A vulnerable widow down on her luck. A narcissistic millionaire with all the right resources. Will steamy tension lead to unlikely love?
Harlow Hart didn’t think life could get any worse. After risking a return to dating and getting catfished in Asia, she winds up broke and on the first flight out. Surprised by the airline’s sexy CEO offer to help her, she refuses to fall for his charming tricks.
Laiken Cash takes exactly what he desires. Irritated that his potential conquest is ungrateful for the assistance, he disciplines her by making her work off her debt as his PA. But when her fiery disdain swells, so does Cash’s desire to rip off her clothes.
Harlow has never been with a man who can navigate a woman’s body quite like Cash, and his expertise is increasingly difficult to refuse. But a past tragedy closed off Cash’s heart and he struggles to open up to the woman driving him wild.
Will Harlow and Cash stop butting heads long enough to give into their deepest temptations?

Dee Palmer lives just outside of London with her husband and (slightly embarrassed) children. Her passion is writing sexy steamy romance stories that will scorch the pages right off your kindle and are guaranteed to make your heart pound. She loves an HEA but isn't afraid to put her readers through the ringer before she delivers.
When not at her desk she can be found either fannying around on Facebook or with her nose stuck in her Kindle. Once in a while when the lights are down she might be spotted about town searching for the best French martinis and throwing some dubious shapes on the dance floor.
I absolutely loved this book, it made me laugh and made me cry and I couldn’t read fast enough and then I was sorry it had ended. Cash may have been an A (Amazon won’t post my review if I use the word) but he has a heart of gold and Harlow couldn’t have been luckier than to have been on his plane. Both of them have had terrible tragedies in their lives and maybe that is what unconsciously brought them together, and how fabulous were they even though it took them a long time to get there, they are the perfect couple and the ending was perfect as well.
It's been said that we tend to latch on to our first Impressions of people and although we may see otherwise its sometimes hard to change our opinions. With that being said, Harlow and Cash are a great example of that. Their enemies to lovers story is a slow burn and you just feel the instant attraction and it was fun to see how they slowly realized that what they felt for each other was something orher than dislike. I enjoy Dee Palmer's heroines, they're vulnerable yet strong when they need to be and who doesn't love to read about a hot, moody alpha. Well done!
I! Loved! This! Book! It is a “must read”! The only problem I had with it is that I wanted more!! I was a little thrown by the way they met (very innovative-I am a retired flight attendant, btw) and Harlow’s combativeness. But the story shapes up very nicely!
I fell in love with Harlow and Cash from page one. Their hate/ love interest had me chuckling at the absurdity of their responses to each other. Their law of attraction is truly opposites attract. They each have apprehensions about finding love. I thoroughly enjoyed this book!!
Well I went into this book with eyes wide open and was pleasantly surprised with the story. First Impressions by Dee Palmer is the first book that I have read by this author and it was well written with drama and a slow burn, enemy to lover romance that was endearing. In so many books authors shy away from calling out the female characters for their outlandish or brattish behavior and I am not for name calling, but I couldn’t help but fall a little bit more in love with Cash when he would tell Harlow how she was truly behaving. Cash is a dirty talking, gorgeous billionaire with a taste for kink but if you are expecting to jump into the BDSM you will have to wait. Cash talks the talk but unfortunately it is not until towards the end of the book that Ms. Palmer finally breaks the sexual tension between Cash and Harlow, even though they have visited a sex club together. I read First Impressions in one day and couldn’t put it down! 5-stars for this great book by Dee Palmer
Harlow Hart has now experienced the biggest embarrassment of her life, she’s been catfished. Somehow, she has managed to get enough funds to find the first flight out of Hanoi and back to the States, only to upset and annoy every passenger on the fifteen-hour long flight. Being taken into the company of the airline’s CEOs private quarters Harlow doesn’t want to admit she needs help even though she does. Her pride won’t let her show that deep down she is ashamed and humiliated and the slightly unkempt, yet gorgeous CEO is not the nicest person for her to confide in. Cash didn’t see it as being helpful but after helping Harlow on the flight and then seeing her freezing on the NY sidewalk he couldn’t leave her to just find her own way. The stubborn woman refuses to just take his help as a generous gift and demands to pay him and agrees to work for him to settle her debt. Harlow is attracted to Cash, but her heart just can’t take another beating and Cash doesn’t do relationships. Neither Harlow nor Cash made a very good First Impression on the other, yet some how they can’t fight the growing attraction and, in the end, only one of them is in real danger of getting hurt.
There’s more than a little animosity between Cash and Harlow in the opening pages of First Impressions by Dee Palmer, which took me somewhat by surprise. With past experience and a nasty encounter colouring Harlow’s view of rich men she is determined not to fall for his charm and comes across as more than ungrateful for his help. Maybe its just Cash who rubs her up the wrong way by waving his wealth in her face, but sweeping assumptions and first impressions at the start of their story make for one witty tale, full of hilarious banter and scorching chemistry.
I don’t really need to talk about the plot as the synopsis tells you most of what you need to know about the bones of the story. What it doesn’t tell you is how Cash and Harlow are made for each other, despite their apparent differences. Harlow, having lost everything in a recent tragedy, fell pray to an unscrupulous villain of a man, who took advantage of her vulnerability and rather sweet and naïve nature. Cash is a far more confident character overall. However, he harbours his own secrets and feelings of guilt from his youth, which have in the past prevented him from indulging in nothing more than passing encounters. They’re both a little lonely, broken and raw and Cash is certainly not prepared for Harlow and how she turns his world upside down, how she makes him feel. The push and pull of their relationship was great, his stubbornness and her feistiness make for some very interesting situations. However, the thing I loved the most was how little by little they changed, opening their hearts and minds and, without realising it, fulfilling each other’s needs as well as their own.
First Impressions is quite simply a gorgeous love story. A slow burn, witty, enemies to lovers romance, with lots of emphasis on the emotional and not merely the physical side of their relationship. However, there’s plenty of passionate, smouldering looks and lusty thoughts between them and when they finally give in to their desires, those moments are wonderfully hot and steamy and well worth the wait.
If I lay here If I just lay here Would you lie with me and just forget the world?
I don't quite know How to say How I feel…” SNOW PATROL - Chasing Cars lyrics
Harlow and Cash will pull you along on their slow-sizzle ride of a romance from page one. Both beings have hearts of gold but are so lonely and wanting to be loved. So much so that for Harlow, she drops everything to be with a man she made plans with on social media. And it ends with her openly brokenhearted on a plane where she is given the reprieve she so desperately needs from a sinfully gorgeous stranger, who immediately has her back up. For Cash, this little bundle of woman who seems to spit fire just at him and for him somehow makes him care, something he is suspicious of and takes measures to blockade his heart from. One month is all Cash thought he wanted for Harlow to work as his PA to pay back the generosity he had shown her, but as time passes, he realizes he was only kidding himself. For everything he has does not include Harlow…and it was time she knew it. Harlow may be naive in some ways, but she is really tough when it comes to proving and being herself. There is a lot more to this story which will keep the pace clipping. I loved these two characters together, and I could also see this being made as a movie!
This new book from Dee Palmer, is a enemies to lovers ...slow burn romance.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, it is a little different from what you would normally expect from this author. Ms Palmer usually writes novels with a heavy dose of erotica, which she does splendidly, I might add. First Impressions is a refreshing story from this author, which shows what a diverse a writer she really is. It centres more around the levels of the relationship that build between the characters, without over done sexual encounters, slowly revealing each other’s heartaches, desires and fears.
Harlow is a broken woman, in her current situation she has little more than the clothes on her back. Cash, her Knight in shining armour, lends a helping hand ...at a cost. She must work her debt off, by working for him, as his PA. Right from the off, there is a undeniable chemistry between Harlow and Cash, but there is also animosity in abundance. On “first impressions” Cash is everything Harlow despises, and Harlow come across ungrateful, stubborn and harsh towards Cash. But as you can imagine, there is so much more to these two characters to be discovered. I loved the characters, Harlow is a true romantic, as Cash totally steers clear of the word love and every it involves!
A slow burn, of a love/hate relationship builds between them, with some pretty hilarious humour, I’ve got to say. Had me laughing out loud numerous times. I found I couldn’t put this book down, I was so eager to read what was next for this couple. When we do reach the love scenes, they are, as you would expect, hot and steamy, but written with a more romantic and emotional approach, which was perfect for this couple and this book.
First Impressions by Dee Palmer is the story of Laiken Cash and Harlow Hart. Harlow hasn't had it easy in life. Harlow lost her husband and when she thought to start again in the dating world she had fallen for a scam. Then she meets Laiken who comes in to save the day but not trusting as she had been she is cautious of him. Laiken ends up making her pay him back by being his Personal Assistant. Where both have sparks going back and forth toward each other they also have attitude that they can't seem to get past at first. I really enjoyed their story and hope to read more from this author soon.
First impressions is a standalone contemporary romance novel. The main characters are Laiken Cash and Harlow Hart. This is a enemies to lovers story.
Dee has out done herself with this story, it was fabulous and I fairly enjoyed reading it. May there be more like this to come.
Harlow ends up getting catfished in Asia, leaving everything behind except the clothes on her back and a little money, she gets the first flight out of there. The airlines CEO tries to help Harlow as much as he can but they are both quite distained by each other. Having no family, no money Harlow has to accept the help from the sexy CEO as she finds herself in a country with no one and it's during winter.
Harlow doesn't want anything for free so she starts a tab with Cash and as a way to pay it off Cash makes her his PA. They are always butting heads with each other but the chemistry between them is intense.
I love every book Dee Palmer has written. I say it every time, I fell in love with the main character and he's my favorite so far. Forget what I said, Cash is my favorite! The banter between these two, Cash and Harlow, is hilarious! The animosity, the name calling, the slow building of their relationship. I didn't want the story to end, but couldn't stop reading. I know it's a stand alone, but I'd read more about this couple! Congratulations, Dee, another fantastic book!
What a fantastic standalone book! It kept me reading from start to finish! The characters were so “real” it was unbelievable! Thanks Dee for the humungous bags under my eyes from lack of sleep lol, only kidding, what a fantastic read! I hate spoilers so I will only say this, after being catfished in Asia, the heroine finds herself on board a plane for the first place she could find to feel “safe”, gets moved as she is such a distraction and nuisance to the other passengers, she meets our hero and bang, the chemistry starts! Absolutely stunning the way Ms Palmer builds the relationship, totally wish I could start it again! Brilliant!
Fabulous story, I couldn’t put this book down! A must read. I love the banter. I love Cash, sigh. In my mind, this author keeps getting better and better with every book.
Harlow and Cash are two broken souls. Their 1st meeting is one of absolute hatred! Harlow has lost everything in her lifetime. Her parents and husband are dead and now she’s by herself in the world. Harlow thinks she finds a new romance in her life but that turns disastrous. Everything is lost again but her self-respect. Cash is wealthy and carries a lot of guilt on his shoulders in regards to his only sister, Freya. Business is Cash’s life. Women come and go but there is no one and no relationship needed. There is only one friend, close as a brother, Devon. Devon is the only one who is trusted with Cash’s personal life. Then in trots Colin who makes life fun and happy for Harlow and Cash…but does he?
Dee Palmer has taken a romance and turned it into a very humorous story. Dee’s ways of storytelling are to be appreciated in her humor and mystery. Another best seller for a treasured author, Dee Palmer.
So, First Impressions is a little slow to start but it picks up about a third way in. A widower, Harlow Hart decides that she is going to give online dating a chance gets catfished in Asia and finds herself alone on a plane heading to NYC with no money, clothes or place to stay. She is making such a fuss an airline personal was able to change her seat to first class where she meets the person responsible for the charges, CEO Laiken Cash. There are a few surprises but overall it was another billionaire story.
I could tell after reading the first few pages that this book was going to be a five star read! Heartwarming. Heartbreaking. Hilarious. Slow burn. Lots of sexual tension. They say first impressions are important when meeting a person but that isn't always true. When Cash meets Harlow he isn't quite sure how to handle her smart mouth. Both seem to be pushing each others buttons. Harlow and Cash have both suffered personal tragedies in their life. Two lost and lonely people living somewhat in the past. First Impressions is a superb read!! Romcom. I strongly recommend!
my favourite author ms Palmer I absolutely devoured this in one night just couldn’t put it down I had to know the ending.Harlow is my all favourite Brit she’s an emotional wreck at the beginning, but my she’s got a potty mouth which I loved she’s a true Brit and so funny with everything that’s happened to her she’s still feisty takes no shit attitude, and she’s hilarious she made me laugh and cry. Cash what a hero loved him from the get go. I didn’t want this book to end I throughly enjoyed it and I will read it again and again I loved it thank you.
Omg from the first page I was hooked on this book....Harlow and Cash are hilarious together....the story is funny, bittersweet and sad at times.
Dee has brought to life these two amazing characters with such chemistry it's unbelievable....Harlow is very feisty from the getgo and Cash doesn't know how to handle that.
Loved the book from beginning to end and would love to read more about these two.
Received as a gift from the author through her fan page, this was a wonderful book. The characters were realistic and full of emotion, the story line kept me interested and turning pages. I'm a big fan of this author, and have been for years.
Pretty Woman meets when Harry met Sally.... the hilarious banter from this light hearted Rom-Com t will have you laughing out loud!!
From the get go this was just hilarious; I just love the British sense of humour, sarcastic come backs and tongue in cheek dialect. Cash and Harlow were made for each other. Harlow was no push over despite being down on her luck and caught is what can only be described as an impossible situation. Most of us would have crumbled, not Harlow, she gave Cash a run for his money and by God! He had loads....
Another sexy alpha male to swoon over; however this isn't all plain sailing for either of them. There are also secrets that will leave you feeling emotional before they get to fly off into the sunset together!
Harlow is devastated when her first relationship since the death of her husband has left her destitute and with few options. All she wants is to get home but having to work for the CEO of the airline as his PA for the next month could either be the best thing to happen to her or the worst.
Cash is intrigued by the feisty yet exasperating woman who is making things difficult for everyone around her. He offers to help so that others around her are not inconvenienced by her behavior but instead of accepting a gift he now finds himself with a new employee. Let the battle begin!
Harlow is at one of the lowest points in her life as she is angry at everyone but especially at herself. Cash has a painful past of his own but there is something about Harlow that draws him in. Neither are looking for a relationship but sometimes the best things in life happen when you least expect it.
This author, is a fairly new author to me, but this was a great read, and I am definitely interested, and reading more of their books. This was well written, the characters have great chemistry, and I was intrigued the whole way throuhg. This was steamy, passionate, dramatic, emotional, and intense.
Harlow is having the worst day/flight of her life. She's been crying her way through the flight when the airline attendant upgrades her to first class where there's only one occupant. A very hot, very arrogant occupant who immediately makes Harlow's hackles rise (in more ways than one). And he wants Harlow to accept his gracious upgrade in thoroughly naughty ways.
As she works for him, the more she can't keep her attraction for the maddening man at bay. Their verbal back and forth, quite frankly, is so freaking entertaining that it really made the story for me. But any feelings she might be developing for him may not be welcome because Laiken has some serious demons to work out if his heart is to be open for business again. He just might not just work them out on her body, though, but on her poor heart, too, her heart that really cannot take any more pain.
Enemies to lovers is my favorite trope and no one does it quite as well as Dee Palmer. One of my favorite series, ever, is written by her, The Choices Trilogy: Plus New Novella 1.5 Box Set, and it's on my favorites list because of the same reasons I love this one - angsty, seriously sexy, and the push and pull between the two is absolutely delicious. So if you like enemies to lovers like I do, I highly recommend you download this one, you will not regret it!

Just finished reading First Impressions. Dee has a winner with this book. It is listed as a rom/com and I must admit it lives up to its name. Harlow is a wonderful character who is naive and easily fooled and Cash is my kind of male character, hard and standoffish on the outside and a completely wonderful man when Harlow breaks thru his walls. These two characters have been written an awesome story that is quick, sarcastic, and funny. There are highs and lows and the lows hurt you when you read them. You will laugh and in some cases cry along with them both. I don't want to ruin this story by giving too much away. I truly loved this book and hated that it ended. I will read and re read it many times. I do this with all of Dee's works. That is how she develops her characters and sub characters. In this case Scarlet, Harlow's cousin and Devan, Cash's best friend and "brother". I received this book as an ARC in exchange for a true and factual review. Honestly, I will be buying this book when it is released and adding it to my favorites. In fact, I will be reading it again probably next week. Give it a read, I promise you won't be disappointed. I couldn't put it down and can't wait to pick it up and read it again. I gave it 5 stars and believe me, this book is worth every one of them.
"Someone like him" - 4.5 stars. This story is about the first impressions Harlow and Cash have of each other when they meet by chance. Both have been through a lot and find it difficult to work out their developing feelings for each other. The author slowly reveals the reasons why they act and react to certain situations. The protagonist Cash is really interesting and who doesn't like a nice dominating handsome man with a bit of spark. He might be arrogant but there is a softer side to him that comes through every now and then, especially when he tries to offer Harlow his help. Harlow is a feisty but stubborn lady with a big heart. Her conversations with Cash are very entertaining as she is a little naive at times and he enjoys playing on this. The author slowly reveals the reasons why they react to certain situations and his reason is one of the major twists in the story. Absolutely loved Colin, he certainly brings a fun and cute element to the story. The epilogue ties up the loose ends both in a lovely but funny way. I hope Devan gets a book of his own as I really liked his character, it would be interesting to find out more about him and his relationship with Cash as they grew up. This is an enjoyable read with interesting but complex characters who regale us with a lovely story.
Don't judge a book by its cover in this story about first impressions.
When Harlow and Cash end up in first class together, both make snap judgements about the other and allow these to cloud the perceptions of the other.
As Harlow ends up in America with nothing, Cash starts to show his true colours by taking her in and providing what she needs. Harlow is a little stubborn and shows a reluctance to accept his help after being let down by a man already.
This was a fun, quirky and fabulous read. It wasn't insta-love with these characters but a slow burner which was all the more fun to read. I loved how this story unfolded and showed how everyone can make a difference in the world no matter how much they have or don't have. Be prepared to change your opinion on these characters after making your first snap judgements.
