Lori Wilde can’t remember a time when she didn’t want to write. She even went to nursing school so she could have a schedule flexible enough to allow her to write on the side. She nursed for 20 years, working in a variety of settings from the newborn nursery to the recovery room, to dialysis. But she never lost her desire to write.

She sold her first book in 1994 to Silhouette Romance but later discovered she had a flair for comedy and branched out to Harlequin Duets and now, to Blaze.

Lori is an adventuresome soul who loves to travel. She’s taken flying lessons, completed two marathons, rode in a hot-air balloon, performed with a professional jazz band, traveled Europe as a teenager, hiked volcanoes in Hawaii, trod on glaciers in Alaska, shot white-water rapids, water-skied, snow-skied, raced all-terrain vehicles, bodysurfed in the Gulf of Mexico, and photographed grizzly bears in Yellowstone.

A Perfect Christmas Gift is book one in the Kringle, Texas series by Lori Wilde. This was so cute. I fell in love with this little town of Kringle. I want to visit there! And I loved meeting some of the residents.

Evan Conner is a workaholic lawyer from Texas. He is forced to spend the holiday in Kringle with his boss who has some health issues. His boss did some things that seriously hurt the town five years ago and he wants to come back and make amends by throwing a huge Christmas Eve party for the residents. With Evan doing all the work of course.

Evan discovers a little stray dog and her puppies in the house they are renting so he calls the local Vet to come by. Little did he think that the adorable woman dressed as an elf that shows up on his doorstep would soon change his life.

Dr. Chloe Anderson is Kringle’s Vet. She loves her job and loves living in Kringle. Her practice is thriving and she has made lifelong friends here. She is immediately taken by the fancy corporate lawyer when she makes a house call at his house. But it soon becomes evident that this is a man who puts his career above everything else in his life. Completely the opposite of her.

These two were so cute together. And I quickly came to greatly dislike Evan’s boss, Peter. I loved the positive way that both Chloe and her mom tackled just about everything. Evan’s boss, Peter, didn’t even stand a chance against Chloe’s mom!

This was a short, sweet story full of holiday goodness. Book two in the series is called A Perfect Christmas Wish and features a little girl that just wants a new daddy for Christmas.

I couldn't finish this one. It was about as exciting as a Hallmark Christmas movie. If you watch one of those, you can at least be doing something else at the same time, like reading a good novel, or doing a puzzle, or having a drinking game with fellow viewers for each romance trope that shows up.

So, you say, why am I writing a review? After all, it's not fair to judge something after only a partial acquaintance. Well, even so, I consider a DNF to be a review. Something that starts out boring me, with 2-dimensional characters and dialogue that's less interesting than the conversations I have with my husband of many, many years every day, cannot be worth my time. I'd rather go talk to my husband.

The heroine of this strikes me as self-righteous and judgmental. The hero lacks a certain amount of self assertiveness. If I had seen this as a Hallmark movie, maybe at least the actors would be beautiful people to delight my eyeballs or the town would have that fairy-tale perfection to it that gives you an exaggerated feeling of Christmas cheer and joy. Instead I had to fill all that in with my brain. Too much work.

This was a cute holiday read. Evan is a corporate lawyer who thinks he has everything he wants. Working for a firm in Dallas, his boss, Peter has him accompany him to his hometown of Kringle, TX. Peter had recently had a heart attack and claims he wants to make amends to the people he wronged five years ago. When they get there, Peter rents a big mansion that belongs to the former owners of the candy factory that Peter talked into moving to Dallas. Evan soon discovers that when they moved, it devastated the town’s economy because they were the town’s biggest employer. After moving in, Evan finds a small dog that gave birth to three puppies and he calls the local vet. Chloe shows up dressed as an elf. She tells him that the puppies are too young to move, despite Peter wanting to get rid of them. After a rough start, he starts to like her and finds out that Peter left her mom, Ruby at the altar. Evan starts to feel uncomfortable when Peter seems to be less contrite and more braggart.
I enjoyed this book and I would recommend it to everyone.

I spent a good amount of this book reading lines aloud to my husband and ranting about them - soooo yeah. Why did I keep reading? Well it was short and I've got a reading goal. I lost track of the number of times our leading man Evan was just enchanted with this small town, or started falling in love with this small town, or just freaking brought up the small town. I wanted to strangle him. Also - I'm so glad he kept reminding us he was from Dallas, I had forgotten!

Probably my biggest issue with this book was the locations being used. Evan is from Dallas, TX. Chloe is from Kringle, TX which is said to be right outside Fort Worth, TX. So. Prepare for my local knowledge rant.

I'm currently living just North of Dallas and grew up in Fort Worth. These locations in the book should be at most an hour and a half apart. There's SO MUCH talk of a "long distance" relationship and how they just can't do it - um...y'all are literally in the same metroplex. Y'all share an airport. Y'all wouldn't be long distance. At one point they talk about driving into Fort Worth for dinner, so Kringle has to be legit right outside of Fort Worth. At one point Chloe says "we live 100 miles apart" - lets discuss. No you don't. The biggest part of Evan's personality is that he's a super fancy Dallas lawyer - so you know his office has to be downtown, and he talks about money a whole lot too so we can safely assume he's living downtown or right near it as well. I may have gone to google maps in anger and tried to make them live 100 miles apart. The most I could get them to was 60 miles and that was generously putting Kringle in Granbury's place. I'd say Granbury is firmly "outside" Fort Worth, but it is on a railway line which was the other requirement.

The distance was the main conflict in this book and it resulted in Evan quitting his fancy lawyer job and moving to Kringle, and IT'S NOT A CONFLICT AHHHHH!

Anyway...with the annoying characters and invented conflict, I'd equate this book to a bad Hallmark Christmas movie - but like not one of the bad ones that's so ridiculous it's good. Just one of the bad ones. It got a 2 star rating because I think a lot of the things that pissed me off wouldn't phase someone without Texas area knowledge and I'm feeling generous.

Corporate lawyer Peter Thomas has returned to the town of Kringle five years after he single-handedly destroyed its economic base. He had a heart attack a few weeks ago and wants to apologise for his behaviour, at least that what he claims.
His employee, attorney Evan Conner has come with him to ensure that all goes well.
They are hardly settled in when a cute, red-headed elf comes a calling - local vet Dr. Chloe Anderson.
She's not happy to find Peter back in town, among his other offences he jilted Chloe's mother at the altar.
As the story unfolds there is more than a hint of "A Christmas Carol", Scrooge in particular. Just why is the supposedly repentant Peter behaving so badly?
"A Perfect Christmas Gift" is a pleasant, but not particularly memorable, read. Towards the end the pace picks up so that all the loose ends are tied together in a few pages - it's too quick.
3 Stars.

Evan Connor came to Kringle, Texas to help his boss over the Christmas holidays with no idea his life was about to change in dramatic ways he never thought possible. A stray dog comes in the doggie door with her litter of puppies and Connor calls the local vet; Chloe Anderson shows up dressed as a very cute elf with lots of bells to check on the dogs.

In the end at a Christmas party for the whole town, Evan announces he is moving to Kringle, has bought the local Kringle Kandy Company and will be moving it back to Kringle from Dallas and that he is in love with Chloe. He in the end ex-boss is very unpleasant, which causes some difficulty until Evan decides to make the big changes in his life. It is a cute clean story set at Christmas time in Kringle, Texas where he finds A Perfect Christmas Gift.

Welcome to Kringle

A Perfect Christmas Gift is sweet Christmas novella set in the wonderful small town of Kringle. Vet Chloe and lawyer Evan are very different on the surface but at Christmas anything can happen. This is a delightful, easy to read romance with great characters and delightful dogs. I look forward to my next visit to Kringle. This is the ideal book to curl up with whilst enjoying a large mug of hot chocolate.

Hallmark worthy

A Christmas card of a story, would make a brilliant afternoon movie. Peter has had a heart attack and returns to Kringle to make amends for past mistakes, taking Evan with him. There, Evan meets Chloe, a vet who teaches him there is more to life than work. Can a romance work when so much divided them? Great holiday read.

A Perfect Christmas Gift: I like how there was a Christmas town called Kringle. I love the small town idea and how everyone looks out for each other. I did not like Peter he was a lawyer that was all talk and nothing else. It's sad that he need to be greedy to get what he wants. I am glad Evan so the bad side of him and realize he didn't want to be a part of it. Evan may be a lawyer but he was not a ruthless type. Evan has a heart he just need to see the town of Kringle to bring out what he really need in his life. Loved all the characters and especial Chloe really cared about everyone and the animals. Chloe broughtout the good points and the bad points in people and how they behaved. I was great. I loved how Evan surprised her at the end of the story! Great writing!

The Perfect Christmas Gift by Lori Wilde is a short, sweet, entertaining Christmas story. It is definitely a bit insta-lovey and semi-unrealistic, but I really liked the characters, the puppies, the town and the message, and I enjoyed the story for what it was meant to be. It wasn’t quite as fleshed out as longer novels might be, but sometimes you just want a cute, festive, feel-good story that has some substance, without being particularly weighty or lengthy. This fit the bill and I look forward to the next in the Kringle, Christmas series.

This was a good storyline with fun and likable characters but the editing should of been better. There was a couple of issues but the biggest was a scene where remembering they were there in the past but it took place in another city altogether. I’m sad that this happened because it turned a cute Christmas romance into a regrettable read. I just couldn’t stop thinking about it.

My impression of this author has been positive but this one didn't do much for me.  I felt like the characters were too cliche and not well developed enough.  The main character Chloe was a veterinarian and yet seemed like a new adult idealist.  She had time all day to run around town with Evan, who also could leave all his clients in Dallas, with no concern for business matters.  It didn't seem like the reality of a small business. It is true that in a small town there may be some more flexibility but not this much.

Chloe's mother and Evan's boss made even less sense.  Evan's boss, Peter, was a rather classic villain.  Luckily, neither Evan or Chloe, let Peter's antics disrupt them. For a smart guy and one with some money, Evan seemed rather unaware of Peter's history in Kringle.

The town is a special place at Christmas time.  We get a bit of it.  The romance was very fast, but it's also a clean romance.  I almost DNFd this one. I didn't fine the business aspects or romance very believable.  But you may enjoy this holiday romance.

Evan is in the town of Kringle, Texas because his boss, Peter, says he wants to make amends to the town. Peter suffered a heart attack and wants to make up for some things that happened 5 years earlier. Evan is enchanted with the town and finds himself meeting Chloe when a dog has puppies in the house he and Peter are staying in. I will say that Chloe was a lot for me. She was judgmental, pushed Evan into some uncomfortable situations and felt almost no remorse for it. She was so invasive in some of her questioning that I gave Evan credit for not calling her out. She gave almost nothing away about her life, yet felt compelled to point out to him that she found his life lacking? Um, no. She also spent a lot of time at her mother's house but that wasn't really explained in the book. Evan did surprise me with his decisions at the end. I liked the book okay, but wanted more of a look at their future than I got. Also, it was brought up a lot of times about them not being able to be "together" because of the long distance between Dallas and Kringle, TX. It was not that far at all and it was way over-blown as being an issue.

Evan Connor comes to Kringle, Texas at the insistence of his boss, Peter. Peter has had a mild attack and now claims he wants to make amends for his wrongdoings years ago. Right? Evan has no idea his life is about to change big time. A stray dog comes in the doggie door with her litter of puppies so Connor calls the local vet. Chloe Anderson is the vet and she shows up dressed as a cute elf with lots of bells. Peter has decided to throw a Christmas party for the whole town (basically to make himself look good. Evan finally has had enough of his conniving boss and quits his job. He has bought the local candy company and will be moving it back to Kringle from Dallas, which is where Peter moved it to last time he was in town and the only one who really benefited from that was him. Peter becomes very unpleasant shortly before he leaves town and can't believe Evan is quitting. This is a cute, clean Christmas story with a happy ending. I received a copy of the book and this is my honest review.

Holiday books are some of my favorites, and with a series set in Kringle, Texas, how could A PERFECT CHRISTMAS GIFT be bad? I've read other books by Lori Wilde, and have really enjoyed them, and I'm happy to say that this sweet romance with just a touch of heat did not disappoint.

It was refreshing to read a romance book that is a 'clean' read, and, while insta-love is not my absolute favorite, the town of Kringle and the characters that live there made this an enjoyable exception, especially because the characters note that things are moving along at an accelerated pace.

Being the first book in an established series, A PERFECT CHRISTMAS GIFT is not a new book, but I am glad to have happened upon it, and enjoyed it enough to continue with the series. If you like your romantic reads with just a splash of spice, this is one for your TBR. ❤️

𝗧𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝘀: Christmas, friends to lovers, small town, insta love

The book is short, it has around 200 pages, but if you read it on kindle, you might find the chapters very long. Otherwise, I thought the story was super cute, and it's perfect to read during Christmas.

Evan came to Kringle to help his boss organize a Christmas ball. During this period his life took a turn. It all started when he met Chloe, a vet which he had liked ever since the first day. After that, he discovers that Peter, his boss, is a liar and decides to resign. In the end, he stays in Kringle and buys the Kandy Company which his ex-boss had moved it to Dallas a few years ago.

Chloe is very clever, loving and the only one who suspected Peter's plan from the beginning. She kept trying to convince Evan about it, but he always said to her that his boss had changed.

The end of the book seemed very short, but overall it was nice.

A Perfect Christmas Gift is an entertaining contemporary small-town romance by Lori Wilde. This is a quick read, perfect for those with limited time for reading. Ms. Wilde has given readers a book that is loaded with all the holiday feels. Evan's boss had a heart attack and decided he wanted to make amends with the people of Kringle. He agreed to travel to Kringle with his boss to help. Chloe is the town vet and when Evan found a dog and puppies he called her thinking she would take them. Chloe and Evan's story is packed with drama, humor, spice and is a fun read. I enjoyed reading A Perfect Christmas Gift and look forward to my next book by Lori Wilde. A Perfect Christmas Gift is book 1 of the Kringle, Texas Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

This was a quick and easy read that sets up a romance with a woman who's a Christmas addict and a guy who never has time to even think about Christmas as he's the right hand man to a Scrooge-like boss. Evan has come to Kringle, TX with Peter, his boss, to celebrate "a perfect Christmas" where his boss can allegedly make up for the damage he caused 5 years ago when he convinced the local candy store, that was the heart of the town, to leave for greener pastures in the big city.

The townspeople aren't happy to see Peter again and voice their objectives to Evan since Peter is keeping a low-profile. Evan with Chloe's help learns to appreciate Christmas though they clash over how to deal with his boss.

If you like puppies, fairytale like romance, and everything Christmas, you'll love this book.

Free short Christmas based read.
Felt sorry for Evan at the beginning, thought Chloe was a bit duplicitous in taking him to the diner as she did.
I thought Evan took it all in stride quite well, especially as HE wasn’t the one who harmed the town.
Just a bit too repetitive about a few things, though overall was a pleasant enough story.
Peter was a completely unlikeable grinch/moron. Glad he left to go bah humbug back in Dallas.
Cute animals and a sweet ending.
Though I’m slightly confused as to whether Dwayne and Kitty were running the candy factory, with Evan as the owner, or Evan was going to run a business he knows nothing about.
Didn’t feel much romance between Chloe and Evan, probably due to them not getting much quality time together.

Evan finds himself in a small Christmas-crazy town to help out his boss. He didn’t expect to like the place so much. Nor did he expect to meet a seriously cute elf in the form of Chloe.

This is a clean romance (for those who care one way or the other) that doesn’t go any further than kissing. It’s a sweet, pleasant Christmas story. For me, the romance was a little underdone, getting serious very fast without a believable journey to get there. Chloe’s attitude is cute, but does come across like she’s about twelve years old. I felt that we were rushed through the story without really stopping to take things in. Still, overall, it was a simple, pleasant read for anyone feeling Christmassy.

Evan works for Peter, who is the scrooge of Kringle, at least that is how the locals feel. Evan is the opposite of Peter and instead tries to see the best of his boss, especially after Peter’s health scare. Evan is forced to tag along with Peter to Kringle to help throw a big holiday party for the citizens of Kringle, while Peter tries to make amends with the town. However, the trip to Kringle opens a new light in Evan’s eyes about his boss.

Evan meets Chloe, the local veterinarian, who first hand knows of Peter. Despite Evan’s coaxing that Peter has changed, Chloe still has a hard time believing it.

As Evan and Chloe gets to know each other, Evan starts to see that maybe the life he thought brought him happiness, wasn’t necessarily happiness.

This was a sweet story and has your holiday feels and miracles. Definitely worth the read.

Chloe Anderson
Evan Conner

Chloe is the Vet for Kingle, Texas and shows up at the house Evan and his boss Peter are renting to see about a dog and her puppies. Evan is a Lawyer and his boss Peter had a heart attack and wanted to come to Kringle to have the perfect Christmas. Chloe and Evan have immediate chemistry but know they need to stay a distance because Evan will go back to Dallas after Christmas, but they both find that’s very difficult. This is a good, fast, sweet read. I really liked Chloe and Evan. I would definitely read more books in the series and other books by this author.

A sweet delightful story.

I really enjoyed this well written clean story. For a Christmas story how could an author come up with a better location than Kringle, Texas!
It has a wonderful storyline and a fantastic cast of characters, who are well introduced and developed through the story. The revealing of what a truly despicable person Peter, Evan's boss, is to enjoying watching Evan realize that he is ready for change in his life. Then there's the evolving of Evan's and Chloe's relationship. This story had a lot going on in it. I didn't want to put it down until I finished it.

A clean and cute Christmas romance

This is a sweet, tender and clean holiday romance. It's an easy read with interesting characters and a fun plot line.

You could also call it "opposites attract" romance too. The hero and heroine are complete opposites, with different ideas about life and paths they're taking. But it's also a story about realizing that you're going down the wrong path and you need to make changes to truly be happy.

A fun read that's not very long even tho it is a full length novel with no cliffhanger. Definitely worth your time!!
