since it's a novella, i love how Penny Wylder went straight to the point. it's well developed and both characters were likeable. Katti has been in love with her dad's best friend, Bryce, for many years. what happens when Bryce turns out to be the man Katti picked from her dating app?

This book was so much better than I expected! Well written and developed characters, with some over the charts chemistry (really, so hot!!), some drama and some back and forth... A pretty good and sweet story.
I told them that you had reached in and wrapped yourself around my heart and that you hadn’t let go.
Was the coincidence in the beginning crazy and unbelievable? Yes. Do I care? No. Would I recommend it? If you like a sweet and HOT age gap story with a pinch of angst and a bit of kink, then yes!

So, yes, hunnies, this is one of those forbidden/taboo reads. With hella sexy smutty smut.
The smutty smut was on a different level, too, because it was combiner with their feelings for each other. That connection between Katti and Bryce? So real!!
Other than their physical connection, this was a pretty romantic read. And the epilogue was so cute — I really loved it.

I love older men/younger women's stories, and so I was so excited to read this book. Forbidden love with daddy's best friend HELLO, of course, I will read this one. At first, I was all for this book, and getting into it. The sex scenes were hot and very descriptive.
But when the story actually started going, I got a little confused. Katti is an older (like 25ish) who doesn't live at home, heck she lives cities away from her family. Bryce doesn't live by her father, either. So I was a little confused about what the problem is. Yes, I am sure daddy would be mad, but seriously, everyone is above 18, and no one lives at home. Kitti even owns her own business. So I just thought the main story and the "problems" that kept coming up were just plain stupid.

Normally older guys aren't really my thing and with older I mean like 20 to 30 years older, that doesn't mean I didn't have a celebrity crush. But to take it to another level is something I didn't really think about. That doesn't take away that I enjoy to read about it!
In this one we get to see how gone away Katti is with Bryce and how she longed for him for so many years. When we get to see that come together it makes my heart very happy! Those are the things I love to read about and to get to experience with reading! Didn't you ever wanted something so so bad that it made your heart hurt that you thought it was never in your cards? When you finally are able to achieve the thing or person you wanted it's just so magical!
What we all know and expect from Penny Wylder is dirty hot books that make you feel like you have a heatstroke in the winter. This one definitely wasn't different, it hit all the right places!

I typically spare the Penny Wylder reviews because I know what I’m getting into. A light, zero-mental-effort read with a mostly eye rolling plot line. We can’t all expect romance authors to be Sylvain Reynard writing his Gabriel novels or Linda Howard’s brilliance.
But I digress.
This plot was ridiculous x10. I couldn’t get past the fourth chapter and pushed to get to the fourth chapter. Bryce is wealthy, educated, smoking hot and successful. So what does this urbane silver-fox do? He wants to hook up with our heroine on a dating app that has ZERO pictures to encourage looking beyond the physical. The heroine literally says she’s just looking to f**k, no strings attached. And Bryce, who looks like a supermodel, is clearly going to rely on a faceless profile as his only option. Insert eye roll. Nobody hooks up with a person they’ve never seen! Our world has a very high ratio of plain/just okay/ugly individuals compared to the hot/supermodel individuals.
Add in the stupidest plot line ever and you’ve got a wasted read.
Honestly the sex scenes can often salvage a “fluff” plot. This one I couldn’t even skip to. The heroine even describes herself as okay looks wise but nothing to write home about. Ideally a supermodel male, Bryce, is going to look for a supermodel female, not our heroine.
I usually love Penny’s May/December romances. I love me an older guy. This book though was unbelievable, and not in a good way.
Don’t waste your time or money.

What a delicious little kinky read!
I’m all about that taboo forbidden romance read. While Katti and Bryce knew each other for years nothing ever sparked until she was 18. Even tho she had a crush on him most of her life she didn’t make a move until she was legal but the fact that he was her fathers best friend kept her from truly acting on her feelings. 4 years later fate intervened and brought them back together and it was FILTHY DELICIOUSNESS!!! Hot damn! You want a good smutty read this is it! First book I’ve read by this author but I know where I need to go when I need some filthy reading🤣

I wasn't sure what to expect when I grabbed this one - I saw it on the list of someone I trust to pick good reads, so I gave it a go.
At first, there is a strong and sexy vibe between the young Katti and the older Bryce. As a male reader, I could relate strongly to the H and his orientation towards the h. Sometimes the innocence of the h can go overboard and it loses its realism, however I felt as if Penny was living out fantasies right through her characters, so I believed it and could feel what she was conveying through the MC's interplay.
Strangely, though there is definitely the protectiveness element, it wasn't a Ddlg dynamic. The H strives to meet the h where she is and go from there, and when it works, it worked well. There was a surprising variety of dirty sex for a romance - but it starts as a hook up book, so it seemed to fit. It is MF only action throughout, however there are many toys and other props, semi-public venues, and sexual firsts for Katti that were believable and hot. There were lots of orgasms for the h, but they were all the same, despite all the toys, positions, firsts, and locations, and this seemed not to fit with the rest of the elements, but it didn't spoil the fun. There is some slut-shaming and lust-shaming that, though perhaps more culturally realistic, took away some from the romantic element for me.
Then, after a decent and steamy start, things go sideways in the plot and for me as a reader. The h simply up and decides she simply *can't* be with this man she's been madly in love with for years, we find out later because she feels more loyalty to everyone who might be upset by their relationship than to the H or herself. And this part goes on and on, and though I could understand some moments of childishness, since she is so young, it felt like it went on for half the book, which was too much and really put a chill on the steamy start. I think this was done in the spirit of character-building and wrapping more of a story around the sexual journey, however I think if these elements had been played way down or omitted entirely, it would be a great erotica novella.
Finally, she gets over her *can't* (barely) and Bryce gets punched by her Dad then the next morning gets Katti's parent's blessing on the front lawn before the parents leave and he coaxes her out from behind the sofa where she was hiding and they go act out her original eighteen year old sexy-meet fantasy in the family pool house, which is where the steam comes back and the book, in my opinion, gets back on track. But then it's over.
Two stars for plot and form, but four for sexy times, and five for being just dirty, so overall three stars for me.

When you read Penny books over and over ... you know her work ...but something about this book is just a bit different. She tends to do a lot of insta-steam ...is what i call them ... like the romance starts pretty quickly, bang, right out of the cage (what's that thing that horse gets through in a race? u know what i mean, i think??!) ...but ... well i am not saying that the couple doesn't have an interest (an insta-steam, lust, interest, curiosity or such??!) in one another ... but ... and who doesn't love a British man and that voice... that accent. oh yeah!! score there! i have never had an issue with the age gap ... never a problem ...the hubby and i have an 8 year gap. if we had met earlier in life every1 would have had an issue with it all ...but that didn't have in real life ... but i can imagine. i know so many folks have issues or whatever it is that bugs them ... myself ... i feel love is love. no matter what the age ... how you feel is how you feel. glad this read has an HEA ending. great cover. always a fan of Penny's ... well done. right on up there for me ... in the starts dept!!! hoot hoot!!

Katie and Bryce will set your Kindle on fire and take you on an emotional journey like no other. He was her Dad's best friend and off limits. Fate and a dating app brings them together years later and the spark is still there. The characters are well developed, interesting and likable. The story line is entertaining and a page turner. You'll love Bryce and Katie's story as sometimes people are just meant to be together. I read an advance reader copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review. Sizzling.

Because it was a novella, everything seemed to happen too fast and too superficially. This book could also use a good round of proofreading, as there were many typographical mistakes.

This is a "Dads bestfriend/daughter" romance with lots of sex and some drama to add. It's also an older/younger theme with the H being classed as a "silverfox".
This was my first read by this author and although i didnt really enjoy it, I will definitely check out her other books (she has written a ton!) because she can't be as popular as she is without having written something a bit more exciting than this?

Katti is a beautiful young 24 yr old woman whose trying to get over Bryce Collingswood, her father’s best friend whose 49 yrs old. The chemistry between them is intense and electrifying. Theirs is a taboo romance and the feels are steamy.
Katti is now back in town - the past is at odds with the present. Can Katti and Bryce get beyond the past to let their future open up. Great read with steamy moments.

Penny Wylder never ceases to amaze me with the originality in her writing. Hooking up with my Dad's best friend is an amazing age gap romance that sets the pages on fire. From the very first page, I was captivated by Bryce and Katti's story unable to stop reading until I got to the very last page.
Although the trope isn't my usual, I am glad I took a chance on reading this.

This didn’t work for me at all. The writing was just ok, but that wasn’t what bothered me. This heroine was awful. I got to the point where I was wishing for the hero to be done with her ass. She cared so much about what others would think that she didn’t deserve him. Blah another one bites the dust

Wow, Penny has done it again by making me love a romance genre that is not my typical go to. Dad's best friend, wasn't quite sure how this would go, but it didn't take long and I was all in! I really LOVED these characters in this well rounded, easy to read story and couldn't help but buzz right through it in one sitting.
Katti, the younger woman who'd spent years of her life crushing so hard on her father's sexy Brittish friend, felt that moving away after a very embarrassing moment, the final blow to her unreciprocated feelings, was the best way to deal with the reality of her situation. Years later and in another town hours from home, she makes new life but still thinks about him and hasn't moved on.
I'm going to leave out the juicy details so you can discover them on your own, but suffice it to say...flaming hot kindle burning alert... maybe you should invest in some kevlar gloves for this one. Sooo HOT..damn! Can someone get a second chance at a first time to fulfill their fantasies and hearts desire?
