Idlewood Plantation has been a paranormal enthusiast’s dream, but for historian Carrie Jo, it’s anything but pleasant. The discovery of the Ouroborus Grimoire heightens the supernatural activity, and the ghosts of Idlewood aren’t happy about it. The Whispering Saint was pretty good, despite the fact that there were no saints referred to in this book and I am puzzled where the title actually came from. I thought there might at least be a grave marker that we could link it to, but no. I got a few answers to my questions lingering from Ghosts of Idlewood and Dreams of Idlewood regarding the death of Trinket, but unfortunately they were not explained with real clarity. A plot hole from Dreams of Idlewood still exists and unfortunately I think that it was a change in storyline, coupled with a lack of proofreading. Still, all in all, I believe the author has a talent for southern ghost tales and I enjoy them. I think you will too.
I have already started the 4th book in the series. They are all good reads and I've really enjoyed them. You get to know all the people in the book pretty well and find you are interested in them outside of the restoration of old houses. There's never a dull moment and it fascinating to read. I think everyone will love these books.
The Whispering Saint is by ML Bullock. This is book three in the Idlewood series. Michael is recovering from his beating from Percy. Meanwhile the Creel Society of Second Brotherhood waits for his return and directions. His friend and brother-in-law, Edward Lagrange, is anxious to move ahead. Is he ready to move on without Michael?
Excellent book, excellent series. Not sure which series I liked better, Seven Sisters or Idlewood?? I think Seven Sisters, only because that is where we were first introduced to Carrie Jo, Ashland, Rachel, Detra Ann and Henri. Great characters.
The stories in this series are decent. The writing, unfortunately, takes away from the story. It lacks maturity and there are flaws within the character development. Still, I am curious to see what happens in book four. So, I will read on.
The plot twist to all of this was beyond shocking. I loved the book. Almost wish I could’ve had a book just about Bridget though.. the past really sucks me into the book. Can’t wait to read more books by the Author
I love Carrie Jo and Ashland Stuart stories. They are my favorite of all of Bullock's characters. I read book 4 first by accident so I suggest readers download the next book in the series.
The third book ended too abruptly for me and the plot seemed loosely developed and rushed, but it was still a good escape read while I'm not feeling the greatest.
Wow, could barely put the book down. Some surprises, good and bad. There is an imagery in ML Bullocks words that do great things for the readers imagination. Truly it is wonderful when an author can describe something so vividly that you have to fight the compulsion to close your eyes, as you might do when watching something scary.
Carrie Jo is married to once rich, exfootball hero Ashland and is proud mama to Baby Boy, AJ. Along with the rest of the cast from the Idlewood Series, there appears to still be unfinished ghost business at Idlewood......personally, I think the author should have just put to bed and closed down this series after Book 2 but if your going to read the Series, do it in order or many references will not make sense. Personally, I liked Carrie Jo and her restoration of old homes is something I find fascinating but I felt Carrie Jo should be a little more down the line in her maturity and her insecurities should be a thing of the past. Read it if you feel the need for full closure of Idlewood but don't expect to discover anything new.
I love a good series and this one was so much fun to read. I really love the characters and I feel like it would be a great television series. I highly recommend reading this if you like ghost stories.
