The citizens of Azurvale are starting to feel the pressure. War with the Empire to the south is imminent, and there's talk of the city's adventurers being drafted into the campaign. Though this conflict seems inevitable and promises to be horrific, the common folk can do little but act like there's nothing wrong. Rather than lose sleep over something so wildly out of their control, they instead worry about tiny, personal, inconsequential issues. Things like, 'Will the butcher have fresh steak today?' and, 'Should I get those new boots now, or wait and see if they go on sale?'

However, though they try to maintain some modicum of normalcy, the people of Azurvale have yet to find out that their capital is already under threat. Not by some warmongering nation, but by a certain individual that has come to them seeking asylum, knowledge, profit, and power through any means necessary. As this newcomer burrows into the city's underbelly like a voracious tick, it cares not for the people it hurts along the way. Indeed, any soul unfortunate enough to cross paths with Boxxy T. Morningwood seems doomed to have their life ruined in one way or another. Often through no fault of their own.

Whether it's an ancient being, a skilled assassin, a godlike archer, or a fresh-faced recruit, none shall be spared from the whims of chaos.

Don't know about other people but I listen to audio books when I am doing something else.

Wandering around busy, noisy streets usually.

I do NOT need shitty sound effects to try to 'paint a picture for me'. Yes, it was 'adorable' when everyone was gathered around the radio listening to old time shows but I did NOT sign up to listen to those. There is a whole different company that does that crap. Wandering around the streets you don't want three different things (poor sound effects and traffic and the narrator) to all compete - two was enough.

I want the author's words to paint a 'picture in my mind' - not cheesy badly done sound effects.

And also, cast bloat is starting to set in.

With that being said, I do like several different things about the series (despite what one rabid fanboy ranted at me) including: world building is nice, the plot is interesting and I like Boxey as much as I could like a homicidal washing machine. (He's not but I've known some washing machines in the past).

I just took a star off because often times the sound effects did more harm than good IMO.

[If you have a different opinion, that's super. It would be a much more dull world if we were all the same.]

Magnificent as always

Neven always delivers and I am certain I am not alone in saying boxy is one of the very few true litrpg characters in existence. He sticks to her character whilst constantly pushing for growth and new skills abilities and concepts. The character development presented is as usual above expectation and somehow through it all never fails to “stick to the guns” so to speak. If you haven’t read the series your missing out. Best anti hero story of all time!

The author hits a good stride in the series. The story becomes more mainstream and less parody in this book. The lewd humor is still present, but has taken a back seat. The MC in the story has grown and continues to develop as the story continues. There are great twists and misunderstandings in store. To use the cliche term "The plot thickens" applies in this novel and I eagerly await the next instance in the series.

Very Respectfully,
Shea

The first half is slow...

... but once it ramps up, it’s awesome!

It pains me to rate a chests book below a 5, as I love this series, but holy moly. The first half of the book could have been done in 20 pages. Shopping dates and lovvy dovvy sh*t ffs? Zzzzz.

The second half is a ball tearing good time thou! Go boxy!!

These are just getting better.

This has, without a doubt, one of the best endings ever. The whole back end was marvelous. The character development never forgets the characters origins.

Again, a great premise changes into international war, friendship, deception, romance, cultural dissonance, laugh out loud moments and epic battle scenes. I like how the author has created wonderful creatures in a land that could be found in any RPG but with beautiful additions that make you think "mmmm, my players have never tried that" These 4 books (and I hope to read the rest) have been a great breather for my brain in between book clubs and 900 page epic trilogies.

About the Book: Boxxy finally figured that you can’t just kill things to level all the skills up. I mean, you definitely can, but it won’t be as effective. So here he is, infiltrating Azurvale, a city built on trees. Where, carefully navigating social webs, mimic does his best to gather the required teachers, contacts, friends, and things… People alike. Yet air thickens with war approaching. And if one played the skills just right, one could leave this place with life, skills, and even more shinies in the depths of its storage-like body. Not that it will have a choice other than to try, it seems.

My Opinion: Were it not for the explicit sexual content, these books could be both better (the bullshit in the previous book would not have happened then), and could reach a wider audience. For the plot is great, twists are great too, jokes remain on point. Characters are unique, and they show true development, not just evolvement (like pokemon evolution) that the plot implies.

Basically, these are good books, served with a spoon of tar. 4 out of 5 so far.

Yay, back to mayhem and fun, but now with dryads too!

OMFG the dryads. Dryads are my absolute favourite fantasy creature. Some girls want to be mermaids, some unicorns, others fairies but me, I want to be a dryad. So naturally I was 600% on board when dryads came in, Iliev did them in a cool way too

Boxxy's now a doppleganger no longer a mimic, which involves a whole bunch of new skills to level - and boy does he go about it in some fun ways.

More good twists, plenty of lolz, and (for those like me who stumbled hard on the rape in the previous volume) the sex is largely on the back burner and now used for lolz again.

Still very tasty and shiny

What a great read and well crafted story. The characters are great and Boxxy is its usual incorrigible self and still craving the shiny side of life. The new characters add to the story and help it along at a good pace.

Plenty of blood and guts with less of the sexy side of things which actually adds to the story rather than detracting from it.

The book definitely sets up for more volumes and I’ll be looking out for them and wishing they’d hurry up.

Nicely setup twist at the start and the detail in the characters life’s just adds to the book. My only faults are the odd word issue where one is missing or wrong word is used but it only causes a brief blimp in the reading.

Anyway get this and have a fun read 😁

The chest gets shinier and smarter

Damn I love this series, it just keeps getting better and somehow more gruesome the only way this chest can do just because it loves carnage. It focuses more on the chest's alter egos who you'll love by the end of the book or even halfway. Keep reading this if you liked previous books cause you won't be disappointed.

Book Four and still not disappointingly!

I think this is a great series, it’s different and fun and the writing is witty. I look forward to book 5, and hopefully many more.

It was okay. More of the same so pretty entertaining. The first 20% of the book is very boring and you have to put up with an LGBT sermon.

Morgana is the fourth book in a LitRPG series called Everyone Loves Large Chests that follows the homicidal exploits of a mimic called Boxy. In the very funny first book, boxy starts to gain some basic intelligence when he successfully eats a first level adventurer. He then begins to develop skills and learns to explore his dungeon home all the while getting stronger and stronger.

In this fourth book, Lliev tries to refresh an idea that has gotten very stale in the preceding two novels. War is coming to the land and Boxy sees it as an opportunity to eat tasty humans and collect more shiny things. At the end of the last book, he advanced far enough to be able to change his race from mimic to doppelganger and this sets up a wonderful surprise in the novel. The other standout aspect of this book is a major military action that dominates the last 20% of the novel. Anyone who has tried large scale (i.e. tens of thousands of soldiers) military combat in their RPGs will appreciate the serious thought that Lliev put into this battle.

Unfortunately, the negatives far outweigh the positives this time around. The book is way too long for the amount of substance it provides. Forty percent of the pages could have been hacked out and no one would have noticed because nothing happens in them. I still like the overall concept of this series, but Lliev needs to streamline the text if he wants to get his adventure rolling again.

Loved the first 3 books. They had lots of action and unexpected twists and turns and funny memorable moments as the world was turned on its head again and again.
This one just got boring from the start. It seems to focus on relationships instead and settling down or some such as I got so bored with it after a while that I couldn't carry on with it. Didn’t get much of boxxy doing his world flipping stuff just some other characters whiling their time away in a rather boring way. Maybe it got better later in the book.
These were one of my favourite books and characters. Hopefully the next one will be better.

Good read. The author is maturing in his storytelling and the story is continuing to improve. The dark and sometimes lewd humor is still present but it's not so much an in-your-face thing as a element of the tale. There are a number of great twists and surprising reveals as well as some comical misunderstandings that have serious long term consequences.
On the downside, while a bunch of stuff happens in the story and new characters and elements are added it didn't seem like any progress was made on the story threads and "quest" goals that came up in the previous couple of books.

Just gets weirder and more wonderful.

Lit RPG ranges from really really bad to pretty good. One of the signs of bad - is too much attention to all the points and levels. Unless you are a hardcore D&D player why would it be interesting. Why are the tactics that only work in a weak simulation such as “pulling” and “grinding” something worth keeping in a book.

The answer is for parody. These books are really funny and quite intriguing, if relentlessly amoral and anti-heroic. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

A new direction that works really well
Neven Iliev is shaking things up here in book 4. The series changes gear and it's never been better. This book was so much fun and the fiendishness is less (somewhat less) upsetting and more humorous (like back in book 1).
Mr. Iliev has stepped up his writing game. More characters, more points of view, a more developed plot, more nuance, and he's blended it all seamlessly with everything that has come before. Wile it still contains Profanity, gore, violence, and explicit adult content there is an extra helping of fun and the humor has less cruelty in it.
My favorite book since Morningwood.

Picked this one up as an audiobook, really didn't know what to expect but the title made me laugh and it was kinda D&D styled so I figured I'd give it a go.

It's based on Monsters perspective which is different and there is plenty of adult humour in the story, as it progresses the characters all grow and all actions have consequences which make for some very interesting discovery along the way...
Now listen to 4 books, looking forward to picking up book 5.

If you have made it this far into the series you will really love this book. You get all the humor from the previous books, character growth, unexpected twists, a new demon for Boxy to play with and less lewd jokes. Except for the first book which introduced us to Boxy T Morning Wood this is my favorite book of the series.

Another fun romp. Boxy is back and finally outside of the human empire and in the elven republic. Following Boxy's last rank up, Boxy is now a doppelganger with all new skills, but the same motivations. The main story was fun and entertaining, but the best part had to be the epilogue. Twinkle Twinkle Shiny Star will now be first in my mind anytime I hear our version of that song.

Enthralling, but...

It is apparent that this is a very good author. However the quality of editing dropped in this volume. Incorrect and missing words encountered 4 or 5 times. No bueno. That interrupts the flow of the story, and that's why I gave it only 4 stars. Still, a very enjoyable story.

I thought this was the best of the series so far. With Boxy's new job comes a greater sense of immersion and pontification on the functioning and mechanics of the continent. The demons are toned way down in this one, too (although, they ARE still the demons). I did not expect how bittersweet the ending with the Driads would be, but if nothing else it was sweet and funny.

Quite possibly the funniest book I've ever read. Boxy is so much fun in this one. The audiobook is simply perfect, the new characters are very interesting and the song at the end was a delight. Just listen to it.

This seems more like the second book. It's fine. I don't know what to say at this point that hasn't already been said about this series. There is little character growth at all, which starts to stand out more.

Good entertaining read but -1 for the cringy smut

I love the world building, the very entertaining protagonist and the storyline. But seriously the sex is written like bad fanfic to the point that it feels like bad weeb hentai only in writing.

Large chests are best

I especially liked the development of reasoning out it's next move. Stories based on instinctual reaction are great but this character is evolving like a teenager and having to risk it all to learn.

Good but not as fun as the first three

I enjoyed this book but not as much as the first three. The focus is less on the traditional Boxxi and more on what's going on around him. A good story but not as fun as the first three.
