A Lost Paige was less of a reverse harem and more of just a polyamorous relationship. I'm not opposed to seeing m/m but really this one doesn't read like a RH book.
For the main purpose I actually read the second book, the thing about the hellhound could be seen from the very start but still wanting to know how the whole thing will go down I continued with the book through it's endless sex scenes and constant mine proclamation bordering on ridiculous when they are throwing hands at people just for looking or brushing past the mates. Mates because the whole book's focus was on securing a bond between not just Paige and the guys but between the guys themselves as such the m/m is very strong in this one and that possessiveness reaches a new level.
The book is weak in things that truly matters like Lucifer coming/meeting scenario, dealing with evil witches or alpha fights. Every time something comes up as a opportunity to add content that is not sex related it takes barely any space and even during such action related scenes they are thinking about sex, getting turned or whatever like come on dude. Not to mention how everyone who is not clearly evil is gaga over Paige, chick barely has taken enough initiatives as a queen to warrant the kind of devotion they show.
Thankfully this book doesn't end on a cliffhanger that makes it necessary to continue. The unexpected turn from the RH makes me not want to continue when they end up taking too much attention away from Paige which is whole point of reading a RH.
The following ratings are out of 5: Romance: 🖤💙❤️💜 Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙 World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌍 Character development: 🙂🥰☺️😎 Narrator(s): 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙 Narration type: Dual Narration
The heroine:Paige - she is the new queen of the hidden kingdom supernatural. She is a ghoul and a strong one. She has four mates who will protect her and help her to enact change. The kingdom is hidden from the Council of the supernatural which is a corrupt organization and has a history of killing off any supernaturals that are stronger than them. Paige is the subject of a prophesy which says she is the one that will bring the supernatural world together. Though she will have to fight prejudice within her kingdom as well as outside.
The Heroes:Asher, Nate, Alex, Thorn - Asher was a vampire, Nate a wolf shifter and Alex was a strong mage and Thorn was a ghoul. They are the mates of the new ghoul queen and are sworn to protect her. They are just as attracted to each other as they are to Paige and have recently started to claim each other as well as her.
The Story: Paige is still learning her new role as well as getting to know her mates. She lives in the palace with her mates and her family (her sister, brother-in-law, niece and nephew). This book has a lot of the main characters getting to know each other intimately and getting to know their new station in life.
This book was a lot steamier than the first book and had a lot of the main characters claiming each other and bonding as mates. There was a lot of MMF and MM action in this book, which really differs from many fantasy/paranormal reverse harem books I have read. Though it was definitely hot. I guess I like it more when they focus on the female character a bit more in the bedroom.
This audiobook was told in dual points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Troy Duran and Aletha George. Troy Duran is one of my favorite male narrators. He has a super deep voice and is great at using different voices for different characters. He always does a terrific job. Aletha George has a great voice and is perfect for Paige.
I had high hopes for this one after enjoying the first one so much. It did not disappoint. My broken little heart needed some answers on a few things. I’m beyond elated things worked out but I had a feeling early on when ‘Satan’ himself called Paige he was ironically going to be the answer to my prayers. Sure didn’t expect Ezra to actually be a human, well demon really and more importantly Satans son. So not only did Paige get her beloved Ezra back she also gained another hot AF mate. The steam in this book is off the charts, these guys and Paige take their bing in a RH relationship very seriously. While they are all about the free love with one another, they also don’t shy away from group sex. I mean this girl could have an orgy of her very own every day of her life but ni pressure I’d she’s not in the mood because she can just sit back and watch the guys go at it. HOTT. From the start I was all in and I was loving Paige’s ruthlessness when it came to avenging Ezra. She will literally rip your head off and I just loved how bloodthirsty she was. Not sure what the next book could or will be about but I really don’t care I’ll be reading it regardless. With these characters I really wish there were more than 3 books.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
In book two Paige, her mates, and her loyal subjects must deal with those within the Hidden Kingdom who don’t want things to change, especially when it comes to inter-species and same sex relationships. Plus, Lucifer decides he would like to visit – so Paige has more than a little to deal with.
The second person tone used by Nate at times didn’t work well, and it sometimes felt like it was about him and his mates, rather than Paige and her mates.
Depth and teasing out of events and reactions was needed. Not sure if I’ll be reading book 3.
Can I just say Lucifer is soooooo hot omg, I know he isn’t apart of the harem but god damn🥵
We finally get the final man of the harem and when I found out who I legit squealed🥹 I’m really happy it’s Ezra, me and my friend knew from the beginning he was gonna play a big part in this series😮💨 my god I love him. He’s literally head over heels for Paige just like the rest of them.
The relationships between the guys is amazing, they have all bonded with each other so you know what that means😏🥵 Every single fucking man has had some MM time and lemme tell you it’s the hottest thing on earth.
I know this was only a 141 page book but I wished more had happened 🥺 I love me some drama.
The storyline is still really good and I’m hooked af.
This series is frustrating. It’s labeled as a reverse harem with m/m. Going into the novel, I understand that there are going to be sex scenes with men participating with other men. However, that was basically the sole focus. A reverse harem should be centered around the female. This to me seemed more like a m/m harem tale, with Paige just occasionally thrown in. It felt like there was more talk of Nates mates than there was Paiges mates. While the first book seemed to move, this book lacked substance. I was tempted on putting this book down so many times.
Not really an RH book, but that's the least of the problem. Abysmal writing and I honestly don't have any legitimate excuse for continuing the series. I had nothing better to do.
A Lost Paige brought me some happy tears. I'm not going to lie I loved all the love between her and her little RH. It didn't matter to me if it was F/M or M/M because they were all one unit and family. Honestly, all the feels were going around because no one was weirded out and that's what I support. Love is love guys and it makes the world go round.
The only thing I'm seriously freaking out about is Ezra. Why? Well if you read the first book you know how it ended. Then this book started off right where it ended and it made me all sorts of sad again. THEN to find out something new about him.. Oh lord, I almost died.
Not going to lie, I freaking out for a hot minute or two. I had to stop reading and do some sort of weird breathing exercise because it just couldn't be true. Obviously, it was .. but my brain wasn't comprehending anything.
Other than that, I now know not to trust any book character named Grace. It's just weird that two books in a row had an evil character named Grace.. so that's where I'm going with that. Prove me wrong.
Wow, what great sequel! This picks up right after the first book and we see how the group is dealing with their loss and new bonds. I love that the guys in this also have their own relationships with each other and it's not just about Paige.
There are a lot of steamy scenes in here and I loved them. The plot was furthered a bit as well, we saw what happened to the ones who betrayed Paige and it looks like we may be gearing up for a war. I'm excited to see how this all ends!
Great continuation to the story. While in the book the FMC has lost a lot of her awkwardness it seems, she is still straight word vomit and ADD which is still endearing to me. I feel like we spent a lot of time in the bedroom in this one... and I do mean alot lol. Surprisingly enough, though the story is still moving straight along with or without our characters. Don't worry though we come out of the bedroom for all the action as now our FMC has to set her people to rights.. and there is also Lucifer who comes a calling delivering the most awesome presents lol.
I'm really fired up about this series and can't wait to see what all is in store for our characters as we face our biggest foe yet the council. But first, we have to go recruit some allies. This series does move incredibly fast but I'm in it to win it now!
1 stars. I don’t think I’ll be continuing this series. This book rubbed me the wrong way, badly. I almost got so mad that I stopped reading it altogether. I had to skip scenes because if I didn’t I would have just closed the book.
I don’t mind some MM action here and there. The problem with this book is that it’s obvious the males like each other more than they like the FMC. The way Nate acted with Alex, choosing to save him over their female made me so mad. They all treated Alex like a fragile little girl. This isn’t reverse harem at all, this is completely poly. Except it really isn’t poly either because, while they pair up in the same room, it’s always only 1:1. I just can’t.
Oh Paige the magnificent, how incredible you are. How very awesome and the kindest person ever lived. How better than any other leader that has ever been. All this praise singing gets old very quickly.
She turned another straight guy bi. Is it still RH if all of the five guys are doing it with each other and she feels like just a 5th wheel or the 6th in this case? She really feels like a spare wheel.
I really don't know why I'm still trying to get into this series, it's obviously just not for me. Maybe I just didn't fall in love with the characters? It really should be the kind of thing I would normally love to read.
This book was an excellent next installment in the hidden kingdom trilogy. I loved seeing Paige get closer with her men as well as the addition of yet another. Although, he has really been there all along. I can’t wait to read the last book and see the final battle and how it ends.
Paige Alice & her mates, Asher Evans, Nate Felan, Alex Smith, Thorn Jones
Meh, still not a lot to offer as a series, but it was exactly what I thought I will receive from this series so I can't really rate it lower. It was interesting here and there, I still want more about Alex because really, we get to hear how strong he is but I don't really feel it.
I would understand why a lot of people would be disappointed by this series. It doesn't give a lot when it comes to something other than the sex parts and the fact that they really want to kill any person who is nice to someone from their bubble. I understand possessive men and females, and I like it when characters are protective and shits, but here is kind of too much... Paige wants to kill any female that even looks at her mates and there is a fine line between cute possessive behavior and crazy girl.
But anyway, since I didn't come in this series expecting much from it, I can't say I was disappointed in the end. I am not sure if I will ever read the last book in this trilogy, not because the books were bad in my opinion, but because I kind of got bored of the characters really fast. It never really happened to me before, to get bored of characters THIS FAST, but it happened and I can't change that. Might read book three somewhere in the future just to know that I finished this series or I might not, only time will tell.
I liked that there was a diverse group of paranormals living together in the community. I also liked that the MC is not one of the usual paranormals and she’s fully bonded now. I liked the fact that the MC is purposefully establishing a society for people to choose their own happy/love/path unfettered by others sensibilities. I mostly liked the characters as well.
What I didn’t like
Overwhelming use of possessiveness as a show of affection. So many physical altercations or near physical altercations because of the jealousy and possessiveness. The way the adult activities took precedence over the plot. The reason it took over the plot was because the authors were determined to have everyone in the main group be with everyone else and it just felt like overkill. That this book was very predictable. The only thing that truly surprised me was Alma. That there wasn’t more development of the plot, characters or world building.
Long story short
I wanted more of the story not the orgy. The romantic relationships and sexy times should be a bonus on top of a phenomenal story, but shouldn’t eclipse the story.
I used to think the multiple POVs was essential to really knowing what the character was thinking. This book has changed all of that for me. I can't count the number of times I stopped and said, "Wait, who is this again?"
SOOOO many characters, its too much. You have Paige then her 4 and now a new one- saw that coming from the 1st book- and now she is queen and making friends with every underdog and their family, and her family is there, then the shifters... man its too much.
But is it a 10 in scorch, so yeah, lots of smut. And its really hard to believe that these hot men are all into each other all of a sudden just because she is there "bonding" them together. Even ones who never were into guys previously.
Yeah- its a stretch to believe all this even if it is fiction. Even I have my limits!
I really enjoyed this book. Paige is so funny and adorable and all her men are unique in their own ways. I predicted the big reveal near the end but it was still so fun to read.
Definitely would recommend this if you’re in the mood for a paranormal reverse harem that reads quick. The only thing I would say is I would hesitate to call this a reverse harem because while Paige is kind of the centre of everyone, they’re all bonded together so it’s more like a poly relationship between 6 people so if you’re into RH where the men only interact with the women, I would skip this one but I LOVED it.
This was mostly just a whole lot of random plot with some good old smut scenes sprinkled in. To be fair I don't usually go into these for the plot, so I'm not disappointed, but it was just a quick, steamy read without much else to add.
I liked the 'twist' at the end, even though she has more sausages than she can count at this point, but I mean, who's complaining?
I never intended to finish this trilogy after book one, but considering it's on Kindle Unlimited and I have it for a month, I'm going to finish it off and hope I don't regret it.
Paige's story continues in this second book. Great second installment.
Here's a quick list of the inner circle of characters...
Paige - ghoul queen Asher - vampire Alex - mage Nate - wolf Ezra - hellhound
This book has a trap that causes two if the inner circle to land in hell, a showdown with a witch, a visit with Lucifer and his entourage, and a heartfelt reunion including one they thought was lost forever.
So I downloaded this after reading the sample and I was so freaking excited. She was something unique and funny and strong. The characters are engaging and draw you in so you want to read more.......HOWEVER this is not a reverse harem with a touch of m/m scenes. The majority of the sex in this book does not involve the female at all. If she is involved it's as a voyeur or an after thought. I don't mind some sword crossing if there are extra males and usually only one or two that have a different connection but I still like it to be all about her. This is really never about her. It's more like she is a matchmaker that brings them all together so they can be together. It's not a bad story love story as long as you know it's a male quad love story and I will read the next one to see what happens but I probably wouldn't have started if I had known and now I'm skipping through large portions just to get to the "not sex" parts because I happen to own a vagina and my visualizing fantasies kind of have to include the use of one......
I prefered stopping reading this book as the story went more and more uninteresting. Paige was supposed to be a queen and bring change but it felt like she was more focused on constantly proclaiming the guys as her, f*cking, and teasing them than reigning. So the storyline was slow, stuck to claiming, mating, and f*cking...boring in the long run😴 It didn't make sense that Nate became suddenly bisexual and began to f*ck and claim the other guys🧐🙄 There was no reason for this and it was never mentioned he had any interest in guys. It was the less likely one to do this as he was the classic grumpy dominant male shifter of the group. But well, no harm here, it just didn't make sense😕 In my opinion, this book isn't a RH. Paige wasn't at the center of the RH. It's more a polyamorous romance. I have nothing against it but I wanted to read a RH story!
I really enjoyed the first book, but this second one felt like it was more about Nate and his mates. I hard a time time with his character as he had such an issue with being mates to Paige but then had no problem claiming all the men before Paige. I don't mind the M/M but I just thought this book had way too much.
I do love the story line with Ezra. I feel like Paige has an amazing connection with him and I hope in the last book he doesn't' treat her like a secondary character like Alex and Nate do and they keep that strong connection.
I'm really loving this series! I'm sad it's only a trilogy. But I'm guessing the best is yet to come! A roller coaster of emotions, thrilling moments, sexy moments, frightening outcomes, magical experiences and so much more make this book what it is! Excellent plot and storyline and beautiful character development! It's magic rolled right into the pages!
