This was such a well written story. I fell in love with the characters and cannot wait to read the next book in the series.

Katie is the oldest of six daughters on her family's ranch. A new ranch hand is hired and all six daughters are interested in him. Katie and Will, the new hand, are sent to a holding pen to bring additional stock for a coming sale. Katie and Will have adventures on this trek, including a visit by a large grizzly bear in the cave in which they had taken shelter during a rainstorm. A really good book.

Such endearing characters!
This was my second book by Danni and I am definitely a fan. Both times I wanted to finish the entire book as soon as possible. I loved all the characters who make up the extended family at the Broken J Ranch. Each one is unique but work together with rich loyalty and love for each other. The love story between Will and Katie is precious and clean which made it perfect for my kind of story. Book two of this series is certainly on my list of must read so I can witness more of the lives of the characters in which I have become so fond.

Katie's Dad promised his wife that he would make sure all of his 4 daughters married good men. He had to get help from his brother since there were very few men near the ranch. It is kind of a reverse mail order bride. Although Katie and Wilson fight it--her Dad and all the others on the ranch keep throwing them together. Katie thinks she is responsible for everyone and the ranch--and Wilson is afraid he will get fired if he starts to court Katie.
But no fears--there is a happily ever after!!

Great western
I live on a ranch and believe in the old school rules on how men and women dating are to act. It was good to see someone else believed in that also. And I for a fact know how much help a female is on a ranch.

Katie the Cattleman’s oldest daughter, the caretaker, the responsible one, the old maid she thought. Her job was to care for her father and her grand parents and her sisters and all the men working on the ranch. This is what Katie thought.
Will was a trail hearder from Kansas. Her Aunt And Uncle had found him and sent him along as her fathers new foreman. They had talked to him and outfitted him and sent him on his way. The package.ordered by the ranch, the whole ranch.
This ranch was really unusual. Six girls that worked with the men. The men were part of the ranch. They were earning there own land and they were all family. Getting older and ready to step aside for the right man. The one ready to prove himself the one to win his way. This is a heart warming story of hard work and warm hearts. The way to love is not always easy. Even with lots of help. Looking forward to next book

Fantastic story. Will is a cowboy who rides herds all over. His trusty horse and him have been all over. He is finished with his last job the boss didn’t pay him for the job and he has pretty much ready to move on to another. He decides to stop and ask at the mercantile to see if they know anyone looking for work. He stays with the couple and is sent to the broken J ranch. Seems they are in need of a Forman.
Katie is the oldest daughter of the owner of the broken j. She thinks she is past marriage, she feels she has a responsibility to take care of everyone living on the ranch. Little does she know her father has bigger plans.
Will learns that Katie is a strong woman and works as hard as the men. She rides and tends to the herds. But her being the bosses daughter he tries to keep himself in check and he really doesn’t want to get fired.
I enjoyed reading this book.. I think it’s heartfelt and written well.

It’s a sweet romance story; both, Katie and Will, carry emotional baggage and don’t quite know what to do with their growing attraction to each other. “I’m learning that life is all about your attitude and not your circumstances.”

Amazing story! I smiled, I cried and I kept on reading until The End. It’s a great historical western book which is my favorite genre’. I’ve often branched out to other great books but it is always a comfort to return to a western. There’s a family of girls, parents, grandparents, uncles and the like that all work together on a ranch in Wyoming. It’s a loving group and hardworking. Will Robertson is looking for work, has no family and has a big heart. Meeting the cattleman’s daughter was not only the love of his life but his future and family. Loved this book. (With all the trials at this time of Covid, it’s wonderful to have such a nice book to read as a break from the tragedies. Thanks)

The Broken J, a ranch built on love, respect and hard work. Katie James the eldest daughter of Joshua James works just as hard as any man on the ranch. At 24 she feels she is beyond marriage. Her job, in her mind, is to keep the ranch running for her father.
Wilson Robertson arrives as Foreman and realizes he is 20 years younger than almost everyone working this ranch. How will he fit in here? How will the ranch hands react to taking orders from a man his age?
What comes about will make you feel good. Just reading how the ranch is run is amazing. Such a wonderful and well written book!

Such a wonderful read!
This was such a feel good read! I feel in love with all the characters and with the Broken J Ranch. I feel as if I truly met new family. This book kept a smile on my face, I didn’t want it to end. The story flowed so nicely allowing me to let it sink in and ponder on it. I was hoping that more sequels involving the other sisters will follow, and guess what, there is! I’ve never read any books by this author but from now on I’m reading every book she writes!

Loved This Book And This Author
A brilliantly written story by what I would consider a very talented author. In reading Katie's story you felt like you could step back in time and be a part of this story. The story was a beautiful love story of two people who went through some struggles to finally be able see their love fulfilled. I am looking forward to reading more of Danni Roan's books. This was a story that I wasn't ready for it to end, but look forward to the next Cattleman's Daughter.

Katie is the oldest daughter of the Joshua James, a rancher in the wilds of Wyoming, and she feels like she has been tasked with taking care of everybody else and in the process forgetting to take care of herself. Will is in need of a job and a family and a simple job inquiry leads him to Joshua’s ranch and possibly the desires of his heart. But will Katie and Will allow themselves the simple pleasure of allowing somebody to take care of them for once? A lovely story written in a way that grasps your attention and holds it till the very end.

Setting: Started in Kansas, but most of the story was in Wyoming.
I read this as part of my challenge to read clean fiction from each of the 50 states. This is a Western in the 1800's. I loved the beautiful mountain setting of the Broken J ranch in Wyoming and I loved all the characters in this story. The owner of the ranch has six daughters and this one features the oldest, Katie. (This is a slow burn, sweet romance between Katie and Will, the new foreman of the ranch.) This series also features a book about the other five daughters and I would like to read those as well.

Arriving he meets the oldest daughter. Who is the most beautiful girl ever seen. He settles down to ranch routine as foreman. Lively place with the cowboys and the boss family. Clean story.

This is my first book by Danni and it will surely not be my last. I have already gone on Amazon an purchased the next three. This book had me at the heartstrings right from the start. It is one you will read long into the night. Danni Roan is a solid, beautiful storytelling. The Broken J Ranch and its extended family is a place you will want to visit. I can not wait to start the next book in this series.

A good clean book!
One of life's struggles is often trying to keep a promise, and Katie is trying to live up to a promise that is smothering her life. Wilson has nothing but his horse and a dream of his own ranch. Keeping a promise and fear of missing a chance for a dream ranch becomes a huge obstacle for Katie and Wilson, neither knowing the secret scheme of others. This is a good clean fun read.

A rancher and his bride had 6 daughters, included in that number was a set of twin girls. But ranchers needed boys, not girls. He wife died so other family members filled in but couldn’t fill the needs of the large ranch. But he needed help with the big ranch. Some wise relatives gave him some good advice. God sends answers but sometimes you can’t see them if you think you can’t the problem. Very funny but this could be the story of many settlers

The story is super thin and it is plagued with racist stereotypes. The romance is barely there, I enjoy a "clean" romance, but this one was too much so, the protagonists have few conversations and almost no physical contact. I imagine that there are some people who would enjoy a book like this, but I don't even wish to meet these people. I gave it 2 stars instead of 1 because there are no glaring typos or grammatical errors. I will not be reading any more books by the same author.

Sweet Story Clumsy Proofreading
Very nice story with good characters. Many mistakes in spelling and punctuation, but the flow was easy to follow. Speaking of following, I expect to follow this series through the remaining five daughters. I like the cryptic letters from the other "J" brothers. Maybe I will be able to crack their code before the series ends.

I loved this book
This book took me away to a different place and time. It was just what I needed. It has a cowboy needing a job and a ranch family needing a younger man. Without saying too much about the book I will say I laughed and got leaky eyes! Nice book. I highly recommend this book.

Very nice start to this series.

Sweet romance with a western flavor
Will a fine young man who is ready to settle down, and hopes for a chance to build a good life. Katie is a responsible young woman, whose promise to her dying mother leaves her filling a role she perceives to be her lot in life. Healing her father, guiding her sisters and caring for their ranch.

A very touching story. When Will travels to a new job as foreman on a cattle ranch, he is lonely and ready to settle down. He dreams of having a family and a home of his own. What will he find as he reaches his destination? I thoroughly enjoyed this book and recommend it to others.
