All it took to upend my entire world, was a single silk ribbon. The first night I met Ethan Thorne, we’d been hiding behind masks, dancing around the inevitable. I should have been content to watch from afar, to forbid myself from veering too close. But falling into our old patterns felt natural, the promise of a challenge hypnotising me into reckless action. I’d wanted to say goodbye, to apologize for the pain I’d caused all those years ago, but Ethan wouldn’t let me go so easily. With a single silk ribbon, he bound our destinies together. Now, we begin a new game, around pain and pleasure, with consequences beyond seduction and submission. Will this new game allow us to rediscover our connection and overcome the past or are we condemned to keep repeating the same mistakes? With our hearts on the line, all we can do is put our masks on, and pretend this game won’t change us, won’t hurt us, won’t end. ----------------------- Satin and Thorne is the second book in the Silk and Thorne trilogy. Mr. Thorne returns Lace and Thorne (available now)
There ae 3 books in the series and each one of them is really short so I'm gonna combine the review of the books .
all the 3 books are approximately 100pages and I personally feel that it all could have been included in a single book. It felt like reading a few chapters and then changing the book and i have kindle unlimited so it was free for me but otherwise i would not prefer to spend money n this book.
The plot was good but some parts just didn't make sense for me and also i was irritated by how small the book was.
Its the story of two people who knew each other for a summer when they were 10 and made a plan to run away together but couldn't. fast forward 15 years the girl has a flower shop and the boy is a billionare playboy who owns a tech company, both pretend they don't know each other.
For me the story was unnecesarily cmplicate at certain places but othewise it had a good storyline , 2 childhood friend meeting and 15 years who are in love but have their own baggage to carry.
This is the second book in the series and I do recommend reading them in order. Ethan and Nev’s story continues and they are trying to get to know each other again after not seeing each other since they were kids. Sparks are flying between them but will they truly know the person behind the masks and will they get hurt because of it? Fast-paced read with loads of drama and steamy chemistry. Ethan is very intriguing and I am looking forward to finding out more. I loved it!
Although a little unclear as to how young they were when they played as children, Thorne and Sierra were best of friends. True, it was just one Summer they spent together, but the strength of their affection still lingers. They were supposed to run away together, but something happened and they never did go through it. Now they are both adults and just by sheer Fate, they meet again. The nevers, emotions, and the unforgettable time they shared is a bond neither can resist.
As our story progresses, they both get deeper and deeper into the raw feelings and most of all, the attraction they feel for each other. Only one problem. Thorne is not an easy man to understand. He keeps everything inside and has difficulty trusting and opening up. It is up to Sierra to provide the emotional support he needs as well as try to open him up and trust again.
I must say I really enjoyed this story. My only problem, my analytical mind was a little confused because it was not clear just how young they were when they met. They are both in their late twenties early thirties now, so if their friendship happened 15 years ago, how could they both be pre-adolescent? If you can ignore that glitch, you will find this is a very entertaining story.
I am voluntarily reviewing these books. Thanks to the author for sharing a copy with me.
I was given digital ARCs from the author for all three parts of the Silk and Thorne series for my honest review. Wow! I was expecting a rompy pompy romance after book one’s start. Was I ever wrong. While the story continues where it left off at the end of Silk and Thorne, Sierra (Nev) and Ethan have their ups and downs, it seems like Sierra is the one who has her head on straight. Ethan is made out to be a brash, unapologetic billionaire boyfriend who plays with both Sierra’s heart and his own business dealings. I believe the author wants the readers to like Ethan, and shows us his sweet and humble side in that he easily rubs shoulders with high rollers as well as the boys in the barrio, And this works until later on his decisions pit him against Russian (presumed Mafia) and when he abandons Sierra, giving her carte blanche with his money . I’m not sure when Sierra learned to be a wealthy socialite on the fly after only running a flower shop, but I went with it. From this point on, though, I loathed Ethan. The story seems far fetched even for a billionaire boyfriend trope, but the writing is good, and the story kept me engaged.
For me although this is still interesting and I like the basis of the story, this one felt a bit bitty in a stop start sort of way. The flow wasnt there, I found the behaviour of Ethan confusing. One minute he is chasing Sierra then he has pulled away not showing any interest and is completely closed off to her in an almost nasty way. Even if she makes an effort to close the distance he walks away. I am hoping this becomes clear in the next part because it is frustrating, I can't get comfortable or really engrossed lost in what's happening on the pages which is disappointing. I feel the first part of this story was a better flow, it held my interest much more. It is a shame, the idea is good but maybe the author has overthought this one, put a few to many obstacles into it or just not allowed the characters to actually talk to each other about what's going on or how they feel. A bit more narrative between them would make it a better story. It did have a few better points but mainly I found it hard to focus.
This is book two in the Silk and Thorne series and it picks up where book one ends. Sierra is still confused about whether Ethan knows who she is or not. Sometimes he acts like he knows her and other times he doesn't. But she is drawn to him like a moth to a flame. She can not resist him and she wants to be around him. Ethan is a strange one to me. He seems to be hiding something. He goes away and comes back with bruises and tatters. And he seems off somehow but he snaps out of it. Then he whisks them away for the weekend. What is Ethan hiding? Will he remember Sierra? Can she trust him? Can she trust her feelings? Will they both end up hurting in the end? I am really enjoying this series so much, time to start book three now. **I received a free copy of this story to read and review and this is my honest opinion**
Second part of Sierra’s reconnection with Ethan is a lot longer than the first part. Sierra has several dates and her quirky friend April tells her to just live and not be quick to judge.
What did I like? I liked the fact that this part is fleshed out a bit more but the story itself has huge elephants in the room but the author gives us nothing. There is very little communication between the two and it makes for a tough read.
Would I buy or recommend? I’m going to push on to the third part. I don’t feel like this is a stopping point but I really hope for some clarification soon.
Thoughts for the author? I enjoyed the second part more but I’m anxious about where this is leading. I’m not really sure why your subjecting your readers to this mystery. I’m not really a fan of elephant in the room books. I’m pushing on because I’m invested.
This is the second in the series, and although good and well written I’m fed up. It’s just one big tease. It’s just another book about the developing relationship, in fact it doesn’t really take us anywhere. It’s a few days out, an interesting day at the race track, a few posh meals. A few interesting incidents with her assistant April who is becoming an actress, and then Ethan turns up injured yet she’s then getting horney for him, yet no mention as to why a multi Billionaire would have been assaulted in such a way.?, I’m assuming that in the next book they might actually, finally get to have sex, but I now can’t be bothered. I’d like to see them get together, but it’s so predictable. I had hoped for more from this book. I just felt like all three books are actually just one book, but split to get more money. I might be being unfair, but not for me I’m afraid
Sierra didn't think that ribbon could have such a profound affect on her. Ethan Thorne is back in her life, and determined to get closer to her, she wants to say goodbye, maybe apologize for the pain she caused, but finds herself being seduced by Ethan.
Sexy and fascinating characters, both want to control the direction of their relationship, but they are still hiding from the past. well written romance with unexpected insights into the characters, and a couple of interesting twists. I am hooked on this series, can't wait for the next book.
I am voluntarily leaving an honest and non-incentivized review of this ARC.
Here's why I gave 3 stars instead of 5: Sierra's childish response to Ethan showing back up, Ethan's almost emotionally abusive hot and cold BS, this installment left me with more questions than answers. I was irritated as all hell that Sierra kept throwing herself at a man that was ignoring her. The sexy times were good until they abruptly ended. I hope this isn't the writer's way of avoiding lengthy steamy scenes, but the way each ended frustrated me more than a little. Because I was so hooked by the first book I'll be reading the 3rd and hope it ends better than this installment would lead me to believe.
Ethan Thorne is a very interesting man. He has so many layers and so many facets to his personality. In this book, Nev and Ethan are trying to get to know each other as adults after not seeing each other since they were kids who had pledged to run away together before Nev disappeared. The Ethan in book 2 is very sweet and much like the Ethan she knew as a boy. This Ethan is not at all like the power hungry controlling billionaire in book 1. Who he really is and what he really wants, we will hopefully find out in book 3. Meanwhile, I am really enjoying the ride.
3 1/2 stars I hate cliffs with a passion, but these characters are intriguing and memorable. I missed book 2 when it came out and am glad that I am back on the Sierra and Ethan train. Their bond is really something else and unique to couples of other books. Sierra's convictions and doubts are honest and real. Ethan is starting to worry me a bit based on subtle changes, but it just makes me think that there is something deep that just hasn't been exposed to us yet - either that or he's bi-polar. LOL! I really enjoyed the day at the track. It gave insight to both Sierra and the reader about the type of life Ethan leads vs. the one he wants to lead and who his true self is. I can't wait for more.
This 2nd instalment was a bit pointless, and it felt like the author had lost the momentum making this novel into 3short books - I think one complete novel would have been better to continue the flow. I have to say the flower shop assistant as a character/best friend is really annoying and childish around sierras flourishing relationship with Ethan, that said, it doesn't really feel like the romance moves on or blossoms in this book so book 3 will have a lot of ground to cover.
This is the second part of what I'm assuming will be a trilogy. We delve more into Ethan's and Nev's characters and this looks to be a good story when it's finished. I am curious as to what is really going on with this guy. He has so many facets to his character and I'm really intrigued. Is he out for revenge or what? Hopefully we won't have to wait too long for the rest. I received an advance copy of this book from the author and this is my honest and voluntary review.
Silk and Thorne book 2. Ok I disliked this book. I tried to like It but This was not happening. It was a difficult read cause it seemed disjointed so many times. But I pushed through cause I like some of the characters. I hate the ending. It left me with more questions than understanding even from the first book. Not sure if I'm going to read the 3rd book. A new author for me and I kind of want my money back.
After her “flashback” Sierra knows that she should stay away from Ethan for her own good; however, she is drawn to him both out of curiosity and physical attraction. Ethan seems to be hiding something when he goes away and returns with bruises, etc. He also seems somewhat “off”. What is really going on with Ethan? Should Sierra be afraid of him? Next book, please. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Book two of this dynamic duo! The mystery is still as well as the chemistry but I have to wonder, what is Mr Thorne up to? Who is he exactly? I’m glad everything is going smooth but I need more of the story! I need to know his secrets! So yes, continue to read and grab book 2!!
This book was a really good read. Ethan is such a mystery to me. I am totally baffled. Sierra is just as baffled I think. He is so hard to read. I guess a man of mystery can be a good thing. I can't wait to read the next book. I have to see what happened to Ethan and how this all ends. This book had me hooked. I couldn't out it down. A very good read!
I expected an explanation why Ethan left Sierra high and dry. I didn’t get any. The story moved on without one. I just did not get depth and passion from this couple. There’s a disconnect somewhere. Can’t put my finger on it. Then it continues in book three? Well.....
* I received a free copy of this book by the author and am voluntarily leaving a review*
To slow first book was boring second one ever worse hope the third book comes to life Not recommended needed something to read hope some of your other books are better better
To slow the first book was boring the second book worse scared to read the third one I wouldn’t recommend
I enjoyed the first book very much and looked forward to reading this one, however am disappointed. I like books where the characters speak to each other .. not where am mostly reading their thoughts. When this happens its hard for me to pick up the book or have any desire to read it, I set the book aside.
Yes!!!! I really enjoyed this story... I'm so glad I was able to read it.. very much what I wanted to read.. Cant wait for more books by this author...
This is the 2nd book in this trilogy. I absolutely loved it. Looking for a great and quick read this book is for you. Can’t wait to see what happens next
