Being fanatical about this case, I’m glad I read this book. It’s fascinating to see Chris’s own words as to why he slaughtered his own family. That said, there are some major issues here—

The author can’t write for shit.

There was apparently no editor. Cervi 319 was frequently referenced as Cervi 219, Niko was just as consistently spelled Nico, and the Rzucek’s last name was misspelled EVERY time.

There’s really nothing new.

If, like me, you’ve read all the discovery in the case, there’s nothing new here except Chris’s own words. Yes, he does offer a new confession, however it doesn’t vary too greatly from what he told FBI agents in February 2019. The author often times just slid huge chunks of discovery into the book, including texts between Shanann and friends, as well as an entire verbatim interview with Chris.

Lastly, there are huge chunks of vital information from discovery that the author chose not to include. I have no idea what the rhyme or reason was behind what she chose to incorporate into the book and what she left out. She mentions the 2/2019 FBI interview multiple times as far as Chris saying how mad he was that agents showed up without giving him any warning, but that’s the extent of it. She doesn’t include what he actually said.

This is basically everything we already know. No new info at all, because the author decided to sell the one letter he wrote which had a few new details to the Daily Mail, before the book was released so it pretty much spoiled it.

Anyone not familiar with this case will be totally lost with this book, she jumps all over the place from subject to subject. It's hard to decipher her opinion from what Chris actually said to her. The grammatical and spelling errors are atrocious. One of the victims ages is wrong, and names are misspelled. It's just bad.

Do NOT buy this book it was Plagiarized!! After I first read the book I rated it a 3/5. Within 2 weeks there were a lot of online rumors about the author Cheryln Cadle and her interactions with Chris Watt's family, especially his sister. His sister publically released screenshots of text message conversations. Mrs. Cadle behavior is very troubling for a woman that claims be a Christian and had the best of intention. I think she presented herself in an untruthful manner with his family. And wasn't forthright on the content or goal of the book. Its obvious her intention was to further divide the families and that isn't right or healthy for anyone. I then dropped my reading to a 1/5 and I trashed my copy of the book.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5aH4H...

Now on 12/19/2019 its come out that Mrs Cadle plagiarized her book from another "His Garden: Conversations With A Serial Killer" by Anne K. Howard. I'll link a video by lawyer Scott Reisch video that explains the entire situation. Personally I think this book should be pulled from Goodreads.com.

I hate that I spent $25 to support this Author, but Ill using my Kindle Unlimited and read Author Anne K. Howards books instead. Which by the looks of it are all highly rated.

PLAGIRISM!!! I hate myself for buying this book - however, I did get caught up in the pre-release sensationalism! Credit to "Kimberley" on You Tube for exposing Cadle's plagiarism of Anne K. Howard's Book "His Garden - Conversations With a Serial Killer". I am appalled that this "writer" believed that she was smarter than her audience in presuming that her plagiarism would not be discovered. Truly outrageous. A poorly "written" cut & paste, plagiarized piece of work ! Shame on you, you self-proclaimed Christian!

I have a keen interest in True Crime, and as such when I discovered the existence of this book while browsing the Amazon website, I decided to give LETTERS FROM CHRISTOPHER a chance.

The way the book is described, readers will be deceived into thinking that the author has a long-standing and prolific letter-writing relationship with Chris Watts. THIS IS NOT THE CASE.

I expected that the book would contain the actual letters written both to and from the author. In other words, I expected to be privy to the actual letters. AGAIN, THIS IS NOT THE CASE. (There are a few letters at the end of the book, but not many.)

It only took a few pages before I realized this book was written by an amateur author. Anyone who has followed my Book Review Blog will know that I am an avid supporter of new authors. However, being written by a first-time author does not guarantee I will give the book a high rating. What it does mean, is that I am a bit more willing to overlook SMALL editing and/or proofreading errors.

I am 100% honest when I write my reviews. This is what I believe people want when they read book reviews. No one wants to spend their hard earned money on a disappointing read. There are so many fabulous books on the market today and it would be a shame to miss out on one of them because you wasted your money buying a book that did not live up to your expectations.

So, why am I disappointed in this book? Well, besides being full of typos and terrible grammar, it does NOT offer much in the way of new information. Basically, the author just took the information that has previously been reported and wrote it out in her own words. Words that are written with more grammatical errors than a grade one book report.

In addition to that, the author seems to be incredibly naive. I believe she has lost touch with reality when it comes to the topic of Chris Watts and the beautiful family he slaughtered in cold blood. Cheryln is a religious person. I am not sure what brand of Christianity she subscribes to, but it involves the belief that Chris Watts only murdered his family because of a demon.

It never ceases to amaze me just how fast criminals, and murderers in particular, once caught, profess that they have found God and that God has forgiven them. What a crock of crap!!! This is just one more manipulative ploy by a psychopath who feels nothing and who knows exactly what buttons to push to obtain sympathy from women.

Even if I believed the crap that Chris has clearly manipulated Cheryln Candle into believing, I cannot give this book a rating higher than 2 OUT OF 5 STARS ⭐⭐ This is for the reasons listed above as well as the fact that there are very few actual letters included in the book. This is supposed to be a book called LETTERS FROM CHRISTOPHER, but where are the letters.

Please do not waste your money on this book. There are other books about the Watts family murders that are more worthy of your time and your hard earned money.

While it’s interesting to hear from Chris Watts own words (and let’s face it his words don’t amount to much with all his contradictions, god drivel and continuing to put up the pretence of accepting blame while simultaneously blaming his victims) this book was hard to read. The kindle formatting, the spelling errors, the constant claims the author makes that she doesn’t blame Shanann while focusing on said murdered woman’s supposedly controlling behaviour. Oh and of course no book written by a religious person can go without having some element of a possession story inside it? Literally a POSSESSION? If not I suppose we could clear up the whole mystery by placing Chris Watts on the spectrum. He’s obviously a family annihilator because he’s a possessed man on the spectrum.

Do yourself a favour and read “My daddy is a hero” by Lena Derhally if the case interests you and you’d like some logically sound exploration of it. Also it’s clearly better edited, so there’s that.

I felt as if I had to read this book. As with so many other people, I found myself fascinated with this case. The book was poorly written and even more so poorly edited. Almost every page had some kind of typo, wrong name or date, or misspelled word. It became annoyingly distracting. I'd give it a 3 out of 10 and that's being generous.

After much fanfare discussion on the true-crime "vlogger" front, I waited to purchase this book 1.) to allow the backlog/shipping nightmares I had heard of settle down, and 2.) to get a "taste" of the book by discussion before I decided to drop money on a book that covers a case I already know too much about.

WHAT AN ABOMINATION IT IS...you can tell she is a self-taught author (if you want to call her that, at all.)

The entire value of this book has been built on the premise of the relationship she fostered with C. Watts, and basically can be found in ONE chapter - and that is the only chapter that contains any "new" information (by the time I read it.) Beyond that, it is a LAZY, poorly-written, copy-and-paste version of the discovery documents. The typos are egregious and overall lack of effort placed to provide the reader with her personal experience/storytelling makes for a painful read. I really wish she would have taken more time to assemble her thoughts through the lens of the relationship she built with Christopher to provide a fresh-take on this horrific crime.

DON'T BOTHER WASTING YOUR MONEY.

The writer of this book did a terrible job. It's all over the place and sounds more like a journal of her ideas mixed with stuff he told her. I've read alot of true crime from professional writers. This is nothing at all like those. Thumbs down.

As someone who has followed this case since day 1, I had to read this. HOWEVER. This book was poorly written and edited. Major typos and spelling errors, including the spelling of victims’ names. And I’m not even talking about his letters, I’m referring to the author’s writing.

The book was fascinating because I’ve been so obsessed with this case. The editing, or lack there of, is what made the book hard to read.

If I could give this book zero stars I would do.

First of all the author clearly threw this book together within a few weeks l, I’m assuming without checking for inconsistencies, any grammatical errors and checking the layout (time lines of text messages discussed in the book). I looked forward to reading this book, however, I struggled to read all of it due to how poor the writing quality was.

The book didn’t flow - sentences that made no sense at all and repeated themselves (just written slightly different), even the spelling of ‘Nico’ throughout the book changed.

It’s such a shame as this could of been an extremely good read had more time and thought been put into it.

There are no big ‘oh my god’ moments, no new information that isn’t already out there and unfortunately, is clearly a way for the author to make money from a person who killed his wife and children. A more seasoned author may of done a much better job with this.

I mean after following the case I wanted to read the book. Do I regret paying for it though? Yes. I honestly think I could have done a better job of writing if she would have sent me the information, and I don’t know the first thing about writing a book. It’s very scatter brained.. you have to have a lot of patience to read it. Almost like reading your child’s middle school essay.

I am going to be upfront; I did not enjoy this book. I was not too fond of the writing style, and I was disappointed in the lack of letters between Cheryln Cadle and Chris Watts. I thought this would be more letters between the two, with the occasional blurb of context from Cadle, and it was not that. The dialogue was more one-sided, which left a lot of open-ended questions unanswered.

I very quickly noticed that several passages seem to be copied from another book. Anne K. Howard wrote a book called Conversations with a Serial Killer, and it is excellent. Howard reached out to serial killer William Devin Howell, and together they formed a strange friendship, in which he confesses everything to her, knowing she is writing a book. It is so well done, so well written, and I highly recommend it if you haven't read it. For more details about the alleged plagiarism, checkout Kimberley on YouTube. She goes into detail, citing specific passages alleged stolen and provided a side-by-side comparison. She is also funny.

Throughout this book, Cadle claims "research shows" or "research says," but she cites no research. She did not interview a psychologist or any such professional in her "research" of this book. For example: "On Saturday night, August 11, Shanann had less than 36 hours to live. Did she start to feel her life was almost over?

Research has shown people do not have a clue." (Chapter 10, pg. 55, first paragraph, lines 1-3)

What research? Who made this claim? What qualified human stated that people do not have a clue? This is an opinion.

On page 57, Cadle states, "Christopher has an IQ of 140. The Binet-Simon Scale of Intelligence says a genius or almost a genius is 140 or over. Possibly his genius brain did not afford him common sense." Yet she offers absolutely nothing to explain just how she knows his IQ. Did he tell her? Did his mom tell her? His sister? Did she guess? How does she know that Chris Watts has an IQ of 140? On page 109, Cadle makes the statement, "Christopher shows signs of alexithymia, the inability to express emotions or to understand other's emotions." Yet nothing scientific to support that claim. No doctor to agree or disagree, or clarify or further explain. Yet, on the Dr. Oz Show (again, clips can be found on YouTube; part 4 is what I am referencing here, Cadle made it very clear she is not a doctor. So she should not be making such bold claims without a single iota of fact behind them. Chris Watts also says IN HIS OWN WORDS that he has never had a psychological exam. AND I QUOTE: "In answer to your questions, no, I've never had a psychological exam. If I were to have seen a doctor during my case, then anything I said could've been subpoena by DA's court. And the Asperger's symptoms do make a lot of sense, and I can match up a bunch of instances in my life that correspond with it too." Page 218. It would seem Cadle has obviously written something inquiring if Chris has Asperger's. Having both the letter was written TO Watts, and his response would have been really beneficial and appreciated.

There were several continuity errors, things were repeated, and Cadle seemed to bounce back-and-forth between Cervi-319 and Cervi-219. On page 173, Cadle offered three definitions (sane, insane, and possesses), yet offers zero sources to where she found her definitions, and she asks the question "Is Christopher insane?", which again, I have to state that Cadle is not a doctor of any kind... and therefore unqualified to assert such assumptions.

On page 204, Cadle bounces back-and-forth between Bella and Belle. This is extremely disrespectful to the victim and her family. This is something that should have been caught and corrected in editing.

On page 205, Cadle says, "These grandparents have suffered so much. The pain they have faced is indescribable and a pain that even time cannot dull. Perhaps soon, the media will leave them all alone and allow them to grieve privately. People do not understand how cruel it is. They have not only had to endure their pain from their loss, but the pain the media and people who had some cruel agenda have made things even more difficult." What does she think this book is doing to these families? While on The Dr. Oz show, Cadle said the reason she did this (write the book) is that the family deserves closure, and she wanted to give that to them. Cadle misspells Rzucek throughout her book, which should have been caught and corrected in editing. She spells it, "Rzueck."

A lot of this book focuses on the "dark spirit" that had a hold over Chris Watts... and personally, I think that is just a BS way of skirting full responsibility. He chose to murder his family. He chose to dispose of their bodies cruelly. He chose to lie about their whereabouts at first. He chose. He, Christopher Lee Watts, chose to murder his pregnant wife and two daughters. And the responsibility for those crimes lies solely on his shoulders. Just because he has found God, and asked for forgiveness, doesn't mean all culpability is relieved from his shoulders.

I also have a mine and mine alone, that Nikki (the mistress) was more involved than Chris is willing to admit. In this book, we get it confirmed that Chris gave Shanann oxy in the hope of causing her to miscarry their son. When asked where he (Chris) got the oxy, he says that he will take to his grave. It just seems kind of fishy to me. This mistress obviously wanted to be upgraded from side piece to wife. So why wouldn't she help make that possible? Admittedly, I have not gone down the rabbit hole involving my speculation, so maybe that was ruled out. I honestly don't know. But I definitely think Nikki was more involved that Chris wants us to believe.

I’ve watched this documentary and followed the case since it happened. As a Christian, I think it can be hard to understand how a sin this heinous & horrible could be forgiven. This book tells the true story of the crime and Chris’s testimony of how he came to be a follower of Christ after the murders. A reminder that the blood of Jesus covers every sin. Pretty interesting.

Poorly written, full of grammatical errors and typos. Full paragraphs that repeat what was said 2 paragraphs ago.

Too religiously driven, and no actual new information.

All for amateur authors, but the quality of the story and writing just fell short.

All of the quotes have beginning quotation marks, but no closure quotation marks. She also spelled Bella and Nico’s names wrong multiple times (Belle & Niko).

Such a badly written novel, don’t know how it got published in the first place.

SAVE your time and SAVE your money. DO NOT BUY this HORRIBLE BOOK!
NOT a book with truth! Just more of this monsters lies, untruths and his ever-changing and very sickening stories. THIS author did a HORRIBLE JOB at every level!
first of all, she did NOT include a photocopy of CW letters. She simply rewrote them so HOW can we believe she got any of them correct when so many mistakes made. such as misspelling victim, 4 yr old girl, Bella, she called Belle. and Dog Dieter, she misspelled Deeter, AND also got the place the bodies were placed WRONG. is CERVI 319 and NOT 219.
There is NO bombshell shocking revelation AND her saying "YOU DECIDE" is her out for not producing as promised. I am going to be demanding a refund as it is the WORST book ever AND poorly written, spelling, grammar errors and tons of pages copied directly from the Discovery to which she did NOT give proper notation and credit. I do believe THAT is a big no-no, is called PLAGIARISM.
I hope an experienced author or even a new one, but will take the time to research the facts, then don't allow the murderer to control and bamboozle you with his BULL-SHIP!
Cherylyn Cadle is a FOOL. Good luck on your next book, sex, romance and lies. SO CHRISTIAN of you ms Cadle=NOT!
Glad I got this from Wal-mart,didn't pay the S&H, would have made it $27.
At just under $18 from Wal-mart, it is still OVERPRICED to say the least! 3/4 of it was copied from the Discovery one can get from Weild County PD. IT has the best information!

Even though I knew this book would not bring any new facts I still bought it because this case has intrigued me from day one and my curiosity got the better of me. Well, as the saying goes “curiosity killed the cat”. This book is terribly written, to the point that it was hard to get through some chapters because of the basic grammatical errors and horribly constructed sentences. I had to basically reconstruct sentences in my head while reading to be able to understand what the “author” was trying to say. The “author” obviously wanted to make money and profit off of this crime that she did not take the time to proofread her work because she wanted to be as fast as possible to write and publish this garbage. She should stay away from writing anything in the future but if she still decides to write something she most definitely should consider taking some English composition courses or hire someone more experienced to write it for her. I'm truly embarrassed for her and angry with myself for being an idiot who contributed to her financial gain over this tragedy. If you really want to read it, please, buy it used or you can have mine for free!

What can I say about this book! 🤔

I have followed this case from the first time I seen it break on Facebook

I hoped by reading this book I could get to read his letters and see if he felt bad for hurting his beautiful daughters and wife

This book annoyed me when he wrote letters to shanann, Bella, cece and nico asking for them to forgive him for killing them! Why would they forgive him? He took their lives and saying how much he loved them! What a joke

I hated the part he said they would all be together one day in heaven! Just because he found god doesn’t mean shanann and the kids would want to be with him even in heaven

I felt that he blamed the “evil” he felt, or “Nikki” and of course shanann even though he tried to say he didn’t blame Nikki or shanann for what he did

Sorry if this offends anyone or even the author but this is my honest opinion and this case has made me feel sick for his family and shananns family for what they went through at the hands of this Monster

Holy crap, I actually finished a book! My reading slump is over. I'm gonna skip all the dissing the author for typos and stuff, because it's been done to death, but I found this book totally captivating. Cadle's descriptions of her visit with Watts, who we still cannot fathom how he did something so horrific as the killings he did in 2018 were captivating. The new info that he's shed on the case was very difficult to read, yet similar to a car wreck you can't help but look at when you drive by it. Is this new confession the real, true one? Or more BS? Or a mix? We will never really know, but I was hooked while reading this book. I’ll go somewhere between 3.5 and 4 stars.

I’ve been following the Watts case from day 1. I was excited to read some of these “letters” from Chris. But it really isn’t that. There was very little that was new information. Pretty much everything said was opinions the author had, notes from the discovery or interviews, and info from the final FBI interview. If you are up to date on of that you will gain little from reading this book. You can tell she rushed the hell out of this book. The editing was terrible! Maybe she was in a hurry because she was afraid someone would beat her to the punch I don’t know. But I wouldn’t waste my time on it. You can get everything you want to know from the discovery, Reddit, or even Facebook groups.
