So, I'm reviewing this book on two levels. I don't expect this to be an educational book about BDSM, any more than I expect a mystery to teach me how to solve crime. But suffice it to say, in regards to several aspects of BDSM, this book is seriously off, and I can tell, even with my limited knowledge of the Lifestyle (ie, I've read about it, and that's it).
At the same time, the book is very well-written from a grammar and syntax perspective, with interesting characters and a potentially intriguing plot. I believe that this series is the author's first foray into BDSM romance, and it shows. I wish Summers had done more research, but if you don't care about realism in your romance, it's not a bad book.
The heroine in this story has some guilt and shame from the past that has caused her to shut down her emotions, almost becoming cold, while pushing people out of her life. Being his submissive allows her to feel those emotions and brought her back to life. He has PTSD and demons that haunt his dreams. She silences those demons. There were many times while reading this story that I wanted to strangle the heroine because of the things she said or did. Eventually, she hears some truths she did not know and that helps her fight her own demons, which allows her to have what she wants and get her happy ending. I found issue with the hero disciplining the heroine for things that she doesn't know or understand about. I felt there should have been a warning about it and some explanation. I really didn't care for him during these moments treating her like a child. I also found issue with the sister. The things she said and did were nasty. Talking and giving some explanation would have helped, but that didn't happen and instead there were more consequences when there didn't have to be. Her acting like the only victim when she had a hand in it, and caused pain herself, didn't really suit her or make me feel for her. I can understand where they were both coming from, but I still did not like the sister. There were some steam scenes in this book, but painful scenes as well. Even though this story kept my interest, I found it to be just an okay read. ARC received from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
To Master and Defend is a short novella continuing on with the series but with a new couple, Ophelia and Tobias. This is the first book I have read in the series. I enjoyed the story. I was maturely written and I think I would like to read more from this author but this particular story had a few things in it that I didn't particular care for.
What I did like was the main characters and how they met. I loved that Tobias saved her from being assaulted in his club and the they had such an intense connection that they couldn’t keep their hands off of each other as he consoles her from the attempted rape. I loved everything about their relationship except for how she gets introduced to BDSM not only by him but her sister and her sisters fiance as well.
It's hard to describe what my issue is without spoiling the story so I'll just say that for someone not in the BDSM lifestyle, she should have been informed of what that lifestyle is like and how she should react or behave before thrusting her into it. Granted, she isn't forced into it full throttle and she does react positively in most situations but there were a few scenes in the beginning that she reacted naturally for someone who has no knowledge of BDSM and was treated like someone who would know the consequences. It bothered me enough that it took some of the enjoyment of the story away from me. Despite that, I will definitely try more from this author

To Master and Defend (The Dungeon Fantasy Club #2) is a sensual, angst ridden delight! Meet Ophelia "Lia" Mills and Tobias Ford. Ophelia is the younger sister of Zoey who is off getting engaged to Declan McDougal, owner of Mullardoch Manor and the Dungeon Fantasy Club in Inverness, Scotland.
Lia goes on a girl's night out to a new BDSM club, Dungeon Pleasures, in Pasadena were she is promptly abandoned by her bestie's. While doing some people watching she decides the rowdy club isn't what she digs. She loves her books and a quiet evening in, enjoying her own company. As she moves to the door, she is accosted by a man who gropes and offers her to taste the delights of a hook up with him. When she declines and demands he unhand her, he tries to force her to a secluded area. Tobias, steps in and saves her from any more manhandling. The offender is processed, and banned from the club. Lia, dizzy from the altercation is ushered to an upstairs loft in the arms of a strong, gentle man who shares her care and diligent support after all she'd been through. Lia can't help but trust him, his concern for her shines through his every action and she feels she can unwind. How is it she can trust this stranger, want this man, with every fiber of her being? It's absurd to feel such a connection with an unnamed man, but she does. His scent, his gentle caress, his compassion and confidence reach within to connect their souls as one. I loved the sizzle in this story, and I loved all the little rabbit trails that end up tying together one hell of a surrender!! I highly recommend Lia and Tobias' story, it will singe your fingertips as you swipe those pages to get to the end!!

Ophelia is at Dungeon Pleasures which was one of the premier BDSM clubs in LA. Sex had been okay but she was looking for a man who would give her what she needed. Ophelia decided she was going to leave when a guy grabbed her and covered her mouth. Ophelia bit the guy then he punched her all of a sudden there was another guy grabbing him away. She spends the night with her savior. When Ophelia woke up she wanted to get out of his apartment before he woke up. Tobias wanted to find his little bird she had soothed the night that his PTSD did not wake him. Months down the road Ophelia finds out she pregnant with his child. She goes to Scotland to get her sister to come home. Tobias is going into his friend Declan and his fiancé Zoey house he walks in and there was his little bird at which point she faints. Tobias sneaks into Ophelia's room at first she was angry but then she couldn't help herself. Tobias gave her the taste of his dominance and it made her feel warm. Zoey and Ophelia had a huge fight and Zoey basically told her to mind her own business. Ophelia couldn't believe her sisters life with Declan and left the manor. Tobias goes to Ophelia's house she lets him in when a discussion ensues about her pregnancy. Ophelia goes to meet Tobias at the club and was accosted by three men who dragged her into the alley. Will Tobias be able to stop the men from hurting Ophelia?
It takes a lot to make me actually hate a book, but this one comes close to doing it. I’m so mad at this story I’m shaking. This book badly needed another round of edits and some beta readers that understand the Lifestyle. Where the first book bordered on rape-y, this one teetered over into abuse. The presence of the phrase “don’t make me do that again” in reference to a punishment the main character had no prior knowledge to expect or anticipate, lights an anger in me the Incredible Hulk would fear. There are so many unforgivable sins in the plot, I don’t know where to start. The opening "encounter" between the romantic leads shows a trained military man, who’s an experienced dominant, in charge of a BDSM club, falling asleep immediately after orgasm - while the club is open and operating. To my mind, 3 of those things cancel out the 4th. I didn’t like Ophelia. Her eleventh hour change of heart irritated me. In fact, all of her sudden changes of heart bothered me because they indicated a need for a trained mental health professional not a Master. There were moments where I almost could have liked Tobias but then he’d behave like a jerk again and there went that idea. My fingers are crossed that the rumor I’ve heart is true, and things get better after this. I received a complimentary copy of this book.
Ophelia has always hidden her heart, starting from her parents death which she tells herself is her fault, so come to relationships, she does not get too deep or give herself up to love. So the night she goes out with friends who then desert her at a bar in a BDSM club, the aftermath and her passionate night with Tobias are unlike her.
Of course, when that night results in unexpected occurrences, she runs to Scotland to see her sister ( another story) but things get sticky when her sister says she is staying. The unexpected appearance of Tobias also throws her for a loop. Will she continue to run or will she give Tobias a chance and see if he is the one for her heart.
The story was good, but the reactions of everyone to her accidental walking into the basement was a little over the top, and one i think should have been treated differently. One would expect the owner to ave better security measures in place or ensure anyone could not just walk into that area even by accident. That scene and the follow up for me dropped a star for this story.

What are the odds of a second chance one nighter!? I fell in love with Ophelia who goes out with her girlfriends for a night out and toys with the idea of an escapade, until all she wants is her peaceful home away from all the noise. When her exit is stopped by a borish man, it gets quickly out of control until Tobias steps in to ensure Ophelia is safe. Tobias takes Ophelia to his office where the simmering heat between the two combusts at Ophelia prompting for one exquisite one nighter. Ophelia escapes the club which was “one of the best nights of her life. She just hadn't expected the free gift with purchase growing in her uterus.” When her sister, Kara decides to stay in Scotland and won’t answer her cell, Ophelia heads to Scotland to find out why. What she doesn’t expect is to run in to her unnamed one nighter, Tobias who had been looking for Ophelia without success. What follows is some heated and steamy exchanges between the two until Ophelia walks in on her sister’s scene which goes all kinds of way wrong. When Tobias discovers her secret, there is no stopping him from winning Ophelia’s heart which has been closed off since her parents’ death!
Zooey's little sister Ophelia would rather stay home with Mr. Darcey and a pot of tea than go out on the town. When her friends convince her to go with them to a local club, she finally agrees. Little did she know what kind of club she was headed to. When she gets up to leave, an unknown man tried to drag her to one of the protected areas where god only knows what happens. Lucky for Ophelia, someone who works there caught up to them in time to stop something awful from happening. Will one night in a club change her life forever or will she go back to being her studious self?
Tobias had been keeping an eye on the scared creature since she walked in and just happened to be following her when she was grabbed and almost forced into the dungeon areas by another club goer. He and his bouncer's took care of the man and her. He picked her up and brought her to a safe place to make sure she would be all right. If she only knew what he really would like to do.

An amazingly well written story with a bit extra kink. I like the hint of darkness in the steamy scenes. Great plot and storyline. Well described characters and they develop well. I like the depth in the story but I recommend you read the previous one to get the whole picture and understand everything. Ophelia is a woman that misses something in her love life. She has a night out with girlfriends. They visit a BDSM club and here she is attracted by a patron but Tobias saves her and they have an amazing night. She leaves without telling him and without giving him her informations or getting his. Ophelias sister Zoey (from the previous book) is moving to Scotland and Ophelia is so selfish that she wants her to stay in USA with her. She travels to Scotland. Here she sees that Zoey is in love but that is not enough for her. She still is very selfish and wants her to go back with her. She meets Tobias again. No spoilers so you have to read this short story to fill in the blanks.
I really loved this book! Lia is at a party that her friends convinced her to go to. She'd rather be a home with her books, but sometimes a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do in order to meet some pretty basic sexual needs. She's looking for a quick one night stand. She doesn't want to be disappointed again men failing to live up to her expectations. She needs a hero from her books to step off the pages. Little does she know that sometimes you don't get what you want, but what you need. One issue I did have with the book was the fact that she was assaulted not once, but twice at a bdsm club. It seemed to take forever to get her rescued, and this is a place that Tobias owns. He's also a security expert. Plus I think that she'd have a lot more issues of ptsd. Other than that, I loved this quick, short read. Ms. Summers has a way of weaving a story that you can relate to.
Ophelia and Tobias meet at Dungeon Pleasures in Pasadena. He saves her when she is assaulted, they have a night together before she runs away. He tries to find her. Ophelia finds out she's pregnant and her sister is not coming home so she runs to Scotland to convince Zoey (Highland Master) to come home. Tobias is there to help Declan and finds his girl. Ophelia walks in on a scene in the dungeon and funs again after arguing with Zoey. Tobias comes back to Pasadena determined to build a relationship with Ophelia. Ophelia is attack outside the club and decides to end things with Tobias. He gives up until Ophelia learns the truth of her parents death and decides to open up and live life. She finally stops running. I just love the way Anya Summers presents a story.

In the second volume of the Dungeon Fantasy Club series, we meet Ophelia, also called Lia, sister of Zoey from Volume 1 of the series. Although this book stands fairly well on its own, reading them in order helps with keeping all the secondary characters straight. Ophelia goes to a club with friends, only to discover that it's a BDSM club. Her friends abandon her, she is manhandled by someone and rescued by Tobias. They have a one night stand and then meet again in Scotland for Zoey's wedding. I like the characters, but the coincidence in meeting again is a bit of a stretch and other plot developments (don't want to spoil things) go even farther. It was a pleasant passing of an evening though.

This book leaves you with that warm, ooey gooey feeling and yet has all the steamy, sexy scenes you could wish for. It has the perfect balance between the steamy stuff and the story line advancement, at least for me. Tobias and Lia are a good balance for each other and I loved reading about their relationship and how they interacted with each other. This is the second book of this series, but is easily read on its own. Because it does reference the previous book and its character, however, it is enjoyable to have read it because it adds to the story line. Either way, this was a thoroughly enjoyable read.

.0 out of 5 starsErotic Reading! By sewsummore on 13 April 2018 Format: Kindle Edition Ophelia has lived with the knowledge that she was responsible for her parent's death, as a result she has shut herself off from her emotions. Tobias is a strong dominant who lives with PTSD caused by his time in the military. When he comes to her aide after she assaulted, she responds to his strength and magnetism and seven weeks later she find herself pregnant without even knowing his name. This was a book full of erotic desire and repressed emotions as the two lovers begin to build a life together. I loved it all!

I really enjoyed this story. Tobias is a strong alpha male that owns a BDSM club. He is struggling to deal with PTSD from his service for our country. Ophelia gets talked into attending an event at his club. He saves her from an overzealous party goer that tried to force her to play with him. They end up having a passionate evening but she leaves and they have not shared names. The journey they take is really focused on Lia fighting her demons and fears. I enjoyed this story and the way it was written so much that I purchased book one of this series and plan to purchase and read the others. If you enjoy mild BDSM than you will also enjoy this book.

Anya Summers always writes and entertaining story, and this one is no different. I liked watching Ophelia grow emotionally and overcome some traumas from her past. I know I this is a book and I often need to suspend belief, but there were a few things about this book that bothered me and took away from the story. Ophelia is not given the rules of a BDSM club yet is punished as if she knew them. She is very upset that she is treated like a child and not an adult, yet they never talk about this, she is punished again and they move on. Those were two flaws that I had a hard time getting over. Otherwise, I really enjoyed the book.

This is one steamy romance!💓🔥💦
Ophelia, or Lia, is so focused on getting where she wants to be career-wise that she's letting life zoom past her at light speed. That is until Tobias saves her from one of the clients at his Dungeon... Dungeon Pleasures. Lia just wanted to find someone to "satisfy her itch" and things went from there.
This book is well-written and easy to follow. It will also heat up, not only your Kindle but you too. It's a romance with some life lessons in it and some pretty blazing heat. I absolutely loved it!💗💞😍
I’m so loving this series! And definitely love Tobias and Ophelia! These two meet unexpectedly and sparks fly all around them. But to Ophelia, it was only for one night, until something happened to change all that. Tobias manages a BDSM club and when he sees Ophelia, all bets are off. He wants her in his life and will do whatever it takes to make her his. But Ophelia has other plans that don’t necessarily include him, she is afraid of love and won’t let her heart dictate her feelings. Tobias can be very convincing though! I loved the interactions between these two and how Tobias slowly broke down her barriers. A definite must read!
Lia is just about to leave the new hot club her friends abandoned her in, when she is saved from a grabby male by Tobias. This begins a passionate hot night which Lia sneaks away from early the next morning. She was trying to stave off the hurt when, as she expected, he would not want to see more of her. Her life goes from bad to worse and then she sees him again in the most unexpected place. Her life gets more passionate and daring from there. Enjoy.

I read and reviewed book 1 of this series and loved it. The following review holds for this book as well and I can't wait to read the next one!
This book is incredibly hot. The attraction between these characters is crazy and you can feel the desire they have for each other. They are both scarred in some manner so not only are they looking for someone to fill the longing inside but they are searching for a way to erase their past mistakes. I like to think they both have room to grow and learn from each other.

An awesome book always had my attention from start to finish, I just love this authors books she really has a way of drawing people into her world. Ophellia Mills has gone out with friends for a night out in the town, so to speak, they end up at a BDSM club named Dungeon Pleasures. There she meet Tobias Ford who rescues her from a gropping man. Ophellia has always had a interest in BDSM and consensus to a night with Tobias. They both start falling for each other and soon Ophellia must decide weather she can trust Tobias further into her life.
Hot Dom! Tobias knows just what Lia needs, even if she doesn't. Even if she's sure it's not what he's offering. Lia has hidden her emotions away after the death of her parents, resulting in a wall between her and all of her relationships, even with her sister, Zoey.
This is a wonderfully sensual yet naughty romance, but it's also a story of Lia's awakening - to the truth of her parents' death, to her hidden desires, to the destiny she faces as she lets Tobias into her heart. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Ophelia has all her life planned but after a one hot night, everything changes. Tobias never thought his life would change so much after meeting his little wounded bird. The book has potential but there is something missed. The sex scenes are good but the lack of development of the characters make the story week. Apart from that, what happens when Ophelia enters de Dungeon is totally over the top. She doesn’t deserve the punishment for something she has no idea about. All in all, I enjoyed the book.
Ophelia has a one night stand that results in an unplanned pregnancy, she runs to Scotland to find her sister who went on vacation and ended up engaged. Upon arriving she finds her one night stand there. After hooking up with Tobias again and getting spanked a few times she takes off without telling him she is expecting. When he finds out he follows her back to California to make sure she understands that he loves her and wants to be with her.

Engaging story & series This is the second book in the Dungeon Fantasy Club series. We meet Ophelia, Zoey’s sister. Anya continues to interweave her storyline so that secondary characters in previous stories become the main characters in the next book. Her characterizations of the hero and heroine are accurate and interesting. Ophelia, Lia, decides she needs to have some fun in her life and goes out with her friends to a new club in Pasadena. She gets into a bad situation and needs to be rescued and protected. Tobias is a Dom in the DFC, & owns the Pasadena club. He doesn’t think he is safe for any woman to become permanently involved with because of his past history. But he absolutely cant resist Lia’s vulnerability. After some scorching sex between the two, Lia sneaks out and disappears. Two events happen in Lia’s life and she needs her sister. Lia leaves the US to confront Zoey & make her come home to her. Things don’t exactly go as planned. She meets Tobias again. Tobias is a friend of Declan’s and is visiting him when Lia shows up on the doorstep. He definitely isnt letting her get away again but Lia is a bit slippery and leaves again. This story kept me engaged and I just couldn’t put it down. It has some incredible sexy salacious bdsm scenes with Lia and Tobias. I can’t wait to read the rest of the Dungeon Fantasy Club series.
I've read & been a fan of most of the other Dungeon Fantasy Club books & have now gone back & read this book. I'm glad I have as I never really knew what the issue was between Zoey & her sister Lia. Having read this book now I have really mixed feelings. Characters that I have read & loved from other CFS books disappointed me in this book & left me feeling as if Lia was treated a little unfairly. Overall though, no relationship is easy, whether that be romantic or familial & this book conveys those emotions very well.
One night of fun, just a chance at a time away from studies, and her self appointed discipline, an unexpected savior, an unexpected evening, and an unexpected consequence. When Zoey announces that she is staying Scotland Ophelia goes to bring her home, she is afraid of doing it on her own. But Tobias isn’t letting her disappear from his life. The story and characters pull you in, the heat between them makes you melt. I so enjoyed reading this book again.

📚I am honestly and voluntarily reviewing an Advanced Reader’s Copy of this book from Booksprout 📚 I’m fast becoming a huge fan of Anya Summers, especially The Dungeon Fantasy Club Series!! This is the second book and Tobias and Ophellia‘s story. A one night stand sticks with these two in more ways than one. How they weave through their relationship, her relationship with her sister, and her guilt over her parents made this a really interesting read! Page turner from start to finish.
