DARK PROPHECY

Two centuries after Armageddon, the eternal battle between order and chaos continues. Pockets of fortified city states are ruled by powerful barons, plenipotentiaries of humanity's secret enslavers. Half-human hybrids, these inheritors carry out an ages-old conspiracy of mankind's domination. But there are those who fight this insidious horror.

VIRULENCE UNFURLED

A renegade enforcer of the new order, Kane is now a freedom fighter dedicated with fellow insurrectionists to free the future from the yoke of Archon power. The bayous of Louisiana, steeped in magic and voodoo, are a new epicenter of a dark, ancient evil. Here, the primordial horrors of a lost world are being resurrected into a living nightmare, unleashing a pestilence that may destroy hybrid and human alike.

In the Outlands, the will to fight endures...

The first of the Old Ones have arisen, and what better place to start a mad evil new kingdom then the war scorched world once known as the Deathlands, now the Outlands?

Blending equal parts horror, science fiction and balls out action, this relentlessly paced Outlanders introduces us to the concept of the Old Ones, an ancient race of beings, immortal and twisted, that once ruled the earth but have been pushed back by man…until now.

It’s got shades of Lovecraft, a dab of Howard and a generous helping of Ellis awesomeness as the action moves from the early days of skydark (cyborg police teaming up with voodoo warriors to battle the Old One), to South America (Kane, Grant & Domi taking on a serpent cult) to the teeming swamps of Louisiana, where Ocajink, the vampire demon has risen again to lead his army of rats and swampies.

The horror factor is cranked to 11 in this one, with some fantastic sequences featuring hordes of said rats and swampies (zombies anyone?) as the Cerberus team realizes an ancient evil has arisen. And worse than that, the pre-dark scientists knew about him as well and spliced his DNA into other humans to try to create supersoldiers - result: SWAMPIES!

This one has become my new favourite Outlanders, though that seems to happen with each new read, I enjoyed the hell out of this book, and can’t wait to see what new Old Ones will arise next!

Probably the least interesting of the outlanders books thus far, which doesn't bode well for a series with so many volumes.

Set in the same world as the Deathlands series. These books follow another set of adventures in the post holocaust world. Good men's adventures series. Recommended
