A beautifully photographed instructional book of braiding and hair styles for girls. Complete directions for making your own barrettes and hair ornaments with the materials provided. A best-selling legend.
I knew how to braid regular braids already from a young age, but I learned other braids from this book and practiced on my sister all the time (the little brat would rip them out as soon as I was finished).
As simple as braids are, this has been invaluable throughout my life, lol. We didn't have YouTube growing up in the 90s, and my mom couldn't braid to save her life. This book was so helpful.
I have been braiding for years; bracelets, cords, etc. When I grew out my hair, I braided that, too. I know how to do a basic braid.
This book showed me how to do ropes, herringbone braids, as well as a few braid hairstyles. I haven't really used the ribbons, etc that came with the book; I have enough barrettes, scrunchies and what have you without those.
However, for anyone who doesn't know how to braid, I immediately recommend this book. The step by step instructions are stellar.
Some of the hair accessories ideas are outdated but the haircare and hair styling advice and directions are right on target and easy to follow. Hoping my 11-year-old, who has more than triple the normal amount of hair follicles per square inch on her head as average children will also read it, learn from it and follow some of the examples to make her haircare much less traumatic and less time consuming.
