Terminator 1+: The Future Is Not Set, bridges the timespan between Terminator and Terminator 2: The Rise of the Machines. It answers the questions left hanging and introduces us to characters that ultimately populate the Terminator Universe.
The story is decent and for the most part lines up well with the stories from the Terminator movies. The technical interludes are fun. I'm not sure how accurate the math is, but I'm not going to pick it apart personally. The only major bad thing - this book needs a decent editor to do a revision for spelling and grammar issues.
This was a great read that fills the gaps very nicely between t1 & t2. Alot of the side comments fm both of those movies are 'fleshed' out here. There' s even references to t3. I was pleasantly surprised a certain psychiatrist playing a very prominent role throughout. It's one of the more entertaining aspects of the tie-in for me. If you're into 80s-90s terminator nostalgia, this is a fun read; very well written by Mr Sondrini. While some may reserve 5stars for Moby Dick or War & Peace (which I've read & they are), there's nothing that prevents a well written & engaging story fm also earning that distinction.
I'm really impressed with the detail and research the author put into this. It fills in a lot of the blanks that happen between T1 and T2. My only complaint is that the author used 1986 for the year T1 took place, instead of 1984.
I would have loved an actual human to narrate this but given its Terminator and skynet, I guess the computer voice is.. okay? Lots of issues with pronouncing names and words though. I’m sure it will learn.
