I really didn't mean to piss anyone off. I'm just the new girl. I'm trying to get through senior year at a new school in a new damn city. So I tell myself, Keep your head down. Check Don't bring attention to yourself. Check Stay the hell off everyone's radar. Whoops It looks like the gorgeous rich boy that rules the halls of Madison Falls High has his eyes set on me and worst of it is I want nothing to do with him. I don't want the attention. Now I have a damn bullseye on my back and his ex, Queen B is out for blood. How much worse can my damn life really get? FML!
Authors Note: Madison Falls High is a high school bully romance, teen and young adult series. This is book 1 and does end with a cliffhanger. It's recommended for mature readers 18+ because of cursing and 'certain scenes.' If you're cool with that, then dive in and enjoy the ride!
I'm rating this one a 3.5 out of 5 The theme of this story is bullying, but once Chad, the school hot shot, falls for Sophia's natural beauty, etc., etc., Sophia turns a blind eye to her boyfriend's entitled, bullying behaviour (poor Truman!). Ironically, she actually enjoys having Chad order lowly freshmen around on her behalf, and even makes fun of Truman herself.
I was liking Sophia as a character up to that point. She was her own person and did not bow down to peer pressure - that is, until she started dating the king of the school. The second book in this series had some continuity issues. Very disappointing after such a good beginning, but this author, who can write a decent sentence, ended up chasing all the usual YA tropes. Plenty of F-bombs and J.C.'s all over the place, so if this bothers you, stay away. I read the first two books in this series, but will not bother to read the third one, where Callie finally gets her comeuppance. (Sorry, that blackmail plot was a bit too far-fetched for me.) Also, the author tried to make us feel sorry for Callie at one point, but then turned on her own character and made her the Black Witch of all Time. As I said, continuity issues spoil an otherwise acceptable New Adult level story.
I felt as though I was reading a book written by a middle schooler. The characters had no personality, there was n angst or any type of development. The hero was just a cocky dumbass with little depth, the heroine was shallow and just blah. No chemistry, not sure how anyone hooked up.. This book should be in the elementary section of the library.
Sophia and her mom move to Madison Falls after her parents divorce. But like any other High School there are ups and downs, there are jocks and nerds and of course the infamous cheerleaders 📣
Chad and Sophia meet on the way to school and eventually her senior year starts off on the wrong foot. But Sophia is a fighter and she’s not taking anything lying down❣️
I really like Sophia’s character as she is genuinely nice but also she has some kickass skills😍 Looking forward to see what’s in store for Sophia next❤️ I received an advanced copy via Booksprout and I voluntarily leave my honest review.
This book has everything teenage angst is made of; bullies, new school fear, new friends, teenage death & love. This is a new author for me but she kindly let me read for her. I found a strong female character with a devious male character. I found that I could not put this book down until the last page and even then I wanted to continue with volume 2. If you only buy 1 book this month make it this one !!😄
Reading through the bullymance trope, I feel as to stop them all becoming and feeling the same thing I need to take it in chunks and read it now and again. After taking a few months of break , I have started to get back into it and enjoy it. Like most books, you get some really good ones and others are just average. Unfortunately for me, Collide was one of those borderline Bullymances and I had to push myself to finish it. It won't be a series I will be continuing as it just fell a bit too flat for me. In Collide, our main girl Sophia has just moved to Madison Falls with her mother who has just taken a job for Mr. Humphrys as his nurse. This means she has to start a new school for her senior year and of course, she wishes to be invisible but on her first day, she attracts the attention of not only the hottest guy in school Chad Minor but also Queen B Callie Humphry. I have to admit I was in two minds about this book as I loved the fact that Sophia keeps standing up to Callie and puts Chad in his place. That is right until the last few chapters, where the pair become an item and of course Callie gets jealous. I do feel though that we missed a whole chapter or chunk of book between the last two chapters as it went from one extreme to another and it left me thinking huh? What did I miss and I had to re-read the last page to make sure I hadn't missed anything important, I hadn't so the ending left me confused. Overall, if you are in the mood for a bullymance you could try Collide but for me, it's a hit or miss series.
Very good well written. Very fast paced, keeps you reading to find out how Sophie deals with a new school and all new friends in her senior year. So much drama for someone trying to keep a low profile. Between catching the eye of the popular QB and trying to just get through her Senior year. She has a tough time. Everyone seems to have secrets, but trying to just get through the year is a tough one. Definitely worth the read. Awesome storyline. I can't wait for book 2. I volunteered to read an advanced copy and I'm so very glad I did.
Being the new girl in new school is hard enough with all the drama that would go on. The story flows pretty good. The beginnings is what throws me off really, but after that is keeps you going to the very last page . But this is a good story that I would like to see finished. Sophia is the new girl in town. Being new has all the normal high school drama perks you could ever ask for. Seems that everyone in the school wants a piece of her. But what if she doesn't? She has her own issues and drama at home. Can she last the year out?
Really wanted to like this one but the writing felt super elementary and basic. It was like there was a deeper story waiting to come out but 70% of the way in, it was still too simple. Couldn’t finish it.
*Storytelling richness, style, flow, and character development. *Mutifaceted lead characters. Was very easy to feel for them, and to like them. *The semi-dual point of view. I liked that it wasn't split equally between Sophia and Chad. It's more of Sophia's story and that really suits the suspenseful moments.
* The cover model resembles author LJ Shen, the bulk of whose work consist of angsty, dark, teenage focused contemporary romances, the most famous being Vicious- a bully story. I don't know if the picture was intentionally chosen for this as a tribute, but it's actually why I gravitated to this book cover in the first place and had me buy it.
WHAT DIDN'T WORK FOR ME:
*That CLIFFHANGER!!! Argh! Okay, the cliffhanger still worked, but I didn't realize there would be one at first.. Luckily there is another book on the way, available Nov. 21st. *The supporting characters could have used more filling in. Sophia's girl squad, for example. I have no idea what they really look like. Are they taller, shorter, what hair color, face shape, body weight... What we get is just too vague. At first, I thought it was a deliberate thing that we didn't focus too much on what they appeared to be, because it was Sophia's first day at school... but it would have been great to fill in more detail as she's getting to know them at lunch and after school the first day. I get that Sophia is probably a regularly self centered teenager but there is no way she hasn't noticed a hair color or eye color. It made me feel like the mention of them as characters was intentionally to be forgettable. (I'd like to know what Brody looks like. Lily. Alexi. Amanda. Chad's sister.) *Why. Oh why, was Amanda not forthcoming about her conflict with Callie to begin with? Why was that hidden for months from Sophia, while only vague words of warning were given to her? I just don't understand Amanda's motivation in hiding that. Am I to believe Amanda had sex with Chad too? I'm so lost on that. * Other plot details were skimmed over briefly, but left me wondering more on how volleyball tryouts went? Who are the better players? Sophia apparently loves volleyball, but I didn't really feel that joy leap off the pages for me. We see only avoidance between Sophia and her dad. Her mom is vaguely mentioned and absent for most of the book. I'm going to have to read over different parts to pick up on more information, because I have no idea when the next book will be released... and I'm cursing myself for reading this so soon after the release day. *School details. What does the school look like inside and outside? Does it have 1, 2 or 3 floors? What color are the lockers and interior? How many students should I imagine go to this school? 1000? Less? *Did Sophia ever go to that counselor/psychologist to talk about Rebecca? That's completely unanswered. She said to her mother that she would go.. but then.. we have no idea if she actually did.
OVERALL OPINION:
Don't let my criticisms fool you. I loved this book. Couldn't put it down. I intended to read it for a few minutes, and ended up reading the whole thing in one day, between all my tasks. Devoured. K. Walker has a really beautiful writing style that I find incredibly smooth to read. I will definitely be reading more of her work in the future. Consider me a fan.
Collide is book one in the Madison Falls high series. This story is short, mixed pace and entertaining. I read this book in one sitting. Collide is the first book of K. Walker’s that I have read. I found the writing style easy to follow, the characters interesting and the storyline entertaining. When Sophia’s parents divorce, she finds herself in a new town starting a new school. From day one, she is intrigued by the ‘’king’’ of the school. She is also establishing where she fits in and making new friends. Sophia has a dark past. Chad is the king of the school. Everyone answers to him. He has girls after him and gets whatever he wants. Chad also has a past with a horrific event. I have to be honest, I didn’t see the appeal that Chad had. Sophia was attracted to him but he went through at least three girls a night/day. This book left me intrigued for more so I will be reading book two.
Sophia is starting her senior year in a new school after her parents divorce. She doesn't want to make any waves just stay under the radar but when the high school quarter back and the school snob fest of a cheer squad decide to take notice and make your life difficult what's Sophia to do fight back. She has to deal with the jerks the snobs and the over sexed boys but she eventually weeds threw the trash and ends up with the bad boy Chad things are great until there nought. Now she's hurt and she knows just who to blame there all gone pay. Liked the story line would have liked to see a better cliff hanger it wasn't a build up just kind of slamed you in the face at the end left me trying to figure out what the crap just happened really hope book two in the series will clear this up.
I was allowed to receive and advance copy of this book via Booksprout and this is my honest review.
I have to say that this is the first book I've read, where I despise the love interest. Chad was a womanizing jerk from page 1 to the end. I hated his character. I wouldve been happier with her hooking up with the creepy guy that came out of nowhere on the beach. I finished the book, o just dont know if I want to continue on with the series. I liked Sophia's character, and her friends. Callie is the typical meangirl.. I'm just so frustrated with Chad's character. And honestly, irritated Sophia was attracted to him at all.
Collide is a great start to the Madison Falls High series. This is first time for me with K. Walker. I found it well written, strong characters, lots of angst and drama. When Sophia’s parents divorce she finds herself in Madison Fall as the new girl for her senior year. We meet Panty-melting hottie Chad and his football crew along with mean girl Callie and her cheerleaders plus a BFF type in Amanda and the volleyball team. I definitely enjoyed reading this book and I’m looking forward to reading the next in the series. Note: Ends in a cliffhanger.

The book was okay-ish, I mean don't get me wrong it was readable but the story was a basic seen all around cliche teenage book. So you get it and think it's going to be an easy to read book, it's going to be a breeze. It sure is but because it seems as if it were written by a middle schooler. The storyline is not that much developed, the author could really have gotten into it but everything is too superficial, not realistic at all and for me the worst part is how she has written it. It's one of those books you just want to stop reading because it seems as if it were taken out of Wattpad.
Omg this book pulled at the heart strings. With so much tragedy and bullying to a degree, we see a strong character in Sophia. We get to see her stand up to everything and everyone at her new school, after the death of her best friend. To round the book off with a happy side but to end in a low and sad way. Poor Sophia need book two to see if she can come out on top
It could have been a good read but everything seemed so shallow and then all of a sudden the pace would increase. Seems to have a whole lot of characters and scenes that aren’t really important to the story as a whole. The best part was the end as at least there was angst.
Loved the characters and story! Hot guys and Strong heroine make it fun. Cannot wait for the next book!!! Plenty of surprises and action going on... A horrible cheerleader bully and rich group make life miserable, but I have faith that our heroine will come out on top!
I really enjoyed the characters in this book. Really looking forward to number 2. Girls can be so back stabbing. Hope she shows him she doesn’t need him to be happy.
The bullying isn't severe. The bully has a clear reason for her actions. Some phrases are redundant but otherwise relevant. I enjoyed this read n will continue to the next.
Sophia was far from poor but that's what rumor the head cheerleader started at her new school. She draws attention from the hottest guy in school. He helps her over a hurdle from a past tragedy but all of a sudden things change. This book has a cliffhanger ending
No raiting because DNF. The book was very high school and the H and h had such similar stories it was hard to distinguish between them. Nothing remarkable to keep me interested. Nothing wrong with the structure, editing or grammar.
Sophia has moved to a new town but is grief stricken after losing her bestie. She meets chad and at first she doesn’t particularly like him but they end up together

This was a hot steamy erotic romance story perfect for a quick afternoon read. A great heart pounding read. The story was very well written with great characters. It drew me in and I had it finished in one sitting. I would highly recommend this read.
To bad fathers can’t put family first. Getting out in a new town senior year dealing with being the new girl in school. Having ghost from the past in tutor dreams. Thinking you have found the one only to have it thrown in your face is a lot to handle
Starting new school is tough. Add rich snobby teens, and even more difficult. Good progression in high school events, with cliffhanger ending. On to next read to see how it ends.
this was a great start to the series! she just wanted to be left alone. new girl in the school who already has a target on her back. thanks to him and his ex. you have to read to find out what happens
This was a really good storyline. I hope Sophia gets even and can't wait to read about it. So onto book 2. I recommend this book Thanks Jamie Nibarger Ellis
