Books 4 to 6 in J.C. Ryan's bestselling Rex Dalton series.
Sideswiped When Rex nearly bumps into someone from his former life, it's time for Rex and Digger to get out of India. Rex goes to Thailand, where he plans to undergo cosmetic surgery to change his looks and hide from people in his past. But then he meets Sunstra. Her name means 'girl with beautiful eyes'.
Right from the beginning they become fast friends, and before long there is a romance in the making. But then Sunstra disappears. Her family receives a ransom ultimatum: Sunstra is alive, but if her father doesn't sell his land, she won't stay that way for long.
It's a race against the clock for Rex and Digger to save Sunstra's life, and time is running out.
The Inca Con Rex Dalton and Digger are exploring the remarkable history of Peru when they befriend a retired American couple. The couple invites them to join their expedition to a remote village high up in the Andes Mountains to inspect an archaeological site in which they want to invest.
But on arrival in the village, it doesn't take long for Rex to discover that his new friends are victims of a cleverly designed con. This con is run by people who will do anything to make sure Rex and Digger don't interfere.
The French Girl Rex Dalton and Digger are looking forward to a trouble-free holiday on the idyllic islands of Vanuatu in the South Pacific Ocean. Swimming, playing on the beach, fishing, and hikes. Nothing but the laid-back lifestyle for the two of them.
Then Digger introduces Rex to a beautiful French girl, not once, but twice. Soon, Rex and the girl become good friends. Then she disappears, and Rex is accused of having something to do with it.
Thus, begins a series of dramatic and life-threatening events with international repercussions with Rex, Digger and the French girl in the center of it.
A phenomenal, exciting, rollercoaster of a read! A great world building with dedicated and lovable characters. Tremendous fast paced stories, with delirious and edge of seat action scenarios. A fascinating description of villains that makes you glad they no longer exist, at least in the books. Lol. I highly recommend this series!
"Sideswiped" by J C Ryan, Book 4 in the Rex Dalton series is perhaps the weakest of the six books in the series that I have read, just very straight forward without the usual twists and turns one comes to expect in this series. Rex and his trained war dog "Digger" go to Thailand, meet beautiful Sunstra for whom Rex develops romantic feelings, she is kidnapped in order to force her father to deed over valuable land, Rex and Digger free her and they remain platonic friends as Rex and Digger leave Thailand.
I find this series to be well written with terrific plots that are different enough each time to keep me reading. I like the main characters & their stories. Rex is a super hero of sorts (who like Jack Reacher) manages to fall into all kinds of situations where his unique skills save the day, with the help of his side kick, Digger, the wonder dog! I just love it when I find a new author (for me) who keeps me intrigued thru multiple story lines. Will definitely read more of JC Ryan.
Masterful Character Development, Plots, Environments, etc.
Full-bodied character development in life-like scenes full of real human-like emotions, feelings and actions and the greatest "service" dog that ever lived make J.C. Ryan's Rex Dalton novels a benchmark of reading enjoyment!
Three good solid well written stories set in different parts of the world. Rex and Digger doing their thing righting wrongs and bringing justice to those who deserve it, no quarter for the bad guys and lots of help for those who need it. In Thailand he foils crooked politicians to rescue Sunstra (Girl with beautiful eyes) and leave her to pursue her career to improve politics in Thailand then off to Peru in the guise of an archaeological blogger to save a couple from a con and a village from radiation poisoning. Finally rescuing a girl from Russian oligarch and French politicians (what is it with these politicians ?) in a story which could have ended sooner if the Russians weren't such gluttons for punishment. Digger is definitely the hero in these stories and always gets his man and the ladies love him.
Rex Dalton is Jack Reacher with a dog! As a fan of Lee Childs' Reacher character, I enjoyed these three stories immensely. There were, regretfully, a large number of spelling/grammatical errors. It would appear that a lot of modern authors do not make use of a proof-reader - or even proofread their books by themselves! As a non-fiction writer, I would never publish without my own proof-reading and that of at least two others!
Like Jack Reacher, Dalton does not go looking for trouble - but attracts it like a magnet attracts iron! I was very pleased that, also like Reacher (or should that be Lee Childs?) neither the main character, nor anyone else, sunk to the use of profane, or blasphemous, language. Other authors, please take note!
JC Ryan's Rex Dalton Thrillers #4 - 6 boxset is a great read! Just as thrillers #1 - 3 deliver, so do these 3 books. If you want a series filled with interesting global locations, mysteries, and circumstances, adventures, danger, a variety of characters, and main characters (1 human/1 canine) you an get behind, this is the one. I am looking forward to reading the next books in this series.
I absolutely love JC Ryan’s books!! This trio of stories provide plenty of depth of characters and plots to keep you busy. Following Rex and his dog Digger from Peru to Vietnam and Geneva to Lyon, France is told in an engaging, rough and tumble writing style. And you get to learn geography and about different cultures along the way!! Wonderful reading!
THIS BOXSET INCLUDES BOOKS 4-6 OF THE REX DALTON SERIES. THIS WAS A REALLY GREAT SET THAT KEEPS YOU HOOKED THROUGHOUT EACH BOOK. EACH BOOK HAS A WELL WRITTEN, INTERESTING STORYLINE. IF YOU’RE LOOKING FOR A GOOD READ WITH SUSPENSE, ACTION AND HARD TO PUT DOWN THEN I RECOMMEND THIS BOXSET.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The Rex Dalton series, I’ve read the first 6 books, is fun, intriguing reading. The character, Rex Dalton, is an American James Bond with an altruistic bent toward people in despair. And the author’s vocabulary has extended mine by about 4 words per book, a bonus to the entertainment value.
Rex Dalton continues his swath of demolition through evil throughout the globe accompanied by his by-default partner, the four-legged Digger, rescuing fair damsels in distress.
These three books make me wish I read book 1 to 3 first, but I am still drawn into the story within the series. While I should have read the first 3 books before this set, I am still going to do so.

I have Started with book one during our third UK lockdown and haven't stopped yet, a truly exhilarating series, with more twists and turns than a mountain road, and the wonderful antics of large service dog. Just brilliant.
I have read all three stories in this collection and several others in this series. They are all top notch action thrillers that keep your interest until the very end. I highly recommend all from this author.
This was a good deal. Rex Dalton and his super dog Digger try to get away and just enjoy being tourists. But trouble always has a way of finding them. And when it does Rex and Digger always win.
Rex and Digger are on the move again. Per usual, each book in the collection is great, although I missed Digger’s POV which was in the first books. Nevertheless it was a great read! Recommended!
The stories are always very interesting,Exciting, and creative. I do not own any pets , but I love the way he uses The dog and what the dog is thinking.😁😁 It makes it so much more entertaining.
This collection wasn’t bad. If I hadn’t read the previous books I may have given a higher rating as all the books were great adventures but, unfortunately, not as good as the previous ones.
The adventures of Rex Dalton and his dog Digger give the reader non stop Action reading. Their exploits and all the different circumstances that they fall into make for a really enjoyable reading experience. Top to put down until the last page is read.
In true Rex Dalton tradition these books do not disappoint. These are set in the eighteen months after Rex sets Rehka up as his assistant in Mumbai. He helps those in distress in Thailand, Peru and France along with Digger. These books should not be missed and must be on your TBR pile.
One of the best book series I have ever read. Lots of action, adventure and breathtaking descriptions of different countries. Rex Dalton is a great read.
A thrilling set of Rex Dalton novels. You'll be on the edge of your seat, up all night, begging for more. The only negative is waiting for the next book!!!
