It’s never easy to confront those that are doing something dangerous. Especially when they are your friends. But, when you don’t stop them, things can go horribly wrong. That is a lesson that Hannah and Joe learned far too late. When Hannah and Joe realized what was happening at the party, they decided that they needed to leave. But, their friends had already been affected by whatever was going on. They were having too much fun and didn’t want to leave. When they couldn’t convince them to come with them, they left them there. They never dreamed how that decision would come to haunt them.
I related to this story a lot. Even though I am older than I once was, I can feel the regret in this story. It was captivating, and it left me feeling sad for Hannah and Joe. It was their fault but it wasn't, which I guess is how life goes.
I'm a bit torn by this story. It is very raised finger like. Will it really help teenagers to make a better judgement if they ever get in a similar situation? Maybe parents shouldn't be so strict then children feel save to tell them when they are in dangerous situations. But would you really tell on your friends and would they appreciate it? Maybe... maybe not. People are stupid and do stupid mistakes... Most of the time we get away lucky I guess, so this story is a good reminder of the what ifs....
