With this key figure of German literature, the movement of Weimar classicism in the late 18th and early 19th centuries coincided with Enlightenment, sentimentality (Empfindsamkeit), Sturm und Drang, and Romanticism. The author of the scientific text Theory of Colours , he influenced Darwin with his focus on plant morphology. He also long served as the privy councilor ("Geheimrat") of the duchy of Weimar.
Goethe took great interest in the literatures of England, France, Italy, classical Greece, Persia, and Arabia and originated the concept of Weltliteratur ("world literature"). Despite his major, virtually immeasurable influence on German philosophy especially on the generation of Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel and Friedrich Wilhelm Joseph von Schelling, he expressly and decidedly refrained from practicing philosophy in the rarefied sense.
Influence spread across Europe, and for the next century, his works inspired much music, drama, poetry and philosophy. Many persons consider Goethe the most important writer in the German language and one of the most important thinkers in western culture as well. Early in his career, however, he wondered about painting, perhaps his true vocation; late in his life, he expressed the expectation that people ultimately would remember his work in optics.

Una de las más importantes obras del romanticismo bien reflejada en este resumen. Buen arte, buen guión.

La editorial La Otra H nos trae la obra más importante del romanticismo en forma de Manga.
Las ilustraciones de este Manga y la historia se ciñen muy bien a la obra de Goethe, os invito a que le echéis un vistazo si queréis. Ideal para los que no se han leído el libro, pueden hacerse una idea de las penas del joven Werther en este maravilloso formato.
La historia se remonta a Mayo 1771, donde el joven Werther escapa de su familia que no aprueba su amor por el arte.
Conocerá a Carlota cuando es invitado a un baile, y quedará anonadado de como es ella. Amable, cariñosa y entregada al cien por cien a la vida familiar.
Carlota, una joven prometida, se convertirá en el amor imposible de Werther.
Seremos testigos del carteo de Werther con su querido amigo Guillermo. Sus vivencias, sus declaraciones de amor y su sufrimiento. Goethe da vida a un personaje enamoradizo, apasionado, que
pone el amor por delante de todo, incluso de su propia vida.
Como dato de interés Carlota existió de verdad, Goethe se quedó prendado de ella nada más conocerla, y se dice que frenó sus avances como escritor.
Detrás de los amores imposibles hay admiración , amor, necesidad, dolor,cariño, compasión por uno mismo, dependencia emocional… aquí podemos ver que en el amor no siempre es perfecto.

Magnifica edición de este clásico. Una imagen puede detallar mas de mil palabras. Eso me provoco leer este libro. Venia con una idea de lo que se trataba, pero me conmovió y comprendí por que es un clásico. Después de leerlo indague mas sobre la vida de Johann Wolfgang von Goethe y me di cuenta de las muchas similitudes de Goethe y Werther, prácticamente Werther es Goethe.

El manga esta muy bien, yo me leí el libro y la verdad es que no es una mala adaptación aunque no profundiza tanto como el libro original pero tampoco le puedes pedir eso a una adaptación que trata de dar la base, recomiendo si os gusto el manga que leais el libro, muy recomendable

Un muy buen resumen de todo lo que entendemos por romanticismo. La muerte, la oscuridad, la tristeza, el amor, la pasión, la amistad, la entrega, son las fuerzas que marcan la vida de los personajes.

Lo leí de esta forma porque me pareció llamativa. Una manera creativa para introducir a los más pequeños a la literatura universal.
