My review :
Can an outcast make a true home with a man who might reject her as the others already did...
It was the blurb that intrigued me, the prologue does not speak about Ytha and Garth outside naming them. But I love the idea of an outcast finding its right place.
First and foremost, download the free prologue to be able to understand this tale wholly. Vikings : Prologue (Viking Surrender Book 1) by Ashe Barker. Link : https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07Z7BBGGM/...
Ytha is one of the few woman not fighting her chief’s order, she is even very happy to have been given a husband, if only said husband would agree and accept her. Garth is suffering from incapacitating headaches, and with gossips whispering his new bride might be cursed, he is more than reluctant to make this marriage a real one. Their journey is about them getting to know each other and giving freely their trust. But it is a trip they must take together to meet half way. Sure their chemistry is scorching hot but it is not enough to strengthen their union if they have no faith in the other. 5 stars for this lovely tale.
I read it in the bundle gathering the 9 tales of these Viking warriors finding their wife among a pict village peoples.
The year Ytha, Ailsa's sister, was born, the crops had failed and many of the villagers died. Being a superstitious lot they felt the purple birthmark on her back was a sign she was a changeling and had brought evil upon them so they left her outside in the jungle to die. Taken in by Nessa, an older woman who lived in the woods, Ytha survived but never really became a full part of the village. So when she and Garth were paired together, Garth had his doubts. It made him uneasy if she truly were a witch and him having a weakness. This was a great blending of two individual within the village. Giving us answers to a few unasked questions and yet, it left a few open-ended. I'm hoping they'll be answered as we get further into the series.
ONE THRILLING WORK OF ART!!! Merda Santa! Sassa produces one mesmerizing, engaging, heart pounding, pulse racing, sensational, page flipping delight that blasts this bad boy wide open. Satisfying is an understatement, you get it all with this enthralling treat. This baby may be quick but there is nothing short about it. Drama, adversity, secrets, ambivalence, intrigue and suspense keep you riveted on a razors edge. Add distress, skepticism, speculations and turmoil and you have one explosive adventure. A tightly spinning eddy of unanticipated events launch this baby into a tailspin with surprising impacts. Delivering well rounded scenario's so intense you feel the pulse racing, electrifying hum running rampant through your viens. Hurdling trials and tribulations along with a few bumps and bruises send this bad boy skyrocketing. The chemistry sizzles as each layer is peeled back exposing a deep bond and amplifying affections that leave you reeling. The characters are realistic, intriguing and authentic with depth and qualities that add just enough flaws for diversity. The scenes are so vividly detailed and descriptive it gives the illusion you were right there in the middle of ground zero with them. Remarkable job Sassa, thanks for sharing this bad boy with us.
Ytha has always been an outcast in her village. A fails harvest the year of her birth, and her calm nature has her parents abandoning her to the forest. She was raised.by Nessa another outcast, and only returned when she was older. A seer, she lives in the outskirts of the village. Her only other real friend is her sister. She is supposed when Eithne choses her as a bride for the Vikings. She is no widow. Garth is angry with having to take a wife. While the gift of lands is a good one, his wife is thought to a witch and is just tolerated by the village. He is already cursed since childhood, with pains in his head. Garth and Ytha get off to a rough start. Ytha never thought she would have a husband so is determined to try to make her marriage work. Garth starts to fall for his strong and smart wife. Sweet and steamy. Spanking for discipline and pleasure. A nice epilogue to wrap up their story. Part of a multi author series and can be read as a stand alone.

This union introduces Garth, a Viking with headaches, and Ytha, an outcast of the village because of her visions of the future. Garth does not want to take her to wife because he fears her also. But Ytha looks in the marriage as a new start for her and demands his attention. They are fiercely attracted to each other and Garth admires her beauty and intelligence. However misunderstandings develop because of his headaches and a rift ensues. Ytha’s stubbornness and refusal to follow his orders get her in trouble. Will she learn to obey while keeping her spirit or will her past and his come between them forever? Passion and love abound. A great read!
The villagers believed that because Ytha has a purple birthmark on her back that she has brought evil to the village they believe that she is a witch so they dump her in the forest to die but she is taken in by Nessa because no one wanted anything to do with her. Garth is forced to marry Ytha he’s heard that she is a witch and because of his illness he believes that she will use it against him but as they get to know each other love arises but it’s never easy. This is a great story and I recommend this book.
This is book seven of the Viking Surrender series. Each of these Authors have come together and made this a series that flows smoothly from book to book. This is Garth and Ytha's story, I found myself laughing at somethings as I read especially when she is giving birth. I enjoyed reading this book and I will be reading this series. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Itha is chosen to marry Garth. He doesn't want her and is worried she's a witch. She's not sure she trusts him.
This is another story in an interesting series. They tie together but can be read on their own. Garth is a little more aggressive than some of the other Vikings. His punishments are a little more harsh. Nothing non-consensual. I would have liked a little more development of their emotional connection.
More of the same, a reluctant bride and reluctant groom with the question can this marriage work? Garth has a weakness he doesn't want to talk about- he suffers headaches that leave him unable to function. Ytha was so much the better character, intelligent, trying to understand and please her new husband. I enjoyed some of the characterisations but once again spanking seems to be to the fore. Obviously if that your turn on, then it will appeal.
This is the 7th book in the Vikings Surrender series and just like all the others that preceded it, it is awesome. If you love to read about Vikings, then this book plus the others in the series is well worth the read. Just loved it. Hope you do too!

Garth and Ytha are both finding how to manage their marriage. The drama, suspense and stubbornness will definitely make you read it in one sitting. I’m loving this series 💕
Utah and Garth's story was amazing. It was full of action, adventure, lust and love. It is one of the best books in this series. I wish their story would have been longer though 😉
I really like the stories in each of the books in this series, all these strong Vikings brought about by even stronger women. One thing I don't care for is in each book is the punishment the Vikings do to their wives. Reminds of S&M.
Ytha (Etha) and Garth were funny. All they went through together. I loved the characters and storyline. It’s still sad that Alarik died! Guess that bothers me big time! A new life for Little Alarik! On to Jerrik’s story. 🥰💜💜💜💜💜
These Viking Warriors have certainly met their matches in the Pict Women who have become their wives. The Vikings can not help but discipline, love, and protect their women. Entertaining tale.
I think this was my favorite in the series! Ytha was hysterical and I love her sass! Reading this book has made me start reading other Sassa Daniels books. I like the dynamic here and the fact that Ytha was onboard with the union while Garth had reservations.
Another arousing book in this series. This story, as with most of the others have a theme of domination. An interesting twist with the hero having migraines and the heroine an outcast.
I found this one a smidge dull - lots of repetitive materials that has been covered in previous books, and a few spankings... I dunno.... nothing else really happened.
I read this when it was part of a set, Vikings. Because not much has changed (with the exception of an epilogue), I'm going to leave my original review here; take it for what it's worth.
First, a warning: There is no disclaimer regarding this book's elements of domestic discipline (dd) or corporal punishment of adult women. In this particular case, the dd borders on the vicious (a whipping with switches). If lines like this don't bother you -- "The screech that ripped from her throat was more animal than human" -- then this is the book for you. If they do (as they do bother me) and you're interested in the subject matter, you may want to read Magnus or Ragnar, which have Vikings who manage to have passionate sex with their wives without -- gasp! -- beating them.
Now onto the actual book. Below is my opinion; take it for what it's worth.
All the books are enemies-to-lovers stories (though really it's Garth who wants to be an enemy; Ytha accepts him from the beginning) and have three (as I saw it) overall themes. One is -- as another reviewer very wisely mentioned -- the importance of moving on from loss. The second is the blending of cultures (particularly welcome in today's anti-immigrant, us-vs.-them world) as each Pict and Viking character shares stories or customs from their respective lands; in this case, in one of the best parts of the book, Garth and Ytha share legends from their different cultures that have a common image (as many disparate myths do): a metaphor not only for their now-blended cultures, but also for their now-blended personal lives. The third is dominance/submission broadly applied to an entire town. That is, the Vikings act as doms (protective providers who rescue the Picts from enemy attacks) and the Picts as submissives (those who swear their obedience in exchange for this protection). Thus, while both the men and women are marrying under duress (rather than just the women), it's the centuries-old marital bargain before the appearance of more modern views of marriage: each partner brings something tangible to the marriage that has nothing do with love or shared interests. In this case, the Vikings bring the brawn to defend the community, and the Picts provide the land. Of course, since this is romance, love does grow between the couples. And, because it's an erotic romance in this particular genre, the sexual acts are described in detail.
I've rated this story slightly higher than I did originally because, upon re-reading, I believe that Ytha is stronger than I thought she was. Initially, I was frustrated with her because she keeps trying to win Garth's love even though he keeps pushing her away (there is submission and then there is abnegation). In addition, she doesn't mind that he punishes her unfairly when it was his ill-temper that created the situation. But, she is very courageous (she fights off thieves), intelligent, and forgiving (too forgiving, actually). In any case, as with most of Ms. Daniels' books, the h is much more sympathetic than the H, who, like all her male characters, is pretty much an ass (at one point, we learn that he was indifferent to the physical well-being of a female slave he was sleeping with). Though he does grow to care for Ytha and doesn't try to change her (I really, really appreciated that he didn't stop her from doing what she takes pride in), he constantly thought about whether or not she was a good wife to him and not whether he was a good husband to her. In fact, I'm at a loss to say exactly what he does for her (except the sex). She hunts, cooks, defends their home, cures his migraines (they don't use that word), etc. I'm really not clear what she gets out of it.
The writing is decent and relatively error-free (though "infer" and "imply" are not used correctly here). There are some plot holes (why, for example, Giric turns up out of the blue is never explained).
3 stars (maybe 4 stars if you enjoy these authors: Kate Pearce, Jess Michaels).
I’ve read the entire series of books. My review will be the same for all book. Some were more enjoyable to read then others however the series as a whole and each individual book to me is still 3 stars (half I would give 3.5 stars). You can read each book within 1-2 hours; quick reads.
These books/series are worth a read but didn’t really have me excited about interacting with the book where I could not put it down (skimmed through parts of the books). It lacks the excitement and well roundness of my personal markers for a great read throughout the book.
There was a lack of development and interest in main characters in some of the books (which I found irritating). I enjoy secondary characters and there were a few moments in the books, enough info was provided that I read the series.
There were a handful of humorous scenes in most of the books. I do prefer well written humour and this series lacked in that department.
I found the movement of the books ‘choppy at times’ especially around the story telling overall.
The writing /conversation of the book was not the style that gets me engaged and partner with the books characters to enjoy this book past a first read.
There are MAJOR sexual scenes throughout the book (kissing, oral, love making) and SPANKING in all the books.
Read this book/series once and that is enough for me.
I wouldn’t cross a few of the authors out of my potential reads in the future.

What an Alpha Ytha has never been truly excepted for who she is. As a baby she was left in the woods as the village had a bad harvest the year she was born, thankfully she is found by Nessa and she brings her up. Her village believe Ytha is a witch with a curse. So now as an adult she lives on the outskirts of the village not really bothering anyone. When the Viking come to her village to be married to a selection of woman Ytha is chosen to marry Garth, and he is not pleased to be marrying her. He has heard the rumours of her been a witch and he doesn't believe he will be a good pairing as he himself has a curse. They dont get off on the right foot, Ytha has a sassy mouth that Garth knows he must get under control and show her who is the Alpha in this relationship. And take control he does. But can they be happy??? I loved the banter between these two and the chemistry is off the charts. Their talks are really heartfelt and it really makes this book in my eyes. A great read!!
