The Eighth Chamber is a Young Adult suspenseful mystery about a very brave girl who dared to search for her missing mother. Oscar, her beloved curious cat, found the first piece of evidence that began Amy’s exploration. Nick Johnson’s brother had gone missing, too. Amy, Nick and Oscar went through a lot of pain and suffering to unravel the hidden island mystery in this story.

The author does an amazing job of embedding seeds of suspense, painting vivid pictures of settings, and developing three smart likable characters throughout the story.

The story was a little slow in getting started and a few awkward word choices were used but they did not take away from the excitement and suspense of this mystery.
