these brides who in their own way got to choose their husbands. If you love Scottish themed stories, you will love reading this author. Enjoy!
Five stars. Three brides all sisters. Due to forces beyond theory control Rhona, Adaira, and Caitlin would wed men in unique circumstances. Ruins weds the winner of highland games because she was too picky about suitors. Arabia was told she would wed an older clan chief who might have killed his first wife. Caution gets a second chance at love after her cruel husband dies in circumstances set up by her father. None of husbands were the men were their father's choices.
Each of these stories - Taran and Rhona, Lachlann and Adaira, and Alasdair and Caitrin - are strong and difficult to put down on their own, but reading them all together in this set is just fantastic. The weaving of characters in and out of each story really fills out the plots, and makes each tle that much better. Amazing writing, characters with depth, and detailed descriptions about the settings all work together to make this series unforgettable. Jayne Castel has done a tremendously good job with these books!
A wonderful series! Each book had well-developed characters and a plot that kept my interest throughout. The main characters were realistic, with noble attributes as well as flaws. Likewise, the conflicts they faced were realistic, requiring them to mature in certain ways in order to reach a happy resolution. I hated to see it come to an end, but I've now started another of Jayne Castel's series called The Sisters of Kilbride, whose first book features a character introduced in Book 3 of The Brides of Skye.
Three sisters, each with their own personalities-each interesting as well as believeable. Three unbelievably dashing men who become entangled with each sister. I liked that some of the gents knew and loved the sister from afar, some had no liking for the sister or her clan, at first that is. I enjoyed the sisters’ relationships with each other. Recommend for anyone with an ounce of romanticism in their blood!
All of Jayne Castels series of books are wonderful. The men are brave, sincere and heroic. The Brides of Skye series is another set of tales, this time with sisters who overcome horrid marriage prospects to find men who also must also overcome challanges to win the woman they love. Thank you Jayne… I have become annoying to my friends and family, since I can hardly put down your books 😂
I loved all three books. Each book was about one of three sisters. Their father was very overbearing and wasn’t kind. Even though the stories wove together they were each a stand alone book. There was just the right amount of angst and adventure. No bad language or graphic sex. You will enjoy them all.
Three sisters with their own story. A father who was bent on marrying them off without a care of their choice. The daughter’s had rebellion on their minds and weren’t about to go through with what their father had in mind. A whirlwind of drama and excitement to find out how each story will end.
This series focuses on 3 sisters and their journey to love. The sisters are very different but each struggle with their overbearing Father’s push to marry them all off with no consideration to what they want. Great characters (especially Taran in book one), interesting story lines and enough drama to keep it interesting.
Caitrin knows Duntulm and likes being chataleine since becoming a widow. Cheiftain of Dunvegan writes to bid his daughter remarry, since she's so elligible a match to a few suitors. Contests were made to oppose this new plan, but she has to obey and meet her destiny.
It’s hard to imagine how the men treated their feral siblings, daughters and wife’s back then. The culture and the country gave men all of the power over females. Love can change hearts for the good. The situations were unbelievable but true. Those who held to their values and love from their families did the best
This book takes you through the early adult lives of three very different sisters. It is set in 1300's Scotland. There is plenty of love and romance and fighting! You'll be on the edge of your seat wondering what will happen next.
I loved each story of the three sisters. Each one a jewel.on its own. Will definitely read future stories. Was an easy read and caught my attention all the way through.
I just love this series so much. Every book just touches your heart, especially the last one. The author paints the most amazing picture, every detail brings you into that world. I will definitely be picking up the next series!!
The Brides of Skye: The Complete Series by Jayne Castel – The series is on sale on Amazon, so I finished out my collection. A fun Scottish romance! Happy Reading!
All three stories tie into each other, the third is as by far my favorite. Three sisters and the three men who had to win their hearts. Set in the highlands. Wonderful!
These stories of three sisters are very different, but have the same outcome. They all find their true loves. Each sister is different in character and experience, so the stories give you insight into each of their characters and what shaped them. I enjoyed all three books and found myself a new author that I will follow.
All three sisters are interesting, engaging characters, but where Jayne excels is in creating dramatically different plots for each one. A delightful collection where each book builds a new piece of an immersive world of beautiful lasses and the brawny, kilt-wearing warriors striding through it. A real delight!
