When Nell is attacked after a body is pulled from the local river, two investigations swing into motion, with no obvious link between them. The killer plots to keep the cases separate and conceal the damning secrets from his past that would lead to a connection, and his demise.
As his attempts to complete the cover-up fail, his frustration and rage turn toward the person who stands in his way.

At the beginning of December 2013, I sat down at my computer and started typing. I had a story in my head that insisted on being released and four months later I had written my first novel.

Writing is not new for me. I've been writing since my teenage years. It is only now that I have felt the urge to take it more seriously.

My credentials? I don't have a degree in writing and I'm not published extensively (yet). My first job was the Australian Army Reserve and I left only to enlist in the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF). I loved the life and it has left me with an interest in the things military and law enforcement related. Another passion in my life is research. I love to find out about things and have been doing that since high school. Not content with set assignments, I used to take up my own research projects on a wide range of topics. So rest assured, if it's in one of my stories, I have researched it extensively. Having said that, there will be occasions when I need to take a bit a license, bend the truth to fit the story.

I love writing. I love letting the story inside me come to life on a page. It's intoxicating. The pure pleasure I experience is something incredible, so I will keep writing for as long as the stories keep appearing in my mind. If someone else enjoys reading what I write, then that increases the joy I feel. Winners all round!

In brief:

Age: Old enough to have grown three grown children.

Lives: Tasmania, Australia.

Inspiration for stories: Music of all kinds, overheard comments, strange news items.

Interests: Motorsport, reading, research.

Guilty pleasures: Self-confessed stationery junkie.

I would describe this book as a Romantic Thriller and I highly recommend it to readers who enjoy those two genres. (My cold little heart doesn't easily thaw with romance!)
The book is very well written and the combination of the two genres work incredibly well in this story. Nell is busy falling in love. But while she is worrying about her family's acceptance and how she'll cope in a relationship with a man who will often be working away at sea, she is completely oblivious to the fact she witnessed a neighbour disposing of his wife's body. As the police investigate, Nell is getting engaged while her neighbour is making plans to eliminate the one link between himself and his wife's death.
The read also gave an interesting insight into the lives of the men and women who are in the navy.
An enjoyable read with likeable characters.

Quite the Thriller

This was a great suspense story as well as a romance. It was interesting reading how the author wove together the mystery with the growing relationship between James and Nell. Great set of secondary characters, too. The plot kept me engaged to the end.

Hard to give it a star. I loved the star and it hooked me in. The writing was well done. A mystery murder. I had to catch up with the back and forth but once I did it was great. Until 25% or a little before chapter sixteen. Sadly I do bedroom scenes. It didn't show anything untill just into chapter sixteen but it was too much for me. It was too fast for one thing and for another I don't think it added to the actual developing storyline. Sorry.
