I Can't Sit Still is a book that does a great job of showing what it is like living with ADHD. This book would be a great book to have in an elementary classroom to give students who have ADHD a mirror and would give students who do not a window into what is is like to have ADHD. I think this book depicts ADHD in a realistic way but they still try and make it understandable for children as well. Not only does this book depict ADHD but it also shows ways to make different tasks easier with examples at home and at school. Overall i enjoyed this book and I will be adding it to the list of books I will be getting for my classroom.
I can't sit still is the perfect informational story for students who don't have ADHD to see how it affects everyday life, or as a relatable story for students who are living with ADHD. The author did a great job at shedding light on a topic thats not talked about often in books or classes. The story is based on the main character a little boy, and his everyday struggles in the classroom and with his teacher and classmates.
Good book for explaining ADHD to young kids. Gives examples of behaviors that may cause difficulty at home or school and gives examples of ways to break chores down to make them more manageable. May not be the right book for people that are opposed to meds or behavioral therapy but a nice fit for everyone else. My son read this and wasn't a fan - it's written in kid format but it's not really kid-directed, if that makes sense. It sounds like a grown up trying to talk to a kid but not really knowing how.
