Cain and Abel #2

Captivating the Hostess

Rate this book
An unwilling hostess...
A disingenuous guest...
And a stolen kiss in the pantry with enough heat to melt the ice caps.

They work together but had never met. He travels the world, protecting the Innocent. She stays hidden and only reads about it.

Trust is not easy for either. He died the last time he trusted a woman. Death is absolute for anyone she trusts.

He's a Prime.
She's a Civilian.

There are rules against them getting close. Against them feeling anything more than platonic friendship for the other.

What starts as a simple stopover turns a corner when he can't heal from an attack. Then they learn their lives connect in more ways than one, and they realized they would rather fight with each other than fight apart.

This book is recommended for those seeking an Alpha that has significant trust issues but is willing to overlook them for his sleeping beauty. Mature Audiences only. Part of a series but can be read as a standalone.

Spellbinding!

S.J. Rowe has a talent for creating a story that draws you in, leaving you unable to put the book down and enticing you to turn the next page and then the next and so on. Love the first book, Propositioning a Thief, and couldn’t wait for the second. S.J Rowe did not disappoint!
Captivating the Hostess is an intriguing story with action, romance and a whole new world to explore. S. J. Rowe’s descriptive narrative makes it so easy to almost see and taste each experience that Lola and Eddie’s adventures.
I would recommend this book to any adult looking for an entertaining novel. This series is sure to become a favorite for all.

Marked for Deception is the second book in the series, but it is not necessary to have read book 1 to enjoy the story. It helps add some background. Most of characters are new.

I was swept up in the story and carried away from the beginning. There are undertones of something going on, but even as the characters are thrown together for an extended period of time it is hard for them to put their finger on if it is coincidental or signs of a larger plot. I was blown away by the twists and turns. I couldn't wait to know how the story would end.

I was pulled into Eddie's and Lola's relationship. Justifiably, Eddie has major trust issues. As there is a chance that Lolan may not be what she seems, his freezes her out. It is some of the hardest times for them both. They eventually have to admit that what is going on is more than lust.

A great story with steam and mystery. I cannot wait to read book three.

I picked this book as it was the second book in a series and I had enjoyed the first book. This book is okay. I still love the premise and we do learn more about this world that I find fascinating. The problem with this book is that it repeats itself often and has a lot of back and forth. I did find my mind wandering as I was reading it. I also found some of the feelings to be unrealistic. I have a hard time believing that you would still be attracted to someone after they had put a knife at your throat. I'm glad I read it and I will be looking for the next book just to see how things develop. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This is book 2 in Rowe's Cain and Abel series and as with book 1, is an enjoyable paranormal romance read. Great characters - main characters are Lola and Eddie. An overall good storyline (got a bit bored from time to time - but still liked the read overall) and I actually liked it a bit better than book 1. The author is providing us with a whole new world and paranormal races in this series that I find rather captivating with all it's secrets and twists. Looking forward to reading book 3!

Amazing! This series is everything. Characters are incredibly complex and deep. Plot is intricate and interweaves several lines together that keeps the pages turning. Lola and Eddie have a forever after story for the ages literally. Trusting another after the ultimate betrayal, loving without knowing if the other loves you in return, fighting for what is right and just. There was sadness, pain, violence, passion, love, and sprinkles of happiness. Lola and Eddie’s passion was hot and heavy. Love everlasting. I cannot wait for more in this series!

I loved the book. The plot was quite refreshing. The main characters were good too. The author has a good writing style. And there were a few times were I got bored. Still overall the book was awesome and I enjoyed reading it. I didn't read the first book. But it involved different characters so it was okay. I got an advanced review copy for free. And I would definitely like to read more books from the author.

So the first book was so good, but this one was even better, it was like the author became more immersed in the world. The secrets and the twists and turns had me in withdrawals every time I had to put it down.
