These books never fail to disappoint. It says you do not have to read them in order however, I suggest that you do. There are character references that leave unanswered questions if read out of order. I highly suggest this series!!
I love Amish stories. The lifestyle seems so different from the life non-Amish lead at first, but basics are still there. Fami!ies love each other; work is honest and hard; GOD is at the center of the community; and there are good as well as evil people living aside each other. This set of books tells a story of some of the trials Amish men and women face. They deal with tragedies much like Englischers do. Some things are secretive and best kept private, while others are bound to change lives forever. It's hare for outsiders to understand the nonprosecutary attitudes of the Amish. Vengence, they believe, truly is the Lord's. And while shunning those who break from the Church is a hard fact, it is difficult, to say the least on family members who are forbidden to visit or even speak to those who are shunned. Still, the love of sisters will prevail. It doesn't die just because one leaves the community. After the death of her parents, a young woman has nowhere to go to keep herself and her younger sister safe from one who was seeking to harm her. She turns to the only family she knows, her mother's Amish sister and her family. Fearing that they would be rejected, she is wonderfully surprised with the welcome they give upon her arrival. As she and Zoe learn more about the community and Amish customs, Charlotte, Charlie to her friends, is drawn into a cocoon of warmth like she never could have believed. And then the secrets begin slipping out....
Excellently written books. I got this in a mass giveaway. I am drawn to books about the Amish
Amish Alias, by Ashley Emma, is book 4 in A Covert Police Detective Unit series. Charlotte's mother has past away from cancer and now her family is in an accident that kills her father. Her ex-fiance, Alex, is threatening her to get the ring back that she legally had the right to sell and did so. Trying to get away from him, she staged the accident scene to look like she and her young sister, Zoe, also died. She has memories of a road trip with her mother to visit an aunt in Unity Maine. She and her sister take minimal items and a bus to get to the Amish relatives she knows nothing about, feeling she will be safe there. This story was great. It did not have the carry over character's from the past book, so it really could be a stand alone story. I enjoyed the memory both she and her uncle's helper have of her trip there years earlier. I am amazed at how quick she saw and took advantage of the opportunity her father's accident gave her to get away. And how she knew how to go about it. I also enjoy the way the Amish reach out to help others in their community. The secret her mother and aunt kept really surprised me. I am looking forward to other books by this author to see if we can find out more about the characters in this story. This book has a small additional story at the end, that is not available anywhere. Esther's Amish Secret. This also is a must read. The author generously gave this ebook to readers. I was not required to write a review.
I really enjoyed reading this story, it gives you so much first hand knowledge about this community of Amish people. After the death of their mother, Charlotte is frightened of her ex-fiance after he threatens her. She takes her little sister Zoe and flees to her aunt's Amish community. With this danger and other things that happen in the Amish community Charlotte isn't sure who she can trust. This is a great story with lots of things happening at the same time. There is mystery, suspense and when Charlotte meets someone from her past, romance. I also liked getting to know more about this community of Amish people. I really would enjoy spending a few days in one of these communities myself, I find a lot of the way they live their lives to be not only interesting but beautiful how they put their relationship with God above everything else. I received a free download of this book from the publisher, this review is totally my own honest opinion.
Charlotte (Charlie) was 9 years old when her mother took her to visit her Aunt Ester in a small Amish community in Main. Although Charlie never got to meet her Aunt Esther she meets Elijah. A boy about her age. 15 years later Charlie and her younger sister Zoe find themselves orphans running from Charlie's ex fiance. They went to Unity Main to live with Aunt Ester and her family. What follows is an amazing series of events that will surprise you and hold your interest until the very end. An amazing story by Emma Ashley. I received an ARC of this book from the author and this is my voluntary and honest review.
Amish Alias is a heartwarming book written by Ashley Emma in her Covert Police Detective Unit series. The characters are very likeable and tell this story filled so many secrets very well. The storyline takes many twist and turns which will keep the readers interest. At the end of the story there is a novella telling the secret between Amish sisters Esther and Joanna which is devastating and heartbreaking.
I was not given a complimentary copy of this book to read and review. I was not approached to post a favorable response and all opinions are my own. I have rated this story with four stars for meeting my expectations of a wonderful story that I can highly recommend to others.
I started reading this series cause book one was a free one. As I was reading it I called my daughter, she loves mystery books, and told her that this first book was awesome. I was not a mystery or thriller book reader, but this series has changed my mind. I cannot wait to finish and start the next one. These books have you at edge thinking, what’s going to happen, in a great wonderful and loving way. It has all the love, family, friends and with a clean loving plot. As you get towards the end and you think you had it all pictured out, bam, there becomes a twist and the book even got more interesting.
Ashley delivers yet again in this romance - suspense - faith-filled story, set among an Amish community. There are a couple of surprises which add mystery and intrigue to the plot too! All the characters are colourful and authentic; the Amish characters and their childlike faith in God and uncluttered way of life is so rich and facinating to delve into. If you enjoy sweet, inspirational romance reads with a dollop of action, then this book is a must-read for you! I received an ARC copy of this book to read and review and have given my honest opinion.
I’ve tried to ignore but these books are so poorly written. This one was the most painful to read. A lot of things just don’t seem logical. I’m also so tired of the idea that you should never defend yourself or protect yourself. Maybe that’s really what the Amish believe but it rubs me the wrong way. You’re not allowed to have a fire extinguisher or try to put out a fire yourself? You can’t try to defend when someone hurts you? Crimes go completely unreported. I can’t wrap my mind around it. It seems like that just encourages more crime.
In life so many things can go wrong, but it's how those things are handled that makes all the difference. In this heartwarming story the bonds and blessings of a family ensure that all goes well with the twins that are born from troubling circumstances. The mother and her sister pay a high personal price for helping the twins, but in the end all is resolved and forgiven. Excellent story of God's unfailing love and grace.
I've always enjoyed reading about the Amish and this book didn't disappoint me. Charlie and Zoe find life much different from their former lifestyle before their mother died of cancer and their father being killed an traffic accident. Living with their Amish relatives means learning many new things. When Charlie is kidnapped by her former boyfriend they know God's will will be done.
This was an exciting book to read. It is set in an Amish community where the main characters soon realize they met when they were younger. This story has suspense, jealousy, vandalism, friendships, and love. I wanted to keep reading to find out who the culprit was. I recommend this book. I received this book free from the author and have chosen on my own to write an honest report.
I really enjoyed this book. Charlotte (Charlie) and her little sister (Zoe) lost both of their parents close together - their mom to cancer and their dad in a car accident. They went to live with their Amish aunt (Esther), their mom's sister. Her mom and aunt had not spoken in many years. Charlie knew her aunt had a secret concerning why they hadn't talked. When you read the book, you will be totally surprised.
I received a free ARC, and this is my honest opinion.
After her parents' deaths, Charlotte took her younger sister, Zoe, to stay with family in the Amish community. Neither girl had met their Amish relatives but hoped that hiding out there would keep them safe from Charlie's ex-fiancee. The Amish way of life was very different but welcome to both girls.
A sweet Amish story, with more than one interesting twist. Charlie and Elijah have a relationship that goes back to a childhood meeting. Present day, both are adults, and Charlie is hiding from an abusive ex. What better place to hide than with the Amish?! Jealousy, an old mystery, romance, and evil - a great mix for a wonderful story.
I enjoyed this book, I just wish someone had edited it better there were a few big mistakes, it takes away from the story. I personally have to go back and reread passages just to clear it up in my mind. But basically on the whole it’s a very good read and you will enjoy it .
This is an additional good book from Ashley Emma in which she treats different topics in a relatable way. The emotions of the characters are authentic. One hurts and enjoys with them when they overcome their difficulties and learn to forgive those whose secrets and / or lies brought the initial problems on. Thank you to the author for another great story.
Kept my interest throughout. I ignored the second story because all the facts were presented in the first book.
A bit of a different plot and nicely developed as the chapters unfolded. Good characters. Don't want to give away anything. Let's just say I recommend.
Love how the Amish are always there for each other! My great grandmother used to tell us about having a barn raising, and then they would have a barn dance to celebrate...This was a surprise- that Leah was the culprit doing the shenanigans! Glad she admitted to it and apologized....Elijah- sounds awesome!!
This was a great story. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I really enjoyed the part where charlotte realized that her heritage was what was from her mother even more than the ability to play the piano. Also I like the part where Leah confessed and apologize to her sister.
They are definitely strong people who choose a way to walk the life of being Amish, but the love and forgiveness is so much more than I can understand but family is precious.
Books and insight into the Amish way of life have always been of interesting to me. This one was so much more than I thought it would be. Thanks for writing a good book!
This book was very good to read. Sometimes secrets in families can hurt really bad and leave us bitter. Just like what happened in the story. I am so glad for the story to end as it did.
Charlie and Zoe found themselves in quite a predicament when their parents both died. Charlie decided to go to her Mom's family since most people did not know anything about them.
this is a page turning story of 2 sisters that are threatened and run to the only place that might be safe. but will they be welcomed and who is after them. if you like suspense you will want to read the book very well written.
The story was very good and well written, keeping me interested all the way. From beginning to the end and even the extra section at the end from 20 years before.
Two sisters on the run, flee o their Amish aunt. This was a suspense in which the Amish aunt had a dark secret from the past that could cause much heartache and even a shunning. The characters are well developed and three dimensional.
