sweet Halloween novella featuring Oigr who we have met previously. Here he’s gets his chance at love after giving up so much to raise his orphaned charge Nazzek. Oigr and The Lady’s Fortunes crew are visiting earth for an extended vacation this is where he meets Deena a human female and witch also looking for love. Starting a courtship the two begin to bond and Deena finds herself equally intrigued with the calm Kind male despite his large appearance and differences. But before they can cement their bonds Oigr’s past comes back to plague him and he will have to make an important choice so he and Deena can have their HEA together. This is a very sweet love story and it was a cute addition to the series. I especially loved catching up with the crew of Lady’s Fortune it also has an endearing epilogue.

I didn’t really feel super invested in either of these main characters. Like, I got that Deena was witchy, nearing her 40s, and wanting love and the Oigr was lonely and resigned to being alone forever, but we barely got to know them as a couple. It still had its cute moments tho.

Loved it
Awesome quick read. Loved finding out more about the Father by choice, that sacrificed much to raise his “son”.
Perfect mate for him. Wished we had a few more scenes of the funny cultural differences of earth and other planets.
As well as his mates extra sensory. Think she should have reading for his sister.

Halloween novella!! Sweet and awkwardly formal hero! Confident and kind heroine who practices some cool witchcraft and COOKS.
But the story spent so much time on the home world conflict and other stuff, we didn’t get a lot of page time with the couple. Still a creative and intriguing read.

I enjoyed the story and was happy to see Nazzek and his crew again!
Deena was an almost 40 year old witch that was looking for someone to love. She was too old to be accepted by the Mate Index so she hoped to find her match with the help of a spell. She didn't expect her prospective mate to be so huge and scary looking, but his calm demeanor and gentlemanly ways quickly made her feel at ease with him.
Oigr was an older male, we don't really know how old, but he was an adult, before he adopted little Nazzek and it was 25 years since then, so I think he could be around 50. The Earth vacation Nazzek and Nikki planned, before she gave birth to their first youngling was a good opportunity for Oigr to meet someone, but he thought he was too old to find someone who would truly want him as a mate. He would love to have someone to cherish, but he didn't expect to meet a female that would match the song of his soul, especially when the females on Earth were scared whenever they saw him. Then on an outing he smelled something delicious and followed his nose to Deena. He found her intriguing and beautiful from the start, and the fact that she shared her meal with him made him hopeful that she wished for his courtship. The lack of knowledge of their cultures customs was funny, Oigr's formality and stiffness so cute, and his love for food adorable. I loved when he thought about performing for Deena his kind's warrior cries, and I was so disappointed that he didn't have the opportunity, she would have pissed herself and it would be hilarious ;)
The action was good, but the whole kidnapping, solving the murder and retrieval took our opportunity to have more sweet couple moments with Oigr and Deena. They were cute together and I'd love if their story was a bit longer. I didn't expect to like the mix of paranormal and sci-fi so much, but it was great. The meeting of different kinds of magic from far away worlds was very interesting.

Wonderful short read💖
I love the crew of the Lady's Fortune they never fail to make me laugh a nd smile💖 Oigr is form Vori a deserving that is often harsh and unforgiving he is the sane older male of the crew who would love to find a mate but feels it might not be in the cars for him. The whole crew is taking a vacation to Earth around the Halloween season . This is when Oigr meets the lovely Strega (Italian word for witch) Deena. On his explorations of the city of Oregon he ends up in the shop she works at. She give him a very accurate card reading and lunch. There is a connection that snaps into place right away and continues to grow with in a Fiona end word between they. Until something from Oigr 's past comes back to haunt him. He just find his way and save his mate and cement the bonds of love between them. A very satisfying novella! I do so enjoy this series. Humor, a dash of danger lots of passion and a forever kind of love! What's not to like💖💖💖💖

Sweet older alien gets his mate and changes the world
This sweet Halloween tale illuminates a joining of an older alien and a 40 year old woman- well ‘past her prime’ and unable to be on the Mate Index. The lead male is refreshingly genuine and adorable you just want to hug him. The lead female is a witch, and the species have mystical powers - which are described well and not in a creepy way. The backbone of the story is the gentle love building, but the drama (which includes a kidnapping, murder, and exile) intensifies until one world is changed forever! This is a shout out to older mates and the equality of women, (thankfully) without having a heavy feminist bent. Enjoyable.

I liked this story a lot although the imagery on the front definitely is not helping get in the mood of the story imo
I always enjoy reading older women fmc romances since it seems to be in a minority in every genre. I also appreciated the theme being more prevalent in this story (Halloween) and I liked how the author connected the alien MMC culture to Halloween lol
I wasn't a huge fan of the witch but I guess it wiuld make sense that there are spiritual cultures within multiple galaxies. Although the soul flame thing caught me off guard but I guess it makes sense given the mate biting and everything else in the other books.

I finally had the time to read this sweet novella last night. It drew me right in and I loved how it involved previous characters. (Highly recommend you read this series to get the most out of this book.) I really liked how SJ Sanders crafted Deena as the perfect match for Oigr. The best thing about A Mate for Oigr is the age of Oigr and Deena. Deena is about to turn 40 and Oigr mentions he's an older male. Yay for over-forty romance! This was a sweet story with some twists and suspenseful action near the end. A super addition to the Mate Index Series! 4 stars!

Oigr was a great match for his mate, and even though it was short, it hit all the right notes for a quick, satisfying read. Sometimes you just need a story that gives you romance, spice, and a happy ending without any extra fluff — and this one delivered exactly that!

This is a short story with an alien who has given up everything expecting nothing in return. A female earthling who has almost given up on finding that special someone because she's getting to old. An evil cousin. An alien witch. My favorite part of this story is the alien witch, and the way Oigr feels about human Halloween. The does have an HEA and has everything expected of a SFR.

A Mate for Oigr
Oh my, I just loved Deena and Oigr’s story. Well thought out and engaging characters. I loved the use of magic, witches spells and the connection with the Vrol people for Halloween. Wonderful book and I can't wait for the next. I would recommend this book and this series.

A great addition
Each new addition to the mate index series gets better. Only one word usage error, insight instead of ignite and tye writing is much smoother than the first book. The characters were lovable and relatable.

Unexpected
The book is a reminder that not only young females need love. Life does not end at 30 years. The story was sweet with fast passed action. The sex enhanced the story and did not over ride the story line.

Unexpected Treat
I almost forgot about Nazzek and his crew. I was nice to revisit them and see another find happiness. Oigr being older and in Exile you couldn't imagine him having to travel home, but he did. Magic flew and Nazzek's crew grew by 2. his baby girl and Deena.

Hauntingly sweet
