"HOLY CRAP. THE WORLD HAS JUST GONE CRAZY AS HELL. APOCALYPTIC LIFE SUCKS BIG ONES."

☆☆☆☆☆

A weapon we (The U.S.) developed, sold to a foreign party by a traitor who feels that he was wronged, used against the U.S. sending the country back to pre pre-eighteen hundreds, and then comes the invasion. With the U.S. government taken out of the picture, the population becomes easy targets for enslavement and outright murdered.

A small group of survivors from a plane crash on their way to Seattle for the Thanksgiving holiday hike out from the crash site enduring the harsh winter of Montana seeking shelter, food, and a place to survive TEOTWAWKI. Phoenix, Lydia, Julian, Yuma, Tara, and Thor stumble through the treacherous forest filled with dangers all around coming to the realization they are not no longer at the top of the food chain and are unequipped to survive without help.

Thankfully, the group are found by Miles who takes them in and offers sanctuary and with Jael they become not only friends but a family filled with love and respect, and the determination to protect each other at all costs. They work and train for the new world that is trusted upon them.

On the other side of the country, Blake, Alice, and Kena deal with thieving and murderous tugs with no respect for life and property in South Carolina. Working together they clean up their little community taking out the trash with extreme prejudice.

Monica escapes the brutality of the invaders in Seattle. Heading east, she finds a group of people using CB radios to set up a network of relays to inform the survivors and to move people across distances safely giving hope in a time that seems like all hope is gone for good.

Pythagoras Falls by S.A. Ison is an action-packed masterpiece that will hold your interest throughout with intriguing situations that will leave you feeling that even in the face of unbelievably hardships, there is hope. S.A. Ison writes with a voice that brings you into the storyline and you will actually feel as if you know each of the cast of characters personally and are right there next to them in their loss and gains.

This book is a very enjoyable book and I can honestly tell you that you will also find yourself enjoying this book too. I am currently reading through all of the books S.A. has written and with only a few left she's become one of my favorite authors. Her time travel books and series are truly a work of art. If you haven't had the opportunity to read her books yet I recommend them.

Quotes:
"Sometimes being smart doesn't mean a lot if you don't have common sense."

"The last time he'd done hand-to-hand combat was over thirty years ago. The most action he got now was slapping at mosquitoes."

"The world had changed. She didn't believe it changed that much, only the restraints were off, the thin veneer ripped away. Evil was now free to roam."

"Good grades and education are the only way out of poverty."
I would have to add hard work. Grades and education doesn't mean crap if you're lazy and don't put in the time and hard work.

"The thrill of the kill - - more like the thrill of taking out the trash."

Book review

As usual this author has put out a winner. The story line was good and nothing was crazy or outlandish. It was close to reality and the characters very believable. The U.S. Government and the other countries actions were spot on, this could happen. If it does I hope that the American people follow the example of what happens to the government and politicians in this story Looking forward to the next book that this author comes up with.

Great story

Post apocalyptic rather than the slipping through time as most are, but pretty good character development. Overall a good read.

Too many typos

Excellent character development and world building, but the typos distracted too much. I also found the blasphemous use of the Lord's name very offensive. Believing Christians such as myself are not prudes, but why can't you use some other expletive other than Ch#$%t? Please consider an alternative. Thank you.

This book has a lot of one dimensional contrasts. The government is bad and creates an evil weapon designed to destroy entire countries. One scientist is a good guy and leaves and others are just nasty or traitorous. Almost all of the people attacking others are just plain rapists and not just desperate people. The invaders are obviously bad guys and cause terrible deprivation and brutality. There was a bit of falling into male and female traditional roles, though Alice had some nice character growth. I kept expecting some kind of connection between the east coast group and the Montana group, but it never happened. There were some editing issues with use of “Me and”, instillation rather than installation and possessive for Miles was a challenge. It ended fairly well, though a bit quickly.

High Action

From start to finish this story is tells at with action. It's easy to invest in the characters, through their trials and their secrets! To imagine a weapon as powerful as Pythagoras, devastating the world, but with throwback advantages is creative and mind blowing. For people to rally and overcome the destruction becomes a blessing!

Pretty good EMP yarn

I got caught up in this story pretty quickly and couldn't put it down. Makes one fear lest we fall into lawlessness and have to be set back two hundred years and form our government all over again. Make America Great again is going to be my moto!

The premise was good, the execution was just OK. A targeted EMP that could be delivered to a specific location, area or country being developed by the US. There are some problems and unknown to anyone some of the data has been falsified or simply omitted. None of this is spoiler, you learn about it very, very early in the book.
What ensues is total chaos and that makes up the remainder of the story which into a survivalist tale told by people in three areas, the Southeast, the Midwest and the far west as well as Texas. The issue with this, although the characters are all different, they are still all the same. They have to deal with similar problems but the approach is all the same. It does get a little boring at times.
The of course there is an "outside event", the happenings on the west coast which to a degree strains credibility and ignores one actual fact -- US nuclear submarines roaming the depths of all oceans which not been affected by the EMP....enough said.
I will say the main characters are well drawn, Their actions fit their abilities and knowledge in a society that has at best been thrown back to the 18th century [with a few exceptions].
The book was enjoyable but I kept asking myself, why didn't they do this or that.

Good

The story started out great, but became kind of monotonous and predictable about halfway through. Not the normal story I become used to from the author.

I did not care for this book. The point of view in the book switched so much, with no warning that I stayed confused most of the book. I got to the last few chapters and just started skimming paragraphs, because I was just -done- with this book. I felt like it should've been several different books instead of following so many people at once. 2 stars was generous of me, truly.
