Rick Fuller #6

The Fighter

Rate this book
On a boat somewhere off the coast of Ireland, Rick Fuller is in chains. This is not his only problem. Also aboard the vessel, are three hundred stolen AK47’s, three hundred thousand Euros and a coffin full of pure uncut cocaine. To add to his difficulties, he is guarded by several Yunfakh members who are determined to deliver him into the hands of his arch enemy, Abdallah Al- Mufti, a terrorist who would gleefully like to nail Fuller to the nearest tree.
Meanwhile, on dry land, a senior CIA operative is equally resolute. Marvin Varese’s orders are to prevent the delivery of the ship’s cargo at any cost. He intends to blow the boat out of the water and send Fuller to his death.
However, Des Cogan, Lauren North and Victoria Sellers, have other ideas.
THE FIGHTER is the final chapter in the current series of Rick Fuller thrillers. Be prepared for a very bumpy ride.

I have enjoyed this entire series, with fast paced action and I liked the story being told from the perspective of the 3 main characters. As I had grown fond of the 3 main characters I found the ending on this book very sad as i was hoping at all would be left to lead a peaceful life. A sad ending to a truly excellent series. Any future stories with Rick and Des wouldn't be the same without Lauren.

Loved every single one of these books, and this was no exception...well till the end! never felt so much anger at an ending than this one just wanted to throw the thing away. Crappy crappy ending, dont want to spoil it for others but it was just unbelievable how the writer ends this book....Could have ended better that's all I'll say !!

SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER I have loved every one of the Rick Fuller books. I listen on Audible and Nicholas Camm's voice is a wonderful part of the attraction. Especially Egghead. He is brilliantly voiced. However. In this book, Rick and Lauren are still platonic. Come on. How long is this? And they are in dangerous jobs, and everyone knows danger lights the fire of lust; it is basic biology. I don't care how OCD and messed up Rick is, when that last job finished, he let Lauren go home alone? What red-blooded male would have done that? And he was shot in the torso, but didn't need hospital? I don't care how good a nurse Lauren is, he would not have been back on his feet within days with 'nothing major hit'. The torso is stuffed with organs that would not have appreciated a bullet even if it did do a through and through. Neither of those plot lines washed for me. And the ending. Dear Larry going from decent guy to psycho? Decent guys do do this, ask any battered wife, but there are indications. And when the plot gave us indications, Rick let her go home alone? That was two reasons to stay together that night. Ok, so walking off into the sunset holding hands would not have fitted this series, but this ending felt lazy. I would have preferred her to stay the blissful night with Rick, head out with him for breakfast, and be run over by a bright red double decker. I could have bought into that. The irony of a traffic accident taking her away after all the bullets and danger would have felt right. Rick's response to her death was so well written, that I felt cross that so much of the plotting at the end felt sloppy. Robert White, you are better than that.

Another mind blowing read!!!

Why oh why have I finished this book? Why didn't it carry on for another few hundred pages so I can stay totally engrossed. I have really fell head first in to this series of books. No guilty feeling of putting everything aside just to indulge myself in this novel. The characters are so good. The sense of humour and camaraderie between the team is something you want to be part of. I really hope this series continues and we don't have to wait too long!!

Didn't care for the ending, or frankly, the turn of character of the female lead. She has always had the most depth in development and it seems he decided to toss the complete "bible" on her and craft someone unrecognizable to get to to a predetermined conclusion. She may have not been the series epicenter but she and Des were the only things that made the stories interesting. Rick Fuller isn't. He is one-dimensional, He isn't likeable. You don't root for "him," you root for Des and Lauren. It seems the author didn't quite understand that or he didn't care.

The Rick Fuller series are absolutely action-packed, page after page - but the grammar (particularly the punctuation) is really poor. As is some of the spelling - again, particularly in relation to the words used to give one of the characters a Scottish accent. If I were Mr White, I'd take a long look at my editing team.

Despite those distractions, still a good read which could be even more enjoyable if the above items were addressed.

So, let me get this straight.

For however many books she’s been with the group, Lauren has taken on gun wielding gangsters, roided up drug dealers, attempted rapists and who knows what else, but a simple police officer was able to get the better of her?

I mean, I’m not sorry to see her go. I was getting fed up of the will they/wont they.

Story felt a bit weak, and now Fuller has fallen to pieces.

I like to read a series of books. You know, follow one character through one adventure after another; get to know them; feel it's real. I've read Stephen Leatherman and Andy Mcnab, and now I've read Robert White the Rick Fuller series.
I hope that's not the end. What a good story...
I think there might be enough legs for one more !
Going to read another Leatherman now 🙂

Rick Fuller thriller

I've been very much enjoying this series and wasn't at all surprised by the ending, which I believe some have been unhappy with. These books have been written with some knowledge and I have found it easy to enjoy the ride and keep me turning the pages. Well done.

Another excellent book

An excellent follow up but hopefully not the end of Rock Fuller and Des.
Wonderful scene setting in Manchester and surrounding locations. I know many of them well.
Until the next time.....

This bloke is good, a great writer, as good as any of the great action writers. The characters are good, the storylines are good, the action is nonstop along with an outstanding background storyline. I hope this series continues, I didn't want it to end.

Wow

What another great chapter in the life of Rick Fuller. Is this the end for Rick and Des? Would of been nice for them to live happily ever after, but don't think it was gonna happen
Will be re-reading all the books again when I'm on my holiday.

Great Read, Great Series

Entertaining from the start of book one through to the end of book 6.
Great writing style but did take me a little time to get used to it.
The book is authentic regarding firearms and the tactics and training seem to come from experience.
Fantastic.
Thanks

Well, this really does seem like the end. The end of a brilliant saga. I always feel a little sad, a little empty after the last story. Excellent stuff Robert. Thank you.
