A collection of seven stories from seven different authors, all taking place on Ludus. Ludus is a dangerous fantasy world from the series Delvers LLC and Nora Hazard. Surviving Ludus can be enjoyed by fans of Delvers LLC, or any readers who enjoy sword and sorcery fantasy, dungeon exploration, survival, portal fantasy, magic-on-monster violence, or touching moments of love and honor. *** Blaise Corvin - "Missing in Action" A story about redemption, family, and loyalty. This story will directly tie into the Delvers LLC storyline, and contains a major reveal for a Delvers LLC main character. Bastian Knight - "Friends and Enemies" With a little bit of luck, could an ordinary guy survive on Ludus? What if he meets the wrong sort of people? Then again, what if he meets real friends? Raymond Johnson - "A Guiding Hand" Everything Peacehatchet ever cared about has been ripped from him. Does an ork have a soul? Jon Svenson - "Beyond the Village Borders" Poor villagers can become adventurers too. Some people on Ludus fall into this lifestyle, but some search for it. Cory Gaffner - "Enemy Mine" When a World War II American soldier and a German soldier are transported to Ludus at the same time, will they be able to repay a debt, or kill each other first? Daylan Ethridge - "Just Another Life on Ludus" During an attack on Mensk by demons and cultists, many will lose their lives, but some will step up to become heroes. Will an orphan girl defending younger children be a victim, or a shield for the helpless? Austin Eberle - "Engineering Ludus" A wide variety of people have been transported to Ludus over the last thousand years. Will an engineering student have any advantage? Is it possible to thrive on Ludus through using brains, not brawn?
Blaise Corvin served in the US Army in several roles. He has seen the best and the worst that humanity has to offer. He is a sucker for any hobby involving weapons, art, or improv.
He currently lives in Texas, in a house full of enough geeky memorabilia to start a museum.
He likes talking about himself in 3rd person and posting pictures of himself holding tarantulas. Sometimes, he pretends he is not an idiot with a terrible sense of humor.
It's all very eccentric.
Blaise currently writes mostly in the GameLit genre and LitRPG subgenre, exciting new classifications of fiction where characters either play a game (usually VR), or live in a world with game-like elements.
Delvers LLC is GameLit, lightly LitRPG, mostly a Fantasy/SciFi Adventure. Secret of the Old Ones is hard LitRPG, complete with XP and leveling...plus has Lovecraftian and steampunk elements (because why not?).
If you are a fan of Delvers LLC this is a fun addition to the universe. The short story by Blaise has a shocking revelation that makes me wish the 4th book would get here faster. The rest of the stories give us snippets of life on Ludus and extend and add depth to the story we already know. As there are a lot of spoilers, I wouldn't recommend this to folks who haven't read both Delvers and Nora novels.
I’m not normally a fan of anthologies, but this is the third of three GameLit anthologies I have read recently, and all have been good. What is so fun about Surviving Ludus is that Blaise Corvin has set up such a wonderful world for authors to play in, intricate world building that culminates in a fun combination of stories that expand the universe...
Everything you’d want from an anthology. There is a Blaise Corvin original in this, and all the stories were fun and well curated to create a good first anthology. I hope to see some other shorts (or if allowed) maybe a novella or two from some of those stories.
I'm not a big fan of short stories or anthologies. This one worked well. The authors other than BC are readers of his work. I enjoyed reading about the world of Delvers LLC from their points of view. Their characters said a lot about what the authors found there. Mainly a whole lot of fighting and brutality for treasure, orbs, or other reasons. Most of the stories were engaging and a couple made me think.I was glad to get to see this world again. I hope book 4 gets here soon. Score: 8.6 out of 10
This was an interesting anthology. It consisted of stories from several authors (as you might expect from an anthology) writing in Blaise Corbin's Artifice Universe about Ludus. One of the stories even spawned a new book (possibly a series?): Engineering Ludus.
The stories were of varying quality, but at the very least, you need to read Blaise's story before reading Delvers LLC 4, Golden Handcuffs, as it contains a big reveal.
Blaise Corvin and his motley crew bring us assorted short stories set in Blaise's Ludus Universe. A fitting addition to the series, enjoyed all the stories, which for an anthology of new authors was a pleasant surprise. Should have known anything Blaise and company is doing will be done right!
If you are a fan of Delvars, you will find this an interesting anthology that fills in more of the World of Ludus. Well edited by Corvin, the stories, even though done by various authors, are consistent to the Ludas view. One of the better of these types of anthologies I've read.
I really liked this anthology. All the stories had their own special elements that really added depth to the world. I really hope to see these characters more in the world, whether written by Blaise or by the authors of the short stories themselves. Highly recommended!
I originally read these chapters in my patreon feed as a supporter. I had to check out the final product. I think the other writers really captured the essence of Ludus. I look forward to the last story tie in with the main Delvers story arc.
A bunch of short stories set in the Deavors LLC universe, By a Hand-full of different authors, that have been given at least semi-canon status by the series originator. Fun!
I enjoyed this book. It's interesting seeing what's happening in other parts of the world outside of the main characters. I liked the introduction of a key character and look forward to the next book to see the interaction.
To be honest I was somewhat skeptical of this endeavor. I am delightfully surprised to be wrong, and when I have time in my reading schedule I fully intend to check out these others authors.
The world of ludus is amazing. I can’t wait for the next book in the Delvers universe. Blaise and all the other authors do a really great job expanding on the lore of the world.
I really liked this book and the short stories giving us insight into the lives on Ludus. Each author had a slight spin on the writing and all the stories were interesting and leaving you wanting more.
I really enjoyed this book, it was a great way to introduce characters, and tie stories together. I recommend it, and eagerly await the next Delvers book!
This is a wonderful collection of short stories by several authors. I wish every author of this collections life filled with good stories and the money to be able to write them.
Only of interest as filler that rounds out the world of Ludus. If you, like me, can't wait for the next novel set on this world, then you can get a watered-down fix here.
I was already hooked on Ludus stories but to get so many new ones was a real treat. Each new character is interesting...I want to read more about them all.
