Sometimes it happens that an author's voice is just so compelling that it can take the craziest set of plot details and spin a story I cannot put down.

This was exactly what I wanted to read today. It had perfect pacing, well-rounded characters and fabulous sexual tension. A too-cute small town, the hero's overeager, super-welcoming family and a two-dimensional villain knock a star off, but I didn't realize these things even annoyed me until after I was finished reading. I was so transported that the Curmudge-O-Meter stayed silent throughout.

I was ready to hate the hero and heroine since the hero already has a girlfriend and I just loathe cheaters and home wreckers. But the way Garret acted upon his confusions regarding the two women just melted my hearts. I cannot not love him.

Another enjoyable read by Kay Stockham. On to Nick's story His Son's Teacher by Kay Stockham next.

This is the first in a book about siblings and I have to admit that I really liked it especially the writing which pulled me in and I was actually wanting my teachers to hurry up and get my classes over with so I could read what happens next and how the hero and heroine would finally get together when things were so complicated, you see the hero has been in a relationship for three years with a woman he likes, their families have the same social status and her father is his boss.

I must admit I don't like cheating but this isn't completely so, from the get go you can clearly see that their relationship is not perfect, after all if it was the hero who bought the ring would have popped the question long back, despite everyone telling him to, instead he is swamped with dealing with all the hospital stuff and dealing with his terror of a boss, even his girlfriend prefers to work rather than spend time with him, but these two have come to accept what their families want and you can see it is not what they want but they don't acknowledge that for a long time, instead the hero Garret finds himself taking care and worrying about Darcy who he rescued when she was stranded in a storm, while driving to her mother's to start a new life(she's pregnant and the baby's father unwilling).

I really liked Darcy, she didn't want charity but was in a bad condition, needing to rest for her baby, as well again finding out that her mom was not to be trusted and would not put her first ever and then comes Garret who is so good to her, takes her in for a few days and then even makes her live with his grandmother, he's the first person in her life to be always there for her while she doesn't want to take advantage.

Then there is Garret's best friend and his girlfriend, who seem to feel a pull towards each other, but his girlfriend has always followed her father, I really felt that the hero and his girlfriend needed to be woken up to reality and they are when Garret fears of losing Darcy, when she tells him she is not willing to be the other woman, waiting for him to sort out his feelings instead she is going to make a good life for her baby, that he finally realizes that he needs her in his life and finally does something with his life, instead of stuck in a rut.

This had all the things that make a small town romance a needed read every so often. It was too sweet, too family-e, good guy hero, too nice heroine in need, slow burn, sexual tension and a bad guy just for some balance. I don't read sweet, hometown romance often, but when I do, I like this formula. I also enjoyed this authors writing. It was quick yet well developed.

I need more!!!!

I enjoyed this story.
It happens, you think you in love with someone and then meet “the” one and all goes to hell.

I am happy that Darcy n Garret had their HEA but I was left wanting more of Toby and Joss!!! Like, what happened to them? Did Joss accepted him? Or did Harry made Tobias go away?

Do Toby and Joss have their own book?
If so, what’s the title?

Predictable... Yawn

Garett is nearly engaged and falls for needy, pregnant woman with car trouble. He was all touchy, and sweetheart, and he just pulled her out of ditch? I guess it's to be a more acceptable relationship, if they throw a side romance in for his long-time girlfriend.

The main story could’ve been really good but unfortunately it was ruined not only by a love triangle but a love square! I am not a fan of these scenarios and especially ones like this one where it all just ends up ok without any drama after spending most of the book dragging it out.

Darcy and Garrett

Darcy is beside herself. Here she is in her VW and has just slid into a rusted guardrail on a mountain in Tennessee. What else can go wrong. She knew better to ask as now she can't find her cell right away and when she does it has no bars. Then with the pain in her back and stomach..jeez! Then there's a bang and she's almost afraid to know who or what it is. Thankfully Garrett was on his way home or he never would have come upon the wreck. But a pregnant woman by herself? Where was the father? He gets her out of her car into his and heads toward the hospital in Beauty where he works and has OnStar call ahead so they are expecting them when they arrive much later due to the road conditions. Tobias Richardson his best friend finds him in his office, having brought his sister in to have her baby since her husband was out of town. Garrett picks up another stack of folders to take home. It seems he's taking on more and more of Harry's job every day! Harry, the hospital's president, yeah right. Then there's Jocelyn, Joss for short his girlfriend of three years and Harry's daughter. Everyone was pressuring him as to when he was going to pop the question. Only he had no clue! When he finds Darcy after being told she had been released, he tries to find a hotel for her, but everything was booked to capacity due to the state of emergency with the weather! So he takes her home to his place. He has one monster headache! He would deal with everything on Monday. What happens next? Will Joss understand? Why is Harry all bent out of shape? What is the deal with his best friend? Only one way to find out, read this great story by Kay Lyons. You will love the ending 😘

Double the unexpected romance...

Not quite a meet cute, the leads first interact when her car goes off the road in a storm and he saves her; hence the title I'll let the author describe it:

"The man bent into the car, effectively blocking the opening and shielding her from the worst of the weather. She caught a brief sniff of his cologne. The dome light above their heads didn’t illuminate much, but she was able to make out dark, close-trimmed hair, thick brows, a longish nose and the shaded roughness of lightly stubbled cheeks. He had to be gorgeous, didn’t he?"

Garrett's gorgeous and intelligent. Darcy's lovely - and heavily pregnant. He's a gentleman and brings her to the hospital, then home after that since all local motels are booked due to the storm.

Things snowball (ha, yeah, I went there) quickly after that.

***Spoilers ahead!***

He's nearly engaged to the daughter of his boss who happens to rule pretty much everything from how it's portrayed. Joss, his girlfriend, is opening an art gallery to her father's dismay. Tobias, his best friend, falls for Joss while Garrett's falling for Darcy - kisses ensue for both couples; there's some cheating happening if that's a hard no for your reading.

There's plenty of family issues to go around - Darcy and her mother, Garrett's family, and Joss's blustering father. But there are lovely family moments as well, a nice blend.

Overall good, cleanly edited but the happy ending requires a bit of suspension of disbelief.

Neatly written, clean small town romance.
Pregnant heroine Darcy is stranded in small town is rescued by rich, workaholic Garrett.

Garrett is in a relationship already and is bring pressured by his girlfriend's father, who is also his boss, to propose. He is dragging his feet even though his girlfriend is nice. His girlfriend is also just marking time in the relationship, scared to go against her domineering father's wishes.

When Darcy and Garrett meet the two become close friends and have amazing chemistry. There is a bit of angst caused by "emotional cheating", even though they don't sleep together. At the same time Garrett's girlfriend has a serious enemies-to-lovers vibe going on with his best friend Toby. Toby obviously likes her but has backed off because she's his best friend's girl.

I enjoyed the small town location and large family of the main character. I don't enjoy reading stories where the main characters start a relationship before ending the one they are in, particularly when their current partner is a good person. This story had both partners "cheating" on the other, even though the author did a good job of showing that their relationship had become more that of friends who remained together to avoid conflict with other people than lovers.

This book does not contain descriptive love scenes.

Good start to a new series by Ms. Lyons. This has everything you’d expect a small-town romance to have. There’s the hometown hero and an all-around good guy who is loved by everyone. There’s the overbearing, pompous jerk who the majority of the town is afraid of. There’s the best friend of said hometown hero who is really a good guy but from the wrong side of the tracks. Oh, and who is also a target of the pompous jerk’s disdain. Then there’s the cheerleader, homecoming queen who everyone knows is perfect for the hometown hero, they’ve been dating for three years and everyone is waiting for him to put a ring on it. He’s tried, he really has. He just can’t seem to find the right moment. Then suddenly a down on her luck, very pregnant woman becomes stranded in a snowstorm who is rescued by the hometown hero. I’m sure you’re sensing the plot by now. This is a clean, sweet, smooth-flowing story about how it all goes down and is resolved. It’s not all sunshine and roses. How could it be with that plot? But there isn’t high drama. There are plenty of melt your heart moments and a few laughs along the way. All in all, this is a very enjoyable long afternoon read.

This is the story of Ezekiel and Rhonda love. He is the star basketball player and she is a pageant Queen . She was tricked by a friend to be on a show for charity. Thinking it was a game show when it was a dating show. Ezekiel knows its a dating show but doesnt have time to date. He is intrigued by dream girl number two. And of course she is drawn to him as well. Rhonda has never even kissed a man she is waiting for the right one that soecial forever guy. This is a sweet live story where try connect on many levels and chemisty is there. Of course if you have read the other Tanner series you know that these are the parent. I love how brooke St. James oulls you and makes you feel like your part of the story and you know them. You can feel what they are going through smell and taste. This is a sweet live story with a very happy ever after. I am so glad she wrote how the parents met.

“Her Snowbound Hero”(Tennessee Tulanes Book 1)

This book requires a little bit of thinking to keep the characters straight, there are a few of them, falling in and out of love, along with a few you’d like to see go! Some of it takes place in a hospital, where a few of them work, and the main woman character pregnant, and alone finds people to care about her. While the hospital administrator,a gruff, nasty man, tries to run all over people by threatening them with their jobs. His daughter is opening an art gallery, trying to get out from under Daddy’s thumb.
What happens to the pregnant lady, the doctor, and the gallery lady ? You’ll just have to read it to find out if true love really does win out!

3.5 stars. I liked Small Town Scandal enough, but it hit on a couple of tropes I guess I wasn't expecting, one being the "other woman"; not in a casual OWD way, but in the FMC actually BEING the "other woman." And a heads-up for any readers like me... This is a clean romance. I didn't see that advertised anywhere and wasn't expecting that, so I was very disappointed. As much as I fell for Nick as the single-dad brother side character in this book, I won't be continuing the series and reading book 2, which is his book. However, if you're a fan of clean romance, this was very well-written, so I would recommend it to fans of the genre!

Cute but give me angst

A book that was okay said something that stuck with me. "My life started without me seven years ago and I'm not letting it ever get away again." Garrett should have said something similar. He should have been the one to lay it all on the line and beg her to not take his life away. He coasted through life and his relationships because he didn't want to upset anyone. He needed to be the one that said my life is on the other side of that door and because I didn't have enough guts I might miss all of it. Everyone lacked guts and nobody got called on it.

Clean, emotional, anguish, growing

My first book I read by this author and I was blown away. This storyline was an emotional roller coaster, but in a good way. the characters had room to grow and developed with each turn of the page. I truly appreciated how the author delved into dynamics that hit reality head on. I loved how the female main character had enough balls to stand up for herself even though she was broken. The main male character was truly a gentleman. I loved this book and it's highly recommended for anyone to read.

Very relatable!

OMG! I absolutely loved this book!! I can relate because I went through the same thing. Unfortunately, I ended up hurting my boyfriend to be with his best friend. It's no excuse, but my boyfriend was not willing to go out of his way for me. He wouldn't even hold my hand when I asked him to because he "never did it with any other girlfriends." I knew I couldn't live like that. I ended up marrying his best friend and we are married for 40 years with 5 kids and 6 grandkids. I'd say it worked out.

This is one of those stories brings a pregnant Darcy to the hometown of Garret, in Tenn. When she gets stuck in a snowstorm and her car. It is Garret who finds her. She had just left her no-good ex and her baby daddy. You see she’s pregnant. She is on her way to live with her mother which she doesn’t even like but what can a girl do. But when blizzard conditions leave her with nowhere to stay and in false labor.
Onsight there is an attraction but Garret is in a relationship with his boss's daughter for the last three years so, it can’t go anywhere. When he opens his home to her it starts people talking and them wondering. And for that gets your blood boiling. You are talking to the characters for making the wrong decisions, choices, whatever you choose to call it.
You do get, a HEA, but it leaves a lot of unanswered questions. Like what does Harry do when Garret confronts him? What does Joss say when asked that important question? Is there a confrontation between Toby and Harry?
This is more of a feel-good story if you are looking for conflict, passion, or angst. This is not it. This is, however, a fast read. The thing is Jos is a pretty whipped character. She is what thirty and she still will not tell her dad off.
I give it to Darcy she becomes a mom bear and when she finds out the real reason he came over and made out with her before the party. She cuts him off. From being around her or her baby. To the point, people are getting worried about Garret not eating or sleeping. Overall, still good.

A super easy read, thanks to the skills of the author. There were two couples and some complex issues for them all to work through, and I enjoyed how they all worked towards their HEA. The first in a series and loved it so much, I bought the 2nd in the series as soon as I finished. Enjoyed the big complex family at the heart of the story and the small town that it is set in. Looking forward to reading the rest in the series.

Small Town Scandal by Kay Lyons is a really sweet read. It drops you right in the middle of it so there isn't any unnecessary build up. However, what is presented created a very nice sense of urgency.
I'm the world's biggest cry baby, so I will share that I may have shed a few tears at the end. I can't really describe this book as anything other than sweet. If you're looking for steamy, this isn't it, but this is really romantic in a roundabout way.

I'm not crazy about love triangles, I hadn't got far when I could see where this one was heading, and about 25% in I knew for sure, but it did make for a reasonable way to resolve everything.
Maybe it's an American thing but would a town where everyone knows each other be big enough to have a hospital?
Also, from what I know about essential oils pregnant women should avoid using the directly on their skin, so there's that.
Just an okay read, really not much else happening in it except the love triangle.
